Hi. Nice to... um... sort of... digitally interact? Not really sure what type of thing this is but *shrugs, who cares. Thank you OriginWaffle and Angel-Rose Munro for the support. I'm sooo happy, the torture palace (aka, school) is almost over! :D I can't wait until the holidays. My cousin/editor came over this weekend and was sooo irritated at me not giving her my work to edit. So some of my chapters will be updated/edited in any weird spare time I have. Any way here is your story, I'm gonna try updating every Sunday at the least.
Also, anyone with info on how to handle annoying hypocritical parents that are divorced, please PM me or review cause, uuuggghhh, I feel like I'm much more mature than I should be at this age dealing with them.
Me own = nothin'
Chapter 5
Percy's POV
I was contemplating one of the most important things in my life as we went shopping for all our books.
Which is better, demigod or wizard?
I think I'm more happy about being a wizard than being part god though. I mean to most people being part god would be like being on top of the world for them, but there were so many books about witches and wizards that I want to know which was the closest. I mean, how different can gods be if they're true myths. There aren't many versions of them anyway. Being in the wizarding world first is probably helping me decide which is best because I haven't really seen much godly things, except the mist stuff. We're walking down an ally that's filled with owls, screaming books, weird things pickled and in jars and ice-cream shops that pile the ice-cream so high, it must need magic to not fall, which is what it has. It was just so... different.
We just walked out of Gringotts which was something else in its' self. We were extremely rich. In everything. You should have seen all the weird things in one ginormous room.
FLASHBACK THINGY
We rode through the tunnels in Gringotts going from vault to vault, checking what was inside. We used the Gringotts cart that was even faster than what I would imagen a roller coaster to be. All our vaults were pretty full. We just finished checking the vault of Monroe, which was the last and deepest vault. We climbed back into the cart and waited for it to whizz us back to the entrance. But instead, it took of down a tunnel that seemed to go deeper down. We went spiraling and zigzaging down the tunnels. Sometimes we would see flames and sometimes we would hear jingling.
Then we stopped at a U of vaults. These each had numbers ranging from 1 to 12, all even numbers on the right side, all odd numbers on the left. But vault number 2 is what caught our eye. It was a painting of a beach at sunset. There were seagulls that seemed to almost be engulfed by the orange beams of light radiating off the sun, blending in beautifully with the glistening gold grains of sand; the waves separating them with swirls of blue that seemed to stretch on forever.
Harry and I felt drawn to the door, which is why we weren't surprised when it swung open at our touch.
Inside was an assortment of things. In one corner, there was... muggy?.. no, muggle money of all currencies, another corner was all the wizarding money that looked like more than all our other vaults put together. In the centre there was a fountain that had golden liquid in it. Surrounding it, there were piles of what looked like glowing fudge. I think our mom told us it was abro... um, ambroi, no... AMBROSIA! that was it, and the other one was something similar to honey... oh, yeah, nectar. We were more interested in what was at the back though. There, hanging on walls and dummies was enough armor and weapons for a war. There was two of everything.
Swords lined the walls, each made of a different material with labels. The first one we walked up to was made of stygian iron, a metal of the underworld (Greek after life) apparently. It was said that it was only supposed to be wielded by children of the underworld, but because of the diversity of the ocean it wouldn't harm us any different than other swords. The next was made of imperial gold. It said it could only harm people with godly blood. Apparently it was quite common in the godly world too. The next was celestial bronze. It was less common in the godly world and stronger too. We felt a pull towards the swords, similar to that of the door so we did what most kids our age do; we took the swords.
As soon as we touched them the swords became smaller and smaller until it resembled pens. On the side 'Anaklusmos' was engraved, which we somehow translated to 'riptide'. Must have been the Greek side of us acting up.
The next sword was silver. The note said it was the only metal that could kill a werewolf. We thought we should get maybe 2 silver weapons if it was the only thing that could kill something that wanted to harm us. Always get something to kill someone that wants to hurt you, especially if it can only be killed by the one something.
In the end, after going through all the weaponry and armory we ended up with:
2 celestial bronze swords called Riptide and disguised as bronze pens.
2 pairs of silver hunting knives called Pride and Prejudice each and disguised as silver lower arm cuffs. (AN: I just really wanted to, deal with it)
2 silver bows with unlimited appearing silver arrows called Moonlight and disguised as silver rings that we placed on our left hand.
2 stygian iron daggers called Frostguard and disguised as black rings that we placed on our right hands.
2 black earrings with an unlimited source of celestial bronze throwing knives when we touched them. We didn't really give them names.
