DISCLAIMER: I don't own this franchise or any of the characters except for Isabella and Adeline, the plotline is all mine though
AN: I'm having this take place before the summer as it seemed easier and Elena-being older and not in college at the moment-was taking all the responsibilities that the canon in high school girl did and this time, no classes are being missed!
Also-please don't leave reviews wanting reviews for your stories (this is directed at everyone)
Chapter 1: Meetings
Elena was in the clothing store with her boyfriend (his idea for the moment) when she heard one of his sister's screech about looking like a prostitute and Elena smirked around her iced coffee.
"Of course you do Rebekah," she called to her as she appeared behind Klaus. "No one's going to refute that as Klaus prefers women with loose morals." The subtle jab at one of the people in the family that hated her didn't make her feel good but she knew that it had to be said.
"Who the hell are you and what are you doing with Elijah?" Rebekah snapped angrily as her twin sister Adeline looked at her with a curious expression before smiling.
"She's Elijah's lover," Adeline answered evenly as she nodded. "You should be happy that he is sister or are you just in a hateful mood after discovering our mother's necklace had been stolen from you?"
Adeline was very different from Rebekah-her personality was more loving but her temper was just like Klaus'-explosive-her blonde hair was wavy and her eyes mimicked the blue sky on top of her being what Elena is, a Heretic who has the nickname 'Demon'.
Adeline also loved with her whole heart and only one person had the ability to keep her attention but the sad part was that they couldn't be together just yet.
They could only steal moments in time.
No wonder that necklace looked familiar to Elena. The damnable Original Witch's necklace was now gracing the neck of her latest doppelganger-the naïve and little idiotic Isabella-who needed to be away from the toxicity of the Salvatores.
It wasn't that she hated them but she knew that her descendant could do so much better and that was why one part of her plan was in action.
The entire linchpin of her plan was set on whether or not Katerina Petrova could even do it.
"Elena?" Stefan managed to ask in a dull tone, causing Klaus to eye her curiously. "What are you doing here?"
"If you had paid any attention to the mass text I sent you would know," Elena huffed as she was getting annoyed with answering the same thing that she texted to Isabella, Jeremy and everyone back in Mystic Falls. "I had been having massive headaches that were nearly borderline on becoming migraines and I made an executive decision to leave the town to see if it was because of the drama there or if it was a medical condition." She rolled her eyes heavenward. "The drama was causing the headaches. I ended up stumbling upon Elijah's coffin and undaggered him to tell him what was going on and since then we've been inseparable since." Her eyes glittered at the scenarios that had been played out before they even came back to Chicago to put their new plan into action.
"So you undaggered my brother who tried to kill me?" Klaus asked and Elena nodded with a smirk. "Why him?"
"His was the first coffin I found and well…" she grinned salaciously while Klaus seemed to understand why his was the one she undaggered by the heated looks in their eyes as they stared at each other.
"Did not need to know," Stefan grumbled as he witnessed the looks. "How is Isabella?"
"Why worry about a dead girl?" Rebekah huffed angrily as she went to get dressed.
"Considering she's alive and possibly sleeping with vampires like Stefan before Klaus broke them up?" Elena drawled over to the changing blonde. "She's good and in a weird place as the idiot Salvatores have her tangled in a love triangle and she doesn't know how to escape it."
Klaus seemed angry until Adeline in her green knee length dress placed her hand on his arm.
"There's a reason for everything," she explained and Klaus smiled at her. She was like him-unloved by certain members of the family including her own twin. "She wants clemency and to be free to be with her hearts choice," she added but Elena knew that they were talking about Katerina. "I want to be free to be loved and have it returned."
"Love is a powerful emotion," Elena added as she looked at Klaus. "Especially a father's love for his only daughter when he realized that no matter what she will always be his baby girl. Be it a vampire or a human a father protects."
Unbidden, Elijah remembered all the times with his stepdaughter and how he had protected her from unworthy suitors before she found one that he approved of. His fingers grazed Elena's lower back as he remembered watching her transform into a vampire of her mother's bloodline the day her would be suitor died.
