POV Weiss
I am still confused about all of this. First, I got kidnapped, then I realize that Winter was not in Mistral anymore, the worst thing is to know that some bandits have more information about my sister than myself, then a big explosion almost throw me away with the cage I was in, there was a human-size mechanical scorpion-tail-like that flew close to me, and now it seems that the kidnapper was Yang's mom, oh I do not forget that RUBY SAID THAT SHE DOES NOT KNOW ME! … Either way, I feel a little more at ease knowing that Yang and Ruby are alright.
But now the problem at hand is another thing. It seems that Yang's mom can take us to Mistral, but she wants to talk with us about something so, we entered her tent. The place was decorated in a way that looked like either an old fashion way or from a foreign country, it's hard to describe. She was sitting on the floor, something that some savages will do, but the way she did it looked like she had some decency then they also provided us some cushions to sit on. In the middle, there is a small table, high enough to be used to eat while sitting on the floor. She offered us some tea in a nice cup. Ruby then started to sit in a very particular way, putting her body over her knees. Raven, Yang's mom, saw her and make a small smirk.
At that moment, I could not take my eyes on Ruby, I could not notice the small changes before. Not only she added some weird face in the hood that now she is using all the time, but she also changed her hairstyle, her dress is a little smaller, but her cape is the same, it really made her looked a little childish, even more than usual.
Yang started the conversation, and make me get back to reality.
- So, what's the truth?
- You know, it's better when is hot. You should learn a little from your little sister.
Ruby was still sited in a strange position, her back was totally straight, her body rested in her legs and she was drinking the tea very carefully, to be honest, if you do not think about all the dirt covering her clothes and face, she really looked like an educated lady. Then she seemed that notice that we were watching her and make a small pout.
- What are you seeing me like that? (Megumin)
- The truth is that truth is hard to come by. The story of victory of one person is the story of defeat for the other. By now, your uncle may have told you and your friends, plenty of stories. (Raven)
- Well, he's never given me a reason to doubt him before. (Yang)
- That does not mean that those reasons are not there. You know, you and your teammates could be the poster children for the Huntsman Academies. Your motives may vary but all enroll to make the world a better place. Adorable. (Raven)
- That is what huntsman and huntresses do. (Yang)
- Not all of them, some people go for the money and fame, and others are just looking to grow stronger. Your uncle Qrow and I did not enter to become "huntsman". We did it in order to kill huntsmen. (Raven)
When she said that, Yang and I just shiver at the idea. We could not believe it. I met their uncle once before the tournament when he was fighting with my sister, but as far as I hear from Ruby and Yang, He is a very respectful Huntsman. But even after we hear all of that Ruby was still sat the same way, it seems that she was enjoying the tea and not paying attention.
- Daddy and Uncle let that part out? Aside from the Grimm. Huntsmen were the only ones that openly stand against us and hunting us down. The tribe needed a counterforce, and I and your uncle were in the perfect age. The entrance was a child play for us. We were good, so good that we got the attention of Beacon's headmaster, professor Ozpin as you know him. Even when we were in a team, we could tell that he was keeping his eyes on us. At first, we tough that he knew but was the whole team that he was interested in.
While she was giving us her story, she started to walk a little in the room. She looked like a teacher giving a very important class to her pupils. Then Ruby making a little noise, something like: "ku ku ku ku".
- What do you mean with that? (Yang)
- Constant attention, extra training missions, turning a blind eye whenever we happen to break the rules. Does it sound familiar? (Raven)
I did not know if she was describing her team or ours.
- What's your point? (Yang)
- How much do you know about professor Ozpin? about his past. (Raven)
- He was a prodigy, one of the youngest headmasters to be appointed to the school. (Weiss)
- That is because he planned. Because the man you know has followers inside every academy in Remnant that are loyal to him and no one else. (Raven)
- That doesn't make any sense, how could he, no… why would somebody even do that? (Yang)
- Because old man Ozpin has great and terrible secrets. Secrets that can spread fear across the world. He entrusts that information to our team, once we knew, there was no turning back. But with every discovery I made, the more horrifying the world became. (Raven)
- Then tell us. What is the big secret? What is that the rest of us don't know? (Yang)
Raven was giving us her back. She stopped for a moment, like trying to take a breath before answering.
