Soon, the movie was over. "Well, time for bed.", I said to my kids with a nod. Alex sighed, "Aw, mom! Couldn't we stay up a bit longer?".
Ashley nodded, "Yeah, we're 14!". I raised a eyebrow, "Tomorrow's Friday. A school day for both of you.".
Chris patted my shoulder in comfort, "Tell you what, Ang, I hear that kids their age is bound to be jittery through the night unless they have some warm milk or a book to read for 15 minutes before actually falling asleep.". Alex nodded, "Yeah, we can read a book in bed, and be asleep in no time!".
Ashley pleaded, blinking with big eyes, "Please, mom, with sprinkles on top?". I shook my head in amusement alongside a bit of resigned acceptance, "Alright, but after 15 minutes of reading your book, go straight to sleep, hear?".
Ashley and Alex nod their heads, smiling broadly. I swear that the blue eyes gives them confidence. I smile softly as I glance at them momentarily, proud that they are growing up so well. Ashley's hair used to be finely blonde before changing color to dark brown within puberty which is my father's hair color, fortunately, through Dad has light brown eyes. Alex has my dark brown hair, through he has it short while I have it long. Thank god that they got my bright blue eyes otherwise they'd have mother's cold blue eyes or that bastard's gray eyes.
The twins set off to get settled into their pajamas and do their bathroom routine while I walked Chris to the door. "You sure you don't want to sleep here tonight, Chris? You're lonely in that apartment.", I asked in concern. Chris smiled reassuringly, "I will be fine, Angela. And besides, I have a early work shift anyway. The boss was friendly enough to give me the weekend off, but you know I need to grab the weekly payment on Fridays.".
I nod lightly, "Alright, Chris. Be safe.". Chris hugged me warmly, and gave me a fist bump, "BFFs?". I laughed softly, "BFFs.", thumping my fist on his fist before he headed out to his car. I then went to the bathroom to get changed into my pajamas. I then started to walk to the twins' bedroom.
I smiled lightly as I saw them half-laying against their pillows, books in their hands. Ashley's half of the bedroom is purple with dashes of blue and red here and there, posters of movies she's a fan about, along with bookshelves of science fiction, and of course, glow in the dark stars on the ceiling above hers and Alex. Star-watching is something the twins have in common next to loving Disney and Pixar. And Alex's half of the bedroom is dark blue with dashes of white and green here and there, covered with trophies of basketball games Alex won, along with a signed basketball from his favorite basketball team ever, the Orlando Magic, and bookshelves of western fiction.
I leaned in, kissed Ashley's forehead, "Good night, my movie star. Sleep well.". Ashley smiled, "Okay, mom.", before I turned my attention on Alex, kissing him on the temple, "Good night, my best player. Sleep tight.", and Alex grinned, "Totally, mom.". I then walked off to the door, calling out to them, "Love you, rascals!".
At the same time, my twins call out, "Love you too, mom!", and I shut off the main switch, knowing that they got five minutes left with their lamps on and books in their hands, closing the door almost all the way.
I walk to my room, and then I sat on my bed. I then turned to look at the stars, and then I put my hands together, and I closed my eyes. I took a deep breath, and spoke reverently, "By the Evening Star, the first star I see tonight, I wish to see Hopper in my dreams, and be the one to convince him to change his ways, see who he really is on the inside just like how I have told my twins tonight, and I wish for them to be safe and happy wherever this life takes them.".
I then took a deep breath, "I also wish to find the one who will be by my side throughout the rest of my life...and for the twins to have a father figure in their life." Then I shut the window, and placed the curtains over the window.
Unbeknownst to Angela, her twins or even Chris, the stars seemed to twinkle much more brighter than usual, and then something happened as the wind shifted outside some minutes later. Out of thin air, a white glowing ball appeared, and seemed to look around while floating above the street, and then darted over in a flash to the Walker House, entering harmlessly through the door like a spirit or ghost, and sped up over the stairs, heading to the twins' bedroom first. It heard soft, deep breathing from the kids, clearly asleep as it came into the bedroom, and went over to Alex first, floating above him. A strand of glowing came out of the ball like a arm, and touched Alex on the head, making the boy glow white, and the ball seemed to nod just before Alex vanished right before the ball, sent to a incredible world soundlessly.
The glowing ball then turned its attention upon Ashley, and did the arm touch again, and nearly startled back when Ashley turned over slightly, seeming to exhale a sigh of relief before instantly making the girl glow white, and a moment later, vanished once more, joining her twin brother in the unknown world.
The glowing ball then left the bedroom, heading to Angela's bedroom, going through the door soundlessly, and darted to float above Angela, touched her, pausing momentarily as Angela sighed softly, "Josh...", before falling silent. The ball seemed to smile as it then made Angela glow white once again, vanishing her to be together with her twins as it should be.
