In my mind is every word, that they don't wanna hear

chapter 13: Of meeting the parents

Percy Jackson:

The next few weeks were wonderful.

I loved having Annabeth as a friend, but her being my girlfriend was even better.

Our Greek project-that kind of brought us together now that I think about it(Remind me to thank Mr. Brunner later.)-was finally finished. It was the end of the school day that we presented our project and I had a proposal to ask Annabeth.

"Hey Wise Girl," I say as I walk up to Annabeth, who was putting her things in her locker. She smiled warmly and turned to face me.

"Hi Sea Weed brain."

"I got this idea," I say starting to feel nervous. Annabeth locked up her locker and grabbed my hand, leading me out of Goode's doors. Finally.

"Yeah?"

"Uh, Yeah. Well, since we've been together for a couple of weeks...um and my mom really wants to see you again. Well, you see, I was wondering if you'd want to come over for dinner. Mom and Paul already agreed. If you don't want to that's fine also. Actually, I'd understand if you don't want-"

Annabeth cut me off by kissing my cheek. I stop ranting and turn beet red. She smiled sadly at me.

"I wish I could, but I'm going over to my Dad's for dinner-" she cuts herself off. "Why don't you come with me? I don't think my Dad has formally met you."

I smile and nod.

"And maybe maybe some other time I could see Sally again. How I would LOVE to hear some more stories." I groan.

"You remember the address right?"

I nod.

"Okay, be there 5' o'clock. Sharp!"

I laugh a little and assure her I won't be late.

So, with a hug, a kiss, and one last goodbye, we depart.

5:47.

That's the time I end up pulling into the Chases driveway.

'Yeah, great first impression Perce, Way to go. Almost a full hour late to dinner. Well, technically, it wasn't my fault. You see, my mom said I had to dress up. Which in my mind means hole-less jeans and a nice, flannel shirt...Mom had other ideas.

So there I was, on my girlfriends Dad's doorstep 47 minutes late to dinner, in my 'never been used' suit and tie.

"Oh! You must be Percy, pleased to meet you son," Mr. Chase says opening the door. I reply with a charming "The pleasure is mine sir."

A woman-who I assumed was Helen, Annabeths step Mother-walks over to us. "And 13 minutes early, how charming."

'13 minutes early?!Wait...oh thank the heavens. Annabeth tricked me into coming early.

"I try Ma'am."

"Well don't just stand there, come in! Come in."

I walk inside, Mrs. Chare shutting the door behind me.

"Annabeth is in the kitchen making desert. She is almost done I assume. Let me go check on her," Helen says walking in the direction of the lovely smelling kitchen. Mr. Chase directs my to the couch and we sit.

"So, am assuming you and my daughter are pretty serious, since you are already "Meeting the parents." "

I laugh nervously, anxious to see Annabeth already. "Well, when we got together we confirmed that we 'Love' each other...and I kind of have liked her for five or six years now."

Mr. Chase laughed. "Wow. Must've been really hard to watch Annabeth with Luke."

I faked smiled at that. "Uhh, yes."

"Hey guys. Sea Weed brain," Annabeth said walking into the living room. Her hair was in a messy bun and she had a "Kiss the cook" apron on. Sadly, her parents were here.

"Dinners ready!" Helen calls from the kitchen. We all walk in and sit at the table.

So...yeah. I finally was with the girl of my dreams, her Dad seemed supportive, I was extremely happy, and Annabeth seemed to be too.

But, my happiness is not what this story is about now is it?

Annabeth Chase:

The dinner went well.

Both Dad and Helen seemed to like Percy, the twins behaved for the most part, and Percy seemed to really like the desert I made...Blue chocolate chip cookies.

It had been a few days and I was sitting at the dinner table with my Mom.

"You seem to be very happy with this...boy you are in a relationship with. Am I correct?"

I am surprised by my Mothers statement. The whole time I had lived with her she was never interested in my social life. Not that I had much of one, but now that I am friends with Piper, Leo, and the rest of them, my life has a little more...activity. And Athena was always busy so I decided not to talk to her unless she starts up the conversation.

"Yeah, why?"

"Well, you invited him to your little...evening at your fathers...did you not?"

"I did. Dad and Hel- Dad was very fond of him," I say quickly. I always supposed Helen was a sore subject with my Mom since I could tell she still loved my dad. They were married for years, and had a child, worked together to raise me up right...she will always love him...but she loved her career more.

Athena nods.

"Well, I suppose I should meet this fellow. Don't want to running around with a hooligan, though Harry says he is a kind boy. Good lookin, as well. I will schedule a gathering with him soon. Peter is his name?"

I laugh to myself and respectfully shake my head. "Percy."

"Y-Your mom? As in 'Fancy buisness woman Athena Olympia who would kick my butt,' wants to...meet me?"

I smile at my boyfriend and nod.

" She doesn't want me running around with a hooligan," I say laughing lightly. Percy laughs too.

"Hahaha. Hooligan."

I roll my eyes.

My Moms 'meeting' with Percy happened about a week later...though it didn't take that long for it to end.

Athena tells us to sit down as Harry serves the food.

"So...Percy. What are you planning to go to collage for?" My mom asks. Straight to the academics.

Percy gulps. "Well, I have a scholarship for swimming, and am probably going to gat a degree in Marine biology."

I slowly turn my head to my mom to see her reaction. She was stone faced, as usual.

"Percy is really good at swimming, he has won tons of competitions," I say.

Athena nods her head.

"Any family members that I might know?"

"Well, not that I'm sure of. My mom Sally Jackson is a writ-"

"Sally Jackson?"

Percy nods slowly, silently sending me a look that said 'Doesn't she know my last name?'

I shake my head.

"Are you a...Jackson?" my Mother asks him, hands clenching under the table.

"Well...yeah. I thought you knew...unless it's a bad thing, if that's the case...I'm a Clark! Percy Clark," He says nervously.

"Is your father...Poseidon?" Athena asks, her tone anything but endearing.

Percy's face turns a tiny bit angry. "Actually, my Dad left us when-"

"So he is!" Mothers face turns bright red and t]she stands up.

"I will not let my daughter be in any relationship with a...Sea spawn! Let alone a romantical one!"

'Oh no.'

"Mom."

"Get out of my house! You two are never to see each other again!"

I look at Percy desperately. 'There's nothing we can do," he mouths back to me, getting up and walking away with a utterly sad and confused face.

Harry walks into the room, 3 cups of tea.

"I got you your tea Miss-" he see's Percy is gone, my mother is fuming, and I am getting there.

"Oh, I see your busy," he scurries away as fast as he can.

"What was that about?" I ask her in an angry tone. It was the most disrespectfully I had spoken to my mother since I moved in.

"You are...banned from him. He...he is a terrible boy."

I only get angrier. "How do you know that?! You only spoke a few words to him?!"

"Go to your room," She says face stoning up again. "I will not tolerate your back talk. You are never to see him again. Go. To. Your. Room."

I am fuming red now. "I love him!"

'Whoa. I have never said it like that so...easily. It just...flew out of me."

"You don't know what love is," My mother says, turning around.

I was not letting this go down.

"Well, that's because of you!"

My mother stops walking ad freezes in place.

"You had a perfect life! A loving husband. A-a six year old little girl," I'm not yelling now. I'm speaking softly, sadly. "And- and you just so easily leave it. For what, a company with your name on it? You had something permanent, you didn't need to build any more."

With that, I run up to my room, sad, and extremely confused on why my other hates Percy.