- The monsters of Grim have a master named Salem. She can't be stopped, she can't be reason with, she will not rest until humanity crumbles at her feet. (Raven)
- What? (Yang)
That was something that I did not expect. That is way too insane. But that also will explain how so many Grimms were already close to Beacon when the defenses were down. Raven turn back at us. Then Ruby just said.
- May I?
She was pointed to the teapot, and Raven get close and poured her more tea while giving her another smirk of satisfaction. They looked like they already met before. There was something off between the two of them. Yang just lost control for a moment.
- Why should we believe any of this?
- Now you are catching on. So far you have done nothing but accept what others tell you. But you need to question everything. Otherwise, you will end up as blind as Qrow. And your fool of a father.
At that moment, Yang really lost it, she blasted the table and broke it. Meanwhile, Ruby was still sat in the same way with the cup in her hands.
- Don't you dare to talk about my family like that.
The bandit girl that took my Myrtenaster enter and point at Yang with her weapon. I started to tell her to calm down, and Ruby... she was just sipping the tea.
- Listen to your friends Yang, your teammates haven't let you down. (Raven)
- You don't know anything about my teammates! About me! You were never there! You left us!... You… YOU LEFT ME!... why? (Yang)
- I know more than you realize, about you, not because I was told, but because I have been there even if you didn't see me. And is not only about you, or things I have been told, but things that I've seen with my own eyes. I know the Grim have a leader. I know people who can come back from the dead. I know that magic is real. (Raven)
- Isn't that obvious? (Megumin)
- You said that Tai told you about my semblance. But I doubt he told you what Oz did to my brother and me. (Raven)
Raven left the tent. Yang and I were perplexed about all of that, then the bandit girl told us to go and see her. At that moment Ruby stood up, it seems that the tea helps her to gain some energy. When we get out of the tent, but there was no one.
- Yang, are you ok? (Weiss)
- I'll be ok once we are with uncle Qrow. (Yang)
- Is Ok if you are not ok. (Weiss)
- You didn't believe what she said. Right? (Yang)
- I… of course not. Not all of it. It is crazy, we have dust, semblances, but there is no such a thing as magic. (Weiss)
- Pardon me? So how do you explain my awesome explosion magic you just witness a while ago? (Megumin)
- What are you talking about? (Weiss)
Suddenly a raven started to caw. It was flying around the area we were in.
- A raven? (Weiss)
- I've seen that bird before. (Yang)
- Maybe it belongs to your mom? (Weiss)
Then the raven made a bigger circle and started to fly to us. Then suddenly the raven transformed into Yan's mom.
- How did you do that? (Yang)
- Well, I can explain it to you or… (Raven)
Suddenly Raven took out a sword and open a portal.
- You can ask your uncle (Raven)
- You are letting us go? (Yang)
- I am giving you a choice… Stay here with me, and I will answer all your questions and more. We can have a fresh start… Or you can go with Qrow and join the war against Salem that will let you to your doom. And meet the same fate as many others. (Raven)
That last part sounded sorrowful like it already happens to her several times. It really pains me to imagine that I can lose any of my teammates, that is the feeling that I had since the fall of Beacon, so I understood completely.
- But can you really go back to trust someone that's kept so much from you? (Raven)
- All I care about is to find a way to help my sister. (Yang)
To be honest, I did not know what she means by that, but we have our way to Mistral in front of us. So, Yang went back for her motorcycle and we were ready to go.
- Yang, if you side with your uncle I may not be as kind the next time we met. (Raven)
- You weren't kind this time either. (Yang)
Yang replies to her mom and continued walking to the portal. Ruby somehow took a small patch and put it in her left eye. Then Ruby said:
- Farewell my crimson comrade, I know that our path will cross again, until then take care. ReiRei-San (Megumin)
- What did she say? (Raven)
Then we all pass the portal. The sensation was kind of weird, to say the least. And on the other side was Ruby's uncle.
