Hailey walks into the bullpen to find the rest of the team working on their paperwork from Jay's kidnapping.

"Where's Voight?" Hailey questions, noticing that their sergeant's office is empty and he is nowhere to be found in the bullpen.

"Had to take care of something at the Ivory Tower," Kim answers, looking up from her computer. "How's Jay?" she asks, causing the others to look up to the blonde for answers as well.

"Physically, he's going to be fine; right now, he's stiff and a bit sore. Mentally, I think he's going to be fine eventually. You know how he gets; he says he's fine, even when he isn't," Hailey answers rolling her eyes at her partner's usual antics. "Is Voight coming back at all today?"

"Not unless we get a case," Kevin answers. "If that happens, he's meeting us there and if not, he said we can leave on time."

"I know that you know," Hailey tells the officers of the group, wanting to get to the point.

"About Casper, yeah," Kim confirms.

"Jay knows too. I told him."

"Why?" Adam asks causing Kevin to slap him in the back of the head.

"Ignore him," Kevin tells Hailey. "What can we do?"

"Treat him the same."

"Did he not trust us?" Kim asks.

"He does, but he was skeptical of this whole idea and he didn't want it to affect his job," Hailey explains vaguely. "Adam wasn't helping with some of his comments about Casper," Hailey adds, glaring at the officer, this comment earning Kim's elbow into his ribcage.

"Would it affect him working here?" Kim asks worriedly.

"Will says it shouldn't since Casper's job is mostly to wake him from nightmares."

"Is this whole thing going to affect him?" Vanessa asks.

"You finding out?" Hailey clarifies.

"No, well yes, but him being taken and then us finding out, not on his terms?"

"I don't know."

"We should do something together."

"Like what?" Adam asks.

"If we get off at a decent time, we should have a game night or a movie night," Vanessa suggests. "If he's feeling up to it," she adds.

"I'll text him later to find out," Hailey offers.

"We can have it at my place," Kim offers. "It might be a little cramped though."

"We can have it at our place," Hailey offers. "Jay would be more comfortable there and Casper's been there before."

"I'm in," Kevin tells the group.

"I guess," Adam adds.

Both fortunately and unfortunately, the day is slow. Hailey takes this as a good sign for their hopeful plans for the night.

How you feel? Hailey asks Jay during her lunch break.

Bored.

We were talking about having a game night or a movie night tonight.

Have fun with Vanessa.

I mean the unit, minus Voight.

Oh…

What do you think?

Sounds fun… maybe I can come next time.

If you feel up to it, you can come tonight. I can pick you and Casper up and drop you off.

Are you sure?

Yeah. Think you feel up to it?

I'm going stir crazy.

I take that as a "yes"?

If I can get Will off of my case.

Just tell him that I will pick you up and drop you off. I am his favorite detective.

Sure, you are.

I am :)

Thanks

"Hey, you staying out of trouble?" Will questions when he calls later between patients.

"Yeah. Hey, you don't need to come over tonight."

"You're supposed to be taking it easy. Is Hailey coming over?"

"No, the team is going over to Hailey's to hang out."

"Need a ride?"

"No, Hailey said she could give me a ride."

"Okay," Will replies distractedly. "Listen, I have to go, mass cas.," he gives a quick explanation.

"Yeah, go."

Jay looks to Casper after hanging up, "Looks like it's just us."

Casper happily barks at Jay while wagging his tail.

"Yeah?" Jay asks as if he were having a real conversation with the pup.

"Jay in?" Kim asks Hailey on their way back from questioning a witness.

"Yeah, in his words 'as long as he can get Will off his case'," Hailey quotes her partner.

"Will driving him crazy?"

"I don't know who's driving who crazy more," Hailey rolls her eyes at the Halsteads' antics.

"So, what you're saying is, this will be good for him."

"Yeah."

"I hope we don't have to fight the boys on what we're doing."

"Probably will," Hailey laughs, exiting the car to update the others on what they have.

Making their way into the bullpen, she finds the rest of the unit sans Jay around the whiteboard.

