I couldn't help my wide smile as the Qartheen leaders the thirteen as they are known stood on the docks clear looks of fear and awe painted on their faces. Heck they didn't even know we were here to conquer Essos yet. All they knew is that we were rich as every one of the 10,000 Unsullied were carrying Valyrian Steel and me and my husband were wearing full sunsteel armor and weapons. Heck they didn't even know that we could make as much as we wanted as before we left the thousand Isles we looted them all finding vast treasures including more dragon eggs, gryphon eggs, and 10 cargo holds worth of Sunsteel ores.
Yeah I could tell this was gonna be great as over the last 8 months my husband and I had pretty much mastered our magic through the use of knowledge enhancing potions and rituals as well as these little blocks labeled insta-know. Our son now two was in the manor trunk disillusioned in the captains cabin under the care of two nanny elves. He had just shown his accidental magic and was floating his toys whenever he could. With five dragons I couldn't see how we would ever lose really especially when I have several hundred dragon eggs unhatched and thousands of other bondable creatures I could hatch over time. It would be sad if one of the dragons die but as we are only tied enough to absorb the magic as a one time event lengthening our lives everytime we hatch a dragon we could always hatch more. Not that we'd ever risk their lives needlessly I loved Furystorm, Sapphire, Night,
Saphyrus, and Bloodstorm. I also loved our Gryphons Alecto, Crosis, and Dagger. Our single griffin Raedric I cared for but he was clearly my sons beast. We quickly ordered the dragons to land in a pentagram shape around the city while we sought to diplomatically take over while having the threat of blood and fire overhead. Me and my husband easily climbed aboard our Gryphons and took 12 Unsullied with us one mounted upon a Gryphon as well and headed to shore. I ordered the Unsullied to shore first and my husband and I had our Gryphons take up position behind them I silently cast a translation charm on us just in case and called out. Honestly I was trying hard not to choke on the stench of the poor drainage of the city itself while speaking the words.
"Who among you do you name as leaders? Do you have a King anymore?"
"We are led by the 13 families we have no true king we are the free city of Quarth who are you?"
"I am Rayna Lightningbear nee Sunbringer of Houses Sunbringer and Lightningbear this is my husband Robert Lightningbear."
"Lies you speak the Ligtningbears and the Sunbringer died in the doom and that is a well known fact lady." This came from a dirty peasant boy who was immediately smacked by his mother and told to shut his mouth as we were clearly not lying as our eyes and hair give us away as being honest.
"I am the Spice King milord and lady I would offer you to break your fast with me and my family as well as discuss why you are here and how you survived the doom."
a large male with amber eyes spoke in a gravelly tone. "My name is Adrioch. Please follow me." With that he led us through the city and to a grand manor he led us through a house that spoke of wealth and out to a long table in the gardens. There he introduced his wife Leandra and his daughter Vellana who had apparently just flowered how lovely. We all sat down to a lovely breakfast of spiced meats and fruits with some delightful spiced wine. Afterwards he led me and my husband to a nice study and had us take a seat.
"First off lets start with what do you want from Qarth?"
"What is the current political climate of Qarth and what would you see done with it?" I asked clearly with my husband sitting beside me simply showing I was going to be our spokesperson. Pretty smart as I was more about the political maneuvering and he set up battle plans. He chose how we would arrive and to have the dragons form such a shape around the city. Now I would hopefully negotiate to not have to set these people on fire.
"Currently me and the silver and copper kings are tired of the slavery and corruption. We hate to see the poor of the city but we know if we were to act to change the status quo Pyat Pree and Xaro Xhoan Daxos would kill us all with ease."
"So basically if I kill them both we would be able to help this city."
"If you kill Pyat Pree you should know that all of the Palace of the Undying will be after you."
"Who lives there what do they look like I asked with horror on my face."
"They are pale with blue lips and eyes from drinking of the shade of evening they are sorcerers who have lost a lot of their power."
"Oh gods your playing host to man eaters the torn souls of Valyria." I gasped in horror "What ever do you mean milady."