2 imperial gold spears called Solarflare and disguised as golden pens.
2 pairs of light and flexible celestial bronze armor disguised as trident pendants.
2 circular light celestial bronze shields disguised as bracelets.
We were contemplating leaving the armor and shields but we thought it would be better to be safe rather than sorry.
So, in other words, we were walking armories.
As we walked out we filled a canteen with nectar and picked up a pouch of ambrosia. Then we took a bag, with what seemed like an unseen extending spell or something, that was lying on the floor (how could they just leave it lying around!) and filled it as much as possible with the gold gallons, um... galleons.
We then decided to just take a bunch of the British currency for mom, so she could leave smelly Gabe and just live here.
We were practically beaming when we got out the vault. Griphook and mom were just coming out the cart now. Huh, maybe they were in shock at the fact we were wearing so much jewelry.
"You okay mom?" I asked, just to make sure, "We were in there for a long time, why are you only getting out the cart now?"
"Sweetie, you only just went in, then you came out. I'm guessing a time freezing or time slowing charm, possibly from your father. What are all the trinkets?" she asked, interested.
"Dad put them there." was all Harry had to say for mom to understand.
"So, let us end this interesting ride," stated the goblin before returning to the ride.
END OF FLASHBACKY THING
We arrived at the book shop. I couldn't wait to memorize all the the spells I could find. We told mom we would tell her about the vault when we got back to the room. She agreed saying it wasn't something for public ears.
"Whoa," Harry and I breathed. The shop was definitely bigger on the inside than the outside. It went up three stories, filled with shelves upon shelves of books. Harry and I instantly headed towards the huge trollies, getting our lists, that we found in the letters, out.
Mom was chuckling at us the whole time, knowing how much we loved books, especially now with magic.
By the end of the book spree we had books piled high in both trollies. We got every different type of book possible, even the transfiguration through to year seven set works and ancient rune books, which we aren't going to start for a couple of years anyway.
Despite the large amount of books we were still excited. We weren't the type of people that let age decide what we could do or not, if you want to do it, and you put in the effort, you will achieve it.
As we went back to the pub we stopped at a shop and asked for some wand holders. They were a surprised we asked for both left and right but they obliged.
Then we stopped for potion ingredients and cauldrons. We bought a whole lot extra in hopes of being allowed to make some at home to practice.
Even though we knew muggleborns were going, who had no magical experience at all, we still didn't want to be under prepared.
We've had bad luck at all the schools we went to and we were not going to lose the chance to learn magic.
As we walked through the pub an old lady with a really stiff back and grey hair pulled back into a tight bun walked towards us.
She came forward and motioned to hug Sally.
"Oh, it's been too long Sally. How are you? Are these your boys? Are they going to Hogwarts this year?" she shot of her questions.
Mom just smiled and waited until she was done to answer, always patient. "You're right, it's been way too long. I moved to New York and I'm doing good. These are, in fact, my boys. They were adopted but are somehow still part of our world. Their father was lost at sea soon after the adoption but we recently got back in touch. They are going to Hogwarts this year actually," she said, ruffling our hair affectionately, "I'm definitely going to miss them. It'll be so quiet in our house." she finished of snickering. The old lady laughing with her.
"Oh Merlin, I haven't even introduced myself. Where are my manners. Good afternoon boys, I'm Professor Minerva McGonagall. I'll be one of your teachers at school. I know your mom here from a few side trips I made on my free time. A Hufflepuff at heart, she is. Always patient and kind and friendly," she rambled.
"Hi, I'm Harry-" my brother started.
"and I'm Percy" I finished.
Professor McGonagall got a haunted look on her face and turned to Sally.
"Please not another pair," she pleaded, "The castle will collapse with more of them."
Mom just smirked and said, "These ones are going to be a whole lot more difficult than them. Just pray they don't go against each other, or worse, team up."
Both adults shivered at the thought.
"Anyway, it was nice running into you again. I'll tell them not to but, hmmm, I don't know if they'll listen," mom said, grinning like a Cheshire cat, "Bye, maybe we'll see you later." mom finishes before steering us upstairs.
Once we reach the room, Harry and I scramble to get the books out of our trunks we bought to pack our things in. We took out a random book, that happened to be our charms book, 'The Standard Book of Spells 1'.
"Okay boys, you can try spells and potions, but you have to clean up after. I'm going to be downstairs most of our stay, catching up with some people so please don't cause any trouble and yes you may go wondering." mom finished, answering my unasked question. How did she do that?
Huh, must be a mom thing.
