6. Megumin - Complots

Megumin POV

Since I wake up in this world, the adventures that I share with my new party members seem to be full of drama.

Is it I or does everybody want to have a spotlight in their life? I do feel left out in anything they do. I understand that we just met, but from the beginning, the girl who is supposed to be my half-sister has been doing many meetings. First with her dead mother, then with the real mother who is still alive but does not get along, and then the members of her party. Although, I did find that she is half Crimson Demon, which will answer her change of attitudes: "lone wolf", to the "nobody understands me", to "party girl", and then to "I love a member of my party". The only thing that she needs to work on now is her presentation, and she can use her lack of knowledge of magic and instead talk about her semblance. Her presentation could be: "My name is Yang. Last descendent of the crimson demons. And the future most powerful huntress, the one who has the firepower in her being".

About the other members, well, one is half cat and reminds me Chomusuke, both are black cats, and normally somehow very simple to please, and like Chamuske, she seems to be fascinated with the breast of other females, in this situation, with the breast of "my" half-sister. The other is a white-haired wizard that uses a riper as a wound and is proficient in attacks centered in ice. Then the last is this Jaune guy, who is very… shy. But no matter if they have problems with their parents, a tragic past with their family, a shady background with a cult, or is somebody who has overcome the shadow of his family legacy. Me, Megumin, the greatest Archwizard will lead this party to greatness.

I forgot to mention that there is another Crimson Demon, called ReiRei, she is the mother of "my" half-sister and is helping us. Oh, on a side note, it seems that people here cannot acquire magic or skills by choosing it from your adventure id like a normal person, they either need to be born with it or to steal it from another person by killing them. Place of barbarians if you ask me.

There is no time right now for regrets because our journey was already decided. I need to go back to my own world, but there is a reason for me to come here. The reason is obvious: I was chosen as the right savior of this world, so only after I defeat the great menace of this world, I will be able to go back. It is simple, and I do not blame the great being for choosing me for this task, because: I, AS THE CRIMSON DEMON WHO IS DESTINATED TO BE RECORDER IN THE BOOKS OF HISTORY AS THE BEST ARCHWIZARD, BEHOLDER OF THE GREATEST MAGIC, THE EXPLOSIVE MAGIC, IS WITHOUT NO DAUBT THE BEST CHOICE, no, THE ONLY CHOICE TO SAVE THIS WORLD FROM DOOM. The problem here is that I do not know what should I do. To be honest, after hearing all the stories about this Salem woman, I don't think that I can destroy her with my explosive magic. This gives only one answer: I HAVE TO INCREASE MY EXPLOSIVE MAGIC POWER BEYOND THE POWERS OF THE OLD GODS. Kukuku, it is as simple as that. It is no secret for anyone that they are afraid of magic, and if they are afraid of a man that only power is to turn people into birds, they will be no match to my magic power.

Now, to do it and save this world, I need my party members to back me up. I know that they will be able to help me, they seem like good people, kind of remind me of Kazuma and others. Yang and the others accepted me in their group, even when I am not the person they love, and I cannot fight alongside them, but they were always with me… but I really miss Aqua, Darkness, and Kazuma.

But this is not a time for tears, this is the time for me to start the journey to save this world. Right now, we are traveling in this wagon that can fly, and we are going to a country that has a floating island. And that is something I have to see with my own eyes. They told me is that it floats due to another magical item, which is part of the collection of the old gods of this world. Although it will be close to us we won't take it, as if we do it the floating island may fall. Besides, that will make Salem hunt us. On a side note, the cat girl and "my" half-sister are hand to hand almost all the trip, and once you notice that, you cannot unnoticed it. Is like when you saw a little stain on a wall, and then you can not help but keep looking at the stain. It made me nervous to see them like that. I don't want them to look at me as some kind of pervert, but there is nothing I can use to distract me. That Jaune guy normally talks about everything, but now that I need a distraction to not look bad for this, he's not helping.