"My husband and I are what's known as dragon souls we live for as long as we do not sustain a mortal wound we have seen these creatures before. They come from a profane ritual that is designed to drain the life and magic of another sorcerer but it failed and turned all the participants into flesh eating creatures the shade of evening is a poisonous drink that makes ones mind put them in a deep trance and allows the foul beasts to eat you alive and make you one of them.
Where are they at I must go at once to kill them all before they know I am here as they will attack once they are found out."
"I shall send Pyat Pree to them at once with a note that says nothing that way you know they are all there only Pyat Pree leaves the Palace of the Undying these days."
"No if he's not in there it will matter not as he is but one of the creatures clearly he still has his ability to hide his features at will unlike the others.
I and my husband here shall go and use dragon magic to contain them in the building before setting it ablaze in holy fire as that is the only way to kill these beasts." I spoke with clear conviction of my words knowing them to be true as one of the insta-knowledge cubes I used had all about Valyria in it.
"Of course return here when you are done and we may discuss what you want of Qarth further."
"It will be done. Now can you have a guard lead us there under the assumption that we simply wish to meet these so called sorcerers and compare magics with them."
"I can do that. Cathar come here lead these folks to the Palace of the Undying and then leave them there they wish to consult with our sorcerers."
Me and my husband joined up with the unsullied outside and had our Gryphons travel back to the ship to protect it with our Griffin. We followed the guard Cathar to a gloomy looking tower with a building attached at the center of the city and then bowed before running as fast as he could away.
Me and my husband got to work casting a a shield to keep the holy fire in and another shield to keep the people in the circle until dead. I smirked at him and he looked at me and spoke.
"You ready Rayna this ain't gonna be easy we have to make sure that all the flames we cast go directly in the bubble and be ready with you faendwater spell in case any of the fire escapes."
"Gotcha my love shall we we seem to be gathering an audience."
I was right a few of the peasantry had arrived to see what was going on I figured I best make a speech before they tried to kill us for setting these monsters on fire.
"People of Qarth please no that the reason nobody comes out of this Palace of Nightmares is because it is housing man eaters of Old Valyria. These monsters will no longer live here or anywhere for they are not sorcerers they are man eaters they are foul beasts and the Spice King found out their secret and barely escaped with his life he has asked us to slay these foul beasts before they can eat all of Qarth now that they know the ruse is over and they can no longer hide here. These Zombies will harm you good people no further."
The people upon hearing that the uncrowned leader of the 13 ordered this and was almost eaten alive himself cheered and started chanting "BURN!BURN!BURN!".
My husband just gave me a grin and I answered it with a superior smirk and we both intoned "FIENDFYRE" whilst aiming our wands at the building. A hydra made of fire burst from our wands and almost exploded our bubble before impacting the building with a loud BOOM!. Immediately shrieks filled the air as the foul creatures poured out of the building just to hit the barrier in futility as the fire consumed them all. I intoned "Faendwater" and doused the flames to survey the damages. The few surviving Undying were quickly dispatched with a few well placed cutting curses. From behind me I heard a scream of rage and had just a second to turn and see what must be Pyat Pree rushing us his face turning to reveal him to be the same type of monster we just killed. He didn't make it to me before his head flew off curtesy of my husbands Valyrian Sunsteel Sword that he had named Sinestra.
We quickly made our way back to Adrioch's manor and were led to the study. I simply looked at him and nodded to indicate that they were dead and the problem had been sorted.
"I hope you don't mind but I had to make it seem like you hired us to kill them after they nearly ate you but I didn't feel like getting dismembered by the city folk." I said bluntly "Not a problem I shall endorse such a statement to ensure you aren't harmed but now onto why you are here. Why are you here? What do you want of Qarth?"
"We want to reunite Essos under our banner and to rule as Emperor and Empress. To that end we would make you King in Qarth and the only knee you would bend is to us." I said all this enjoying the shock on his face.
"And if I refuse?"