When mom left, Harry and I started talking about the spells.
"How about we go through the pronunciation, then movement, then both without a wand and then we can do it with a wand." I suggested.
Harry shrugged and opened the book to the first spell.
"This one is a levitating spell." Harry said excitedly, "the pronunciation is win-GAR-dee-um lev-ee-OH-sa." Harry said slowly. Trying to get every syllable just right.
We practiced for a while before doing the motion for about 5 minutes. It was pretty basic, but I guess we are just starting.
"Please can we just do it with a wand." I nagged my brother, not wanting to waste anymore time.
Harry nodded, just as eager. This was our first magical spell and we were really excited to just do it. But meditation also showed us how small things build up to really big things.
I fetched our wands. When I hold my wands, a warmth fills my body and it feels like I found another part of me that I didn't know was missing. I was definitely going to keep my wand safe, I didn't think I'd be able to bear the loss of it. It felt like my responsibility to just care for it and look after it like it would do for me in times of fights and stuff. Wow, that seems very deep hearing (reading? thinking?) it out loud. Yup, let's never go down that root. I'm not a 'deep' guy.
We practiced a bit with both our wands doing the movements together.
"Okay, let's go on three" I said, adjusting my wand so it faced a book. Harry did the same to a pillow.
"One-"
"Two-"
"Three!-"
"Wingardium Leviosa!" we said.
Then, I felt it. I was in control of where the book went, up or down, left or right. I looked to my side to see Harry already over his shock, and moving his wand to maneuver the pillow around the room. I followed shortly behind.
Soon there were different objects flying around the room. We figured out we could use our ADHD to split our focus, and control more than one thing at a time. It was amazing. There were pillows and books and blankets and chairs flying around everywhere. Then an idea popped into my head.
"Harry, you know how the movies have wizards that do magic without wands. So you think we could try that?" I ask, curious.
"Dunno, but we could always try. Do you think we should do the wand movements with our hands and say the words, or just say the words?" Harry thought aloud.
"Maybe we should do the words. They would probably make it easier-Wait!" I said, having an epiphany, "just give me a moment to try something."
I grabbed my wands and held them in front of me, before taking a big breath. I focused as much as my ADHD brain would allow and thought *Wingardium Leviosa* while doing the wand movements.
It was much harder than saying it out loud had been, but it still had the desired effect.
"So there is silent magic. It's a bit harder than when we did it with the words, but it is possible." I stated, "Let's try that wandless magic now," I said.
Harry nodded, big smile on his face. He tried the levitation charm on a book.
"You're right, it's much harder without words. But if we practice I'm guessing it'll become easier.
"Okay, let's just try it. We already did the movements and pronunciation. I think we should just go for it." Harry voiced to me. I nodded in agreement. Excitement building up again.
*Wingardium Leviosa* we thought, moving our hands in the movements.
My chair rose a few feet of the ground while Harry's book did the same. But both of us could feel the strain. It took a lot of focus and we started to sweat after a while.
Then the chair and book fell to the floor as we fell on the bed.
"Well, that's even harder." Harry stated.
"No kidding, captain obvious." I replied.
"What are you waiting for?," I questioned, getting up, "We need to learn the rest of the spells. Also guessing we have to memorize them. I mean wizards can't carry books and read spells everywhere they go. Plus, I really want to try potions tomorrow."
"Okay, sounds good. Then we can try transfiguration and study some herbology.
" The next spell is reparo. It fixes things. Oh, and there are different branches, like for glasses you would actually say oculus reparo. Come on, we have a lot to got through." Harry said before trying the spell.
This continued for days. We would memorize and practice each book for school in about 3 or 4 days. We even discovered different potions after getting a feel of what each ingredient does. Like if you add a rat tail with a bezoar, you have to stir it clockwise twice, unless you dilute it with moon vine sap. Turns out, most of the potions in our text books were either wrong or not at it's full potential. So we tweaked some, writing notes and new recipes in the book. We even added some of the ones we figured out. I've also got a hunch that our Poseidon side is helping in potions. Like when we put 12 beans in our cure for boils potion, like said in the book, we felt an instinct to put one more. After we did the potion turned the perfect shade of green it was supposed to.
Eventually, after completing the school's year's set works and moving on to some more advanced work, the day came for us to head to King's Cross Station and go to platform 9 3/4. We said our good byes to our mom, promising to send her letters.
This was it, this was our ride to Hogwarts. The scarlet train will take us straight to a school for magic.
Please review ;), I need motivation. Great, now that song cheerleader is stuck in my head
