Saturday II

As much as Nico wanted to keep Will locked in his bedroom, the world allowing him to breath once again with the blond, Will made his leave before Nico's parents came home.

He had been pissed at Bianca for interrupting them by not waiting till he answered her knock. The entire time they sat in the living room, Nico couldn't help but send glares in his sister's direction. She just looked anywhere but at him. Nico knew damn well she knew he was giving her dirty looks, but she pretended she had no idea what was going on.

Will, on the other hand, had never been that polite and that silent the entire time he knew him. It was as if Bianca was his mom and she had just caught them doing something a lot worse than making out on his bed. Yeah, it was embarrassing, but it was more awkward with her pretending to not notice and Will not able to look her in the eye.

Nico was literally stuck between a rock and a hard place.

Bianca made a comment about the mindless movie she had put on, to which Will nodded robotically as he picked at his pizza slice. It was enough to make Nico want to scream.

He didn't.

But he almost.

That night, after Will had left, kissing him one last time on the porch, (a feeling Nico thought he would never forget), he had cursed Bianca out once more, flipping her off as he went back to his room.

He fell asleep with the buzzing warmth still lingering on his lips from hours ago, his mind racing with every scenario. This time, none of them ended with Will hating him.

When Nico woke up, it was to his god-awful alarm he had managed to remember to set the night before. He had stayed up all night texting Will, the two of them falling right back into their usual beat as if nothing had happened.

Nico still felt enormous guilt every time he was reminded of how he was the week prior, which was often because it always followed the same train of thought as the lingering kiss that still ghosted his lips. Will should have been mad, not down to make out for hours. As much as Nico was glad they avoided that awkward conversation, it just pulled him down a bit.

But he pushed everything aside as he sent a good morning text to Will before jumping into the shower.

By the time he got out, Will had sent him several texts, littering his notifications with his name. Nico smiled as he slipped a clean shirt over his head, shaking his still slightly dripping hair with his free hand.

Sunshine Man

Nico rolled his eyes before sending a shitty close up photo of the upper half of his face, his hair starting to just curl as it clung to his face.

Sunshine Man

Nico kicked around his room, throwing things aside to keep his now-clean floor still relatively clear – at least for the time being.

When it approached ten, Nico grabbed his phone and keys, shoving them in his pocket. He side-stepped over to the kitchen to grab something to snack on while he waited the spare minutes until Will sent him a text, letting him know he had pulled up. And said texted came through just as he was crumbling up a wrapper to some weird protein bar his sister ate. Tossing it in the trash, he made his way to the front door.

His mother was sitting in her usual spot, sipping her early morning coffee like she did when she had the mornings mostly to herself. His father was seated beside her, a thick book in hands and his scarcely used glasses pinching the bridge of his nose.

As he shoved his shoes on his feet, using only his other foot to get them on, his mother looked up from what had been catching her attention – some magazine probably.

"Nicolas," she spoke, her tone holding no hostility, "what are you doing up so early in the morning?"

Nico took a deep breath in before meeting her. He could see Will's car vaguely shaped in the frosted glass before he turned.

"Just heading out."

"And to think, you are usually so held up in your room these days. Look at you finally going outside. Tell me, Nicolas, where are you going?"

For a second, Nico thought about lying.

Coffee with Will. Not really a lie, but barely even a half truth. And besides, she loved Will.

Going out to see Piper. Again, not really a lie, but he knew he should probably stop skirting around his mother. She might never be at a place where they see fully eye to eye, but pleasing her by keeping it out of the conversation might just be more harmful in the long run.

"I'm going with Will," Nico told her, keeping his voice level as he got his last shoe on. "We're going to Pride."

There was a moment when he noticed his dad glance up. He didn't fully pull his nose out the book, but his gaze did shift between him and his mother. For a long time, Maria's expression was unreadable. There was silence that came with this statement, and it was starting to hang low.

"Well," she spoke, breaking the building tension, "tell William I say 'hi' and I hope you two have fun." There were parts of her voice that were strained and forced. But another part, the part he gained both Nico and his father's attention was the sincerity she held in her words.