After a last check of looking around, the white glowing ball then left the house, darting off very, very fast to Chris' apartment, proceeding to do the same with Chris as he is practically family to Angela and the twins.
I then tried to open my eyes, and I felt myself getting dizzy. "Ughh!", I groaned in pain as I rubbed my head. "Who's there?", called out a scared voice. "Momma, where are you?!", the voice screamed out in confusion, and I recognized it as Ashley's voice, and I got up quickly, gasping in worry, "Ashley, Ashley, I'm coming! Hold on, sweetheart!".
I tried to see where they were... "Mom!", Alex shouted. "Alex..Ashley...I'm coming!", I shouted.
I ran as fast as I could, not seeing the large root in front of me as I tripped, and fell down a slight dusty hill with a thump. I groaned lightly, "What is going on here?!", before I actually looked up, and froze in shock and confusion as I saw grass, giant sprouts of grass, and I blinked softly, "Am I shrunk?".
"Momma, is that you?", I hear Alex's voice ask in surprise, and I look over to locate him. I was confused when I saw two grasshoppers before me, standing and looking like Hopper in a sorta way except that they are shorter...I look at them closer, and I widened my eyes as I saw bright blue eyes staring back at me, and I breathed shakily, "Alex, Ashley?".
"Mom, is that you?", Alex asked. "Why do you look like a grasshopper?", Ashley asked.
I blinked in surprise, "What?", looking down at myself, gasping in shock when I saw those tall legs, the tough skin, the exoskeleton, the spikes on the arms, looking back to see a cape covering the set of wings, and I reached up to touch the antennae. I then looked back at my children, "You're grasshoppers too. What is going on?".
"We don't know...I remember going to bed, and then we woke up here.", Ashley said, feeling scared. "What's going on, Mom?" Alex said as he looked scared. I hugged my children as I tried to comfort them.
I admit it was a bit strange with my new body while hugging, but I didn't care as my twins is desperate for my touch. I sighed heavily, "I don't know what happened, sweethearts, but we're all together now. It's okay.". I then hear a scream of surprise in the distance, a voice proclaiming, "Come on, wings! Geez, Francis made this look easy!".
I blinked softly as I recognized that voice, and apparently, my twins did too. Ashley called out, "Uncle Chris?!". "If he is here...Let's go search for him...Stay close to me, you two.", I said sharply.
The twins stayed close to me. "Chris, where are you!?", I shouted. Chris called out, "Angela?! Where are ya? Give me a landmark!".
"Mom...let's climb up that flower!", Ashley said as she pointed at the flower. "Great idea, sweetie.", I said in approval as we all started to climb the flower.
"Be careful.", I warned sternly. Alex called out, "Uncle Chris, we're on a flower!". Chris called back, "Are you small too?!".
Ashley shouted, "Yes!", and I called out, "Hurry!". Chris called back, "Hold on! Come on, wings, flap! Yeah! I'm coming, family!", and I scanned the sky as it sounds like he's flying, and Alex nudged me, gesturing to a speck in the distance that's gaining shape every second.
I called out, "Chris!", and Chris called out, "I see you! Coming in for a landing!", and I then stared in amazement as a ladybug landed before us, orange wings with thirteen black spots, and blue eyes.
"Chris? You're a ladybug?", I asked in amazement, and Chris laughed lightly, "Yep! Those wings are handy! Dang, you sure pretty for a grasshopper, and the twins are cute, not adorable-cute, but pretty-cute!".
Alex and Ashley giggled. "Ok..so now what do we do, Mom?", Alex asked. I frowned lightly as I looked around, scanning the surroundings, and I blinked in surprise, "I can't tell it from here, but I swear, right there, it looks like the tree on Ant Island.".
Chris looked in my direction, and I then felt a breeze as he flapped his wings, freeing up his cape of orange, and moved upwards. I heard a laugh, "Actually, it's Ant Island! After all, no other island like that would have a dry riverbed gorge!", landing back on the flower.
Ashley gasped softly, "You mean we're in the movie?". Alex joined in, "We just watched it last night! How did we get here?!".
I then started to think back to last night...I remember praying to the stars before I went to sleep. "I think that might be...my fault.", I said nervously. Ashley asked curiously, "What do you mean by that, Mom?".
"Last night, before I went to bed...I looked out into the night sky, and I prayed to the stars..", I explained with a small chuckle. "What were you praying about?," Chris asked in curiously.
I smiled softly, "I wished for the twins to be happy and that I'd find someone to share my life with, and I wished to change Hopper's beliefs in my dreams. I didn't even realize that the stars were listening in last night...".
Alex grinned lightly, "Cool! Hey, we can be friends with Dot!". Ashley laughed, "And don't forget about Filk either!".
Chris chuckled heartily at the twins' excitement as I smiled lightly, wondering if we are somewhere in the movie now or maybe prior to the movie timeline...
