Chapter 14: Month 8-Birth
It took a month before New Orleans went to war-the wolves, witches, a few vampires and Mikaelsons versus Marcel and his group of followers. Witches dealt with fights on the streets if the vampires were involved.
Elena was worried about what was happening as she was in the orchard to collect some apples (she was craving apple pie with some ice cream) when she felt something poke her in the back. Turning, she saw a dark skinned vampire with curly hair and she seemed disgusted with her presence.
She opened her mouth to scream when a hand went over it. Looking at her hand she saw a syringe filled with something and the sting of the needle going into her neck was the last sensation she felt.
Gia had one of her lackeys carry her only for the vampire to collapse onto the grass with blood coming from his eyes and nose. Gia went to help but her ring ended up deactivated and she burned in the sun.
The blonde from the funeral went over to the pregnant wolf-her sister in law-and smiled as she heard the two ba-bump ba-bumps of her and her niece's combined heartbeats. Looking around, she carried her into the house and laid her on the couch.
Her eyes narrowed as she saw Davina use a spell against one of the witches and as she was going to help the witch, she saw that the witch had a knife and was going to stab Davina.
"Now that's not nice," the blonde said in a syrupy sweet voice before whispering something and the knife-wielding witch fell dead. "If you needed help get Kol."
"Quite busy trying to calm Rebekah down," Davina told her. "Who are you?"
"Call me Freya…Freya Mikaelson," the blonde drawled. Davina gasped. "I have an interesting story that's not suitable to tell without everyone."
Elijah was furious as one of the vampires-Max-held a stake in his right hand and would have stabbed him if Marcel didn't shout, "NO!"
Everyone looked to see Marcel on his knees as Hayley held a dagger to his heart.
"Why not?" She asked. "You sent someone after my sister. My pregnant sister."
Elijah's eyes flashed gold and before he could do anything a soft voice spoke.
"Elijah?" He turned to see Elena there, leaning on Davina and a blonde woman. "I'm not feeling…" she tried taking a step to him but she wobbled and he flashed over to her. "I'm scared…" she whispered before collapsing in his arms.
"She's going into early labor because of Gia," the blonde told him. "I need you to take her somewhere safe and wait for me."
He nodded and flashed away with Elena. Marcel looked worried at Hayley who was glowering at him.
"Let me talk to him," the blonde said as she walked over to the two. "Trust me wolf girl I can hurt him after he broke Rebekah's heart."
Klaus and Kol were glowering at the cowering vampire when the blonde walked over to him, her eyes flashing storms.
"You seriously ticked off the wrong family with your wolf hunt," she warned him. "Now you get to suffer underneath our punishment."
"Who are you?" Kol asked the blonde who looked familiar and she flashed him a smile.
"That's the greeting you give your big sister?" She asked. "I'm Freya and we met when you picked me up for that party our family was throwing."
Kol realized why she looked familiar and flashed her a smile with his fangs glinting in the dying light.
"What's the punishment?" Klaus asked her curiously.
"I'm thinking he should be banished from the state of Louisiana," she told him. "What do you think?"
"Perfect punishment," Klaus said. "I'll check on him in a few years to see if he's repented and if Rebekah's forgiven him."
Kol did stake Max while Freya snapped Marcel's neck so Klaus could bleed him dry and compel him.
Elijah was pacing the now sterile room as Elena was in and out of consciousness when Freya entered the room with Rebekah on her heels.
"Elijah I need you to stay by her head," Freya told him softly. "I need to see what needs to be done."
"Save them," he whispered to her as he went to sit beside his wife's head. "Please save them." His hand held Elena's.
Kol, Davina, Klaus and Aurora could smell the blood the second they entered the house. Worry filled Aurora as she was friends with Elena and as Freya came down the stairs, she sighed.
"Both mother and baby girl-Hope-are alive," she told them. "Well-Elena did die but she is in transition into becoming a hybrid sired by Hope."
"That's good," Klaus sighed in relief. The last time Elijah nearly shut it off it was eight hundred years ago when Rebekah cried because of a broken heart and it was a disaster. "How is Elijah doing?"
"He's doing well," Freya told them. "He's making sure that Elena's feeding right and is cuddling his daughter."
"Can she…" Davina wasn't sure how to ask but Freya understood what she was asking.
"She has produced quite a bit of breast milk that she can breastfeed until she runs out," Freya answered. "It'll be a few days to a week when she does run out."
Elijah was enthralled with his newborn daughter as he could see more of his wife's features-his daughter's eye shape, nose and lips- and he was counting her fingers as well as toes.
He did hear that babies prefer skin to skin contact so he took his shirt and suit jacket off so Hope could feel his skin.
"Elijah?" He looked at Elena who was sitting up. "I think that she needs to feed." He looked down at Hope who was making suckling motions with her mouth and as he laid down on the bed beside his wife he helped her sit up.
As the top of Elena's gown was pulled down, Elijah was helping Elena move so Hope could start latching and suckling which worked on the second attempt.
"She's drinking," Elijah whispered reverently. "Look at her just drinking."
"It's amazing," Elena breathed and as she gave Elijah a sweet kiss, he responded to that sweet kiss. "This is amazing." She managed to get out after pulling away and as they looked down at Hope, they were smiling.
"Hey baby girl," Elena cooed. "Welcome to the world and to the best family I've been a part of."
"We may have some enemies but my little Hope I will protect you," Elijah told Hope. "No one will harm you."
"What's your story sister?" Kol asked once Hope was down and everyone was in Elijah's bedroom/delivery room. "What happened?"
Freya sighed.
"In simple terms-Esther made a Rumplestiltskin deal with our Aunt Dahlia to be able to have children as she was barren," Freya began. "What the price was that Dahlia decided on was a price I doubt any one of you would make."
"What is it?" Klaus managed to ask. "The price? If I learned anything from witches was that magic always comes with a price."
"The price was the first born of the bloodline," Freya answered. "I was the price and yet Esther didn't search for be but she didn't want to give me up. I believe that the reason she turned you into what you are was a way to protect you." She shook her head. "Yes, she did lie about my death but honestly? I think that everything she did was in an attempt to protect you all from what she had to do and she didn't want you to suffer the same way she did." She looked at Rebekah and Aurora. "If given the chance would you give up your own child?"
