Chapter 3

~about 10 years later~

"Hey, mom." Harry greeted, Perseus (who preferred to be called Percy) following him through the door. "Is Gabe out?" They just came back from the library after a long day of school.

They were taking out a couple of books and talking to the librarian afterwards. She was a lovely lady with chocolate brown eyes that were framed by circular glasses and straight midnight black hair that's always in a ponytail. Her name was Sasha.

She was a bit skeptical of them when they first trudged in, out of breath. She asked them where their parents were and they had said that they had dropped them off. She soon learnt that they had ADHD yet still read books upon books whenever they came and were never a disturbance. She would always smile at them, then wave them over to a new section with a new topic and they always dug into the shelves of books with vigor.

Sally knew of these trips even though she was out working most of the time. The librarian had contacted her the second day Percy and Harry had walked in, out of breath. Sally just assured the librarian that she did, indeed, drop them off, happy that they got time away from the disgusting pig, Gabe, in their house. She was conserned about their scents for a while but decided to let them have some freedom. If something bad happened, then she would stop the visits. She was a bit surprised they ended up having a library as a safe house seeing as they had ADHD. She guessed it's because of the running to the public library that exhausts them so they don't mind not moving for a while.

"Yeah, he'll be staying at his friends house for the weekend." she replied. She was excited as this weekend was the boys' birthday weekend. Technically their birthday was today but they decided to wait until the weekend to celebrate. It was tradition for them to go to the library and take out some books, then go to Montauk and just enjoy the beach, cabin and their time together. They hadn't been able to go for last year because of Gabe using all their money in his poker games, but Sally hid enough over time.

They never knew when their real birthday was so Sally decided it was the day she adopted them. She told them about the adoption, she tried to tell them everything she could. When she approached Poseidon with the birthday situation, he thought it was fitting as he said that when he adopted them they, technically, started a new life.

"You guys excited for this weekend?" she asked with a smirk, knowing they needed some fun time after school.

"Definitely!" they chorused.

The two boys' faces stretched out into identical large grins. You could practically feel the joy radiating off of them. Sally couldn't help but laugh as she looked at the happiness the two boys showed.

It was a very special place to them. Sally had decided to tell the boys they had had a father but he was lost at sea. She predicted it would make it easier to explain when the time came to reveal their demigod heritage. She had told the boys that she had met their father at Montauk and that was where it all started, which is completely true.

For the boys, it was special because it was time away from smelly-Gabe and instead with their wonderful mom. She was a saint in their opinions and made delicious food, especially her chocolate chip cookies. They've been kicked out of every school they had attended to this day, yet she hasn't raised her voice once. Even more unbelievable, she hasn't raised her voice once to Gabe... Gabe. She really was an angel. It was also the closest they got to their dad, though they had no idea how close.

"I smell blue cookies!" Percy's eyes went wide.

"Can we have some? Please?" Harry turned his puppy eyes on Sally, knowing how well they worked.

"Well," their mom drawled playfully, "They were meant for desert..." At the slightly pouty looks on their faces, she gave in. "But I'm sure it wouldn't hurt to have a few now."

"Yes! Thanks mom!"

The lovely moment was ruined when an owl swooped in and perched on their couch. It had large amber eyes that grew wider at seeing the boys. It let out an ear-splitting screech. It seemed calmer afterwards, which the boys were grateful for.

An owl was not what the boys were expecting when they got home. Especially one with such a … strong pair of lungs. They were sure there was a ringing sound in their ears. But they weren't too focused on that, instead staring at the letters in the birds' beak. They looked a bit brown and had a red wax seal on it.

Since the owl obviously didn't like them much, Sally went to get the letters. The owl didn't back away or screech again, thankfully. Once she received them the owl swooped into the kitchen, coming out with a blue cookie in its beak and flying out the window. Now Percy and Harry have had weird things happen to them. They blew up the school bus with a canon, strangled some snakes when they were babies and even pulled the wrong lever at the aquarium resulting in the class taking an unexpected swim. But an owl delivering 2 letters through their window was a new one.

Turns out the drama wasn't over though as a mist entered the apartment through their window forming a figure that took the form of a man. He had messy black hair like theirs and wore what you would think a stereo typical fisherman would wear along with a hat that read "NEPTUNES LUCKY FISHING HAT".

The twins were starting to get a bit suspicious. Just a bit. They turned there heads to look at each other, and a silent agreement passed between the two. Quite literally.

See, they had read many books in the library, despite their age. They were pretty bored at the time and it seemed the facts or adventures of the books were enough to keep them entertained. At first it was a pain to read but then, funny enough, they came upon a book about ADHD. Turns out if you meditate enough it helps you to control it. Of course they didn't just start meditating and get rid of it. They read short books to fit their attention span and as it grew, the longer the books got as well as the better their reading speeds got. It became races in who can read faster.

While one of these races were in session, Percy heard a voice that sounded distinctly like his brothers. He was pretty sure his brother was reading aloud to annoy him. So he did what normal competitively reading brothers do: he kicked him off his chair. Eventually they talked it out, and found out about the connection they shared through their brains. They obviously experimented (who wouldn't!?) and were very excited and happy with what they found. They could send not only conversations but images too, if they could concentrate well enough. They did keep it from Sally though. They thought, after their record, they would probably be sent to an asylum.

