Chapter 3: The Summons

Albus Dumbledore sat in his office at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. He had just received an report from his informant at Privet Drive. Arabella Figg, was a squib, but she had her uses. Particularly as a spy to keep an eye on young Harry. She reported she hadn't caught a glimpse of the boy yet, but that was expected. Albus was certain the Dursley's would try to hide the boy from their neighbors until they could no longer keep him hidden. This was perfect no one would be the wiser until it was too late.

He was preparing to write Severus to ask him to come be a potions master at Hogwarts. He had the perfect speech to get the broken hearted man to agree to be his pawn. He began penning the letter when an owl swooped in to his office from a high window and landed before him. He eyed the letter, From the Ministry, what would they want? He thought be for pulling the letter from the owls leg and watched it immediately fly away. Albus opened the letter and read:

Albus Percival Wulfric Brian Dumbledore,

You are hereby requested to be present at the Ministry on December 3rd, 1981 at 10AM for a hearing in Court Room 7. The hearing in question is highly confidential and can not be discussed in a letter. Upon your arrival you must surrender you wand when entering the courtroom. This will be asked of all in participation as the nature of the hearing may upset many in attendance. Please keep this matter confidential as everything will be reveal once the hearing begins. We look forward to your attendance.

Amelia Bones

Director of the Department of Magical Law Enforcement.

Albus laid the letter down and thought hard, What on earth could be happening at this hearing? Oh well, they probably just need me to act as Chief Warlock so I'll be there. He then laid the letter aside and continued his letter to Severus.

Severus Snape was at his home in Spinner's end when he to received and owl from the Ministry. Severus had still been grieving the loss of Lily. He felt as if a part of his soul was also gone. When the owl arrived he took the letter and opened it:

Severus Snape,

You are hereby requested to be present at the Ministry on December 3rd, 1981 at 10AM for a hearing in Court Room 7. The hearing in question is highly confidential and can not be discussed in a letter. Upon your arrival you must surrender you wand when entering the courtroom. This will be asked of all in participation as the nature of the hearing may upset many in attendance. Please keep this matter confidential as everything will be reveal once the hearing begins. Please understand this will not be an attempt to lure you into a trial. We have no intention of charging you with anything. We are merely asking for you to attend this hearing to listen and observe. Upon arrival do not speak to anyone in attendance, simply sit were you are designated to sit and wait patiently. We look forward to your attendance.

Amelia Bones

Director of the Department of Magical Law Enforcement.

Severus stared at the letter, What on earth? Fine I'll go. Albus has already assured me I won't be prosecuted. He laid the letter down and laid back sighing, "Lily…I miss you!" he mumbles as he begins sobbing again.

Andromeda Tonks was sitting in her living room while her eight year old daughter sat on the floor looking into a hand mirror and changing her hair color repeatedly. Brown, blond, red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple; the girl stopped when she changed it to pink and turned to her mother, "Mummy, Mummy look!" the girl said excitedly, "Doesn't it look pretty?"

Andromeda chuckled, "Its lovely dear." She responded when she heard a tapping at the living room window. She turned and saw a Ministry owl sitting there with a letter attached to its leg. She stood and went to the window opening it. The owl immediately held out its leg. Andromeda took the letter and read the front: Edward and Andromeda Tonks. "For both of us?" she then turned to her daughter, "Nymphadora go tell your father to come here then go wash up for dinner."

The girl snarled, "Mum! Stop calling me by my full name I hate it!"

"Now young lady!" Andromeda scolded her daughter.

The girl groaned and got up skipping out of the room to find her father. It took Ted about five minutes before he joined his wife in the living room, "Dora said you needed me love?"

"Yes dear," she held out the letter, "We got a letter from the Ministry. Its addressed to both of us."

"Well lets see what it say then." Ted takes the letter and opens it before reading it aloud to his wife:

Edward (Ted) and Andromeda Tonks,

You are hereby requested to be present at the Ministry on December 3rd, 1981 at 10AM for a hearing in Court Room 7. The hearing in question is highly confidential and can not be discussed in a letter. Upon your arrival you must surrender you wand when entering the courtroom. This will be asked of all in participation as the nature of the hearing may upset many in attendance. Please keep this matter confidential as everything will be reveal once the hearing begins. Upon arrival do not speak to anyone in attendance, simply sit were you are designated to sit and wait patiently. We look forward to your attendance.

Amelia Bones

Director of the Department of Magical Law Enforcement.

The couple looked at each other confused, "Could they be calling you to represent someone?" Andromeda asks.

"Why would they call you as well if they just need me to represent someone." Ted replied, "No something else is going on here." The man said rubbing his chin.

His wife could see her husbands lawyer brain churning trying to discover the reason. "Don't pop a blood vessel dear we will learn the reason in two days. Now go wash up for dinner." She says before heading to the kitchen to finish up with dinner.

Minerva McGonagall was holding the summons from the ministry in her hand. Remus was standing across from her holding his as well. "Looks like Amelia is finally ready to begin the show." Minerva grinned.

Remus smiled as well but only faintly. He had only just recovered from his most recent transformation, "It would appear so. God I can't wait to see Sirius." The man smiled.

"Pa' Foo!" Harry called from his spot on the floor.

"Yes Harry, Pa' Foo is coming home." Minerva said leaning down and rubbing the boys head.

"Yay Pa' Foo! Pa' Foo!" the boy clapped excitedly.

