WARNING: This story will have panic attacks, ptsd, stress, crying, starting of panic attacks, anxiety, possibly nervous breakdown, and someone aka Ryder passing out.

Ever since Buddy has joined the team, he noticed that Ryder always looked stressed or tired or whatever he's feeling that day which isn't happiness and it's making Buddy feel bad for Ryder plus it hurts seeing his owner like this. Also for some reason Buddy can feel whenever Ryder was about to have a panic attack but he wasn't able to calm him down in time and he always cried whenever Ryder wasn't with him which the other pups who stayed behind at the lookout noticed and Marshall diagnosed Buddy with Separation Anxiety but he didn't have the time to tell Ryder because Ryder was always busy.

The pups were starting to get worried about Ryder more and more each day as they slowly see their leader's condition get worse and worse but to top it all, whenever a sound that sounds like a gunshot, Ryder would immediately duck and cover up his ears. The pups didn't know why but it usually happens in public but as soon as everyone looks at Ryder's quick reaction each time, it's usually Mayor Goodway, Mr. Porter, Cap'n Turbot, Katie, Jake, or Danny to help calm Ryder down who started to get a panic attack from the sound. Marshall tried to get Ryder to let him give his leader a checkup but Ryder refuses to do so each time since he was usually busy. Buddy didn't know why was Ryder acting like this but he didn't like it at all.

However one day in the middle of the night, Buddy was woken up to crying. He looked at Ryder's bed to find it empty so he got out of bed and he went to go find the kid. He walked through the halls of the lookout until he made it to the door of the garage where the crying was coming from. Buddy then entered the room and he saw Ryder with his head on the table, his arms wrapped around to use as a pillow or to cover up his face, and he was crying but it wasn't a sad scent, it was a stressed out scent. Buddy then went over to Ryder, put his front paws on Ryder's leg, and he started to lick Ryder's ear to which the boy noticed so he covered up his ear with his hand but then Buddy was then able to lick Ryder's face making the boy smile a bit, sit up, and then look at the wolf. "Thanks Buddy... I kinda needed that.." Ryder told Buddy who wagged his tail happily. Buddy then sat down next to Ryder who smiled but then something fell off the shelf landing on a bubble wrap which made a popping sound that was similar to a gunshot but because of this, Ryder jumped out of his seat and he started to breathe sharply. Ryder didn't know what made the sound so he thought it was a gun which triggered something aka a panic attack. Buddy didn't know what to do but then he got an idea so he jumped up, put his paws on Ryder's chest making the ten year old hold him up, and he let Ryder pet him to which this caught the child off guard but as Ryder petted Buddy, he calmed down and he then breathed normally again. "H-how did you do that Buddy..." Ryder asked Buddy to which he shrugged because 1, he doesn't have anything to write with in the room and 2, he can't talk like the pups. Ryder then put Buddy down and he continued to pet him to which this made the wolf wag his tail. This continued until the 10yr old felt tired and he took himself to bed but Buddy followed him and slept in bed with the kid.

In the morning, Buddy was woken up to Ryder looking at a picture of his dad but Ryder's eyes were red and he looked like that was crying. Buddy tilted his head in confusion but he then put a paw on Ryder's lap. Ryder looked at Buddy and he smiled a bit. "Thanks Buddy. You really know how to help someone through stuff huh..." Ryder told Buddy who nodded. After Ryder got changed, Buddy followed him upstairs to the lobby and once they got there; Ryder filled up the pups' food bowls with kibble. Just then Ryder noticed a spill in the corner so as soon as he was done giving the pups food he went over to closet, grabbed a mop, he then cleaned up the mess but as soon as the mop hit the floor he froze as if he just got a small flashback where he had to clean up the floor of his old house when he was 2yrs old. Ryder couldn't bare to clean the floor but he had to but he just stood there frozen while shaking a bit and trying not to cry. Buddy went over to Ryder and he put his paw on Ryder's knee which broke the boy out of the frozen state. "Sorry Buddy, I don't know what came over me." Ryder told Buddy and he then cleaned up the mess. By the time he was done, the pups woke up and they all ate their food (Buddy did too because he also eats pup food in his own bowl) but they were all concerned about Ryder who was just looking at his pup pad with a sad look. "Ryder is definitely not ok." Chase whispered to the pups to which they all agreed on. "We all need to keep an eye on him before we have another storm incident." Marshall admitted as he remembered what happened before Buddy joined the team.

-flashback-

Everyone in Adventure Bay was piled into City Hall while a raging storm was going on outside. The paw patrol were really busy trying to keep everyone ok and alive but then Ryder came in holding an orange cat in his arms but Ryder was soaked from head to toe and he had the cat in his vest to keep the cat dry. "Here you go Hailey." Ryder told Hailey and he handed the cat to Hailey Daily. "Ryder, you didn't have too. I told you I can go get Mr. Nibbles myself!" Hailey Daily told Ryder who then told her "It's fine! It's my job to help serve and protect others." Ryder then ran off too find a towel but he didn't get a chance to start looking because someone needed help with trying to see how long the storm will last. Then another person needed help with another thing so Ryder had to help that person out immediately after he was done. When he was done he started to get swarmed by people who all needed his help to which the pups notice but they weren't able to get to Ryder. Ryder then started to feel light headed and his head started pound along with his ears started to ring. Daring Danny X noticed this so he made his way to Ryder and he shook Ryder's shoulder which caught the boy's attention making him turn around to face the red head. "Ryder, are you ok? You don't look too well and you're starting to go pale." Danny asked Ryder and Ryder stammered a bit trying to find the right words. Before anyone knew it, Ryder then fainted and Danny immediately caught the paw patrol leader before he even hit the floor. No one expected that to happen but Marshall told Cap'n Turbot to take Ryder to a different room so he can look over him to see if he's ok. It turns out Ryder didn't only fainted because he felt sick, but it was because he gotten really stressed out and his anxiety went up. Ryder stayed unconscious for over 10 hours which was how long the storm lasted and the morning the next day. Ryder woke up to concerned pups, Cap'n Turbot, Mayor Goodway, Hailey Daily, Katie, and Daring Danny X.

-End of flashback-

"I know all the signs are there and other ones, but Ryder definitely needs a service animal to help with his stress, panic attacks, and ptsd." Marshall told the pups. "But how will we get one?" Chase asked and then it clicked to all of them since they seen Buddy trying to help calm Ryder down multiple times. "Buddy!" The pups exclaimed and they all agreed with the idea they got.

After they told Ryder their idea who had to agree to it, Buddy and Ryder going to service animal training, the training being done, getting verified, and all that type of jazz. Buddy was now an official member of the paw patrol as Ryder's service animal and a backup pup just in case a pup or cat can't go on a mission at all that requires their job.
