These next 2 chapters are short. I hope you enjoy and review. Thanks.
With morning coming quickly, Sam feels weary but knows a cup of coffee will perk her up. The brightness coming through the curtains has her awake, but Jack had a tight hold of her. She tried to wiggle out of his grasp, and although she never felt fearful in his arms, she was a little alarmed by how tight she was against him, and the man's usual wakefulness at the slightest turn was nowhere to be found. Sam turned and found a from on his face, and she could tell she was dreaming.
"Jack, wake up." She said, not wanting to touch him in case he had a bad reaction.
"Sam?!" He called out and seemed even more in pain.
"I need you to wake up. You're fine, and you're safe." She claims.
"Sam," He yells a little louder.
"Open your eyes." Sam orders.
Jack fluttered his eyes open and was staring back at slightly concerned Sam.
He blinked a few times, a flashback of the dream coming to light.
"Sorry, didn't mean to scare you," Jack said and quickly untangled himself from her. Scrubbing his face.
"You didn't. Are you okay?" Sam asks.
"Yeah, fine," Jack says.
"You sure?" Sam sitting up and rubbing his shoulders.
"Yeah. Hey, where is it we're going today?" Jack asks.
"Well, we're attempting EPCOT again hopefully, this time, we can get through the world showcase," Sam explains.
Jack shrugs his shoulders and heads to the bathroom.
Sam smiles, remembering that they only have a few more days. That they were officially at the halfway mark, and it felt like no time had passed at all. She stretched and waited for Jack to finish before taking her turn in the bathroom and gathering in the living room, Deb was awake, but both Teal'c and Daniel were surprisingly still asleep.
Deb already had a pot of coffee going.
"So Daniel tells me we're going around the world today," Deb says sarcastically.
"Well, I mean you don't have to," Jack claims. You and Danny can have a nice day in."
"Daniel, miss an opportunity to explain different world cultures to his friends, yeah like shacking up here has a chance." Deb laughed.
Sam was a little surprised but Deb's bluntness but laughed; Jack only groaned, realizing whatever Pavilion he went to was going to be an academic lecture from one Dr. Daniel Jackson. Sam laughed again, and Teal'c looked at Jack, wondering why he was always so disgruntled about Daniel doing what Daniel does best.
When they got to Epcot, they walked past the long line for Mission Space, and Jack yells out, "It's nothing like the real thing."
Sam shoots him a glare but says nothing as Deb snickers, and they move on, past the front, and enter the World Showcase. Their first stop was Mexico, and Daniel starts talking about the Mayan civilization and the trinkets and if they were commercialized or authentic; Daniel was surprised to see that most things were coming out of Mexico.
They then moved on to Norway, where neither Deb nor Daniel had many studies, but Daniel instantly had a story when they pointed out the giant gnome. Teal'c was asking several questions as he picked up multiple items; when Daniel and Deb started remembering their world history teaching, the Cast Members in the store seemed impressed and gave Daniel and Deb applause after explaining an object that even most of the cast members weren't sure of.
China was the next stop, and they decided to take in the film sitting in refreshing air conditioning as the sweltering heat left them damp with sweat as the sun hit high in the sky. They had lunch, and Daniel laughed at the conversation 2 young ladies at the back counter; they didn't think Daniel looked the type to know their Mandarin dialect. They were talking about a child in the store tearing up the place. Another cast member had gently told the child's parents to watch him, but here he was grabbing plush and throwing them on the floor, the parents not even picking them back up. They left, leaving a trail of objects behind them. They called the parents ignorant slobs, and that is when Daniel laughed, and in perfect Mandarin, replied, "Sorry, I'm sure that happens a lot." The girls blushed for half a second before holding a conversation with him.
Jack rolled his eyes, Sam and Deb smiled. Deb didn't know Mandarin herself, one language she just never picked up on. She never had a lot of dealings in Asia, but she maybe she should learn a few key phrases, never knowing where the job would take her next.
