Epilogue:
Cisco had packed up all his things from Caitlin's apartment. It had been five months since he had lived on his own, but his recovery was going extremely well and both Caitlin and his therapist thought he was ready to be on his own again. A part of him felt happy, this meant that they could trust him and that he could keep himself safe which was real progress, and it was something he should be extremely proud of. The other part of him was scared, he was used to having Caitlin there if he needed her, if he felt like he couldn't be safe she looked after him and if he needed comfort she was there. Still, he only lived like a ten-minute drive from her, and she was only one phone call away, or one breach away. Plus, they were going to still hang out all the time and they worked together, he wasn't going to be truly alone. "Got everything?" Caitlin asked him, appearing at his side,
"I think so," he said,
"Well, if you don't, I'll bring it to you tomorrow or you could always breach back and get it, just please a little warning if you do that," she told him. Cisco laughed a little remembering the time he had scared the life out of her when he breached into her living room without any warning. She had been sitting on the couch and she had screamed when he just suddenly appeared. That had been before he had come to stay with her, her laughter suddenly turned to sadness, and he felt himself beginning to cry. "Cisco hon?" Caitlin asked gently seeing his shoulders beginning to shake,
"C-Cait," he stuttered out, he looked up and she could see the tears streaming down his cheeks,
"Oh Cisco, come here," she sat down on the couch, and he sat down next to her, letting himself be pulled into her arms, cuddling close to the doctor. "What's happening hon? What's going on in that head of yours?" she questioned softly. It took a couple of minutes for him to compose himself enough but when he did, he spoke,
"What if I'm not ready, what if I need you," he spoke quickly still crying silently,
"Sweetheart, I'm not going anywhere, I will be right here if you need me, you know you can call me at any time or breach here if you need to. Or I can come to you and be there in ten minutes." She reassured him, "But hon, you are ready, you can do this, things are better than they were right?" He nodded, "So, you can do this," she told him. He nodded again, still crying but looking and feeling slightly better, when he had stopped crying and composed himself, he got up, it was time to go. "I'll see you at Starlabs tomorrow," she said,
"Yeah, see you then," he replied, they hugged quickly, once more and then Cisco opened a breach and stepped through. He was once again in his own apartment.
That night Cisco was lying in bed. Caitlin had been right; he could do this he was ready. He got through the afternoon by himself no problem. He had showered, had dinner and spent some time relaxing, but now he was in bed by himself, and he was missing his best friend, he needed the comfort she provided him, to help him go to sleep, it felt dumb, but he was already missing her. He picked up his phone, "Hello," her voice came through tired and soft,
"Cait," he spoke,
"Cisco, are you alright hon?" she asked quickly,
"Yeah, I just um, can't sleep, I miss you," he rambled out,
"Aww hon, I miss you too, I'll still see you tomorrow," she reminded him,
"Yeah…" he trailed off, he didn't know what to say,
"How about I talk to you until you fall asleep?" she suggested, Cisco immediately felt better with that idea,
"Yes please," he said. Caitlin spoke about everything and nothing at once, again bringing out her talent at doing so. Listening to her calming voice, Cisco eventually fell asleep. Caitlin stayed on the phone for a moment longer, making sure he wouldn't need her again and then hung up. She put her phone down and got into bed herself. She was so proud of her best friend.
