AN: I'm updating quite a bit today aren't I?
9:
The morning after the party Rebekah woke up, a little smile on her face as she saw Bonnie sleeping with a blushing smile and Caroline who was drooling. The blonde baby vampire had an arm around Bonnie's waist and was nuzzling the witch's neck.
"They can sleep through a canon barrage," Rebekah looked to see Elena was sitting up and whispering. "The last time we did something like this…they were happily asleep through Jeremy stomping down the stairs."
"Let's go-" Rebekah whispered only to hear a neck snap and a loud chuckle. "Nik was wondering about hybrids procreating and was going to talk to Elijah about it."
"Knowing how possessive Elijah is over me at the moment…Klaus is down for the count," Elena apologized. "I really am sorry about the neck snapping and the daggering." Even though she did say sorry she still felt as though it wasn't enough.
"When you mentioned that you were compelled I forgave you," Rebekah murmured before she and Elena got out of bed. "Now come on, I'm sure that my brother would love to hold you in his arms at the moment." Elena giggled and as they made their way downstairs Kol was moving Klaus' body to the couch and Elijah was pacing, his body tense.
"'Lijah," Elena whispered and as he took her into his arms she kissed him lightly. "You're really tense. Do you want me to massage your back?" Kol snickered and looked ready to make an inappropriate comment but held back.
"Apparently Nik wanted to know if hybrids could possibly have babies," Kol told her with a chuckle. "Elijah's possessive over you so he snapped his brother's neck for your honor."
"I explained that to her," Rebekah told him before shooing him out of the kitchen. "Now I'm going to make breakfast and then help Elena pack for her 'world tour'."
"It's not so much of a world tour but a gathering intelligence research program," Elijah hummed as he had his eyes closed and holding Elena. "We're hoping that the Gilbert journals has some information about it."
"Which means that we need to get the journals," Elena purred as the Original holding her began to stroke her back. "So hopefully we can get Jeremy here or on the phone and we can get into the house and the lakehouse."
"Over the phone works best," Klaus grumbled as he walked into the room rubbing his neck. "Easiest way to get into someone's place of residence if they're nowhere near you and said place of residence."
"How was your nap?" Rebekah asked cheekily. "Eventful?"
"No actually," Klaus glowered at her as he spoke with a growl. "It wasn't."
Later in the afternoon as Bonnie was driving with Rebekah, Kol and Caroline she asked, "Did they leave already?"
"They went to Denver to talk and explain to Jeremy what's really going on," Kol answered as he drove to Caroline's house where Stefan and Damon were waiting for the girls. "They thought he should know what really happened and not the fantasy the brothers would tell him."
Bonnie nodded and as Caroline was about to leave the car Damon opened Bonnie's door and pulled her out, almost breaking her arm but it was enough to pop it out of the socket.
She screamed in pain and Kol grabbed Damon by the throat as soon as he got out of the car. Clenching his hand Damon's neck broke, causing the head to fall to the side.
Caroline ran to Bonnie's side as Stefan fell with a broken neck as well before Rebekah got to them.
"How bad is it?" Bonnie asked through clenched teeth.
"Popped out of the socket," Rebekah said as her fingers touched it. "I was a nurse back in 1919 New Orleans so I can heal this if you want."
"Can we do this in a hospital?" Bonnie's teeth were still clenched but tears ran hotly down her cheeks.
"Of course," Rebekah said calmly as though this were an everyday occurrence. "Wherever you feel the most comfortable."
"I'll drive," Caroline said as she had Kol call Klaus to get the Salvatores to their torture room, "while Kol sits with you in the back to keep you calm and zen."
"I'll update Elena and Elijah," Rebekah said lightly as she carried Bonnie in her arms. "They would want to hear this."
"Well Damon's going to be tortured," Elena said evenly as she began to drink her iced tea from Starbucks as Elijah and Jeremy were sitting across from each other-Elijah with an iced coffee and Jeremy with a vanilla bean Frappuccino. "He pulled out Bonnie's arm socket so she's going to be doing less magic from now on and will start doing arm exercises as well as taking medications to make sure that nothing else happens to the arm."
"I should feel sorry for Damon but I don't," Jeremy said as he twirled his straw around. "But you're an Original Hybrid?"
"Yeah," Elena said as she closed her phone. "I am."