Germany comes, and the whole group is talking in German except Teal'c, and Daniel frowned when he realized what they had been doing. Daniel had no idea Jack could speak German so fluent and was sure he had done some name-calling in German directed at Jack in the past. Jack was rusty, but he understood and spoke it with a little hesitancy. Daniel knew that Sam had mastered the language and Deb as well. Daniel once again when on a long history lesson of Germany with Teal'c.
Italy was next, and Sam was speaking perfect Italian, something that Jack was unaware that Sam could do. He knew a few phrases and could read out the menu boards, knowing most of the words. It was truly a beautiful language, and he was wondering when he could get Sam to speak to him so eloquently again. They stopped and watched the street performers, they had done so at every pavilion, but In Italy, the crowd wasn't as big. For some reason, people walked past as if there was nothing there.
When they made it to The American Adventure, they all took a break and sat. The hours had flown by, and Sam wasn't sure if they were going to make it to all the Pavillions with several more Pavilions to go. They filled up listened to a high school jazz band for a while before going to the next stop Japan. Sam had always loved Japanese and was memorized by the pavilion and shop. The ladies in the store had asked Sam and Deb if they wanted to try on Kimonos Deb had to talk Sam into it, but when they asked what color and she said blue. The lady grabbed a light blue Tomoeri (robe) and royal blue Obi (Sash) and pulled it tight around her. Sam loved it, and Jack couldn't help but notice how the blue brought out her eyes.
Deb picked a sage green color Tomoeri, and they matched with a red obi.
Daniel told her she looked stunning in Japanese, and the girls giggled as he continued in Japanese for a good 2-3 minutes about how wonderful she was until Daniel realized that Deb didn't understand 90% of what he said. Daniel blushed, and English repeated himself. Deb smiled and hugged him tightly.
After they were done in the Japan Pavilion, they moved on to Morocco, eating dinner there, watching a belly dancer perform, and finding all the hidden alcoves, fountains, and mosaics in the area. Deb gave Teal'c the lesson this time, although Daniel knew Morocco; Deb had spent a significant amount of time there at one point and even taught Daniel a thing or two.
When they went to France, it was time for dessert, grabbing several pastries from one of the shops and watching as mimes did a routine outside. They decided to go to the film and cool down again before heading to their last 2 Pavilions. The United Kingdom and Canada. It was getting dark when they finally had gone around the full circle, and Sam knew they could have doubled their time at each stop and still not even begin to see it all. People were gathering by the water. Sam knew that here too, there was a fireworks display and some kind of display around the water. After a quick poll, the group decided to stay and watch as the presentation began.
When they were finally done for the day, Sam was reeling with the information she took in from both Daniel and Deb, she knew it was more of a lesson for Teal'c, but she did learn a lot and loved going through each of the Pavilions. Tomorrow they had a break from the theme parks, leaving a free day to do whatever they wanted, although none of them had discussed what they would do. Sam wasn't sure she could just stay in the hotel room all day, even though the air conditioning was a major perk.
Sam wasn't much of a shopper, nor was Deb, so they all decided to go to a movie then go to Icon park after a while.
Jack and Daniel argued over the movies, but Teal'c finally settled it, they went to see the most recent Disney film. Sam laughed when Daniel and Jack were obviously disappointed. They got into the theater and found seats in the mid-back area of the theater.
Jack pushed the armrest up, allowing Sam and Jack to lean into each other. Sam couldn't help but remember her first date at the movies. She was 15 with a neighbor boy Tim who had just turned 17. Her dad would be furious if he knew what they were doing, but she told him she saw a movie with her friend Wendy. Tim was kind and smart when around Sam, but he was on the basketball team and really downplayed how smart he was, which upset Sam the most, but when it was just the two of, them they could talk about school and science, and he was genuinely into it. Tim put his arms around her, pulled her close, and kissed her lips as they sat in the very last row with all the other kids her age doing the same. At the time, Sam had been so entranced by him she couldn't even remember what movie they had been watching. Sam can't remember going to see a movie with anyone else on a date. Now, she was with Jack, and although they were in a group setting, it made her heart beat fast, wondering if he wanted to do anything. She shook her head, they were far from teenagers, and Colonel Jack O'Neill wouldn't stoop to making out in the darkened theater at a made-for children's movie, would he?
