As the month of November came around the weather began to change. The temperature was cold, and frost covered portions of the grounds. The first Quidditch match of the season would be starting soon and it would be Gryffindor vs Slytherin. Harry and Dipper were nervous going into their first game. It was the first time in nearly a century that first years made the house team and the pressure was on. Hermione, who had made friends with them was now more relaxed about rule breaking. She helped Dipper and Harry by getting Quidditch from the ages from the library so they could learn more about the sport. There were over 700 fouls in a Quidditch match and all of them were committed in the first ever Quidditch world cup. As all six of them were reading in the courtyard the day before the game Snape walked up to them. What do you think you are doing? he asked. Just doing a bit of light reading on Quidditch said Mabel. Library books are not to be taken outside the castle said Snape. I will be confiscating that and be taking five points from Gryffindor. That jerk, he's trying to make sure his own house wins thought Dipper.
Later on in the common room Harry made a plan. He was going to ask Snape if he could have the book back in front of the other staff members. It was impossible for Snape to say no in that position. Unfortunately, when he got back he didn't have the book. But he did ask an interesting question. Did anyone else notice that Snape wasn't present during the Halloween feast? I don't remember seeing him at the staff table said Pacifica. When I walked into the staffroom his leg was bleeding and he said something about three heads said Harry. Was Snape in the forbidden corridor? asked Dipper. He might have been, I bet he let the troll in as a distraction so he could steal whatever that dog was guarding said Harry. It all adds up, Snape was the one who broke into Gringotts to try and steal it said Ron. We have to warn Dumbledore said Pacifica. Are you mad? if we tell him he'll find out that we were out of bed at night and in the forbidden corridor said Ron. Ron is right, we don't want to get expelled said Hermione.
That night Dipper and Mabel had changed into their pajamas and were now having their usual Friday night sleepover. Listen Dipper, if you don't win this match we still have a shot at the cup said Mabel. There is still Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff to go up against. I know, it would just be nice to do it on the first try said Dipper. Well whatever happens, you are my brother and I love you said Mabel. I love you too Mabel said Dipper. They then hugged each other. They got into their sleeping bags and went to sleep, waiting for the big game tomorrow.
At breakfast it was clearly obvious that Harry and Dipper were still anxious about the upcoming match. Harry you've got it much easier than I do said Dipper. I'm stuck on one of the school's comet 260's, you've got the fastest broom there is. No I definitely have it harder, you have to remember that the game isn't over until that snitch is caught said Harry. No matter how many points you score, I have to be the one to finish the game.
Soon the Gryffindor team was in the locker room wearing their bright red Quidditch robes. The captain Oliver Wood began his speech. Listen up, we haven't won the cup since Charlie Weasley was on the team. I want that to change this season. Mason, you may not be on the fastest broom, but you've got Angelina and Alicia on your side. He then turned to Angelina Johnson and Alicia Spinnet. I want you two to keep an eye on your fellow chaser, with how skinny he is he's likely to get beaten up. Yes sir said Angelina. Mason, we'll make sure nothing bad happens to you said Alicia. Dipper felt like Wood was making him sound like the underdog. Wood then pointed at the Weasley twins. As for you two he said. Make sure none of us get hit by bludgers. And this time make sure you only attack the keeper when the quaffle is in the scoring area, we don't want a repeat and last season's match against Hufflepuff. He finally turned to their seeker. Harry, you've got the fastest broom in the world. Don't worry about anyone else, keep all of your focus on catching that Snitch.
The team walked onto the field to a crowd of cheers. Dipper could see that Ron and Hermione were holding the British flag, while Mabel and Pacifica were holding the American flag. Hermione had put a charm on them to make the colors glow. Fred and George's friend Lee Jordon stepped ut to the podium to commentate as he was watched closely by Professor McGonagall. WELCOME TO THE FIRST MATCH OF THE SEASON, TODAY'S MATCH IS SLYTHERIN VS GRYFFINDOR! he shouted. There were several cheers coming from the Gryffindor's and the Slytherins. It was also clear to see that the Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff students were also cheering for Gryffindor. WE'VE GOT A SPECIAL MATCH TODAY AS FOR THE FIRST TIME IN HOGWARTS HISTORY WE HAVE AN AMERICAN PLAYER! shouted Lee Jordan. Mabel and Pacifica let out loud cheers. GO GET EM BROTHER! shouted Mabel. Madam Hooch then walked onto the field to begin the game. I want a nice clean game, from all of your she said. She was particularly looking at the Slytherin captain Marcus Flint. Captain's shake hands. Oliver Wood shook hands with Marcus Flint. The bludgers were then released, followed by the golden snitch. The fifteen brooms then rose into the air. The quaffle was released, Madam Hooch blew the whistle, and the game was on.
