Lucy woke up to the harsh sunlight coming through the window, her flimsy curtains failing to keep much light out. She refused to open her eyes and went to roll over to face away from the deceitful sunshine breaking her sleep when she found she couldn't move. Opening her eyes she saw a mess of pink hair in front of her, blinking slowly realising Natsu was there she looked down to find his arm tightly around her waist pinning her to him and making it so she couldn't move.

Her cheeks were suddenly flaming in embarrassment at how close they were, she tried to wiggle away but Natsu's hold just tightened mumbling "no...no move..." he still seemed pretty asleep and started quietly snoring again soon after. Figuring she had no way out Lucy thought she may as well get some more sleep, Natsu was pretty warm after all and the heat was lulling her back to unconsciousness.

Waking up a second time she found something tickling her nose, opening her eyes this time she was greeted by blue! Happy had apparently decided the pillow space between her and Natsu was the perfect sleeping spot, she reached up to push him back up the pillow and then navigated him so he was resting on top of Natsu's head on the pillow.

The soft plop of the exceed on his head seemed to stir Natsu from his sleep with a big yawn as he slowly opened his eyes blinking a few times before closing them again "Morning Luce".

"Morning?! That's all you have to say to me after you sneak in to my bed in the middle of the night AGAIN!" She wasn't quite sure why she was mad with him, he hadn't really done anything past the normal, this was after all a frequent occurrence well, other than his arm being wrapped around her. The sudden memory of his arm had her trying to push away from him again but his arm and body were unmovable to her attempts (which if she was being honest, were less than feeble at this point).

"Well yeah! You never said bye when you left the guild and Mira said you'd all but fallen out of the guild being so drunk so me and Happy came to make sure you go home ok. Then we noticed it was really cold in here but you refused to be moved under your covers so we stayed to keep you warm and stop you from getting a cold!" His voice got louder and eyes were wide open now staring into her slightly shocked ones. She hadn't even realised they were on top of the covers, definitely hadn't thought that he'd have come looking for her after not saying goodbye. "So Luce, why didn't you say bye to me and Happy? You always say bye before you leave!"

"Well...I didn't want to interrupt, you looked to be having a, well it looked a private moment with you and Lisanna so I didn't want to interrupt whatever was going on between you two"

"Eh?! I mean yeah I was with Lisanna, but you still coulda said bye Luce."

"Sorry Natsu, I didn't mean to make you and Happy worry. I just thought you were I don't know, having a moment or something"

"Honestly Lucy I don't understand what you're on about"

Lucy was starting to get annoyed now, she hadn't imagined that moment between them, she'd seen his blush, dense or not she was going to get him to admit whatever that was for her curiosity if nothing else. "I'm talking about the moment when Lisanna was inches from your face whispering something secret and then you went and blushed like a cute little idiot!!!"

He was laughing now, that irritated Lucy even more and she went to slap him in the face but his hand caught hers before she could. "Luuuucy, that's what you're so mad about?" Her quick glance away and pout gave him the confirmation that it was. "You weirdo. Lisanna wanted to tell me she'd seen Elfman and Evergreen sneak off somewhere, well that Evergreen had pulled Elfman away somewhere anyway. And Lisanna was suggesting all the things they might be doing back there. She didn't want the other slayers to know so she was really quiet when she told me"

"Oh" Lucy started processing, so they were so close as Lisanna wanted to tease her brother but not to make it guild (or at least slayer) knowledge, well that made sense "and you blushed because of what she was suggesting?"

"Well yeah, it was indecent what she was suggesting!"

"Ok"

"Ok??? Sooooo everything's ok now, we can go back to normal?"

"Well, do you want everything back to normal Natsu?" She sheepishly looked away from him again and pulled her hand out of his grasp.

"Gahhh Lucy why wouldn't I want everything back to normal with us?! Will you stop being such a weirdo and just say what you want to ask" It was Natsu's turn to be frustrated with the blonde being cryptic dropping her nickname in his annoyance.

"Fine!! Well I uhhh wanted to know well you see, well as Lisanna is back uhh w-well I guess maybe I wanted to know"

"Just spit it out already Lucy!"

Lucy turned her head away from Natsu to bury it towards the pillow and if not for his dragon hearing he would have surely missed what she said "Did you want to make a team with you, Lisanna and Happy now she's back?"

"That's what's bothering you?" Lucy still couldn't bring herself to look at him lest the crimson shade of her face be fully seen and couldn't seem to form any words so just nodded her head slightly. "No Luce" his voice had gotten much softer, final realisation of the blonde's real worry having kicked in, "I don't want to be on a team with me, Happy and Lisanna. I've already got a kick ass partnership with you and Happy! Then we have team Natsu! I mean Lisanna could come on a job with Team Natsu sometime I guess if she really wanted to but I'm not about to ask her to join the team and I'm sure she wants to catch up with Mira and Elfman so will probably tag along with them for a while at least"

"Really?" Her face turned just slightly so one eye could search out Natsu's face for any sign of deceit but she just found him looking at her slightly frowning before cracking a giant grin "Of course you weirdo, we can't go breaking up Fairy Tails best partnership going"

With that she launched herself against him to wrap her arms round his neck effectively rolling him on to his back with her crushed on top of him "Ok!" she turned to face his neck and whispered in his ear "Thanks Natsu"

He wrapped his arms around her in a lightly crushing hug "Can't get rid of me that easy Luce. Now can we get some breakfast please? I'm sooo hungry" Natsu pleaded chuckling lightly.

"You're always hungry Natsu, but yeah we can go get some breakfast. I'll go get ready, you wake up Happy" as she lifted herself off him he gave her one of his big lop sided grins which she returned with equal enthusiasm grateful they'd cleared everything up and not believing how silly she'd been for thinking Natsu would just leave her so easily.

Natsu was waiting until he heard the shower turn off before he was going to wake Happy from his deep slumber, he knew how long Lucy took to get ready so there really wasn't any rush. He sure was glad that Lucy wasn't mad with him anymore, hopefully she never found out what else Lisanna had said to him, he felt bad lying to her...well withholding some truth. After all Lisanna HAD commented on Elfman and Evergreen...but it was also true she'd said something about him and Lucy. Something about being smitten whatever that meant...and he was blushing again as he had when Lisanna had said it, what was with that?! Wait...Lucy said something about his blush...what did she say? Oh yeah that it was cute!

Natsu was still lying on Lucy's bed, one big grin plastered on his face thinking about all the crazy events and how weird Lucy had been, he still didn't know what it all meant but he did like Lucy calling him cute, that much he knew. Thank goodness Happy slept through their conversation else Natsu knew he'd be in for serious teasing right about now.

Hope you enjoyed this short fic! I like the stories on Lisanna coming back and all the disruption it makes for NALU but I hope you like this different direction too :P