Nico gave a coy smile, before he waved one last farewell before rushing out the door and into Will's car.

Will turned the stereo down as Nico collapsed in the seat, shaking his head.

"What?" Will asked, smiling as he fixed his hair in the rear view mirror quickly.

"She," Nico said, vaguely gesturing towards his house, "confuses me on a daily."

"Your mom?"

"Who else?"

Will smiled as he pulled the gear from part into drive.

"But you're doing well?"

Nico smiled before turning his head over to face the blond. When he met those blue eyes once again, the memory of the past week came flooding in. The hatred, the screaming, the lying, the kissing. It always ended on feeling Will's lips on his.

He got a wave of anxiety that was quickly washed away with a rush of adrenaline. It gave a similar feeling as the former, but it made his heart soar.

"Yeah," Nico said, his voice almost dreamy. He bit his lip and looked away as fast as possible, feeling his ears warm. He hated how much Will made him blush now.

The ride was serine. The two of them quickly fell back into the rhythm that they had missed out on in the past few days as conversation came easily. There was lots of back and forth, each boy jumping off of the words of the other. It was all playful fun as Will drove them to the meeting spot.

As Will pulled up, Nico was the first to get out. He leaned on the door and watched as Will stepped out. With his keys in hand, he smiled at Nico. Nico had to bite his lip he headed towards the door.

"What if we acted like we still hated each other?" Nico suggested.

Will smiled as he pocketed his keys.

"I don't think they'll buy that, also you were the one throwing the fit."

"I object to that."

"Really?"

"Yeah," Nico nodded, shrugging his shoulders as if it was merely an inconvenience to him. "And besides," he continued, "whether it was you or me-"

"It was for sure you."

"-it doesn't matter. The fact that the last thing they knew was that we weren't speak is all that matters."

By the car parked next to theirs, the group had already arrived. As they walked in, Will slipped his hand into Nico's.

"I told them I was picking you up, obviously-"

"Oh, thank fuck," Piper exclaimed.

Will and Nico both looked up and met the exasperated face of Piper who sported one too many bracelets along side Jason, Hazel, and Frank. She rolled her eyes and met the two boys in the middle.

"What?" Nico asked, raising a brow.

"I was about to think this bullshit was going to go on forever." Nico felt his ears warm. Was it really that hot in there? "When Will said he was picking you up still, I thought there was going to be some blood shed. Glad to see there's not."

Nico become suddenly very aware of Will's hand locked in his own. It was a lifeline when Will squeezed back.

"That's rude," Nico muttered, shrugging off Piper's smirk.

"You literally can't say shit, dude."

Nico only flipped her off.

There was still an unspoken tension he felt whenever his actions of the past week were brought up. Even if the surface had been waxed clean, there were still marks dragged through the polished glass that were obscuring the image. The picture was there, but until he buffed them out, there would always be those marks he personally made. It was the squeeze of Will's hand in his hand told him things would be okay, but that Will was still aware.

Both boys knew things weren't perfect, and they had a long list of issues to work through, but they were willing to work through it together. Maybe they stood a chance.

Nico hoped.

"Whatever," Nico said, "have you ordered yet?"

Piper shook her head as they joined the rest of the group to the counter.

"Nah, we were waiting for you two idiots."

"Well," Will smiled, "the two idiots are here now."

"And I have never been more happy in my life," Jason joked, his hands resting in his jean shorts' pockets.

As the group stood in line, Hazel fell back a bit, falling in stride with Nico.

"I'm glad you guys worked it out," she whispered, sneaking a glance over to Will at Nico's other side.

Nico furrowed his brow as he tilted his head.

"How did you-"

"You really think you could hide this from me?"

He smiled. Nico knew Hazel could read him up and down without giving him a moment to breath.

"Never could."

"Damn right."

"What are you two whispering over there?" Will asked, cocking a brow at the pair.

With a smile that was eerily similar, the two of them simple shrugged their shoulders as if Will had imagined them ever speaking.

