Sorry guys I've really slowed down my writing I'm working on 15 now and about 1/2 way through that chapter. I hope you enjoy this, this is the last small group outing we'll see.

It was the beginning of August, and the beach trip felt like another lifetime ago. Jack had started coming into Sam's lab more to talk, not just when he was bored or wanted something. He was talking to her about all kinds of things they'd never brought up prior. He asked her favorite flower one day. Another day the discussion was a favorite bug. Sam wasn't sure where it was going, but she loved it. Day after day, Jack would stop by with a new topic at hand, and while Sam was waiting for a result or Jack was signing forms, they would talk. It was easy going, a time for them to relax and just get closer than they had before.

Jack hadn't told Sam that he went to General Hammond a few days after the beach trip and admitted his feelings for her. General Hammond couldn't help but smile as Jack said the words out loud. General Hammond promised to figure out something, but unless this was going to cause problems with SG-1, he wouldn't change anything. Jack assured him everything was fine and that he and Sam had talked, and the big step of not taking a relationship anywhere was that SG-1 was important to both of them. Jack didn't let Sam know the conversation he had with the general. He didn't know if it would be weeks, months, or even years. He wouldn't do anything to break up the team, but he was ready to move on if it meant being with her.

During lunch, Daniel had brought up the fact that recently, an Axe throwing bar opened up in the area. Sam smiled widely, and Teal'c looked intrigued as well. Sam was excited to go try her skills and look more into the place that Daniel was discussing. They decided to go the next weekend they had off whenever that happened to be.

Not that Sam would know, but the sun had set, and she should have left for home hours ago, but instead, Sam was looking at her email as a reminder that the trip she had started organizing so many months ago was now only 30 days away. She had everything booked, the flight, the rental car, the hotel, and some dining reservations. The tickets were being mailed to her, and she couldn't believe she was going with three grown men to Walt Disney World. She laughed out loud, knowing how annoyed Jack O'Neill was, but he also hadn't flat out refused to go. Sam was hoping it wouldn't end in disaster. The trip was the last one she had planned out. It had been over a year since she had started this crazy idea. Although many of it had been for the best, she couldn't' help but wonder how they would be without these little adventures. The trips grounded her back to Earth, reminding her that Jack, Daniel, and Teal'c were friends above all else. Sometimes, so many times while fearing for your life, you forget the smaller picture.

Sam was glad that they have been able to enjoy each other's company for so long. She knew that the ax-throwing bar would be something they all enjoy. She looked at the schedule and baring any freak accident, and they should be able to go the following weekend. Sam couldn't wait but got back to work, knowing there was plenty to get done before their next mission.

Sam, Jack, Daniel, and Teal'c come back through the gate unharmed, but they find that time there is much quicker. So much so, when they radioed in for their 12-hour call, SGC radioed back that it had only been about 6 hours. Everyone felt okay, and there were no other issues, so SG-1 was asked to proceed with the mission. Although it was strange, that was the only issue they had. They had found an abandoned ancient site with a lot of information that needed to be deciphered. They all took pictures and videos and brought back some objects of interest. When they got back from what was supposed to be a 4-day mission, only 2 days had passed on Earth.

Sam was happy that the trip hadn't been the 4 days as planned. The same day they came back, Jacob made an appearance at the SGC. Although it was intel the Tokra acquired, Jacob also had some time for a short social visit with Sam, which wouldn't have happened otherwise. She hadn't seen her dad in 6 months, and she wasn't sure when she would see him again. She wasn't sure what to bring up regarding everything that has happened in those 6 months. Then she realized that her dad had yet to meet Deb and went into lengthy detail about the woman her dad would most likely not get to meet as she wouldn't be back to the SGC for another week. Jacob smiled and listened intently to his daughter.

Jacob was worried for Jack as Sam tells him right after he had left last time, Jack had a major accident. He had heard through the Tokra that had finally healed him that he had some kind of accident, but of course, he hadn't been given any of the details until today. Jacob was glad Jack was doing better. He can't believe his daughter went to the Bluegrass music festival. Sam only mentioned the beach, so Jacob knew something had to have happened but didn't question what Sam had left out.

Sam hadn't realized how long she had been talking to her dad. Although Jack knew Jacob was there, he had become a creature of habit and walked through the lab door.

"Lunchtime, Sam." He stated.

Sam jumped at the use of her first name. Jack was looking at something in his hand, not correcting himself.

"Sam?" Jacob stated.