Sirius Black was leaning against the wall of his cell. His face was covered in tears as the Dementors were making him relive his darkest moment. Over the last month they had forced him to remember finding James and Lily's body a total of forty-three times. Along with numerous other horrid memories. He had just completed his most recent torture visit where he was once again force to see Lily and James' dead bodies. In the few hours he wasn't being tortured he would transform into his animagus form. It was the only way he could hold on to his sanity.

Sirius was preparing to once again transform and get some rest when he heard the doors to their ward open. He groaned thinking the dementors were coming again. Then he heard foot steps, Humans? He thought. He sat back and waited figuring they were coming for another of his ward mates. He decided to wait until they left before getting his rest.

Sirius was completely baffled when the visitor in question stopped at his cell, "Get up Black!" the man barked.

"What going on?" Sirius asked looking up at the man his eyes practically dead.

"No questions just come on!" the man opened the cell, "Hurry up I don't want to be in this ward any longer than I have to."

Sirius stood shakily, "Alright calm down." He said as he started stumbling toward his cell door.

The man slapped magic restraining cuffs on Sirius wrists before roughly leading him out of the ward. Sirius assumed he was being taken to an interrogation room, but was shockingly surprised when he was led to the shore of the island. There waiting for him standing beside a boat was Amelia Bones.

"Amelia lovely as always to what do I owe the pleasure of a visit from the Director of the DMLE." Sirius said now that he was a ways from the dementors his wits were returning.

"Shut up Black!" Amelia said grabbing his chains and tugging him forward, "You're coming with me." She roughly dragged him to the boat and pushed him forward. Before stepping in she leaned close and whispers, "I know you're innocent. Harry is safe. Don't say another word, all will be explained soon." After whispering that she pushes him roughly into the boat, "Get your ass in there already." She then climbs in after him. Amelia taps the boat with her wand and it begins moving on its own floating away from the island.

When they were a good distance away Sirius looks up to Amelia from his crouched position, "Thank you Amelia." He says before he promptly fell asleep.

"You fool…you should have come to me I would have helped you catch Pettigrew and this never would have happened." She mumbles as the boat continued on.

Back in the middle of London, Albus Dumbledore, made his way through the Ministry heading to Court Room 7 as the letter had suggested. He found the room an proceeded to head inside when he was stopped by the two Aurors guarding the door, "Pardon me," the old man said, "But I've been told to come to this room."

"We are aware sir," one of them spoke, "but we have been tasked with collecting the wand of every person who enters this room."

"Surely I'm not included in that…I'm the Chief Warlock." Albus said keeping his calm composure.

"Every person who enters this chamber MUST surrender their wand sir." The other spoke up, "No exceptions."

Albus sighed, "Oh very well." He said and drew the Elder wand from his robes before placing it in the wand box one of the Aurors was holding. "There may I enter now?"

"Yes sir," they said in unison as they stepped aside.

Dumbledore entered the room sighing as he looked around. He didn't recognize anyone in the room aside from Amelia who was standing in the center. Albus started to head her way when Amelia walked up and prevented him from going to his seat up in the Wizengamot section, "Not today Albus."

He looked at her confused, "I'm sorry? Wasn't I summoned to be Chief Warlock?"

"No Albus you will be spectating today." Amelia responded, "Minister Bagnold will be taking your place." She gestures to a seat right at the front, "Have a seat." Albus was thoroughly confused but turned to sit down as requested. He sits in the seat Amelia had directed him two and waits.

When it seems like the final people who were supposed to be in attendance arrived the doors to the court room closed. Albus watched as it seem some kind of ward was placed on the door. That's odd. All these court rooms already have anti apparition wards on them what could these ones be, he thought. He sits there and watches as the Wizengamot members all begin to take their seats. Albus grimaced as he watched Bagnold boldly sit his usual seat at the head as Chief Warlock.

"Now," Bagnold said, "Let this session begin." The woman looks to Amelia who nods and draws her wand.

Albus' eyes widened, I thought no one would be allowed a wand today. What is going on here?

Amelia holds her wand above her head and begins to make large slow circular motions with her whole arm. The roof of the room began to shimmer before a trail of silver light began to trickle down the whole perimeter of the room. At first it appeared that nothing was happening, as the shimmering silver trail passed the people in the audience as it made it way to the caster. Albus watched baffled as the people the light passed, who he hadn't recognized before suddenly turned into people he knew.

To the far left side of the court room in the middle seats was Ted Tonks and his wife Andromeda. To their right up at the front was Severus Snape. Albus turned to see behind him was Minerva McGonagall and Remus Lupin sitting side by side. On the far right was Sirius Black, still dressed in his prisoner clothing and still cuffed with two Aurors standing behind him. Finally, Albus notice the people standing in the back were actually reporters from various publications.

When the light returned to her Amelia put her wand away and cleared her throat to settle all the whispering from the very confused audience. When the room quieted she turned to the table where the court recorder sat, but the recorder was not alone. There sitting beside the court report was a goblin, one Albus was very familiar with, Ragnok. "You may begin." She tell the goblin who stands in his chair so all may see him.

Ragnok clears his throat to get everyone's attention as he picks up a small pile of parchments, "Now we will proceed with the reading of the Last Will and Testament of Lord James Fleamont Potter and Lady Lily Jade Potter nee Evans." The goblin said.

Albus eyes widened when he heard this, Oh bloody hell, was the only thing the old man could think.

A/N: He knows he's fucked!! God I'm enjoying writing this of all the FF I've written so far I've never gotten to Dumbledore's punishment this fast but honestly I really just wanted to get him out of the way so I can proceed with the rest of my story.