"I have no idea what you're talking about," Nico lied, catching his boyfriend's confused and curious eye.

"Absolutely none," Hazel followed, the two of them holding back a wave of concealed giggles when Will's eyes flickered over the two of them. When he shrugged and rolled his eyes, the two best friends let their laughter slip.

By the time Hazel joined Frank, he was in the middle of ordering. Piper and Jason were off to the side, arguing over something Nico couldn't quite hear.

"Yeah, just a double-double, please," he asked, pulling out his debt card. There was a moment of hesitation on the cashiers face as she tried to piece together what Frank had just said.

"Umm…" the said, hand hovering over her screen.

"Dude, what?" Jason asked, raising a brow.

Frank didn't realise that everyone had been staring at him as he glanced between his friends.

"A double-double…?" he said again, this time a little more unsure.

"I'm sorry…" the cashier spoke, shaking her head.

"A double-double – black coffee, two cream-two sugar," he explained, moving his hands to emphasis the two different parts. "C'mon, it's not complicated."

Will just shook his head, still looking utterly discombobulated by Frank's previous statement.

After Frank paid for his coffee, he still wasn't settled.

"Look, I know you guys are American, but it's literally in the name. It's a double-double. You get two of each. Why would you not order it like that? It's so much simpler."

"Okay, you Canadian and your weird orders," Piper said, slowing shaking her head as if she understood.

"It's not weird! It's perfectly normal! It saves time and effort. You want three cream and three sugar? Triple-triple. It's right in the name! You want really weird? Then you order a Wayne Gretzky."

"What the fuck is a Wayne Gretzky?"

"Nine sugars, nine cream. Like his jersey number."

"Fuckin' who?"

"That sound's disgusting," Jason pointed out.

"Well, yeah," Frank agreed. "No one really orders that, unless there is something seriously wrong with them."

Nico and Will joined the others who continued to American vs. Canadian debate, and when Nico was asked to weigh in, he raised his hands.

"Yo, don't look at me. I'm Italian."

"Weren't you born in New Jersey?" Piper pointed out.

"Yeah, and? What about it?"

Piper rolled her eyes.

"You're American."

"Only on paper, babee."

"I can't believe I'm friends with you."

"Where would you be without me?"

"Better off," Piper snapped, but Nico just laughed.

"Yeah," he shrugged, "probably."

….

By the time the six of them finally made it to the park, the main event was in full swing. The lawn was covered in venders ranging from community programs to local queer shops. Every where you looked, there was queer people being unapologetically themselves.

Nico always felt a bit off at events like this. Since he had met Will, he had slowly become more accepting of himself, but it still was a nagging voice at the back of his mind telling him how wrong he was. At least at this point, the voice only spoke about him. But as the anxiety swelled, Will had slipped his hand into his own and squeezed. It was simple, but it grounded him.

Piper and Jason had made a bet at the beginning to see how many numbers the two of them could collect by the end of the night. There wasn't really a prize, but neither really cared as it was a matter of pride (pun unintentional) between them both. So, they had taken off earlier, and Frank and Hazel had plans to check out one of the smaller events. They had all agreed to meet back up when Will's dad was set to preform.

Nico didn't mind too much just spending time with Will, it actually helped calm his anxiety. Even though no one was looking at him, he still felt the pressure of being perceived at an event centered around the queer community.

He wasn't saying much, but Will hadn't taken it to heart. Every once in a while, Nico would crack some random joke or drop a comment and Will would swoop in without missing a beat. Will's hand was a lifeline and each gentle squeeze was a language only they could understand.

It had been about an hour of them slowly wondering around and checking out booths before Nico motioned that he was thirsty after running out of his coffee about ten minutes into them arriving. Will nodded as Nico made his way over to tent where they were handing out free water bottles. He had never been so grateful for free water in life entire life.

An older gentleman with his beard dyed bright pink smiled as he passed Nico a bottle. In one swift motion, Nico thanked the guy, cracked it open, and downing it in record speed.

"Need another one?" he asked, laughing slightly as Nico slowly lowered the practically empty plastic bottle. With a shy smile, he wiped his mouth.