"We kill all the leaders and use the dragons to employ whoever we want and rule over Qarth and Astapor which we took over on the way here and they didn't even know we had dragons until after the takeover." I said with a vicious smile.
"Right then I have no wish for me and my family to die so I will gladly bend the knee to you especially as everyone else will bend to me. I still need you to kill Xaro Xhoan Daxos before anything can happen the other kings will have to become lords but they knew that when they backed me against Xaro Xhoan Daxos and Pyat Pree." He said all of this very fast so I motioned to the Unsullied that came in with us to track this man and give him a note to meet here at the kings house to discuss what happened to the Palace of Ashes as the city had already taken to calling it.
"There he will have no choice but to come here as he will want to know what happened when he shows up I kill him the second he's through the door. Any Questions?"
"Yeah how are you gonna kill him he is especially paranoid and very good with a sword."
"Oh I was just gonna use magic I don't care about fighting fair I care about winning and taking over so that we can make this a nation of equals all under us."
"Very well then I see him approaching the house I hope you can do what you say you can do."
A servant led him to the office and within moments a knock was heard upon the door my husband and I stepped to an alcove within the office that was clearly used for writing official documents and kept ourselves silent as Adrioch opened the door and offered him a seat. As soon as he sat down and Adrioch stood clear I snapped out a quick "Sectumsempra" at the mans throat and watched gleefully as he bled out from his throat being torn open.
"Well that solves that problem lets gather the soon to be lords and make the announcement after that me and my husband will go around the city and cast spells to improve drainage and rebuild the housing sections to make everyone have proper walls and such. After that we will stay over the next five moons to ensure hospitals schools and a court hall be built. We shall give you the official title Magister so that way you will be a King but still known as under an emperor.
Other than that once we are done here we will begin our conquest of Essos itself." I said all of this very fast and he began writing notes to the other kings to come to his manor at once. Soon the other leaders arrived and were all told the situation they all quickly bent the knee and we went to the announcement square to tell the city folk. As we marched with Adrioch leading us to the square I quickly cast a Sonorous on Adrioch and he asked all city residents to come to the square. We waited in place with all the lords standing in front of us with Adrioch between us and them; for about an hour and soon all the city residents were accounted for. I had Adrioch start the show as they would know him first. "Great people's of Qarth today a great victory was had and a new leadership of this great city has been decided the new rulers of Astapor have come and freed us from the flesh eaters and their allies. As such our great city leaders have decided to join what is surely to be a New Empire of Essosi these people have dragons and great sense. I am happy to introduce Empress Rayna Lightningbear and Emperor Robert Lightningbear Long may they rule." This was greeted by shocked silence to which I decided to give my first speech as Empress which I knew would outright win their loyalties.
"Great people's of Qarth I am not here to be another Targaryen conqueror of blood and fire. My first rule as Empress will be thus all slaves of Qarth will now be considered free people's and all those who partake of slave trade may choose to either leave Qarth or find a new living. A naval fleet will be constructed and so will an army former slaves will all be given the choice to join those or to find their own work. I shall also commission the building of a healing hall that the Maesters of this great city will either work at and be paid a proper living salary or they will leave. I will have 3 schools built to educate children, flowered women and marriageable men, and adults without any ability to read or write. Today me and my husband will go around the city and use our magic to repair and rebuild this great city to its full potential. A sundial will be constructed in five different places. A proper schedule for merchants who have people in their employ will be put in place. Prisoners will have a proper standard of living and programs to rehabilitate them into our society. You may follow us to see the repairing and rebuilding process. Also as we intend to conquer Essos and make a new Essosi Empire and as such we have decided that Arioch of the Spice trade shall be the Magister of this great city and the other previous rulers will be the new lordly houses. Come before me my lords and Magister Bend the Knee and swear fealty to the new Essosi Empire." This was met with cheers through the crowd as they realized we would not be conquering without care we would be conquering because we care. The lords and Adrioch bent the knee and swore fealty to us and we then proceeded to walk around the city bringing all the buildings to full glory. Nothing was left crumbling and everyone had pretty equal housing standard. A sewage system was put into place with a great staff ritual between me and my husband at the center of the city. A furiously overpowered scouring and cleansing charm from my staff left the whole city and everything in it spotless. We went down to the docks and quickly had them delightfully rebuilt and added to. After that we quickly went to the Palace of Ashes and with a a few construction charms and building spells me and my husband erected a castle in its place and set up a wing to house us and then bequeathed it to Adrioch to rule from as Magister and told him to simply leave our wing alone as it was warded to keep everyone who wasn't us out. From there we collected our son from the ship and settled in for the evening.