"Her father died before I arrived," Klaus whispered. "Unless…" he stared at Elena who nodded. "The man who claimed to be her uncle was her father. Isobel never told me about her daughter's father, believing I knew when I didn't. Katerina did."
"Any parent would protect their child brother," Elijah whispered and Klaus knew who he meant to say without saying it. "Even if the child isn't theirs by blood they will protect."
"She's safe and in England," Klaus whispered. "I have very loyal vampires who are willing to protect her."
The image of his niece floated into his mind as her brown locks and brown eyes floated between them.
"Thank you for making sure of that whenever I've been neutralized," Elijah managed to say before giving his brother a manly hug. "Thank you."
Stefan had to ruin the moment though and Elena wanted to slaughter him or even string him up by his toes, bleeding him dry.
"Who are you talking about?" Stefan's voice was still dull, as though he didn't seem to have any emotions or anything.
"None of your business Stefan," Elena bit out angrily before Adeline hugged her.
"Stefan? Mind your own business," Adeline barked at him angrily as she never liked him even as a Ripper. "Go back to kissing Rebekah's ass as well as Nik's."
"Damn girl," Elena said smirking. "Angry?"
"He's here isn't he?" She asked sweetly but her eyes looked like blue flames. "Why is he even here?"
"He saved his brother's life in exchange for him being my loyal lapdog," Klaus told her. "If I had known Katerina would bolt off with the cure to a wolf bite and not return I would have gone myself."
"I'm going to get dressed in something I'm more comfortable in and go with Elijah and Elena," Adeline told Klaus who nodded, as she looked ready to rip into Stefan's chest cavity and utterly annihilate his heart to the point that it wouldn't regenerate. "I'll see you soon with Gloria." She added before going into the dressing room to change.
"So you know?" Elijah asked as he watched his little sister and his lover walk together with linked arms as he held an umbrella over them to shield them from the rain. "Yet she didn't say the keycode."
"Kol or Sage must have forgotten that those who practiced magic or are magic cannot be made to forget as the loopholes are tremendous," Adeline told him. "With…Elena, she was the target yet when Klaus broke his curse it would make the spell disintegrate at a rapid pace hence her headaches that were borderline migraines because her memories were coming back in rapid succession. I practiced before and after turning and was neutralized at the time for nearly outing myself as a Heretic."
"We have a plan in play," Elena told her as she smiled at her. "First part was to see how much they knew about Kol and Sage being together-which due to the spell blocked it so they didn't know-which means that the knowledge of the gold dagger is still unknown to the three of them as well as Sage and Kol being intimate."
"Who has a part in this plan of yours?" Adeline asked as she looked up at her big brother who she adored.
"Marcel," Elijah ticked off his fingers, "Katerina-for clemency," he added. "Then the rest are unknown as I don't know who they are."
"I want in on this plan," Adeline told them as she stood in front of them and twirled around, letting the rain fall on her. The water droplets fell onto her cream skin and soaking her through. "I want to be free to be with her."
"We will make sure that you can be with her," Elena promised as she held Elijah's hand. "Let's get you to our hotel room so you can get into dryer clothes."
Nearly two hours later the trio appeared in Gloria's shop in dryer clothes-Elena in a long sleeve light pink shirt, a knee length black skirt and matching black leggings paired with white suede ankle boots.
Adeline was in a blue and black baseball like t-shirt depicting a few books and an eagle while the back said 'Ravenclaw' that she paired with denim skinny jeans and brown boots.
Elijah was the one who surprised his other siblings-he had on a black long sleeve t-shirt under a dark blue trench coat, black jeans that he paired with black steel toed boots.
"That is Elijah right?" Klaus stuttered as he saw his brother looking comfortable and Elena nodded. "You got him looking normal. How?"
"I'm persuasive," she told him simply. "Very persuasive but we're here to talk to Gloria." The dark skinned woman looked at her curiously. "I'm Elena Gilbert."
Gloria nodded before she eyed Adeline.
"She's family and Elijah's lover," the female hybrid told her. "There's nothing she wouldn't do for family even if it means turning them away from a toxic relationship."