They did find a book on fighting during their book hunting and the first thing that came to mind was Gabe. And the fact that they were still children that wanted to stab something with a sword or kick or punch something, anything would do. They taught themselves everything they could, the motivation of no Gabe was very helpful. They would fight each other and see how much they could improve. The ADHD helped a lot. They didn't stop moving so it's harder for them to get hit, and they could see every little detail so they found openings in each others fighting style. It was a sort of release for them. After all, living with Gabe wasn't easy. One wrong move and you could sleep for a very long time, not optionally.

Together, they lunged towards the man and tackled him to the ground. Harry kept his left limbs down while Percy held his right.

For some unknown reason the owl let out what seemed like a satisfied screech.

Instead of cursing them or something, the man had a huge smile on his face. They were both a little confused but didn't let their guard down. They knew that there was a possibility that he was just trying to get into their heads. It's happened many times in their books and they did not want to take a chance with the stranger.

After Sally got over her shock enough to move, she started pulling her sons off the man. They didn't budge because even though they fully trusted their wonderful mother, they didn't want to take a chance with the man. After all, he did enter in mist.

"Boys, j-just calm down, o-okay? That's your f-father." she was still in shock and stuttered through her words.

They scrambled to get off of the fisherman, who was their supposed father, and as far as possible, dragging their mom with them. They definitely understood why their mom was in shock now. She hasn't seen him after almost eleven years and now he just shows up.

In mist.

Through their window.

With an owl.

Harry and Percy reached the conclusion of hallucination.

"Okay, I need to get this under control." Sally said, composing herself, taking a deep breath and starting with the elephant in the room.

"Is it time to tell them?" she directed the question at the fisherman who just nodded.

She took a deep breathe before starting "Please, sweeties, don't interrupt me while I explain this and leave all questions till the end." taking another deep breathe she started, "Your father is a Greek God, more specifically Poseidon." she seemed expectant, as if they would ask questions even with her telling them not too. But even if she hadn't said told them not to interrupt, they wouldn't have. You know, because it's not every day they found out their father was a Greek God. And they loved their mom.

She continued, "The Greek gods were originally in Greece but the heart of the fire moved to New York. They go wherever the fire goes. With all the books you've read, I'm sure you've come across a Greek mythology book. All those myths are real. Especially the ones about demigods. In fact, you are demigods. Half mortal and half God. Your half mortal would be whoever you were born to and your half god will be Poseidon. When we adopted you, Poseidon did a blood bond in which he mixed his blood with yours. I'm sure you've noticed strange things happening around you? Well those are either your ADHD, your powers or monsters. Like when you flooded your class, that was your powers. When you pulled the wrong lever at the aquarium, that was your ADHD. When you saw that big dog with glowing eyes, that was a monster. Helloun, actually. All demigods have a scent that monsters track so that they can kill you. How strong your scent is depends on how powerful you are and you are very powerful. Monsters never truly die. They go to Greek hell, which is Tartarus. They then escape and come after demigods again."

Sally looked away and when she looked back there were tears in her eyes. The whole time she explained everything she was stoic now the fresh tears in her eyes shocked the boys.

"There are two places for demigods like you. There is camp half blood. Greek demigods go there. But there is also a Roman camp called Camp Jupiter. When the Roman's took over Greece they converted the gods into their Roman personas. They still have those, so when they have a child in their Roman form they go to camp Jupiter. Every time the Greeks and Roman's meet, there is a bloodbath. That's why the gods use the Mist to keep the camps from knowing about each other. Mist with a capital 'M'. The Mist is a powerful force that keeps the mortal world and the Godly world separate, if strong enough it can effect demigods too. You also get the odd mortal that can see through the Mist, like me. I'm telling you this because you are both. When Poseidon made you his blood children you had a magic that wouldn't allow him to adopt you as a Greek demigod. So he adopted you as both Poseidon and Neptune. Demigods have something called a scent. It's how the monsters track you. Um... Yeah. There is something else" Percy heard his brother in his head saying in an unnaturally high voice, 'how can there be more!' "I told Poseidon about my theory of you being a legacy of Hecate." Sally continued. 'The Greek goddess of magic and crossroads right?' Percy checked with Harry. 'Yep.' was the response.

She took another deep breath, like she couldn't believe this is what her life is. "When the Greek gods were in Britain Hecate had four children. They never knew they were demigods but did know they were special. They started channeling their power through wands and became wizards. Many of Hecate's children who didn't know of the Gods joined them. The four started a school in England, to teach people how to hone and control their magic. I am not a wizard but a squib. That's a person with magical parents but can't use magic themselves. So when Poseidon said you had a magic that was pushing against his I had my doubts. I then got in contact with some old wizard friends and found out about a dark wizard that was defeated by twin infants, that of which they couldn't find. It wasn't too hard to figure out after the call. So you are also wizards. The wizarding school is called Hogwarts and that is your new school for this year."

When she finished she looked at the fisherman that is a Greek God that is Harry and Percy's dad. He just shrugged, "You seem to have it covered. Well, I'll be off now. And I left you two some presents on your bed. Love you Sally, Percy, Harry." Then he dissolved into a mist, again.

Finally the situation started to set in for the 2 boys. They were part god. They had powers. They were wizards. They could use wands.

They looked at each other, "This is so

awesome! Weird … but awesome!"

Sally, who was worried about their reaction, just burst out in laughter. She laughed so long, it took her a while to catch her breath. Years of lies being life off your shoulders did that to a person.

"Okay boys, we're going to London so get packing. The faster you pack the faster we'll get there. And for motivation, we're going there by magic. So hurry up!" she shooed them out of the living room with a smile on her face.

She sighed. "This is going to be a long year." she muttered under her breath before heading to her room to pack the few belongings she had.