In the following moons we made Qarth the hub of Essos and prepared our army and navy to march on the rest of Essos. First we sent Ambassadors to a few places nearby all of which bent the knee without force. We then approached the Dothraki with the offer to join or die they chose to wage war. They amassed 50,000 Blood Riders and 5 Khals under one great Khal to attempt to wipe us out. We took our dragons and set them all ablaze while the unsullied and former slaves of Qarth tore the fleeing riders apart on the ground after the dragons made a circle of fire that they would have to flee through to get away. They simply circled the circle of fire and cut down any that made it out. The next few moons were spent improving the cities who bent the knee willingly and training our armies to be able to take Meereen. Me and my husband used magic to build 30 warships of varying sizes with 5 galleons to lead the fleet all were outfitted with a rudimentary form of cannon that my husband and I had managed to come together and make using balls covered in explosion runes and a barrel with an ejection runes that could be tapped by a special activation glove. These gloves became part of the naval uniform which was all wore valyrian steel armor with a Golden Dragon on the breastplate. The Army had A White dragon with lightning wings embossed on the breastplate for the leaders, a red dragon for officers, and a black dragon for regular soldiers. We used portkeys to have all of the ships appear right outside of slavers bay after me and my husband took the dragons to take the city.
Unsurprisingly the Meereen leaders refused to bend the knee and were quickly roasted I gave a similar speech to what I had in Qarth to a roaring cheer of the people. We moved and made Mereen the capital of our growing empire. We repaired the city walls and tore down slavers bay. Slavers bay became a naval base and housed the first fleet as it was being called. All of our ships had ice breakers on them which confused all until we said we had made them similar to our travel ships in case the need ever came we could lead our enemies into the shivering sea and we would not sink whereas they would. Soon after Yunkai, Tolos, Elyria, Mantarys, and Volantis bent the knee to our empire. The leaders of Morosh and Saath had to be killed off and replaced but the rest of the people were quite happy with that. We found a massive den of the flesh eaters inside the ruins of old Valyria and burned them all. I used my new ritual granted mind reading ability to discover that they had a few other colonies hidden in a few islands around the world much to my horror. The conquering was put on hold for two moons while me and my husband traveled on our dragons and burned all the colonies they had to the ground and rendered the beasts extinct. Myr and Tyrosh both bent the knee and the disputed lands decided to fall under our rule. The step stones and the Isle of Lyr happily joined us when they realised the alternative was the mad king who liked to set fire to stuff. The southern Isles had to have the whole leadership replaced as the too refused to kneel. The people were mad as fuck at first until we announced that their leaders had been hoarding enough gold that nobody should ever be sleeping cold in their coffers while pretending to only have a third of it. We then gave them proper drainage, hospitals, schools, a court house, and a housing standard before heading north to Pentos. Pentos bent the knee quickly as they had heard of us already and had sent people to scout our cities and decided they wanted to be part of it. Braavos unlike Pentos gladly joined our empire for protection from raiders on the high seas. Then everyone else fell like dominoes and everything that wasn't the Yi Ti or Westeros was ours.

I honestly couldn't believe it. We had conquered all of Essos and had made Meereen our capital. Slavery was outlawed and all of our cities were clean and educated.
