chapter 12: Of happy endings and bus stops

Annabeth Chase:
I was surprised on how smoothly lunch went. Annabeth really hit it off with my other friends. I said this to her as I walked over to her house to work on our Greek project.
"Soo, you got along with the others well," I said slowly. I was super stocked that Annabeth was going to Goode, but I was also nervous to meet her rich Mother.
"Yeah, the girls are nice. Thalia hangs out with Nico, and I have known Grover practically my whole life."
"Really? I didn't know you were so close."
"Yeah."
We kept walking for a while in comfortable silence. "So, your Mom let you walk home?"
Annabeth smiled at me. "Well, my mom has a butler named Harry, he took me to school and I called him at the end of the day telling him I had a project to work on and would be walking home with a friend."

Annabeths house was huge.
Not like, 5 bedrooms and 2 stories, like, mansion huge. I mean, I knew Annabeths mom was rich, but how can you make that much money by drawing lines and measuring? She must be good.
"Yeah, I know," Annabeth said with a dreamy smile, practically reading my mind.
Once we entered the mansion the first person I saw was a little old man in a tuxedo.
"Hello Miss. Chase, I see you and your..." he starts smirking lightly, "friend have arrived! Is there anything I can get you to?"
Annabeth glared softly at the old man and shook her head. "No Harry, thank you. Do you know when my mom will be home?"
Harry smiled at her. "Miss. Athena will be home around 6:30."
Annabeth nodded and smiled at Harry. "Thank you. We'll be up stairs," Annabeth says grabbing my hand and dragging me up the gigantic two way staircase.
'This is going to be interesting.'

To say Annabeths room was giant was an understatement. Of course, that is really about all the synonym I have for big so it will have to do. Lets just say it was a nice sized room.
"Okay, we just have to type up this stuff and print out our collogue- Percy are you listening to me?" I nodded, not wanting to feel her wrath. "Right. Anyways..."
Truth was, I wasn't listening. I kind of was to busy staring at her.

Annabeth Chase:
I was glad Percy left before my Mom was home.
Not that I didn't want them to meet or anything, but with my moms pride and uptight attitude...lets just say it wouldn't end well.
"Annabeth. Annabeth, you haven't touched your food."
Startled out of my thoughts, I looked up to my mother. "What?"
My Mom raised an eye brow at me. "...Your food."
I quickly remember that I am sitting at the dinner table. "Oh! Yes, sorry mother."
Both of us were silent for the rest of the night.

A few weeks have passed since I moved in with my mom. I really like it. I can work on Architecture, Harry is super nice, and I still get to go to Goode with Percy, Thalia, and my other new friends.
"Hey, I have a question," Percy asked me as we walked to school one morning. Since I moved across town my house was not walking distance to his, but every morning (and afternoon) he would ride the bus over to a bus stop near my house so we could walk to and from school together. His persistence was adorable.
"What is it?"
Percy had his hands in his pockets and I could see he was clenching them nervously.
"Me and the others are going to Montauk this weekend...we were wondering if you wanted to come."
I was excited. I loved Montauk!
"Sure! I have to ask my mom of course, but I don't see why she would see no."
Percy sighed, obviously relieved that I didn't reject him. Suddenly, Percy stops walking and I look up to see that we were at th public bus stop, Percy's stop.
"Well, I'll see you...tomorrow?"
Today was Friday so I assumed tomorrow was the beach day. I nodded, smiling slightly. "Yeah, I'll text you!" I yell across my shoulder as I walk home.
'Lets see what my Mother has to say about this.'

She got home early. My mom that is. I decided to bring up the beach to her during dinner.
"Um, I was invited to the beach tomorrow."
My mom doesn't even took up from the book she is reading with the hand she didn't have her fork in.
"Oh really?"
I nod, putting my silverware down softly. "Who are these...friends?"
"Just a few friends from school. Thalia is going." She finally looks up from her book.
Since me and Thalia had been friends for so long, she had been there before my mom left. Also, her Dad Zeus is my moms buisness ally, even though he isn't apart of her life now...he left when she was very young, right after Jason was born. What I'm trying to get across is that mother knows Thalia.
"Thalia Grace?"
I nod.
"Well, I don't see why not. Will they be picking you up, or will Harry need to drive you?"
I think it over. 'I can just tell Percy to pick me up.'
"I can go with them."
Mother nods. "Very well then. But eat up please! You need to put some meat on those bones."
With a small smile, I nod and start eating the food.

"He's here! Thank you Harry."
The man gave me a fatherly smile and opened the door for me. "You are certainly welcome Annabeth," I asked him to call me that "Now don't have too much fun!"
I laugh and run out to Percy's car, Getting in.
"Why hello there Miss. Chase," Percy says in a British accent. I roll my eyes. "Your British is absolutely horrific," I say in the same accent. He laughs and drives out of my very large driveway.

"Pleeeaaaase Annie wannie Banani. You've been sitting here reading for hours!"
"It has only been 45 minutes dumb-dumb."
Percy whines, giving me his adorable baby seal face. He was complaining that I was laying on the beach reading "The perks of being a wallflower" instead of frolicking in the ocean with Percy and the others. All except Thalia, she was laid across my lap.
"That isn't going to work on me," I lie. If it was anybody else...sure, I would've been fine. But Percy? Naw, I wouldn't be able to last much longer.
Suddenly, Thalia is thrown off me and I feel myself being lifted to the water by strong arms...Percy's strong arms.
"Perseus Jackson put me down!" I yell at him wailing my arms and legs wildly.
Percy laughs and looks down at me while he runs towards the water. Once he's waist deep he threw me in. The water was freezing.
I resurface to se that Percy had disappeared. "Percy!" No answer. "Perseus Jackson!" Still no answer. "Per-"
I was pulled underwater. Since it was unexpected, I started chocking. The pair of hands that had pulled me down by my foot quickly grab my waist and pull me back up.
"O' my Gods Annabeth. I am so so sorry I didn't mean to make you choke." Well look at that...it was Percy who nearly killed me. Yippie da day. I coughed up the last bit of water from my throat and took a few strangled breaths.
"I'm...fine."
I hear Percy sigh in relief, but he smirks. "Darn it, I was really looking forward to giving you mouth to mouth."
I blush, something that is once in a lifetime for me. "Well crap." I answer sarcastically.
Percy smiles at me. I smile back. We stay like that for a while. Just us, in the middle of the ocean, his arms wrapped tightly around my waist. I felt all our friends eyes on us. Like we wee the stars of a rom com or something.
Just then, Percy make a bold move. A very, very bold move that I am absolutely glad he made.
He kissed me.
I know it sounds clique, but I felt fireworks. Literal flames going of and exploding throughout my entire being. It felt like in the Greek myths, how it's said that we used to have eight limbs and two faces...and we were split apart. So we roam around the earth, trying to find out other half.
I found my other half.
We fit like a puzzle piece. It was something...so real. So raw. Something I had never felt before.
So, when we pulled away for air, (I was just chocking my lungs out 5 minutes prior) I am not ashamed to admit I was very disappointed.
"I think I might love you Annabeth Chase," Percy whispers to me quietly. His face the most sincerest that I had ever seen it before.
I smiled. "I think I might love you to Perseus Jackson."
So...I finally got the guy right? Found my other half. That's supposedly my 'Happy ever after' right?
