Jay was pulled out of the ambulance and wheeled into med.
"Jay halstead, GSW to the spine, through and through out the stomach. Losing blood as we speak. Very tachycardic"
There was already a team of doctors waiting for jay and prepared for him. Natalie, who was dating jays brother Will was his doctor.
"I need O-neg now, I need a CT and someone page the OR, he's going to need surgery"
Voight and the team were in the waiting room waiting for jay, "Sarge, we got a lead from a witness. He was seen getting into a red 4 door sedan heading downtown. We got a partial plate and we just picked it up on a pod 5 blocks from here" Atwater said
"Right, all of you get back to the district and follow this lead. He's not getting away with this again."
Everyone left and jay went into surgery. Voight walked up two flights of stairs until he got to haileys room. He knocked on the door and placed her bag down on the chair.
"Where's jay?" She said
"Kim picked some more things out so you had plenty to go"
"Hank... where's jay?"
"Matt was at the apartment when Kim and jay were leaving and jay chased after them. Jay lost him and they came back to the district to let us know what had happened. Jay was leaving the district to come here and we heard gunshots coming from outside. Matt had walked into the car park and he shot jay"
"Where" Hailey said wiping a tear from her eye
"In the back. The bullet went through out his stomach"
"Is he alive?"
"He's in surgery"
Hailey pulled off her blanket and moved all the wires out of her way. She crawled off the bed and grabbed her back,
"Hailey?"
"I'm ending this Voight"
"I can't let you do that"
"I want him dead. He deserves to die" her voice broke and she took a deep breath, "after... after what he did to me. To jay. I can't have him waiting around to try and kill someone else I love because he told me he would. He said he'd kill me, then jay and the team"
Voight walked towards Hailey and looked at her,
"Hailey, this is a huge risk. He is a dangerous man"
"I just want him out of my life. I want him gone. I just want to be able to live my life happy. With jay. I can get him"
"You went through a hell Hailey. And you're still healing"
"It's gonna take me a while to heal from this Voight. Might as well add it to the pile"
"We do this together Hailey. And we'll make him pay"
Hailey got dressed and walked out to the nurses station where she saw Will,
"Hey I need to go for a couple of hours will"
"Hailey. You aren't well enough to be running around out there Hailey. You went through a lot, you have a lot of injuries and some are distressing-"
"They're all distressing injuries Will but I have to find him"
"Hailey, I can't approve something like this"
"YOUR BROTHER IS LYING ON A TABLE IN SURGERY RIGHT NOW."
"Hailey" Voight said
"I spent a long time with my monster of a partner, he won't stop. He'll come back"
Will looked at Hailey, "you've got two hours"
"Thankyou"
Hailey walked out the hospital with Voight and got into his car. They drove to the district and she walked inside with Voight. The whole place became silent as she walked in as people were staring. Platt came from behind the desk,
"You look like a ghost" she said tearing up
"A ghost that got hit by a train"
Platt chuckled and Hailey leant forward and gave her a hug. Platt hugged her back and she continued on with the rest of her day. Hailey struggled to get up that stairs but as she got to the top, the whole team where there waiting. Kim pulled out a chair and Hailey slowly placed herself into it.
"How are you?" Kim said
Hailey looked around at everyone, "I know I look a mess guys and I feel like one but I want to catch him so he can never hurt anyone else again"
"So how are we going about this plan?" Voight said
"It's easy. I call him"
"Call him"
"Yeah. I know what I'm doing. Have you got my phone?"
"Yeah, it's here. Kim opened her drawer and pulled it out"
Hailey put the phone on speaker as it rang,
"Hello?" She said
"Hailey!" The voice came down the phone
"Yeah it's me. I got your flowers"
"You did. Good, where are you?"
"I was in the hospital but I snuck out. I didn't want to be there anymore"
"I'm really sorry for what I did Hailey, I snapped. You made me so mad. I'm sorry that I got you but Hailey, I'm sorry for what I did you know when I-"
"We don't need to talk about that"
" I tried to come back but the police were there, they're everywhere I go"
"I know Matt, no one will leave me alone and this is the first time they've gave me my cell back"
"I want you back with me Hailey"
"Me too baby"
"Are you going to come back to me?"
"Yeah of course. Where are you?"
"I'm at the apartment. I had been watching it out for a while and no one had came back"
"I have something to tell you hails"
"What?"