It had only taken 20 moons to do it and have all of our cities completely loyal. All of the Magister were under a magical loyalty oath and so were all of the citizens of our empire. Nobody would ever be able to rebel from within as the oaths were bloodline oaths to always serve and be loyal to us. We had replaced the symbol of Mareen the harpy with golden dragons and the green and gold dragon banners flew all across Essos. We had had to kill off all of the Dothraki as they refused to stop selling slaves and had been massacred in blood and fire. The people of Asshai worshiped my son as some sort of god so I knew they would never rebel even without the oath still they took it anyways just to be safe. My son was four and learning how to ride his griffin which he had named Louie after a dog we had had before we ever came here. I also should note my son was discovered to have an eidetic memory and it helped him greatly in his studies.
The Unsullied and other former slaves formed most of our vast army and Navy. We had at least 20 Naval fighting ships equipped with rudimentary cannons in every port. Our army numbered in the hundreds of thousands. We had an ally with the Yhi Ti people who loved the fact that another Emperor had risen and were gladly trading with us. I had introduced the different wix and mundane alcohols and how to make them and it was one of the main trade items between us and Westeros.
We also cheapened the process for making glass and put the price to a more affordable rate for the cheaper made glass. The Myr were happy to have another way to trade and make even more money off the common folk who could afford the cheaper sand glass as it was being called. Overall my empire seemed well in hand and me and my husband were very happily expecting twins here in the next few months. It was during this time we would get our first ambassador from the Westerosi House of Targaryen from across the narrow sea. The message was simple King Aerys II would like to host me and my family at Kings Landing. I sent back a message saying that as soon as I am recovered from being with child here in 6 moons we would make the trip and arrive during the summer in Kings Landing.
During our conquest we had hatched 15 more Gryphons and 12 Griffins along with 4 more dragons bringing our total to 18 Gryphons 13 Griffins, and 9 Dragons most likely the dragon king had heard of this. I also discovered my house's ancient house words "Officium, Cura, Amor" meaning Duty, Responsibility, Love.
I had these words inscribed upon the doors of the great pyramid we had made our home. The great Pyramid had been remodeled to have 100 floors and the base of it was the size of several three story houses deep underground with a large house sized tunnel leading to an opening in the top of the pyramid this area housed the dragons while the next several underground floors held all sorts of creatures. The ground floor was an elegant ball/throne/feasting room that was divided into three sections. One with long tables for food another with musical instruments and a dance floor. In front of this was a series of thrones 2 large and 3 small with room for several more. Once a month people of Meereen would be able to speak to us to air grievances. We set up small councils in all the major cities and visited each city once a month to do the same. We also set a man named Leon and each of his 12 brothers to be stewards for the major cities. Each of them were given an enchanted parchment to write back and forth to Leon with to keep us informed of anything that needed immediate attention. I also set up a moot to be held each year with all of the lands nobles and councilmen would receive a portkey to and from Meereen to hold court with us and air any problems and ask for anything they may need. This would obviously last two weeks and include a festival after the second day as only the first 2 would be for courtly decisions the rest of the time would be to increase the ties between different cities noblemen and women. We decided to name it the Sun Festival and had already conducted 2 with great success. Hmm maybe I could get the Westeros king and family to come here for this years Sun festival as we would arrive in Kings Landing roughly early summer and the festival we would portkey to during our summer stay there as they had agreed to house us for the four moons of summer. I smiled as I got ready for the day in typical Meereen style which I had come to love. I wore a simple halter style strap over my right breast leaving the left bare and my rounding stomach visible on the bottom was a flowing skirt with a slit up both sides a few gems on my nice strappy sandals and I was ready for the day. I greeted my husband with a kiss and a smile as I took my seat to break our fast together and my son Wilhelm who was almost 5 name days old charged in and sat down chattering excitedly about how the maid told him of the crazy king and how we were gonna visit him and asking if I was gonna kill him to and take over Westeros.
I smiled and told him no we were not taking over Westeros we already had enough to rule over. I said they would be allies like the Yhi Ti are son and he nodded before asking if I was gonna kill the king so his son could take over. To this I just laughed as I had thought about it and I honestly wasn't sure if Aerys was as mad as the rumors painted him I would certainly put him down but I would have to do it in a way that I wouldn't get caught. Most likely a quick imperious to Tywin Lannister may need to happen or his taster yeah his royal taster would be best a simple vial of basilisk venom slipped to him and a quick imperio and poof no more mad king and the calm prince becomes the calm king. However cutting down the Lannisters before they ever come to power seemed like a good idea.