Jacob's voice caused Jack to instantly pull his head up, looking at the man.

"Yeah, um, I mean you're both Carters, and I figure I don't have to the right to tell you, Jacob, when to eat," Jack claimed.

Sam just stared at Jack as the words fell out of his lips.

"Hmm, in all my time here, I've never heard you call my daughter by her given name." Jacob pointed out.

Jack and Sam both decide to ignore the comments, and Sam starts walking towards the door.

"You coming, dad?" She asks.

Jacob follows behind, kind of confused by the exchange but doesn't say anything.

Jacob feels obligated to call Mark, knowing that it was evening and he would be home. Jacob really hoped to get back to Earth for some needed time with his son, and grandkids but this time, the long-awaited call would just have to do. He regularly sent letters through the gate as often as he could, and the SGC would send return letters back with whatever Tokra happened to be on Earth.

Jack had wandered back to Sam's lab.

"Should we tell him?" Jack asks Sam as if this wasn't complicated.

"Tell dad what, that there might be a chance that I will be dating my commanding officer and the somewhat near future, if and only if something changes to let that happen?"

"Something like that?" Jack smiled.

"NOPE!" Sam stated.

"NOPE? Are you serious? We don't know if it will be another 6 months, and what if we're married by then." Jack asks.

"Married?!" Sam screeches.

"Okay, long-term committed relationship, that's a big change from the commanding officer," Jack explains.

"I know that!" Sam snaps.

"Sorry, Carter, just a thought," Jack asks, slowly walking backward.

"No, I know, I'm sorry. There is a lot of what-ifs. I know dad should know that it's a possibility, but I don't know how to even begin to explain." Sam claims.

Jack nods.

"Would it be okay if I talked to him eased him into the thought, maybe?" Jack asks.

Sam doesn't know how to answer that and is quiet for a few minutes. She closes her eyes and breathes deep.

"If you want to contemplate your mortality be my guest," Sam says.

Jack smiled. "Dad loves me. What could go wrong?"

Sam just looks at him and turns around, trying to keep her mind busy with anything else.

Jack leaves, looking for Jacob.

When Jack finds Jacob, he is in the VIP room, although he is planning on leaving in just a few hours. Jack assumes he went to call Mark with a little bit of privacy.

"Jack, what can I do for you?" Jacob asks.

"Sit down with me?" Jack says, pointing to the table.

"What's this about Jack?" Jacob questions.

Jack just looks at Jacob for a few moments.

"Sam said you might kill me." Jack states.

Jacob closes his eyes.

"What did you to do with her, Jack?" Jacob asks.

"With her?" Jack replies.

"YES! With her, I know you two, too well. So just spit it out." Jacob claims.

"Well, nothing exactly, except this one time, but it doesn't really count, and it was only a kiss in a time loop." Jack rattles on.

Jacob just looks at him…

"We've been, well, the thing is we've admitted to having feelings for each other. This recent April incident that I'm sure Sam had told you all about made me realize I can't do this forever. I've really fallen in love with your daughter." Jack claims.

Jacob can't help but smile, then frown, then smile again.

"Look, if Selmack wasn't here, if I was still a regular guy, I would kick your ass right now, but after everything I've been through, nothing is worth more than happiness. I know you make her happy. I can hear it in her voice when she talks about you. I can see her eyes light up when you talk to her. She is different from you. With that, Jack, I can't condone anything as her commanding officer don't let the rules stand in your way but don't do anything to get her in trouble." Jacob explains.

"That's the last thing I want. General Hammond is aware that I've at least admitted my feelings. There has been a lot of discussions, I think there is a way around all this, but Sam is dead set on not breaking SG-1 up." Jack claims.

Jacob smiled. "You have to know where she is coming from. She's been through a lot, Jack. It seems when everything is going great for her, her world comes crashing down. Her mom died a few days after being told she was going to skip a few grades. Her grandmother died a few days after she was accepted into the academy. She met Jonas, and thought he was wonderful, was going to marry him, and look what he turned into. I had met him, Jack, and he seemed genuine. She gonna be a little gun-shy." Jacob explained.

Jack nodded.

"Whatever happens, Jack O'Neil, I'm holding you responsible for the outcome. Don't mess with my daughter's happiness. Whatever she wants, she deserves it." Jacob warns.

"I know that, sir. I am trying the best I can." Jack stated.

"Well, make damn sure you're trying hard enough because word will come back to me," Jacob stated.