"Good, you're back," Voight looks to them before filling them in on what they have found out.

Jay decides to bite the bullet and send a text to his brother canceling their plans, he loves his brother, not that that's something he'd actually tell anyone, but Will can also get annoying when he goes all mother-hen on him.

So, you don't need to come over tonight, Jay tells his brother.

He gets an answer almost immediately, You shouldn't be by yourself.

I'm not. The team is going to hang out at Hailey's tonight. She said she could give me a ride.

Are you sure you're up to it?

Yes, Mother.

Just checking. You know you can call if you need anything, right?

I know.

Okay, stay out of trouble.

No promises, Jay jokes.

JAY!

Okay. Okay. I will stay out of trouble, Jay promises.

Jay looks to Casper, "You ready to see the team tonight?"

Casper responds by barking happily and wagging his tail.

"I can't believe we actually got out on time," Ruzek comments as they walk out of the 21st to their cars.

"Neither can I," Hailey responds. "Meet at our place in an hour?"

The group agrees before heading their separate way, this time Vanessa goes with Hailey. "So, what's going to happen now?" Vanessa questions the blonde detective.

"Convince Jay that nothing is going to change."

"How hard can that be?"

"How long have you been with the unit?" Hailey teases the young Latina.

"Okay, I get it. How are we going to get him to see what we see?"

"That's going to be the hard part."

"Hey," Hailey greets when Jay opens the door for her.

"Hey," he responds while clipping the leash on Casper."

"You guys ready?"

"Yeah," Jay answers a little unsure.

"It's going to be okay. You're still the same Jay Halstead that we all know."

"Yeah, you just know something personal about me now."

"Jay, come on," Hailey sighs as they make their way to her car. "We're family, you don't have to be invincible around us. We all have something that we don't want the others to know, but we know that even if they did find out, we have each other's backs."

"I guess," Jay reluctantly agrees. "So, what are we doing?"

"I think we're deciding when we get there. We didn't know when we left the district."

"Fun," Jay rolls his eyes.

"Casper thinks it will be fun," Hailey laughs after the yellow lab barks happily.

"Casper doesn't know what the team is like," Jay mumbles as they pull up to Hailey's place. Jay lets Casper out of the back seat of Hailey's car as Hailey waits for them.

The two detectives enter the home to find Vanessa sitting at the counter on her phone.

"Jay!" Vanessa greets getting up to gently give him a hug.

"Hey, Vanessa," Jay awkwardly hugs her back. "When's everyone else getting here?" he questions the two women.

"Should be soon. Kim texted, said her and Adam were in the way. And Kevin said that he would be on his way after his siblings called."

"Cool."

"Hey," Vanessa grabs Jay's attention. "I'm sorry."

"What?" Jay responds, confusion clear on his face.

"I'm sorry about… this whole thing," she waves her hand vaguely around the room. "It's my fault that we found out about Casper before you were ready."

"It's not your fault. You were just trying to be a good friend."

"But still, it wasn't your timeline."

"Vanessa, it's fine. Really," he tells her again, and before she can rebuttal they can hear a knock on the door, announcing the arrival of Kevin, Kim, and Adam.

Soon after the rest of the unit arrives to Hailey and Vanessa's home, they settle on playing Clue. Choosing their pieces; Vanessa choosing Miss Scarlett, Jay as Colonel Mustard, Hailey as Mrs. White, Kevin as Mr. Green, Kim as Mrs. Peacock, and Adam as Professor Plum, they start the game going in that order.

The game goes on, with Kim and Vanessa getting the most enthusiastic about the game. Casper for the most part staying close to Jay, only picking his head up a few times when Vanessa or Kim let out a particularly loud shriek and Adam coming close to their level of excitement, minus the shrieking. The game lasts close to an hour with a few breaks, breaks being either Hailey or Kevin trying to calm down the more excited members of their team.

When they finally finish the game, it is revealed that Professor Plum was the murderer, using the candlestick in the library, with Kevin as the winner, having guessed correctly.

