It all started after the final battle against the flag smashers Sam offered Bucky stay over since his apartment is a literal mess

Bucky tried to refuse but he couldn't when AJ and Cass gave him those little puppy dog eyes begging him to stay at least one more night

He let out a sigh smiling and excepting the offer,he would've slept on the couch like before but Sharon was sleeping there,her injury being more important Sam told Bucky that he could stay in his room

At that Bucky couldn't except,sleeping in Sam's house is one thing sleeping in Sam's room is another thing he couldn't take

He said he can sleep on the floor but Sarah pinched his ears and said she's making sure he sleeps in a bed and that if she sees him sleeping on the floor again she's locking his apartment and making him go to his therapist again

The insane fear of having to go back to Doctor Raynor had him except having to sleep with the Samuel Thomas Wilson the new Captain America and Bucky's crush

Bucky told Sarah he didn't need a blanket since he doesn't get that cold anymore but Sarah still let him have a dark grey blanket,Sam and Bucky agreed Sam will sleep on the right side of the bed and Bucky could sleep on the left side

After a few hours Bucky laid on his back unable to sleep processing some stuff,Sam is Captain America now meaning he has to go to meetings charity events political events court meetings parties

But the fanciest thing Sam has went to was a Avengers Party in 2015 where he would've got killed if he hadn't left earlier,so he has got to work on his political manners and keep his guard up making sure not to drink too much

because unlike Steve Sam was not a super soldier therefore he could still get drunk,Bucky rolled to Sam's side to face his back he smiled at him sleeping soundly

if the old him saw this he'd call his new self an idiot falling in love with Sam of all people shook him to his core

The Sam that called him annoying and that told him he has a staring problem,the Sam who insulted his name in Wakanda as the white wolf,The Sam who he kept secrets from but still helped him

Yeah that Sam and god he's got it down bad for him,his charming smile his loyalty his overall capability of being a good person its amazing and Bucky fell head over heels

"I love you.."he whispered "..Sam"

he rolled back now in a good mood to sleep drowning himself in the emotion,little did he know Sam heard him

Sam heard him confess,He heard the words 'i love you Sam' come out of his mouth Sam's heart was pounding his chest his throat felt dry and his palms felt sweaty

Sam couldn't sleep either having Bucky in his bed,it was mostly out of worry that Bucky would be uncomfortable with the idea of sleeping in the same bed as a man and especially a gay man

Homophobia is still popular in the 22d century and it was very much so in the 1940s most soldiers or war heroes being either homophobic racist or both

Sam hadn't even come out to Steve,or Natasha,the only people that knew where the people of his town AJ and Cass know and they see no shame in it because they're just kids they grew up like this

Sarah doesn't see shame in it either after all Sam is her brother and she'd walk through fire for him,after all Sarah doesn't mind what gender sexuality or race you are just as long as you're a nice person

He tries to sleep it off but ende up waking up four hours later to get a mid-night snack not being able to sleep,he opens the snack cupboard to see only snickers left

He sighs AJ and Cass must've eaten all the snacks and left snickers since they don't like nuts,he ate the snickers bar and got himself a cup of water

"Sam?" He heard a hoarse voice say it was Bucky Sam froze at the image he witnessed

Bucky was shirtless wearing nothing but boxers he'd taken off his battle pants(probably because it was leather and uncomfy to sleep with)Sam tried not to drop his cup and put it down

"Yeah?" He answered trying to seem cool and relaxed internally freaking out at a half-naked Bucky

"Did i wake you up?" Bucky asked nervously

"No" and Bucky closed his eyes in relief "i just couldn't sleep"

They both stayed silent for a moment until Sam couldn't keep quite

"Hey- um actually i wanted to tell you that um.." he struggled to form the words needed and he took a deep breath "i heard you..last night"

"oh" Bucky breathed out as he froze 'shit shit shit shit' he thought he was so deep into his thoughts hearing his hard racing that he didn't notice Sam getting closer until he grabbed his chin lifting Bucky's eyes so they make eye contact with Sam's hazel brown ones

fuck it Sam thought leaning in to kiss Bucky his other hand traveling down to intertwine hands with Bucky's vibranium one

Bucky let Sam take the lead just enjoying the feeling of Sam's lips against his,Sam slowly pulled away breathing heavily even tho Bucky can go longer Sam still needed breath

"You have morning breath" Bucky whispered and it made sam smile

"You do too asshole" he replied

"Now you too can stop being unhygienic and brush your teeth" a voice said and both of them froze this time turning around to see Sharon on the couch with the widest grin on her face

"Right" Bucky replied blushing running to the bathroom

"Yep" Sam said following Bucky

Sharon sighed maybe she has a purpose to leave the criminal life after all,enemies can be friends or potential lovers and Sam and Bucky are the walking definition of that and hopefully someone else like Sharon can take that as an opportunity to change