"Yeah," he spoke gingerly, taking the bottle that was offered to him. He finished off the one he had been working on before the man took it from him to recycle. "Thanks."

"No problem, kid."

Just as Nico was about to head back, he stopped.

"Hey, can I get one more for…" Nico started to speak before pausing. The voice in the back of his mind was screaming at him not to finish the sentence, but he swallowed and pressed on. "For my boyfriend?"

Without a second thought, the man simply nodded and grabbed another one. There was a twist in his gut speaking those words.

Boyfriend.

That was a new one and he would have to get used to saying it out loud.

But there was an easy flow in speaking that word out loud in the one place where it was the norm.

Boyfriend.

It might take some getting used to, but it was warm in his mouth.

Boyfriend.

Yeah, Nico could do boyfriend.

He thanked the man once again before heading back out.

Nico scanned the area, looking for the six-foot blond man who looked like a lost puppy most of the time, but he couldn't quite make him out. There was a moment of panic, but he pushed it down and started to head towards where he had last left Will.

On his way, Nico stopped.

He felt his jaw clench as he was faced with a booth sponsored by a local church group.

Nico knew not all churches were like the ones he grew up going to, but it still was something he couldn't fit together. The image of the paster speaking to a young queer couple while an older woman was happily handing out what he could only make out as either candy or condoms completely contradicted his spiraling memories of hatred that was once spewed to him every Sunday morning.

It was a battle he could physically feel within him as he tried to piece together what he had been through. Here was the answer to all his problems, as if it was that simple. His mother's love of her religion and tradition was sitting side by side with every sinful thought he had ever had.

Why couldn't it be this easy?

All Nico had ever wanted was to fit in, but he hadn't ever been given the choice.

The tight, suffocating feeling was starting to return. He didn't even register he was staring until a gentle hand was pressed into the small of his back.

"Hey," Will spoke softly, smiling as Nico turned to meet his eye. He couldn't help but smile up at the taller blond boy.

"Hi," Nico said, shaking off any uneasy feeling he had been holding on it. But as he shook it off, there was still something holding on at the back of his mind.

"You okay?"

Nico nodded.

"Yeah, I was just looking for you."

"Well, you found me.

"Oh," Nico spoke, raising the water bottle he had grabbed from the tent, "water. I got you water."

Will's face lit up as he smiled. He bit his lip as he took the bottle.

"Thanks."

"Yeah, no problem."

Nico looked around for a few seconds while Will cracked it open and took a few sips.

"Also," Will said, capping the bottle, "I got you this."

Nico furrowed his brows as Will grabbed his wrist. Nico just watched as Will strapped a bracelet around his wrist.

"Ta da," he smiled, winking when Nico met his gaze.

As Nico turned his wrist around, he felt a pain in his chest begin to form. It was a simple rainbow bracelet. Nico was speechless.

"I know you don't do colour, but it's pride month and you have literally nothing rainbow, so I had to fix that."

"That's…" Nico tried to speak, but his mouth was just dry. He had the sudden urge to cry, but he didn't hate it. "That's gay."

Will rolled his eyes and took Nico's empty hand.

"Yeah, that's the point." Will jerked his head over his should. "Let's go."

Nico smiled.

"Okay."

….

Will and Nico had run into Piper and Jason as they wondered around. From what they could tell, Piper was in the lead, but Jason was dedicated. He claimed that he had twice the amount of chances than Piper, but she wasn't worried.

"I did hit on this girl I thought was guy," Jason had said, stealing Nico's half finished and long forgotten water bottle, "and to my defense, she did think I was a butch lesbian. So… who can say who was at fault for that one."

"Did you get her number?" Nico asked.

"I-" Jason stalled.

"No, but I did," Piper jumped in.

The two of them had run off in different directions, determined to beat the other.

The hot summer air was nice, but the clouds had disappeared from the sky, leaving the sun burning on their skin. Will had pulled them into a shaded area to sit down, far enough away from the event that it wasn't overwhelming them with noise.