Dipper immediately took possession of the quaffle. A bludger went straight for him but was knocked away by Fred Weasley. Dipper then threw the quaffle to Angelina Johnson. Angelina flew into the scoring area, and got the ball through the hoop. She then shared a high five with Dipper. ANGELINA JOHNSON SCORES, TEN POINTS TO GRYFFINDOR! shouted Lee Jordan. THAT'S WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT! yelled Pacifica from the stands.
One of the Slytherin chasers then took the quaffle. He passed it off to captain Marcus Flint. Flint passed it to another Slytherin chaser named Adrian Pucey. Pucey attempted to score but Oliver Wood caught the quaffle before it could go through the hoop. It was then passed to Angelina Johnson, then to Alicia Spinnet. The two female chasers kept tossing the quaffle back and forth to each other. Marcus Flint kept trying to get in between them but failed miserably. Once they were halfway across the field Dipper was handed the quaffle. One of the Slytherin beaters tried to take him out with a bludger but Dipper dodged it easily. Once Dipper was in the scoring area George Weasley swung a bludger and the Slytherin keeper Miles Bletchley. Bletchley dodged out of the way leaving the hoop open, and Dipper threw it in. MASON PINES SCORES, ANOTHER TEN POINTS TO GRYFFINDOR! shouted Lee Jordan. WAY TO GO BRO BRO! shouted Mabel.
It seemed as though the game would be over soon when Harry caught sight of the snitch. He dashed after it with the the Slytherin seeker Terence Higgs following him. Marcus Flint went right in front of Harry and sent him off course. BOOOOO, THAT WAS A CHEAP SHOT! yelled Pacifica. Madam Hooch then blew her whistle. PENALTY SHOT FOR GRYFFINDOR! she shouted.
Lee Jordan was finding it difficult not to take sides. He was obviously being biased towards Gryffindor and Professor McGonagall had to keep him in check. Alicia Spinnet scored the penalty shot and playing resumed.
Then something happened that nobody expected. Harry lost complete control of his broomstick and it was trying to buck him off. While that was happening Marcus Flint had scored Slytherin's first goal. Hermione was looking through a set of binoculars and saw Snape muttering something under his breath. It's Snape, he's jinxing the broom said Hermione. Surely he doesn't want his house to win that bad? asked Pacifica. What do we do? asked Ron. Leave it to me said Hermione. She then began running to the other end of the stands. Harry was now hanging on for dear life with one hand. The Weasley twins tried to catch Harry but the jinx kept putting him higher into the air. They circled around underneath of him, waiting to catch him. Because the Gryffindor beaters were too concentrated with Harry, Dipper got hit in the left eye with a bludger. The eye was swollen, and blood was slowly dripping from it. Marcus flint then scored five times without anyone noticing. When nobody was paying attention, Hermione muttered something and lit Snape's cloak on fire. It took Snape thirty seconds to realize he was on fire, and when he did he was screaming bloody murder. JESUS CHRIST HELP ME, I'M ON FIRE! That seemed to do the trick and Harry regained control. He then started flying downward with his hands over his mouth as if he was going to puke. He landed on all fours and instead of coughing up vomit, he coughed up the golden snitch and caught it in his hand. I've got the snitch he said. Madam Hooch then blew her whistle. GRYFFINDOR WINS 180-30! While the Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, and Ravenclaw students cheered, the Slytherin's were all booing.
The Gryffindor team was then flying over the field doing a victory lap. Dipper's eye was swollen but he didn't care, he had won his very first Quidditch match. When they landed on the ground Dipper gave Mabel a hug. He and Pacifica were about to hug but instead they went red in the face and simply shook hands. The same exchange happened with Ron and Mabel.
Authors note: In the actual book it says that Gryffindor won with 170 points instead of 180. But when you think about it, that doesn't make sense if Gryffindor scored three times. This was J.K Rowling's first book so i'll forgive her and call it a rookie mistake.
As always if you have an idea for a suggestion or a prediction for a future chapter, feel free to let me know in a review.
Thank you for reading and please have a great day.