Then the pilot of the ship called for me and save me, he wanted to show me the view of the city called "Atlas". It was impressive how that big land was able to float in the air. We were still flying under that island so I could not see the whole place, and the pilot said that, because we need to avoid the contact of the radio of the military, we needed to go for a certain route that the signal was already "hacked" by people inside the place, so he can pass without a problem, but that the opening will last just a few minutes, only enough for us to go through it. Even so, that floating island looked imponent. Unfortunately, the place we needed to go was Mantle city, which was under the floating city. The place looked like a dark place, where a demon or a monster can show up at any moment. It has big buildings and also those screens where you can communicate. The light of those screens was sometimes way too bright. From time to time, a man and a woman in uniform appeared on that screen, and my teammates stopped to see him. It seems that they were the Ironwood guy they talking about, and the woman was Weiss's older sister.

The more we walk, the more cautious we have to be. There were soldiers made of metal patrolling the streets. It's a good thing that my stealth, although not trained, was enough to pass by with no problems. Then suddenly we received the welcoming salute of one of their citizens when they saw that one of our comrades has cat ears. It started when she commented the obvious when she said that the city looks awful, then that man appeared saying that we should go to the tundra if we don't like it, meaning that, because Blake is part animal, she should be with wild animals. And even when I am not from this world, it was easy for me to find out that the man just wants to be awful with one of my new party members. So, I decided to walk in front of him, while he was still saying things like the kingdom was best and that Faunus like her should not be there. Once he said that I was already in front of him; I give him and smile and then kick him between his legs with all my might and with these heavy boots that have metal in the tip. The man just fell to his knees and we all left the place walking.

After walking for a while, we were able to find the place. Although most of the party did not think that the person who can create a living machine to be living in a place that looked worse than the main table after father fix it because he broke it. We all entered the place, and an old man was sitting behind a desk, when we saw him, ReiRei got close to the door and block it so no one could enter.

- Yes, how may I help you?

- Are you Pietro Polendina?

- Who are you?

- We came from very far to can met you. Hopefully, you can help us.

- You do know that I am protected by the Atlas military, right?

- By the coward of Ironwood? Look old man we are not here to hurt anyone.

- Wait, I guess we are doing this the wrong way.

Jaune intervened as the whole situation was turning into a fight. Is it that he could not read the atmosphere?. A few more lines and the clash will end up in a conclusion where he will be realized that he's siding with the wrong person and will aid us. Yes, A line like: "He is not afraid of anyone", then: "He is a mere dictator, who was thirsty of power", then they will talk about the city; he will try to protect him saying that he is doing it in order to protect the citizens, but then the numbers will show up that more people are dying for hunger as they do not have an income, all because the communications were close, making the economy to go down, overpopulation with no place to go and with no money to buy food; after that, he will realize that we are the ones who really fight for justice. But all of that was destroyed the moment Jaune intervene in the conversation to calm down everyone, so the only thing I could do is to punch him in the ribs for doing that.

- Look, we came here because it seems that you Aaah... "made" one of our friends.

- You mean…

- We are here because there is something we want to be built so the problem that happens in Beacon won't repeat.

- We are after the responsible.

- You are Waiss Schnee. And you, the arm, you painted! You must be Team RWBY.

- Wouldn't be MWBY at this point?

The old man started to laugh a little, and Jaune said to me that MWBY was not a color, which I do not know how that made sense in this conversation. Then a little noise was happening outside. Probably the same massage that repeats over and over again by the military pair. But it seems that the rest of the party did not think so and left the place, the only ones that remain inside were me, the old man, and ReRei-san. From the door, we were able to see that there were some Grim inside the city, which help ReiRei-san to sustain her hypothesis that the protection that the Ironwood man was as lame as his name, as she said "So the General that has a big military display outside so no one can enter or escape could not stop that pack of Grim, the same pack of Grim that just a bunch of teenagers are able to defeat with ease? You really think that Ironwood could protect you?". The old mand looked a little angry but could not answer as he knew she was saying the truth. I wanted to join them but I was stopped because I might be able to destroy the whole city and bring chaos to this country.