"How?" Elena winced and twirled her straw around nervously. "Never mind-I don't want to know." Elijah, knowing why she was nervous, held her hand. It seemed that it was a Gilbert siblings thing-when you're nervous and you have a drink with a straw you twirl the straw. "Why are you here?"
"We were hoping that you would come home with us and allow us entrance to the house and the lakehouse," Elijah explained. "We need to see the journals to discover Elena's werewolf genealogy and then try to combine our family and the werewolf one."
"Let me go and pack," Jeremy told them smiling. "Then I'll help you look through the journals."
As Bonnie was sitting inside of the Mikaelson mansion again, she was mildly surprised to see Klaus was sketching something on a canvas before she realized that it was Caroline.
"You tend to draw her a lot," Bonnie noted, as there were more paintings and sketches of the blonde. "Do you sketch or paint anyone or anything else?"
"Sometimes but my muse wants me to do this," he said evenly as his eyes flashed to hers. "I don't know how to track down a wolf bloodline if no one knows about the bloodline."
"Maybe there's something in the cave drawings that Elena and I took pictures of," Bonnie mused as she pulled out her phone. "There's a lot of Viking script that I can't make heads or tails out of but Elena has for some of them." She shook her head. "Some of it seemed gibberish so before this," she motioned with her good hand, "happened she had been stressing over that."
"Maybe you can show it to Kol or Bekah?" He asked. "They loved playing in the caves even if it wasn't time for us to go and hide from the wolf men while I'm sure that Elijah will help her decipher what she got."
As soon as the plane landed Elijah carried a sleeping Elena while Jeremy was carrying their bags.
"So you believe that it's mentioned in the journals?" Jeremy asked him as Elena slept. "I doubt it but again…I want to know what's true and what's not."
"I believe that John could have added something but I'm hopeful that we have a starting point," Elijah admitted. "Since meeting Elena I've been more hopeful now about our futures."
"…this does say 'Crescent Pack' right?" Rebekah asked Kol once they found Bonnie outside in the garden area, sitting on a mat, trying to read what Elena had (who had given her permission to read that notebook from her childhood room).
Caroline had been the one who gone to the Gilbert residence to pack a ton of Elena's things (clothes, books, laptop, chargers, photo albums and notebooks) to bring to the Mansion.
The two youngest Original siblings decided to help the witch who was forced to be magic-less.
"No," Kol looked at what Elena wrote-having copied the script-before writing what she could. "It mostly says 'wolf…pack…northeast…" he shook his head. "I guess Mikael wrote this as there are unpleasant slang terms about the wolf men."
"I can understand why Mikael would hate the wolf men after Henrik," Bonnie began, "as well as finding out about Esther and her werewolf lover but before that? What made him dislike them?"
"We're not sure what happened first but after Henrik and Esther," Kol began, "he was pushed over the edge."
"I think that he had made a pass at one of the females wolves who turned him down," Rebekah said thoughtfully. "I think being rejected would make someone hate that person and in turn being laughed at by a few of them…hate could have festered."
"Why was he being turned down while married?" Bonnie asked. "Was he planning on cheating? I mean turnabout is fairplay but this…this is messed up."
"We think that his proposal of a wolf entangling herself with one of his sons was laughable," Kol said with a shrug. "Mikael may have been an absolute ass but he never cheated on his wife."
"But Esther…" Bonnie began.
"She cheated on him during a dark time," Rebekah whispered. "Our eldest sister Freya-the apple of Mikael's eye-died of the plague when Esther was pregnant with Elijah-he felt saddened and depressed. Mother tried everything to get him to let go of the grief but he kept turning her away until…"
"Klaus' father was there as a confidant and a shoulder to cry on," Bonnie realized. "Feelings developed and though it was a mistake they felt something didn't they." It wasn't a question but an acknowledgement.
"The way our mother put it as a bedtime story when we couldn't sleep," Kol cleared his throat, "the moon can only watch the stars flicker and fade while deep in the heart the moon yearns for a moment."
"She found her soulmate but they could never be," Bonnie whispered while looking ready to cry. "She had done some hateful things but circumstances surrounding her love life are heartbreaking."
"They weren't soulmates but star crossed like Romeo and Juliet," Rebekah admitted. "Both in love but unable to be. Maybe in the next life they can be."
