Minerva sat in her library with Malcolm and Robbie. "What do you mean," she asked suprised. "How could I have changed the course of the wizarding world? I haven't done anything."
"The Unspeakable Department said there was a time disturbance before the attack on Caithness," Malcolm answered. "You and Màthair are aware of that already, aren't you?"
Minerva stared at her brothers for a moment or two before nodding her head. "There was a visitor but I never saw them," she admitted. "She spoke with Màthair only."
"Why," Robbie asked. "Who would be crazy enough to meddle with time like that?"
"Malcolm invented the device used to cause the time disturbance," Minerva said with a smirk. "The visitor informed Màthair if she didn't pick up her wand again that everyone with the exception of Malcolm and myself would be murdered including our neighbors."
"What," Malcolm said horrified.
"The visitor was my eighteen year old, half starved, battered daughter," she whispered emotionally. "In her timeline, I was captured there and suffered greatly. Because the soulbond with Dougal hadn't been established, I was too broken to help the way she needed me to. I gave her up for adoption in that timeline and never inform her of who I was so I could protect her. Apparently I managed to give her dearest friend Malcolm's contact information before I took a killing curse meant for her. Malcolm in that timeline, theorized Màthair carrying her wand and protecting Dougal while I was incapacitated would change things."
"But why?" Robbie asked confused. "Would a soulbond change that much?"
"If a person dies without establishing the soulbond, the remaining person becomes distant, less emotional," Malcolm explained. "Think of Min at 25 as to the Min now. When she walked away from Dougal the first time, her smiles were tight, her eyes dimmer. She became painfully unhappy even if she tried to hide it."
Minerva nodded her head. It was true although she didn't like to think of those days anymore. She couldn't imagine life without her Dougal. "The visitor also informed Màthair of Voldemort's Horcuxes which have all been found and destroyed."
"Horcuxes," Robbie said horrified at the notion.
"Afraid so," she admitted. "All that we need now is to gain more control from the pureblooded bigots and defeat Voldemort."
"You know how that happens, don't you?" Malcolm asked.
"I do," she admitted. "The device that brought Hermione and her friend back in this timeline gifted them with their previous knowledge. I am aware of how and when Voldemort does attack; however, I am unsure if I can stand back and allow it to happen."
"If you have already changed the timeline, shouldn't there also be a different way to end him?" Robbie asked. "Malcolm just said you changed the course of the wizarding world. Couldn't you change it a bit more?"
Minerva smiled brightly at her brother. "I suppose I could!"
Halloween 1981 arrived sooner than Minerva wanted. She and her brothers had worked on their plans to change the Potters fate. They were unsure if they could save Lily from her sacrifice but were fairly confident they could save James.
Malcolm and Robbie had argued with their sister when she informed them she would be at the Potters that evening. "You are carrying twins," Malcolm said hotly. "You will not endanger my nephews!"
Minerva opened her mouth to protest before Robbie cut her off. "The Potters have you listed as their next choice for guardian of Harry. Wouldn't it be wiser to stay out of harm's way in case we are unable to save the Potters?"
"Outsmarted by the youngest," she muttered as she threw her hands up in defeat.
Their plan had worked although the Potters were severely injured in the process. They saved James Potter from the killing curse but was unable to save him from the slashing curse that hit him. Robbie had managed to get him to St. Mungo's in the nick of time.
Malcolm had stayed behind and had followed Voldemort slowly up the stairs. Lily's sacrifice was gravely important in the past timeline and they feared stopping it entirely. As Voldemort cast the killing curse at Lily, Malcolm silently cast a very old protective spell on her. The killing curse was absorbed by the protective spell; however, the green color of the killing curse illuminated her before she lost consciousness.
Malcolm slightly watched as Voldemort cast the killing curse upon Harry and watched it rebound back to the self-proclaimed Dark Lord. Voldemort's body disintegrated before his eyes and Harry cried out in pain. He quickly made his way to the child and picked him up. "Easy Harry," he whispered.
"Is he alright," croaked Lily who had barely managed to open her eyes.
"The bastard cursed the cut on his head," Malcolm answered. "There's an old ritual spell to remove the curse but a sacrifice must be made by a loved one."
"I will sacrifice anything for Harry," she whispered emotionally.
Malcolm nodded his head, laid Harry near his mother and began chanting in an old language. Colors swirled around Lily and Harry. As the chanting continued, Harry's cut released a dark mist. The baby cried out in pain but Malcolm continued to chant. Lily screamed out as a glowing blue light pulsed from her and heated up her insides. The blue light destroyed the dark mist as the chanting ended and Lily slipped into unconsciousness.
Malcolm picked up Harry and held the upset baby close as he sent a patronus to his sister. A few minutes passed as he waited for her. She immediately reached for Harry as he quickly apparated with an unconscious Lily Potter to St. Mungo's.
"I have you love," she cooed to Harry as she apparated with him to have him checked out. "I shan't leave you."
Minerva apparated home with Harry firmly in her arms. James and Lily would make it but they had extensive damage they would have to recover from but Harry had been fine as soon as the cut on his forehead had been healed and he had been given a calming draught.
Charles and Dorea had been rather distraught by the attack on their family and was unable to care for little Harry. "You focus on James and Lily and I will take Harry with me," she had offered. "Hermione has a way of distracting him better than most."
"Thank you Minerva," Charles had whispered as he held his overwhelmed wife.
"Let's get you cleaned up and feed then you can snuggle with me," she cooed as she took him to the restroom.
Dougal merely held the covers up for her as Minerva came into the room, freshly showered, with a clean Harry in her arms. She settled in the bed and carefully adjusted Harry to lay on her shoulder so he slept on.
"How are James and Lily?" he asked quietly.
Minerva offered her husband a tight smile before answering, "Battered but they shall make it. Lily is unable to have more children. The ritual to save Harry required a sacrifice and her reproductive system is what magic decided to take."
"They are still so young," Dougal said sadly.
"They are," she agreed. "Lily is taking it far better than I anticipated. How long has Hermione been in here?"
Dougal gave his wife a guilty look. "She was upset," he answered. "I didn't even attempt to put her in her room"
Minerva chuckled at her husband before kissing him lovingly. She pecked a kiss on her sleeping daughter's forehead before closing her eyes. "I would of done the same," she admitted. "I love you Dougal."