The fight was almost complete with ease by my party. Then from the sky, a green light appeared and destroyed some other Grims that were going to attack from behind. The one that shooted those lights was a girl with orange hair and green eyes. Then the old man smiled and said, "Darling, why don't you said hello to your friends?" then she runs and grabbed all the team MWBY, except for me because I was close to the door with ReiRei-san. It seems that she hugs them with a lot of feeling and strength, as most of them were coughing. "It is a pleasure to see you again", and after they calm the girl down, she asked for Ruby, but then another noise appeared as it seems that there was another attack of Grim, that is when I said "So, why there are so many militaries patrolling the streets if they could do nothing? I mean, instead of coming with that long and tedious route to enter the city, we could have entered straightforward. With this security, any criminal could enter. It only affects the people who work, and live with the income they received the day by day". Well, maybe I did not say that long speech, and I just said: "That's Atlas security for you", but I guess that it also conveys my idea in a more compact way. And it seems like the god of this world hears me because suddenly my party was captured, ReiRei-san stopped me to go after them, her smiled told me everything, we have a new plan. The old man said that he was surprised that we left the party been taken away. But in reality, is because he does not have the advanced power that We the Crimson Demon possess.

We left the place and walk to another rundown building where the pilot was with his partner. This place was going to be our hideout. ReiRei-san said:

- We already tried to convince the old man your way, now is my way

- It was to be expected that this turn of events will be happening.

- Oh really? So, tell me what we should be doing.

- Kukuku, it is obvious, we need to attack from the inside.

I said everything holding the tip of the hood so my crimson… my silver eyes could shine with the light of the room. And ReiRei-san also moved her head in order to make the same effect with the light in her eyes. Then she took her sword, but before she could open her teleportation technique, I asked her to open a small one so we can jump in at the best moment. She accepted, and we were watching the situation. The party was taken to their school with handcuffs. Then when they meet the Ironwood man and the sister of Weiss, they removed the handcuffs, that it seems that they were sent to another room. The other two guys that were with Jaune back in Mistral entered the room, together with the lame wizard and the crimson traitor. Jaune hugged his party members, and Weiss her sister, then they started to talk about how they want to destroy Salem, which was a little comical to me, I have been here for just a few months and I already know more than most of them. Then they started to talk about their plan:

- Ozpin believed the best way to fight Salem was to do so in secret. But after we have a talk, we were able to get into an agreement. So we can fight this war with... a new approach.

Then in the middle of that room, a table appeared, a blue light showed up what looked like the floating island but in a small version.

- That's Amity Colosseum

- Indeed. When Beacon fell, and everyone on Remnant lost contact with one another, I knew that our current system was outdated.

- Amity was built to bring the nations together. And it will serve that purpose once again.

- Building a tower on top of it will restore communication to all Remnant.

- After that, we will spread the information about Salem.

- But everything will fall apart! Grimm will be everywhere!

- You're right, but Atlas is willing and prepared to assist.

- You could not detect an illegal shipment to Mantle, and you hope to stop Grim?

- We could stop you?

- I bet you don't know how we enter.

- Trying to hide the truth from the world will eventually kill us all.

After that Ironwood pressed a button, and some lights started to show, so ReiRei-san close the portal. It was our time to can make our move. ReiRei-San predicted that Ironwood will ask Jaune and the others to join him, and that will be our key to victory. We will contact Yang at night, and then we will create a plan together. Meanwhile, the pilot will try to give us a list of possible people that will be willing to help us.

At midnight we transport where the party was staying. I entered covering my face, as a precautionary measure, and to made the entrance a little more dramatic, and ReiRei-san stayed behind so I can get back. In the room, the girls were sleeping, but they wake up as soon as the portal got close.