Sam shook her thoughts as she leaned into him and kept her eyes on the screen, knowing if she looked over all the thoughts from more years than she wanted to admit, it would make her be the one kissing him.
When the movie ended, and they walked out, she noticed a woman eyeing Jack O'Neill and quickly grabbed his hand and pulled him close, she wasn't sure what came over her, but Jack laughed and pulled her close until they got back to the parking lot heading of to Icon Park.
When the night came to a close, and everyone went to bed for the night, Jack looked at Sam.
"What was up after the movie? You think that lady was going to whisk me off or something?" Jack asks.
Sam blushes a deep red.
"Of course not, I just, I didn't like the way she looked at you," Sam claimed.
"Sam women do tend to look at men," Jack claims.
"I know that; I just don't have to like it," Sam claims.
"Believe me, I know the feeling," Jack claims.
Sam looks at him like he's crazy.
"Sam, every man and a lot of women give you the once over every day," Jack claims.
"They do not!" Sam yelled.
"Please, look at that," Jack said, spinning her around to the mirror.
"You, Samantha Carter, are gorgeous," Jack claimed.
Sam giggled.
"I'm not joking, Sam; you're beautiful," Jack claimed. Falling in behind her putting his hands around her waist.
"Thanks, you're pretty handsome yourself," Sam claimed to turn around and kiss him.
Jack and Sam can't help but smile, glad they finally have the opportunity. Sam and Jack climb in bed Jack holding Sam close as they fall asleep.
Daniel wakes up to Deb tossing and turning, and he turns on the lamp to see she's still asleep. Teal'c is still asleep in the bed next to them.
"Deb?" Daniel asks.
Her breathing changed, and she looked at him.
"Sorry weird dream, nothing bad, just weird go back to sleep," Deb claims.
Daniel smiles, turning off the light and getting comfortable. Instead of lulling back to sleep, Daniel finds himself wondering how he got so lucky. Deb was really his dream girl. When they first met, he was too passionate about his work, not that he still wasn't, but Daniel strictly viewed Deb as a colleague. Of course, they talked and knew about their past, but nothing more than what a good friend would know. If Daniel had to be honest, a relationship was never on his mind back then, just trying to prove his parent's theories and stories right.
Then Daniel wondered if he deserved to be happy, if he deserved to be there at all. All of Abydos was now gone, his life there like a distant memory, a dream he had, but his feeling of Sha're still raw after all the years that had passed. He had found peace a few years ago, but that didn't mean it didn't hurt when something reminded him of that time with his wife, the life he had chosen for himself. There were days he wondered where he would be what could have been. He felt bad feeling this way. Having Deb in his arms was something he couldn't have imagined for himself until it happened. He felt guilty sometimes trying to be happy. He felt guilty when a day would pass and he didn't think about Abydos. Daniel was conflicted about his feelings. He knew he loved Deb, which doesn't mean he didn't love Sha're any less. Sometimes he would wake up thinking Deb Sha're for a moment before everything came flooding back. It was hard to lose someone he loved, and he missed her dearly.
Daniel never told Deb of the times for a heartbeat. He thought she was Sha're. He knew Deb would understand, though, and she always seemed to help him with whatever he was going through. Since working for the SGC, they were always on the same page, and although Daniel never said the words out loud, he knew he loved Deb just as much as Sha're. He didn't think he would feel the same again.
Teal'c re-positioned, shaking Daniel out of his thoughts, and pulled Deb closer, kissing her hair and falling asleep.
