Sideburn was a rookie racing bot and openly enjoyed it deeply. He was super fast and drove around quickly. He was one of the three racers who were mighty impressive. The first was Windblown the champ and was going to retired soon. Then there was Roughroad a no good dirty playing racer. Right now they were in the final race for the season and it was amazing.
The bots were zooming around in Vehicle mode and going super fast. "This rocks," Sideburn said. Sideburn headed into the pits and there was no crew chief.
"You know the boy's crew chief quit on him," one of sports men who were giving comments said.
"Well they say he's a bit hard to work with," said another.
Sideburn was going around quickly when suddenly he blew a couple of tires and managed tot cross in a photo finish with Windblown and Roughroad.
"Oi what hard race," Sideburn said.
"You are the most impossible bot we ever met so we quit," the pit crew said.
"What I didn't do anything, huh, why does everyone keep quitting on me," Sideburn said.
Then Windblown came up. "Hello Sideburn that was some fine racing and you are very talented," Windblown said.
"Thanks but that is the second pit crew and the third crew chief to quit on me, everyone keeps quitting on me," Sideburn said. "They say I am impossible just because I tend to make myself look stupid sometimes," he said.
"I can understand that," Windblown said.
"I try and I try but no one seems to want to help me race," Sideburn said.
"From what I see kid you try too hard," Windblown said.
"Huh?" Sideburn said.
"So you need to find a team who believes in you and you believe that they can help you because they will do their job and know that they can help you," Windblown said.
"Thanks," Sideburn said.
"Attention everyone for the first time ever in Earth tech cup history we have a three way tie," the announcer said. "We will hold a race in Las Vegas to break the tie." he said.
Sideburn sighed and then was about to head to his trailer and saw it was in front of his sponsors tent and went inside. "Hello everyone The Dreams for Differently- ables ran a good race today so hopefully we can make more bots and humans who are differently able dreams' come true," Sideburn said.
Sideburn went into his trailer and was busying himself. He was really in a deep problem with his crew quit on him. His agent called to let him know he has some tickets for his friends and Sideburn didn't have many friends and sighed.
Sideburn's driver was starting to slow down. "You alright Nightdrive?" Sideburn asked.
"I am just trying to get there on time kid, I have to stay up to take you to Las Vegas or I will be fired," Nightdrive said.
"If it makes you feel better I will try to stay up with you," Sideburn said. Then a bit later Sideburn dozed off and the trailer opened and he slide out and woke up and saw Nightdrive was long gone. "Ah Darn cyber-it now I have to find him." he said. He started to look around and drove down route 66 and saw he was starting panic because he couldn't find Nightdrive and was making a mess.
"Not in my town you don't," the officer bot said. Then Sideburn got himself stuck.
"Ugh Sweet candy corn," Sideburn said.
"Kid you are in a heap of trouble," the officer bot said.
"I figured," Sideburn said looking at the mess he caused. "I am sorry I didn't mean it I just got lost and turned around I so sorry," he said he was really upset and crying.
The officer could tell it wasn't on purpose.
The next day he was in the court room. "You scratch my paint job!" One of the bots complained.
"Sorry," Sideburn said.
"You broke three of my shop's windows," said another bot. There were even some humans there.
"Sorry," Sideburn said again.
Then another bot came in and he didn't look happy and then he saw Sideburn. "I don't believe it get him out of here and out of our town case dismissed," the bot said.
"Huh?" Sideburn said. "But I made such a mess of your town it's only right for me to fix all of it before I leave," he said.
"Sorry I am late your honor," a female car said she was a red car. She came up and saw Sideburn.
"I hate to tell you this he's letting me go after all the damage I caused," Sideburn said.
"He's letting you go?" she asked him.
"Yes I am willing to fix everything," Sideburn said.
"You heard him Crossway this fella wants to fix all he broke and it could be good thing for the town," she said.
"Crimsonspeed he's a race bot last thing this town needs," Crossway said.
"But your honor, I am sorry if I am coming across rude, but I was taught from an early age to take responsibility for my mistakes, my parents would be rolling around in their graves if they found out I wasn't going to fix this mess," Sideburn said. "Plus my police officer brother would never let me hear the end of it." he added.
"You have a brother who is an officer?" the cop bot asked.
"Yes," Sideburn said.
"So what should we allow him to do everyone?" Crimsonspeed asked.
"Fix all his mess!" the bots and humans said.
"Because we are a town worth fixing," Crimsonspeed said.
Sideburn started to fix up all he broke. He replanted Upsmoke's plants. Then repaired the damaged down to the statue. It was a tiring day.
The couple of days Sideburn got to know the people and bots of the town. He was making friends with them. "Would you like a new paint job?" asked Airbrush.
"No thanks I am happy with my old one," Sideburn said.
"How about new tires?" asked the bot name Lugwrench.
"I'm good," Sideburn said.
"How about some of my home made organic fuel?" Steadybreeze asked the female resident hippie.
"That freak juice?" Roadmine asked.
"Pass," Sideburn said.
A bit later Sideburn saw that Crossway was a famous racing bot who left after the wreck ended his career. He wasn't happy having Sideburn there in the town he called home.
Sideburn continued to work and finished it all up four days later. "Hey everything is all fixed, he must of finished when we were all sleeping," Towser said.
"He must've left," he added.
"We don't want him to miss that big race of his," Cufflaw said.
Upsmoke went off crying.
"What is with Upsmoke?" Sideburn asked.
"He's upset that you left for the race," Towser said and saw Sideburn was there. "I knew you wouldn't leave without saying good bye," he said.
Sideburn helped every human and bot in town. Soon was whisked away by the earth tech cup people and left.
Crossway called them and Crimsonspeed admonished him for it and all the bots and humans went home. Poor Crossway saw how wrong he was and Sideburn was now in a big race to break the tie.
Sideburn was having trouble during the race. "Are you alright kid?" Nightdrive asked.
"I don't know Nightdrive," Sideburn said.
"I didn't come all this way to see you quit," Crossway said.
"Crossway, and guys your here I can't believe it," Sideburn said.
"I knew you need a crew and crew chief I didn't know it was this bad," Crossway said.
Sideburn went in. "Hey guys," Sideburn said.
"If you can manage like you did fixing all the damage you did to the town you can win this race with your optics shut now go," Crossway said.
Sideburn was doing well and then Roughroad gave him a flat. "Crossway I'm flat," Sideburn said.
"Can you make it to the pits?" Crossway asked.
"I think so," Sideburn said.
"We got a yellow don't tear yourself up kid," Crossway said.
Sideburn came in and the pit bot named Pitmark gave the fastest pit stop ever. He was pretty proud of himself.
Sideburn was doing well in the race and managed to pull one of Crossway's tricks. The Roughroad sent Windblown into a crash. Sideburn noticed and stopped to forfeit victory to help. He came up to him. "What are you doing kid?" Windblown asked.
"I think the champ should finish he last race," Sideburn said.
"You just gave up the earth tech cup you know that?" Windblown asked.
"You know an old racing bot told me it's just a hollow win." Sideburn said.
Everyone cheered when Sideburn finished by helping Windblown. Things were looking up. Sideburn chose to move to Sparkplug lake and was happy to be there. Humans and bot started to visit the town again. It was wonderful.
Sideburn was starting to learn from Crossway about racing.