- You finally show up.

- Couldn't you have helped us to escape first?

- It is the correct time to speak, as no one can interrupt us.

- Is way too late, can this wait?

- Do you think that speaking about a secret mission in the open is ok?

- Go to the point. What do you have in mind?

- The old man that creates that automaton, was not going to help us right away, so we need to show him the truth.

- Well, why didn't you tell him?

- Yang, do you think that he will believe us? I am still dealing with the whole situation.

- What we need is to show him is that we are the real answer. You are the ones that right now are on Ozpin and Ironwood side, and we are going to work with the other side.

- Another side?

- There is this "politician" that is running for some sort of "seat" in the "consul". And is open about been against Ironwood. We can have her on our side. And once she is in the "seat", we should be able to take that old man with us.

- How would you make her do that?

- Telling the truth, of course

- You are going to tell her?

- Only the people who are willing to protect their people, are the ones to trust.

- What about Ironwood?

- What that man wants is not to protect people, but to get power and control.

- What do we need to do then?

- For the moment, stay working here. ReiRei-san said that this can help you to train a little and know the men of Ironwood. Just in case we need to fight them directly.

- We do lose against those guys.

- Only because they attacked from behind.

- Salem men would also do that, or even lower tactics.

- Fine!

- Oh, and ReiRei-san also has a tip for Yang. Control your semblance…

Then we arrived at the biggest "house" and outside there were two guys that looked like guards. They try to stop us, and one point a weapon at us, as ReRei-san was using her mask, but they were defeated by only one kick of ReiRei-san. Once we entered, behind a desk was a woman and on her right side was a girl that looked like a sheep.

- Do you think that you will be able to do that and leave alive?

- We wanted to talk, but he was not a talking man.

- Why would we want to talk with a fugitive of justice?

- Because we have the information you may want to know.

- Is that so?

- If you want to play the game of, "I am your messiah" you can do it. I could not care less, but right now both of us have some common enemies.

Several men were behind us and standing near the exits as trying to stop us to leave.

- You may want to know how is that Ironwood is spending all his resources on things that do not reflect in the day by day of the citizens.

- What do you know?

- Now you want my information? Robin

The woman wave her hand and made that the men behind left the room.

- Why should I trust you?

- Because your semblance can help you with that.

- Very Well.

- In exchange, you will need to work with me on some things.

The woman called Robin started to think putting her hand in her chin. And by the looks, the sheep girl next to her was very nervous. Then she just nods and asks us to take a seat, but ReiRei-san shook her head asking me to seat as it seems that I would be the one gives the information. Robin took my hand and started to interrogate me.

- Let's start with something simple. Who are you?

I stand up and took the hand she was putting in my shoulder with one hand and with the other I took Barabaragatsu and open it, and with the move of it, my cape started to wave.

- Kukuku. Prepare yourself with this vital information as I will be recorded in the books of history. Megumin is my name, the best mage of the Crimson Demons. Archimage who controls Explosive Magic the most powerful magic there is.

- Weird. But everything seems to be ok, now sit.

Once I sit, she started to make her questions.

- Why do you want to help us?

- Because we know you will go for the elections, and with that, you will stop the general guy in his attempt to control the world.

- WHAT?!

The Robin woman saw her hand which was with a green light.

- Is true, but what about this nonsense of controlling the world?

- He is going to propagate chaos into all the kingdoms once he reestablishes communications. Then he will use the military to take over so he will look like a hero that is protecting the people from Grim when he was the one that made them attack them with the news in the first place.

The woman let my hand go and started to think by herself. I guess that she has problems believing me. Then she started to scream "There is no way we can stop him!", but then ReiRei-san hit her in the stomach to calm her down.

- We have a plan. Unless you have forgotten, you are running for a seat in the counsel of this country. Well, you just need to win, once you are there you need to take away the asset that will help him to archive his objective. The engineer Pietro Polendina, is helping Ironwood with this project.