Nico was grateful to be out of the sun and away from the large crowds. And listening to the rustle of the trees in between each burst of wind was calming.

There was a silence that stirred between the two of them, words needing to be spoken as they watched the other attendees go about their day.

Nico could feel Will's hand only inches from his own, wanting nothing more than to reach out and take it.

When he looked over, Will's head was tilted back, the wind ruffling his hair and the streaks of sun making their way through the leaves, painting his face in a leafy mural. Will's eyelashes were long and untouched. Everything about the curve of his silhouette was indescribable to him.

Nico pealed his eyes away, knowing that if he didn't, he would burn scorch marks into Will's side.

As he looked ahead, he moved his hand closer to Will's, taking Will's pinkie finger into his own. He heard Will softly snort and could sense his smile.

Nico took a deep breath in, his gaze going soft as he looked off into the grass.

"I just want to say sorry for how shitty I was this week," Nico started, feeling each word zapping the air out of his lungs. He knew Will was now looking at him, but if he looked over, the words would fail him, so he continued to stare ahead. "I treated you like shit when I should have told you what was going on."

Nico paused, giving Will a chance to speak if he wanted to, but when nothing came, he pressed on.

"I was scared," his voice sounded, low and barely audible. He felt Will's pinkie tighten around his own, reassuring him to go on. "I was so scared you were going to hate me, though I don't know why." Nico smiled to himself out of nerves.

He swallowed hard and looked over at Will, making sure to really face him.

"There were times I wanted to tell you, to reach out, but each time, something told me not too. It was stupid, I know, but the last thing I wanted to do was to make you think I hated you or that something was your fault."

Will opened his mouth to say something, but Nico cut him off.

"There is literally no excuse for how I treated you, I just want you to know I am so sorry and I will-"

"Nico," Will cut him off, taking his hand in his own. Nico only stared back at him, scared of the sound his voice would make if he tried to speak. "I…" Will swallowed hard and cleared his throat. "I need you to know I'm not mad at you."

"You're not? I thought you would have hated me for that."

"I could literally never hate you."

Nico didn't know how to respond to that. There was a crescendo in his chest that had reached its peak, louder than anything he had ever heard before.

"You should."

"Never."

"I wouldn't blame you."

"Because you blame yourself?"

Nico bit his lip.

"Look," Will started again, taking in a deep breath, "was I hurt? Yeah, I fucking was. And it sucked ass. But – but – I knew something had to be bothering you. I asked Piper and when she refused to give me a straight answer, I knew it had to be a big deal. I won't claim to know what it actually was, 'cause honestly, it was not this I was expecting." He made a motion of their connected hands, taking a firm grasp on Nico's. "And I knew you would tell me when you were ready, given enough time."

Nico laughed at that.

"But while it sucked to think something had changed between us, I never hated you for a second. Know that, given anything, that last thing I would do is hate you."

Nico wanted to cry, so he simply nodded and tightened his grip on Will's hand.

"I would never hate you, too."

"Good," Will smiled, bringing Nico's hand to his lips, kissing his middle finger. "I'll hold you to that."

The two of them had met up with Hazel and Frank for a small bit, grabbing something to eat as they swapped their bets on whether Piper or Jason would get more numbers. The odds were up in Piper's favour, noting that if they were at an event with more straight women, Jason would have a fighting chance.

Hazel pointed out that if he had more time to prepare and properly spot out the boys that would be into him, Jason would have the lead, but due to his lack of expertise on this subject, he's been backed into a corner.

When the two pairs parted ways, Will and Nico had only been stopped twice by people recognising Will from TikTok. The interactions had been brief, but it still surprised Nico each time. To him, Will was a loser – his loser – but still a loser nonetheless. But to everyone else, he was a public figure. A few times he had to remind himself that Will's dad was preforming on the main stage in a few hours.

They had decided to make a few more rounds around the venders, seeing if anything else would catch their eye.

Will had pulled them over to a vender, speaking with the person running it.

Nico was getting antsy standing in the same place as he spoke, so he wondered over to the next booth. He let his eyes roam over their wears before something caught his attention.