"That officer, you work with. Jay..."
"Yeah?"
"I killed him"
"Did you?"
"For you hailey"
"Okay. I'm gonna come home soon but can you do me a favour and pick up our favourite take out"
"Yeah. I love you"
"I.. love you too"
Hailey hung up and put her head in her hands, Adam put his hand on her back and she jumped,
"I'm sorry Hailey"
" no you're okay. It's not your fault. It's mine"
"No it's not your fault. I shouldn't of, it was just instinct"
Hailey grabbed his hand, stood up and pulled him in for a hug, "you guys are my family and I would never be scared of you but after what he did it's just made me a little fragile, but I am going to be ok"
"What's the next part of your plan Hailey?" Voight asked
"I go to the apartment"
"Hailey, you can't be near him" Kim said
"We have to catch him. And you'll be there. Let's go"
Hailey walked into her apartment with Voight and Atwater as Kim and Adam stayed outside in the surveillance van. Voight and Atwater waited in the apartment next door waiting for her sign which was 'we are done'. Hailey paced around the apartment waiting for him to come back. She heard the key turn in the door and her stomach dropped. The door opened and he was stood there with takeout. He came in and placed it in the counter.
"Hailey" he ran over to her and gave her a hug
"Hi" she said
"Are you ok?" He stepped back and looked at her face, "I'm really sorry hails, I didn't mean to do that"
"It's okay Matt. I'm home now"
"When did you leave the hospital?"
"Today. I grabbed my things and left. I felt like they never wanted me to leave"
He looked around the apartment, "where are your bags?"
"In the bedroom"
"Okay, you hungry?"
"Yeah but I need to talk to you first"
"You hurt me a lot after you promised you would never do it again but why Jay?"
He stepped towards her and grabbed her arm, "he was just in the way"
"But he didn't do anything Matt. He was my partner at work"
"I could see how he looked at you. He wanted to be with you"
"He means a lot to me Matt. They all do."
"You need to listen to me Hailey-"
"Please don't get angry at me"
"Angry. I'm not angry. You just don't listen. Jay clearly liked you and I wasn't going to let that happen"
"But you're wrong! Jay isn't dead. You failed"
"You bitch" Matt backhanded Hailey in the face,
"That's it Matt, be a big man and continue to beat up the person you loved for years"
"I did love you but you drive me insane"
"You attacked me Matt. Multiple times I have to cover bruises and scratches that you gave me. I had people questioning me day after day asking me what had happened and I had to think of every excuse there was"
"I apolog-"
"YOU RAPED ME MATT. TWICE. YOU TOOK AWAY MY DIGNITY. MY LIFE"
Voight and the team were listening and waiting,
"Sarge we need to get in there" Adam said
"Wait for haileys signal. She needs to do this for herself"
Hailey paced around the room, "I can't be with you. I don't wanna be anywhere near you. You make me sick"
"I make you sick! You are impossible to deal with. You are crazy"
"Crazy" she scoffed "you took anyway everything I loved about myself. You stripped me down to the little girl that used to live with my dad all those years ago and I said I would never let anyone treat me like that" her voice broke as she cried
"So what are you going to do now?"
"I'm leaving Matt and you're gonna pay for what you have done"
"I'm gonna pay? Hailey there's no one here to protect you" he ran toward he and pushed her on to the couch. She hit her head in the table behind and grabbed it, "we are done!" Hailey screamed in his face.
"Let's go" Voight said
Voight kicked the door open and he held his gun up. He pulled Matt backwards and threw him on the floor,
"Come on Matt. Show me what a big guy you are" Voight kicked him in the stomach and he rolled over
Hailey crawled off the couch and pushed herself up against the wall. Voight got down next to Matt and pushed his gun against his head,
"You can't kill me"
"Nope I can't, but the place you're gonna go. As a woman beater, you won't get on very well and I know people in that prison. I've been there myself" Voight pulled him up and through him against the wall. He cuffed him and threw him over to two patrol officers who had come as backup.
Voight walked over to Hailey and sat down next to her. She had her arms wrapped around her knees and she was just sat,
"It's over" she said
"It's over Hailey" she leaned over and put her head onto Voight chest and he hugged her.
"Can you take me somewhere?"
"Where?"
"To the hospital. To jay" she said.