The woman robin was still thinking, and the sheep girl was at her side again, helping her to sit again.

A few days later we were with the followers of Robin in a tundra-like place. I was checking the place to see if we could not see any snow sprites close or maybe a winter shogun. Meanwhile, the Robin woman and the sheep girl were standing in front of a small barricade they made, they were waiting to see if someone send something to the coliseum we talked about. Then after a little while, a vehicle arrived and stop in front of her. Three people get out of the vehicle: a man in a white uniform but without sleeves, which looks pretty stupid if you are going to come to this place with cold weather. I mean at least I used the cape to warm me a bit, but he does not have anything. Then after him, the traitor appeared and then the green guy who was part of Jaune's party.

Then Robin started to talk with the guy with no sleeves. She was questioning why they are taking all the cargo to the coliseum, but he just started to lie, saying that it was an annual check-up. The talk escalated pretty quickly as the "no-sleeves" guy did not want to say anything, and Robyn just asked the last time but now to the companions.

- Either of you wants to tell me why Mentle was put out risk for Ironwood little project?

- We are trying to help…

- That is enough Robyn. As a potential counsel, you should focus on the election instead of harassing huntsmen. Now, is time to let us pass.

- I think you misjudge the situation. One way or another, those resources will be sent where they are supposed to be, in Mentle.

- Well, I suggest you do that in the proper channels "IF" you become a consul.

- Now, what is the fun of that?

Then from the back of the vehicle, the orange hair girl gets out, she took several swords that were floating in her back and said:

- Robin Hill. I want to politely ask you to call off the huntresses approaching the rear of the truck.

And in this place, you are the ones who belong in that category.

That was the speech I thought of for a while. It was very good that a breeze started to blow a little, so my cape was waving at the moment of my speech, the bad thing is that my face went cold because of that. And it seems that it did make a great impact as most of the enemies lower the weapons, the only one that was still in his guards was the no-sleeves guy. He may be the kind of person that only follows orders, like most of the followers of the Demon King. This made me wonder if Kazuma and the others already went to attack the Demon king, I remember that the day I was officially added to the party Kazuma said that his ultimate goal was to defeat him. When I was in my thoughts the traitor took his weapon and point at ReiRei-san. Then the no sleeve guy screen "attack". The only two who attacked were himself and the traitor, at that moment before they were close enough to make any damage, ReiRei-san opened a portal, so everybody was able to enter and leave the place. We appeared in a small alley in the city next to Yang. She was there with her arms crossed, and behind her was Jaune, Weiss, and Blake. Then Blake said: "Now will you explain a little more of your plan?".

After that Robin and the sheep girl went with us inside the building that was abandoned, it seems that the place went bankrupts right away the closure of the borders of this country. The first to talk was ReiRei-san:

- I guess that you do not have any doubt about us?

- As far as I could see, you are not working with them. Now Can you tell me more about the plan for controlling the world?

- What? Controlling the world?

- You did not tell your own partners?

- To be honest, I gasp the idea only after I hear it from her. But as incredible as it may sound, after hearing it all, you'll notice that it makes perfect sense.

After ReiRei-san said that everybody was watching me. So, I clear my throat and explain myself.

- Well, the process he will take is simple. But before, I do not know if you want to use your semblance thing?

- Oh, Sure.

- Very well. First, In order to give you context of what is happening, you have to know something that will change your perception of your world. Currently, the monsters called Grim are controlled by a woman called Salem, and she seems to be on a mission of revenge or world control. But to be honest, if world domination was her point, she may have done it already. This woman and her followers are the ones that make the attack in Beacon.

When I explained the current situation to Robin, she was shocked and looked at her hand in disbelief because it was all true.