He picked up a similar bracelet to the one Will had bought him. He toyed with it in his hands before he looked over his shoulders to where Will was still chatting, smiling ever wide and bright. Nico couldn't help but smile softly to himself.

"How much?" Nico asked, showing the person who ran the booth bracelet.

"Five bucks," they informed him and Nico nodded.

He pulled out his wallet and handed them a five.

"Need a bag for that?"

Nico shook his head. "No, I'm good, thank you."

"Have a good one."

"Thanks, you too."

When Nico found himself back to Will's side, the blond was finishing up his conversation.

"Having fun?" Nico asked, his hands in his pocket.

"Thanks, bye." He turned to Nico and smiled. "Oh yeah."

The two started heading towards the main stage but Nico stopped them.

"Hey," he said as Will turned around, raising a brow.

"Hm?"

"I, uh…" Nico grabbed Will's hand and quickly put the bracelet he bought into his palm.

Will blinked a few times as he looked at the accessory in his hands, almost a little confused.

"I saw it and it kind of matched the one you got me, so…"

Will turned the blue, purple, and red bracelet over in his hands before he burst out into a smile.

"You," he started, shaking his head, "continue to surprise me every day, you know that, right?"

Nico bit his lip.

"Thank you," Will spoke softly, pulling Nico in close.

The smaller boy smiled as Will lifted his chin up and pressed a soft kiss to his lips. They lingered there for a moment before Nico pulled away first. His ears were hot and he was self conscious about them being in public.

"Can you help me?"

Nico nodded and grabbed the bracelet, closing the clasp around the blond's wrist. Will had it attached to the opposite wrist to Nico's.

"So we can match when we hold hands," he explained. Nico rolled his eyes.

"You're such a nerd."

"Hey, but I'm your nerd."

"Don't remind me."

"Your boyfriend," Will continued to poke, taking Nico's hand. He wiggled his eyebrows when Nico looked his way.

"Can you not?"

"Oh, I'm sorry. Your partner – significant other-"

"More like a significant annoyance."

"You love it."

"Shut up."

"Make me-"

Nico shoved Will's face, covering his mouth. The blond only laughed and pushed his hand away. He leaned into Nico' shoulder and kissed the side of his head.

Nico only rolled his eyes and hid his oncoming smile as they walked towards the stage, hoping to get a good spot before the others showed up.

….

"Y'all have to end it here," Will said, resting his weight on his hands as he leaned back.

Piper, who held a smug look, only raised a brow as Jason, sitting cross legged frantically scrolled through his phone, slowly shook his head.

"Yeah, Jace, we all know I won," she said, completely relaxed.

Hazel and Frank sat at Nico's side and watched contently. Frank was holding the snacks that Hazel was munching on (and Nico was stealing).

"Wait, this isn't over yet."

Nico just shook his head and leaned on Will's shoulder. The blond shifted his weight and ran a lazy hand across the small of his back. Nico closed his eyes and listened as his two friends bickered back and forth.

There was a break between performers. The opening act was a few local drag queens that had lasted just over an hour. Each one had a different act, so it never got too repetitive. The stage was now getting set up for Will's dad's performance. He was one of the headliners so the area was starting to really get packed. Thankfully they had gotten their spots when they did.

It was towards the end of the day and the clouds were out, keeping the area cooler. Everyone was hitting the end of their battery, so watching the performances was relaxing.

"I still can't believe your dad is performing again, Will," Hazel said, interrupted a shouting Piper and a whimpering Jason.

"Yeah, it's a little surreal seeing him getting ready to do music again."

"Well, he is working on an album so it's not surprising he's trying to get some hype," Nico pointed out.

"Oh yeah, he hasn't written new music in almost fifteen years, so I'm not surprised, either."

"Your dad was really hot in his twenties," Piper shouted, dodging an empty water bottle being thrown at her by Jason who was still pouting.

"Can y'all stop talking about how hot my dad was."

"He's a dilf," Piper added, to which Will groaned. "You don't want to admit it, but he is."