"We're looking for something," Elijah told her as she eyed him with a wary expression that made Elena's blood boil. "Something belonging to the Original Witch. Can you find it?"
"I'd need something to find it," she said before turning to Klaus. "Got something or someone I can use to trace it?"
"Me," Rebekah said as she sat on the table in a pair of shorts and a tanktop, uncaring about the sudden rainstorm outside. "It was mine after all and I did wear it before it was stolen."
Gloria took her hand and did a locator spell that the two Heretics could feel though it wasn't as good as it should be.
"I need to make a quick call okay," Elena suddenly said as she kissed Elijah and pulled out her cellphone. "I'll be quick." She walked outside and dialed a familiar number. Tapping her fingers on the brick wall, feeling the skin scrape on the rough edges as well as heal from the abrasions she ended up hanging up as the sound of a cellphone was going off near her. Turning, she smirked at Katherine who was staring at her with a raised eyebrow and her hair perfectly curled. "Where's the elder Salvatore?" She asked and she pointed to a diner. "Dining alone hopefully."
"A compelled waitress is his only companion and I told him that if he hurt her I'll kill Isabella or basically compel her to sleep with anyone but him," Katherine told her. "I know what to do. Dark witch not willing to do what you all want? I'll eat her." Elena flashed her a grin and walked inside where Elijah smirked, knowing what was going to happen.
"Why don't we leave Gloria to her business?" Adeline hummed. "It's best this way and she doesn't try to hex Klaus or make anymore eyes at Elijah before I wear them as a decoration around my neck." She added as her eyes were on the old witch.
"I want my necklace," Rebekah snapped like a toddler who was told not to do something bad. "I want it now!"
"Excuse me how old are you?" Elena asked with a bit of snark. "You are over a thousand, right?" Rebekah nodded. "Stop throwing a childish temper tantrum when you're older and should have grown out of them."
Rebekah wanted to rip Elena's head off until Stefan grabbed her hand and led her out with Klaus, talking about going for 'dinner'.
Just before Adeline left the room, allowing her brother and Elena to stay she took a glance of curled hair and blood red lips, causing her to turn and see Katherine Pierce sinking her fangs into Gloria's neck before she snapped it.
"Addie," Katherine breathed as she saw her lover for the first time in ninety years. "You're here." The brunette wanted to hug her but she wasn't sure if Adeline wanted it but was surprised as Adeline flashed to her, kissing her.
"One day," the blonde whispered once they parted. "One day we will be together. I promise."
Elijah decided to get the body and with Elena's help they made it seem as though Gloria cleared out while turning Gloria's body to ash.
"Hopefully Isabella is still in school," Elena huffed as she looked up at the sky. "I'd hate for her to do summer school to make up for everything she's missed." Elijah grinned as he looked up.
"You'd just compel them to believe she did everything and that her GPA is still right in the middle," he reminded her. "Then you'd compel a few girls to throw lustful looks and flirty innuendos to the Salvatores before having her walk into the Boardinghouse to catch them in the act."
"Or a timed compulsion on Stefan to leave her alone," Elena added. "I've seen the looks Stefan and Caroline gave each other before you entered into the scene or did you forget that you met me before her?" She turned to stare at him who looked down at her, chuckling.
"How could I forget meeting you in that abandoned house in a beautiful Christmas dress that looked a little bit too short," his eyes trailed her form with a heated glance. "I was feeling territorial for some reason and then I took you in all the ways that truly mattered."
"We never broke our deals and the others you did," she hummed and she kissed him. "Come on sweetheart, if we leave them alone for any more alone time I have a feeling Nik will walk in on an entirely different scene he didn't need to see." He chuckled.
Walking back into the room, the blonde and the brunette were touching foreheads as the blonde whispered a spell and the bracelet around Katherine's wrist began to glow.
"You will be protected Kat," Adeline whispered. "Then we will go to Paris or even go back to England. Whichever you want."
AN: For what Adeline Mikaelson looks like-picture Amanda Seyfried and yes, I made her a Heretic as well!