- She may not control all the Grim at the same time, so many of the Grim in the wilds are just living by their instincts, and attack based on the bad feelings. Or at least that is what ReiRei-san told me. Now, for Ironwood to take over the world what he did is to prepare for an all-out assault of the Grim, as it happened in Beacon. If you ask why he will think that Atlas will be attacked. Well, it is because he will give this information about Salem to all the people on Remnant, and once the military is ready and the communications are reestablished. People around the world will be in chaos and unprepared for the imminent attack of the Grim due to this news. The only place fully prepared for it will be…

- Atlas.

- Exactly.

- So that is why he said that after they gain control. They will go and help the rest of the world? So, he can look like a hero?

- That is ridiculous.

- And still very plausible. It is like if he has been waiting for this very moment.

- No, Winter won't permit that to happen.

- Maybe she doesn't know.

- It is possible that she doesn't know. In the end, he wants that everything will be shown as he was just there as a good person trying to be a hero. I guess, in order for it to happen, he will use somebody else to give the message. Maybe a person he can dispose of later on. So all the blame will be on that person.

After the others started to also give their opinions, Robin let my hand free. It seems that she was thinking about everything, but then she asked me another question and took my hand, again.

- You said that you need something from us. Will that thing will help you with this?

- Yes. This will help to stop the problem of Salem. But the problem with Ironwood, that will be yours.

- Let the girl answer. Tell me, what is what you want and how will it work?

- The Salem woman can't be killed but can be sealed. We know that the automaton was build here, and it has a soul. It means that inside of her, a soul was sealed. So, we need the one who created that automaton so we can seal the soul of Salem into something that can not move or do anything.

- So, you want Petro to work with you on that project? That sounds possible. I am not a scientist, but the plan sounds like it can be done.

- Well, If you are with us, what are we waiting for.

- The election. Or do you already forget about it?

- About that. Were you able to convince them to make it the old way? You know, with papers instead of machines.

- No, unfortunately. But there are no more strong contenders besides Robin.

- You may want to think about that.

The catgirl interrupted us. Blake showed her "scroll" thing. We could see a man with white hair and a white mustache, he was announcing his candidature. And for the reactions, and the little talks between them, it seems that he is Weiss's father. It was a piece of news that no one expected, neither me. But that was basically because I did not know her father, or anyone in her family, besides her sister. It seems that her family tends to do the wrong thing and align with the wrong people. Then somebody asked Weiss if she thinks that his dad would commit fraud to win the elections, and she answered with a "no doubt about it".

So, the next plan was to separate and wait. If everything goes well, Robin will take the council seat, and we will be along her side, and the rest of the team will turn on him, with that and the persuasion of Robin of the other counselors, we should be able to remove Ironwood from his position and change all of his evil plans. But if it does not work, we should be ready for any kind of attack from our enemies. In the meantime, Jaune and the others will also try to convince the members of the Jaune party. It seems that they got fond of the General and with the sore excuse of a wizard.

On the day of the election, ReiRei-san and I were in a small warehouse, where they were supposed to celebrate their victory. Which was kind of stupid, when the election was still going. In the place, there was the orange-haired automaton, and a guy with a uniform similar to the one of the no-sleeves guy, but he did have sleeves and he looked like has a tail like a dog. We were sited in shadows of the top of the place, we were able to see in a screen in front of us how, little by little, the results of the elections were changing in favor of Weiss father, which was completely suspicious. Then a man in a cloak was moving through the people, it was totally suspicious, but the so call "guards" did nothing about it. ReiRei-san alert me, and a little after that the lights were out, and a series of gunshots were shoot. When the lights came back, the orange-haired automaton was standing on stage, and the sheep girl was lying on the ground below it. In the area where most of the people were, another bunch of bodies were on the floor. After the chaos, the news that Robin had lost was not that important to the people who ran in fear.

The so call guards of Ironwood left the place, so we use that opportunity to get down. ReiRei-san checked the sheep girl's and assured her that she was ok, but that she needed medical help for the amount of blood she was losing.
