Hailey walked into med with Voight and looked around for a doctor. Will walked out of the locker room.
"Will?" Hailey said
"Hey guys"
Hailey hugged Will and looked at him, "you look like hell Will"
"Did you get him?" Will said
"Yeah we got him" Voight nodded
"Why don't you guys come with me. I'll talk to you somewhere more private"
Voight and Hailey followed Will into an empty room,
"What's going on?" Hailey asked
"Jay came out of surgery about an hour ago but there were some complications. The bullet was a through and through but as the bullet went through it hit jays spine. He's in and out of sleep but so far it's looking like-"
"He's paralysed" Hailey asked
"He can't seem to feel anything below his waist. It could just be swelling and bruising but it's early days and we don't know yet. Our Scans are clear enough for us to know due to the trauma"
"I want to see him" Hailey said
"Come on. I'll take you to him"
Hailey followed will and he took her to the door of jays room. Hailey walked in and walked towards his bed. She sat down in the chair and took some deep breaths as she was still feeling weak. Jay was laid flat in the hospital bed and he started to turn his head. He turned his head to the right and looked at Hailey,
"Hailey?"
"Hey jay, I'm here now"
"Where have you been?"
Hailey stroked jays head and looked at him, "we got him, I got him"
"How?"
"I played him"
"He's gone"
"Yeah. He's out of our lives for good"
Jay grabbed haileys hand and squeezed it, "Did Will tell you?"
"Yeah baby he did"
"He said.. I might not get the feeling back. This is my life Hailey. My job"
"You just have to take Day by day Jay. There's always a what if, It might come back. It will take time"
"My life, if I don't get this back"
"Look at me jay. Your life is never going to be over. You have me. I love you jay halstead"
"You do?"
"Always have, always will"
"I love you too"
Hailey leaned forward and kissed jay, she grabbed his hand and held it tight,
"Promise jay, you and me are gonna be happy always"
"I will never hurt you Hailey ever. After what has happened lately I want to go at your pace and I want to make sure that you are always comfortable"
"And that is why you're my favourite person ever"
Hailey got up and laid next to jay and she wrapped her arms around him, "I trust you jay, with my life"
Jay and hailey both nodded off the sleep together and they stayed there for the night. Voight stood at the door and checked on them before he left and went home with the rest of the team.
The next morning Hailey woke up and got off of jays bed. She stretched and went to the toilet. She stood and looked in the mirror at the bruises around her face, the past 12 hours of looking after jay had made her forget what had happened but it had all just come rushing back. Hailey closed her eyes and the flashbacks came flooding in and she remembered everything that happened. She sat on the floor and put her head in her hands, she cried as quietly as she could until she heard jay saying her name. She wiped her eyes and stood up walking out.
"Are you ok?" She said as she looked at him sat up in bed
"I was wondering where you were, are you ok?"
"I'm fine jay. How are you feeling?"
"I don't know. Sore. When are you getting discharged from here?"
"Today I think. They said I'm healing really well and I'm well enough to go home" Hailey stared off out the window, "home" she scoffed
"You have a home Hailey. Right here with me"
"Jay I can't ask you to take that step already. Not this soon"
"Hailey there's no one else I'd rather have with me and in no disrespect to you, I think I might need some extra help"
"As long as you're ok with it"
"I promise jay"
Hailey kissed jay and looked at him, "i love you"
"I love you too" he replied.