I finished breaking my fast before heading to my runes chamber and grabbed a bag of inscribed dragon bones off the wall and tossed them into a bowl and started reading the results of what would happen if I framed Tywin vs if I framed the taster. If I frame the taster Cersei Lannister poisons the Dornish princess that is married to Prince Rhaegar while she is pregnant and gets away with it. She then becomes a terrible queen who murders Rhaegar after birthing their second child. She then marries her brother and starts an incestous line with him and puts their incest baby Joffrey on the throne. Joffrey is stupid and wakes the white walkers with the help of Daenerys Targaryen who was exiled upon her flowering along with her brother Viserys so that they couldn't take the throne.
Mad they choose to start the long night early to end us all. I stopped looking after that and looked at the part where we frame Tywin and saw that Jaime refuses his name and Cersei is thrown into a Qartheen Prison the long night still seems to come eventually but it takes much longer. Well I guess I knew this was gonna be much harder I would have to use the imperious potion on Tywin as he was to well known for mental prowess and I didn't want to chance the spell failing.
Well now I didn't need to worry I had 2 moons until I gave birth and 6 moons before I would have to even go to Westeros and I wasn't even sure on the level of madness that the supposed mad king possessed. I went down to my private study and ate lunch there while going over the empires financial paperworks and approving various trade shipments for the various cities and holds as they were now called. From there I went and enjoyed time in the gardens till dinner. We ate a nice meal of spiced meats and other such things before heading to bed.
A month flew past and I gave early birth to twin girls that I named Maya and Nadia. They both ended up with my golden eyes and as such took the last name Sunbringer to represent this fact. Also I really did need to make sure both mine and my husbands houses continued in this world. They both glowed gold signifying that they had bonded with two of the four unbonded dragons within the keep as the golden scale appeared below their left eyes. Both of them were adorable little poop machines.
The first few months were a nightmare with the feedings and nappies I don't think I would have survived if not for the nanny elves and a milk drawing charm that allowed me to bottle and preserve enough to occasionally get some sleep. Soon enough though it was time for the journey to kings landing as the girls were only five months old and were just barely crawling we would have to sail there luckily the journey would only take a half moon according to the captain. We spent the next week packing some dress armor that we had created along with other essentials for the trip. On the day of I gathered a sack full of gems and gold worth about a million to go with us as well as some select jewels for Rhaella and magicked together some baskets with fruits and grains under preservation charms for the people of Kings Landing. I did all this under the premise to establish the tradition of giving to the nobel and townsfolk alike if you were a visiting royal. Soon enough we were in a litten and being taken to the docks with about 500 former Unsullied and 100 Creed members serving as a guard. I still remember when they swore to guard our family and I was happy to see the Creed had survived the doom and could now commit to their purpose in life as royal guards of the Valyrian royal houses. But soon our main family ship The Storm was readied. It was a massive Galleon with an Icebreaker on the front and a reinforced hull that had interlocking wood and steel to create a sturdier type of ship. Three massive masts towered overhead with giant green sails bedecked with a large golden dragon in flight towards a sun surrounded by a lightning storm. The crew was full of cheer as we loaded the cargo hold with the stuff and set sail towards kings landing.

A/N Up next we meet and greet the mad king gift his city with better drainage and give gifts to the people claiming it to be a valyrian royal tradition which it will be and I will make sure to pull out a book about "Old Valyrian" stuff. Also for those who actually like Lyanna Stark note that she won't appear till later as she is not with Rhaegar and Rhaegar fell for a Dornish Princess. Lyanna is Married to Jaime Lannister and the Starks and the Lannisters don't get along but pretend to be civil for the sake of burying the hatchet. All that will be upturned when I frame Tywin as a Kingslayer. Hope you all like this chapter I will write more soon.