"I know, sir, noted," Jack said.

"Well, I know it's a little early and preemptive, but welcome to the family; I'm glad to have you, son," Jacob claimed.

"Thanks, Dad," Jack said.

Both men smiled, and Jack walked out of the room and started whistling as he made his way back to his office.

Jacob had a few things to tend to before returning to Tokra base. As he finished up, he made sure to find Sam.

"It's time for you to go already?" Sam asks.

"Afraid so, Sammy," Jacob said.

"I'll miss you, Dad," Sam claims to hug her father, not knowing the next time she would see him.

"Jack and I had a talk today; he really cares about you; let him in, let yourself be happy. It will work out." Jacob claims.

Sam sighs but nods her head.

"Trust me, Sam, you deserve it all," Jacob claimed.

Sam looks at her dad and smiles.

"I'll see you soon, kiddo," Jacob exclaims and walks towards the gate room.

Sam ignores Jack the rest of the day, and he doesn't come to see her. Friday, he comes to see her, but they avoid the topic of her father, and both act like Jacob's visit never happened. Saturday comes, and with it is a night at the Axe throwing bar. Sam wonders how good she'll be. She's thrown knives before and other objects for self-defense, but she regularly didn't have any axes to wield. The group got a crash course in ax throwing from one of the staff. They looked around, seeing several people throwing and laughing as they missed or screaming joyfully when someone hit the target.

They talked Teal'c into going first, and he agreed to take a few moments to feel the weight in his hand. Then he quickly threw it and stuck it right in the middle. The man that worked there gave a high whistle, and Sam smiled widely. Jack tried. Next, he didn't get the middle, but it dug in on the outer edge of the circle. Next, Sam tried. She looked at the target and took the longest to feel out the ax before flicking her wrist and causing the ax to dig in close to Teal's spot. The man was impressed by the group, and Daniel felt the pressure to get it in as well. Daniel threw the Axe, and the blade dug in on the top middle of the target.

"Well, I think you guys got it. If you want, you can use the chalkboard to keep score." The man claims.

Jack thanks the gentleman, and they all quickly become competitive; they're not quite sure if it's beginners luck or if, or what, but it takes about another 20 minutes for any of them actually hit the target again. They were all "hitting" it just fine, but for the Axe to go into the wood was something else. Clanging noises of the ax made Sam cringe every time someone missed. Teal'c finally broke their curse, and after that, they only missed every so often. Jack was surprised by how much fun he was having. After their time was up, the group sat down at a table.

A waitress brought over menus, and the group gets drinks and a pizza to share, and some fries. They watch the other people coming in, trying their hand at ax throwing. For the most part, people were having a lot of fun. The group was pointing out others were doing well or doing quite poorly as they ate their pizza. The group was drinking and talking when they see the man who had helped them out go table to table several people telling him "no," and then he approached their table.

"Hey guys, I don't know if you know, but not only do we do Axe throwing, but we have paint splattering and destruction rooms. One of our last groups of the night was canceled due to an emergency. You usually get to pick what's all in there, and it's priced based on that, but we're willing to give you half off if you want to take it. So we don't have to swap it before the last group scheduled," The man claims.

Sam smirks; they weren't completely drunk, but she had a good buzz, and hitting something might be fun. Jack looks around at the group silently before nodding.

The group is shown to the back and goes down a long hallway where they open a large steel door. Inside the room is concrete, and the walls are of various materials. There is a large industrial table. The guy walks them up to show them the various things they can use, such as sledgehammers, crowbars, and metal pipes. There were also whips, chains, and other various smaller objects. The objects in the room included plates, vases, large cinder blocks, an old TV, a few older pieces of furniture. The group smiled at the assortment, and after the rules were explained, Sam took the opportunity to throw a plate, hitting the wall. Jack smiled and threw won as well. They took turns until they ran out. Teal'c grabbed a sledgehammer and hit an older dresser hitting it in just the right spot, that it flattened it, leaving the group satisfied. Jack took a turn swinging at a cheap old dining room table, breaking it in half. Daniel smashed the old television screen, and the group went on thoroughly destroying objects until a red light flashed, indicating their time was up. The guy came in and laughed. "Why do I have a feeling this isn't the first time the lot of you has done something like this?" The man asks.

"Us?" Daniel claims.

"Never," Jack said, patting the man on the back and handing over the crowbar he had in his hands.

Sam snickers; the group is fully sober and takes off, heading home enjoying the break they had.
