I have gas in the huge red truck Emmett had gotten for me; I'm convinced it's the largest, most conspicuous vehicle to ever grace the earth. How this is the car that was chosen as my getaway car, I'll never know, but I'm beyond grateful, nonetheless.
I have a bag full of clothes and things to eat and drink.
I have a box of hair dye and a pair of scissors to use if he calls the police to report my disappearance.
But I know he won't.
He'll take it into his own hands, being the narcissist he is.
I have an envelope full of money on the passenger seat I'm too afraid to touch, let alone spend.
I have a racing heart and a throbbing head.
I have a fear inside of me I don't think will ever go away.
But as the ancient red truck and I cross one state line into the next, I watch as the rain slowly dissipates and the clouds pave the way for a weak and tiny stream of sunlight to shine through.
But it's there.
And it's beautiful.
And for some reason, I know it's there to light the way for me.
And she's off! We're moving into the next Phase of her journey, and I'm so glad you're coming with me. Thanks to Fran, Dani, Ariel, and Gemma!