"I hate you."

"Dilf – dilf – dilf," Piper chanted with Nico and Hazel joining.

"I hate you all," Will muttered, running his hand over his face.

"That's a lie," Nico pointed out and Will only shoved him.

"You especially."

But Nico just laughed.

Being with his friends, nothing awkward standing between them, thing's felt right. Like there was peace once again. He still felt a twinge of guilt knowing that it was him that had put the space there to begin with, but now that things were starting to be mended, he didn't feel out of place.

The laughter fell naturally where I should have been, and he had never been more content.

The conversation continued to flow until their attention was ripped away and towards the stage where Will's dad had been announced. The crowd of people roared as he walked out, dressed like he never left the nineties.

He wore a button down with quite a few buttons undone and well tailored pants. From where they sat, he had a few necklaces on and his hair was half slicked back.

"Will," Piper said.

"I know," he groaned, covering his eyes his hands.

"Dude," Nico said, bemused.

"I can't believe this," Hazel added, followed by Frank saying, "He just… oh my."

"Can you guys stop eyeing my dad?"

"No way," Piper said, smacking Will's arm.

"Yeah, dilf is correct," Jason agreed.

"Stop!" But everyone just laughed and cheered for his father, leaving Will a groaning and embarrassed mess. "I swear I hate you all."

"Shut up, your dad is doing hot guy shit," Piper shushed him.

There were a sea of people screaming as Lester set up his mic, smiling as he spoke. They could barely hear him over the screams of people asking him to take off his shirt or losing their minds.

But once the show started, and the crowd died down slightly, things went back to smooth. It was still embarrassing for Will to see his dad perform the way he did, but it was something he had to deal with.

Nico continued to lean into Will's side and the blond was happy to pull him closer. He was warm, like the sun. Every inch on him that was touched by him was ignited and he would be dead before he wished it gone. The heat was enough to soothe the ache of all the pain he had put himself through these last few days.

Surrounded by all his friends, by the ones he loved the most at a place that wouldn't judge him for who he was born as was such a surreal experience. To see where he was compared to when he was ten was something he never would have believed.

If he could have shown ten-year-old him just how well his life was going now, maybe things would have been easier. That reassurance that he wasn't wrong, that he wasn't broken. That people wouldn't hate him.

He was loved and he loved those people back as equally as strong.

The hand on his back that flooded his senses being the strongest of them all.

Will's words of when he asked him if he could keep liking him were rushing back and flooding his mind. It had only been a week, and there was something certain about them. He could see it, almost all so clearly. Next week, the week after. Months, years. To be asked that question again, he knew with confidence that his answer would be yes. Over and over again, yes. He could keep liking him. And he was excited to do so. Ever so slowing, but all at once, just like he had before.

…..

That night, Nico was tagged in a TikTok.

It was a video reply to the comment "milfystunkfromoverthehedge – Tell me when they get together".

It started with Will settling the phone on the ground, the music playing without any other audio.

It's you, it's you, it's all for you

Will walked over to where Nico was standing, looking a little confused but smiling.

Everything I do

He grabbed Nico and pulled him closer, the two saying something but nothing from the original video is heard. Nico laughed as Will swayed him in his arms.

I tell you all the time

Will pulled him in and kissed him, one arm wrapped around his waist, keeping him close, and the other resting on his jaw. After a second, he raised the hand that was holding Nico's face and raised it, shaking it in the air.

Heaven is a place on earth with you

The video ends with the two of them resting their foreheads against one another, smiling and laughing about something the other had said.

A/N:Done.

we are done.

wow, its so weird to finish a story in such short time.

we still have one last part technically so ill save my final words for that, but this marks the end of Sour's canonical story line.

the week and a half we've spent with these guys have been leading up to this. I wish i could say more other than this entire chapter was written around that end tiktok. i had that planned since the beginning. but this is just the set up for what's to come. hold on because we still have Bitter and Sweet to be told. but for now, i hope you enjoyed this story that started out 100% as a joke i texted my friend at 1pm in the afternoon.

let me know your thoughts
