You all crack me up. Check out my author's note at the bottom for my thoughts on your thoughts :)
My team makes this happen. Endless love!
The pounding continues, not as ferocious as I had originally thought in those first few minutes of waking. However, it still pierces the small interior space of the cabin and most likely any wildlife in the perimeter of the outside.
I'm shaking as I lean against the wall of my room, tiny footsteps leading me closer to the offensive sound. I'm silent as I peer around the wall so I can see the door, suddenly aware of the heat from the afternoon. It's stuffy in here, since I had been up all night with worry and had fallen asleep at daylight, and I swipe at the thin layer of sweat accumulating on my forehead. My skin is clammy, my breath coming in uneven spurts as I take another look towards the front door.
Just when I'm convinced my short-lived freedom is up, I see a touch of auburn through the window as he tries to peer inside.
Edward.
Both a sigh of relief and a flash of annoyance occur simultaneously, and with a huff, I walk towards the invasive pounding, the sound of my feet against the floor just as loud as Edward's fists on my door.
"Have you ever heard of knocking?" I ask him as I whip open the door. He has the audacity to look confused.
"That wasn't what I was doing?" He asks, pointing to the door in reference.
"No, you were not." I correct him but sigh when my brain processes I'm in no immediate danger. I think of Emmett's words last night on the phone regarding Edward and open the door a little wider. "Come in."
Edward nods his thanks and steps inside the cabin, his sheer size making the room and furniture suddenly seem smaller just by his presence alone. He speaks at the sound of the door shutting behind us.
"I didn't mean to scare you," he says apologetically, running a hand through his hair in embarrassment. He smiles sheepishly. "Sorry."
I shake my head at his apology. "It's fine. I was just sleeping."
At that moment, we're both suddenly aware of the black tank top and pajama shorts I'm wearing, admittedly showing a lot more skin than I had yesterday.
He clears his throat and shakes his head at the same time. "My buddy got in touch with me. He ordered the part for the truck and said it would probably be here early next week."
"Next week?" I groan. I remind myself it's not his fault, as he's just the messenger. "Thanks, Edward."
"You gonna be okay until then?"
I nod. "Yeah, I'll be fine."
I should be fine. I have almost everything I need.
Nodding, I watch Edward take a slow look around the cabin, as if confirming for himself I do, in fact, have everything I would need. "If not, just -" He freezes and nods over towards the coffee table in the living room.
"What the fuck is that?"
I groan out loud.
This fucking gun will kill me itself before I even put it to use.
Bella and this gun, amiright? LOL
Some of your reviews are so ACCURATE, I swear I have my own Redactward monitoring my computer. If you don't know what that means, head on over to DaniDarling's drabble, Operation: Redacted and you'll know what I'm talking about!
Also, if you haven't checked out the Song to Story Contest, you absolutely should! Voting starts tomorrow!
I've spent the last few days writing the ending chapters to my other WIP, The Muse in the Shadows. I've been writing these characters and their story just short of a year (I started planning in August 2020) and I'll need your help to get me through it! If you haven't read it yet, head on over to my author page and start your journey with Mary, Masen, Bella, and Edward. And then come find me and hold me while I cry my goodbyes to them!
Thank you all. Your thoughts on Found Missing make me happy each day. And, I can tell you this much, I'm loving this Edward something fierce.
See you tomorrow!