"Guess we know who should be next in line for detective," Jay comments, making Kevin smirk.

"Come on man, we're right here," Adam points to himself and Kim.

"And Kev is the one who got it," Jay shoots back.

"I think we should watch a movie instead of playing another game," Hailey suggests.

"Good idea," Kevin adds, not knowing if he can take another round of games of both Vanessa and Kim shrieking.

"Hey!" Kim slaps his shoulder.

"Burgess, I love you, but my eardrums don't," he laughs at his best friend.

"What do you guys want to watch?" Hailey questions, grabbing the remote.

"No rom-coms," Adam voices.

"Why not?" Kim looks at him.

"What about action?" Kevin looks at her.

"No, we get enough of that on the job," Kim argues.

"What about a Marvel movie?" Vanessa suggests. "Its action, but it's not anything close to what we deal with at work."

The rest of the team looks to each other before agreeing.

"The Incredible Hulk," Kevin offers.

"No, Thor," Adam disagrees.

"What about Guardians of the Galaxy?" Vanessa suggests.

"No, that's the worst one," Adam responds to her.

"No, it isn't, it's under-rated."

"I second that, it is under-rated," Kim rolls her eyes at Adam.

"Jay, you pick," Hailey looks to her partner.

"Why does he get to pick?" Adam questions?

"Because he's the one recovering."

Before Adam can put his foot in his mouth, Kim stops him from speaking with an elbow to his ribs.

"Um, The First Avenger?"

"Of course you pick that one," Adam comments, only to be slapped in the back of the head, this time by Hailey.

"I'm gonna make popcorn. Anyone else want some?" Vanessa asks, trying to change the subject.

"I'm good," Kim responds.

"I'll take some," Kevin looks to her.

"Me too," Adam adds.

"I'm good Vanessa," Hailey looks away from setting up the movie.

"Jay, what about you?" Vanessa looks to the detective.

"Um, I can get it."

"No, I've got it. Kev can help me," she states as she looks from Jay to Kevin.

Hearing this, Kevin gets up from his spot and moves into the kitchen to help her.

"I'm going to take Casper out before we start the movie," Jay tells the group.

"Do you want me to do that?" Kim looks to her friend.

"No, I got it. I need to move around," Jay answers as he stiffly gets up. "Come on, boy," he calls the yellow lab. Casper happily follows his owner.

"Ready?" Hailey looks to everyone once Vanessa and Kevin come back from the kitchen and Jay brings Casper back in. Once getting the okay from everyone, Hailey starts the movie.

Once the movie starts, everyone watches it without a problem- the only distribution is Kevin throwing pieces of popcorn at Adam when he falls asleep halfway through the movie and starts snoring.

When Adam's snoring gets too loud for the rest of the team, Kim pokes him in the ribs to wake him up. "What?" he looks to her confused and picks up a piece of popcorn that is laying on his lap.

"You fell asleep and were snoring," Kim whispers, laughing at him.

Going back to the movie, they finish it without anyone else falling asleep. "We should all probably go home. We have an early day tomorrow," Kim suggests after they help clean up.

"Before we do, I, um, I wanted to talk with you guys," Jay speaks up.

"What's up?" Kevin looks at him.

"Um, I know you guys know about why I really got Casper."

"Jay, you don't need to tell us if you're not ready," Kim looks to her friend.

"No, it's okay. I want to. You guys deserve the truth," he responds. "So, maybe close to a year and a half ago now, my PTSD started getting, I was having a lot of trouble with it. I don't really know how it came up, but somehow Will and Hailey got the idea that I should get a dog and train it to be a service dog for my PTSD."

"How did you know it was going to work? What would have happened if it didn't?" Vanessa asks, curiosity clear in her voice.

"It did, but if it didn't, he was just going to be a normal house dog."

"But he helps?" Kevin clarifies.

"Yes. A lot."

"What are you training him to do?" Kim looks between Jay and Casper.

"A few things, but the biggest one is to wake me up if I get caught in a nightmare."

"Guys he's still the same Jay. Nothing's changed except he got a dog," Hailey reminds them.

