It was the morning of Cisco's first therapy appointment, after the incident of him taking the pills and hurting himself. He was nervous about it; he was worried about admitting what he had done and what the consequences of his actions might be. There may be none as he told Caitlin about what he had done and hadn't actually taken any of them. Caitlin had been reassuring him last night before they went to bed that it would be okay, he tried to believe her, but he couldn't help still feeling incredibly anxious. It had taken him a while to fall asleep, tossing and turning anxiety and bad thoughts spiralling in his mind. He finally fell asleep when Caitlin pulled him into herself and wrapped her arms around him tightly, she hummed softly to him a familiar and tune and focusing on both that and her heartbeat he managed to calm his mind enough to fall asleep. Now though, he was awake a good hour before Caitlin's alarm was going to go off, and no matter how hard he tried he couldn't go back to sleep. He carefully rolled out of the doctor's arms trying to wake her from her slumber and reached for the glass off water that Cait had left him on the bedside table the night before. He took a couple of sips trying to calm himself. It seemed to work for a moment, so he took a couple more and then rolled back over so he was facing Caitlin again. He lay there for a moment before his stomach began to churn with anxiety and nervous tears pricked into his eyes. He felt like he was going to cry, and he wanted the anxious feeling to go away, he shook Caitlin's shoulder a little, "Cait," he whispered, trying to wake her up but not disturb her, she stirred a little but didn't actually wake up, "Cait," he tried again a little louder this time. This seemed to do it as she stirred, once again, and her eyes slowly fluttered open,
"Ugh, what time is it?" she groaned slightly, feeling it was much to early to be awake,
"Six forty-five," he informed her, she groaned again, before looking slightly more awake. Realising there must be a reason that Cisco woke her up this early she looked at him with worry and concern,
"What are you doing awake this early? Are you alright?" she questioned, Cisco shook his head, letting her know that he wasn't alright. "What is it hon? What's wrong?" she asked, reaching out an arm so she could pull him closer to her,
"Therapy," he mumbled, looking embarrassed. He had gone to many sessions before, but this one felt as bad as the first, maybe even worse. Caitlin nodded knowingly, he had told her all about his anxiety's about this particular therapy session last night and she understood why he was concerned. Although she truly believed it would be alright.
"I know your scared hon, but its all going to be okay, just you wait and see," she told him gently her voice still thick with sleep. He nodded and buried his head into her chest, listening to the sound of her heartbeat, trying to calm the nerves that were still going around his body. "How about we just lay here and relax for a little while, even if you can't get back to sleep, relaxing will do you good," she said.
"Okay," Cisco agreed, not pulling away from Caitlin's chest. The doctor shifted slightly to reach her phone and switch on a podcast, so they had something to listen to before she wrapped her other arm around the scientist, so he was in a big hug and the two relaxed together until Cait's alarm went off.
It had been a very typical morning of work; everyone was working hard trying to come up with effective ways to change the timeline and beat Savitar. Cisco had worked in Caitlin's lab that day as she had a lot of tests to run, and he just moved his equipment between the two labs so he could stay with her. The lock was still on the cupboard, but in a way, it made the scientist feel safe. When it came time for Cisco and Caitlin to leave, they waved goodbye to the others who were in Starlabs and grabbed their things ready to go to Cisco's therapy appointment. Cisco had been silent the entire ride there but when Cait parked her car and made to get out, he broke that silence, "C-Cait," he whimpered, tears threating to spill over, the doctor quickly got out of the vehicle and made her way to the other side, opening the car door and pulling the man into a hug,
"It's okay, Cisco, you're okay, it's all going to be fine," she reassured him. It took a couple of minutes for him to calm down but when he finally did, he pulled away from the brunette and took her hand, letting her pull him to his feet and be guided into the building. He couldn't find his voice when they reached the check-in, so Caitlin had to do that for him, and he pretty much sat in her lap when they were in the waiting room together. If Cisco had been in any other state of mind, he would have been embarrassed, being a grown man sitting in his best friends lap like a child, but she comforted and reduced his nerves, so he didn't care. When he was finally called in to the room, Caitlin gave his hand a quick squeeze and a reassuring smile, telling him that she would be there when he was done. He nodded at her with a nervous look and then followed his therapist out of the waiting room.
Cisco had come out with the biggest smile, nothing bad had happened like Cait had told him, his therapist wanted Cait to keep a close eye on him, like she already had been and if his situation became worse, that would be when they would think about alternative options to try and help him recover, but Cisco wasn't planning to let it happen again, so he was feeling confident that they wouldn't need these alternative options. He practically skipped over to Caitlin, "It went well then?" she asked, giggling lightly at his smile and skip.
"Yep," he popped the p, indicating how happy and relived he truly felt. Caitlin laughed gently again and got up from her seat, Cisco immediately placed his hand in her own,
"Can we have waffles for dinner?" he asked innocently, a smile still present on his face,
"Waffles? For dinner?" Caitlin pretended to be shocked at the request,
"Yep," he popped the p again,
"Well, if that's what you want, I guess we can arrange that," she told him,
"Yes! Cait you're the best!" he told her and gave her a quick hug, before releasing her hand and climbing into the car. Caitlin felt herself blush a little, before climbing into the drivers seat herself, it was an amazing feeling to see Cisco so happy.
