I don't own Chuck
Three months later found the team, minus Cole, standing in front of a monitor with a very somber, and grim, Diane Beckman.
"Team," Beckman began. "Agent Cole and his MI-6 brethren…" she trailed off.
"Damn," Casey said softly. "What happened General?"
Beckman straightened. "MI-6 got a lead on one of the builders of the compound that Bryce is holed up in. Apparently different builders and contractors built separate parts of the facility."
"Smart," Morgan muttered. Casey turned and glared at him.
"Hey, he's on our side, Casey," Sarah reminded Casey. "He's the one helping Chuck and I, he's the one that has helped YOU with the plan to attack the compound."
"A plan that is useless," Beckman told them. "I have uploaded the new plans to your laptops, including yours Mr. Grimes. Cole and his men attacked where they thought the fortification was weak, what they did not know was that there were sensors that alerted everyone in the compound. The agents walked into a sea of gunfire."
"Jesus," Carina said, shaking her head. "So, how do we get into this thing?"
"Our analysts have spent days on this data, and their conclusion…we don't," Beckman told them. "The casualties would be unacceptable. Dropping a bomb wouldn't work because they are in Russia. Bryce Larkin has the perfect hole to hide in."
"Or does he?" Morgan murmured. "Chuck, he knew you loved Star Wars, right?"
"Yeah, why?" Chuck asked.
"There's an exhaust port here that could be entered, but I'm betting you have no schematics on that, do you General?" Morgan asked.
"No, we do not," Beckman replied. "One analyst did think that was the best place to attack."
"Bryce wants you to think that," Morgan said, still studying. "So this area here, the kill zone that Cole and his men stepped into, do we have any idea how the alarm is triggered, or sensors set off? It's in the wild. A random animal could trigger it."
"That part I can answer," Beckman said, leafing through a folder. "According to data collected during the assault and other data from satellites, it appears that it takes six life signs moving at a certain speed to set off the sensors."
"So if you do it at night, you can only move so fast, and then you risk being seen, or even getting to your target, but being extremely cold…having frostbite…losing a finger…" Morgan trailed off, and then grinned. "This is actually perfect. What's here?" He pointed to what appeared to be a cave several hundred yards behind what they had called the "kill zone."
"It appears to be a cave full of wolves," Beckman told him.
"So we have this area here, the 'kill zone'," Morgan began. "This area on the west side, where the exhaust port is that I am sure is booby trapped."
"So you have the opposite side of the 'kill zone'," Casey continued. "With the main door and elevator that goes down into the compound." Casey grunted in approval. "Smart to have that side and the east side built against a hillside. On either corner of the main entrance you have two sniper towers and all these guards."
"But if the alarm goes off, all of these guards leave," Morgan reminded him.
"So that leaves two snipers," Casey said, nodding starting to understand. "How many did Cole take with him, General? I'm sure too many agents would have caused an international incident."
"You are correct, Major," Beckman replied. "He had ten agents, including himself."
"We don't need that many," Morgan said, still staring at the plans. "These five, me, to operate the drone to set off the sensors, someone to throw a grenade down the exhaust port so Bryce thinks someone tried to enter that direction, and however many we have to bring to take out these snipers."
"I can take one out," Casey told Morgan.
"As can I," Chuck added.
"Nope, don't want to chance anything with your hands, you are too important," Morgan told Chuck.
"I can do it," Zondra spoke up. "Casey and I can take the shot at the same time, taking out both. We leave our rifles there, they're too bulky to take inside." Casey nodded in agreement. "We go in with the other three, then Casey, Carina, and I take out everyone we need to, getting these two to Bryce. If most of the guards are at the far wall, it should be relatively simple."
"Wait, I'm confused about the far wall and this drone," Chuck interjected.
"Oh, sorry, thought the whole thing through in my brain forgot to explain it," Morgan said, looking up at Chuck. Chuck had to admit his little buddy looked pretty proud of himself. "So, my guess is by building the facility where it is, those wolves don't have as much of a food source as they used to have."
"We have satellite imaging of the wolves…eating the dead bodies of agents," Beckman added. Everyone shuddered.
"I thought wolves only ate what they killed," Sarah pointed out.
"If there's no food, and there are other scavengers around, they will adopt those principles," Morgan explained. Morgan stopped and turned back to the monitor. "Did the wolves not set off the sensors? Because if they did not then this whole plan is out the window."
"Oh, they did, that's what I was checking on," Beckman said. "One of the guards posted it on social media. Our techs have been scouring the digital footprints of those in Bryce's army. There's a video of the guard filming the wolves, and in the background, you can hear the alarm going off, saying the perimeter has been breached."
"Perfect," Morgan said. "I mean…not for Cole and…." Morgan tailed off, wincing.
"We get it, Buddy," Chuck said. "So this drone…?"
"Oh, right. So I'll fly in a drone with fresh meat into the kill zone, and drop it off. I'll fly it to the wolves den first, let them get the scent, and then into the kill zone, hopefully like the pied piper with the wolves following," Morgan explained.
"Then once the alarm goes off, someone tosses the grenade in the exhaust port, Zondra and I take out the snipers, and in we go," Casey finished. "Damn, Grimes, that's…good."
"So it's up to you and I to take out Bryce," Sarah said to Chuck.
"Yeah," Chuck said, nodding. This was going to be over soon….one way or another.