"And this isn't going to affect you at work."

"Not unless there's a trigger, but I don't normally come across them at work."

"Did you know he was going to be this well behaved when you got him?" Kevin questions.

"Not at all."

"And you're teaching him yourself?"

"Yes, but Hailey and Will have been helping me."

Jay looks to his team, trying to read them, "I'm hugging you," Vanessa warns him before getting up to pull the detective into a hug. Kim then joins a second later. Jay is stiff at first before awkwardly returning it.

"Are you guys mad that I didn't tell you before?"

"No," Kim answers before anyone else could. "We know that you like to keep things close to the vest, you just needed to wait until you were ready."

Both Kevin and Adam nod in agreement.

"We're just sorry that we found out before you were ready," Kim adds.

"It's okay. I guess the universe had different plans."

"Guys, it's getting late," Hailey tells them. "Tomorrow is our on-call day."

"Yeah, we should probably get going," Kevin agrees. "Need a ride?" he looks over to Jay.

"No, I have a ride," he looks to Hailey who nods.

"Ooh," Adam teases.

"It was the only way Will would let me come," Jay rolls his eyes.

"Ready Jay?" Hailey asks.

"Yup."

"I think went better than you thought it would go," Hailey comments on the drive back to Jay's.

"It wasn't terrible," Jay agrees.

"Does it feel better now that you don't have to keep this a secret?"

"A little."

"I'm glad."

The rest of the ride is silent. "Text me when you get home?" Jay asks when they arrive at his building.

"Okay, I will. Stay out of trouble, I'll see you tomorrow."

"Okay," he smiles before getting out of her car with Casper.

Jay enters his apartment to find Will already there, "How long are you staying?" he asks his older brother.

"Until I can trust that you won't hurt yourself overdoing it," the red-head replies.

"I'm not that bad."

"Sure you're not," Will rolls his eyes. "So how was it?"

"It was okay. Our eardrums might be broke from Kim and Vanessa's screaming so we only played one game before switching to a movie. And I told them the truth about Casper… I mean they figured it out, but I explained it to them."

"How'd they react."

"They were okay with it."

"I knew they would be. They care about you. We all do," he reminds his younger brother.

A/N: WOW! It's been a while. So, this chapter is more of a filler chapter. Definitely did not keep my schedule, I currently don't have one. I have a lot that I write and feel like I never have time, but I have decided after this and SiaSS, I will not post any more multi-chapter fics unless they are complete so there is a set update schedule.

A/N 2: I'm also working on character charts on excel for each show and individual character timelines and an overall timeline because I'm a nerd for details in my writing, so keep an eye out on Tumblr for those. I'm trying to be more active over there so send me asks if you feel like it. And I'm slowly working on Cover Art for each story, which is also posted on Tumblr.

Other Stories:

+ Rock Bottom; Hiatus until further notice. Hard edit and more or less re-writing the whole thing.

+ Silence is a Strange Sound; In-progress- working on chapter 9. If you want to see anything in that one, go comment on it on that post, or message me on Tumblr or Twitter.

+ Whump prompt by floopdeedoodee (spelling?): in-progress. Still on chapter 2 of five.

+ Awareness One Shots; More to come.

+ Tumblr Appreciation Weeks: I fully plan to do Upstead, Stellaride, and One Chicago Appreciation Week posts. I just want to finish all of the prompts in the respective weeks before I post anything for them.

+ I also have 7 PD fics planned and 1 one shot; 3 Fire one-shots, and 1 Fire fic planned; a crossover fic between Fire and PD; a crossover fic between One Chicago (including Justice), SVU, and the 3 FBI shows; and an A/U OC Crossover Fic. Some of these are prompts/requests that I have gotten in the past, so if you have given me one before it is in there.

Comments & Questions:

Since most of them were falling under the same response, I just want to thank y'all for reading and sticking with me, especially since posting is so sporadic. I can't promise that I will go back to regular updates anytime soon, but I can promise that I won't forget about any story that I start and if it is already posted, it will have an ending.
