Hi 'yall! I know I said that it wouldn't be long, but I've gotten some more ideas and I think I will continue with this for a longer time than I thought. Writing may take some time for me since I have a school to go to, but I love writing this! Next week I won't be too active, but I'll get back to it afterwards!

Enjoy!

Chapter 6

"Don't!" Ellie shouted, and it was for the both of them. Joel looked at her briefly, and started shaking his head.
"Fucking hell…" he grunted, not lowering his gun. After the steps outside got closer, Andy seemed to panic.
"Frank and Oliver aren't the only one's coming, the rest are coming from the other side of the village" Andy explained, still holding his gun in the air. None of them were sure what was happening or what they should do, but their time was running out. Andy tried to keep himself alive, and so did Joel and Ellie.
"Here.. come on!" Andy continued after a short while. He took a step back and opened a door behind him, showing the way for the two. Ellie didn't hesitate, but Joel couldn't help but doubt the guy's motives.
"Do you wanna live? Come on!"
He measured Andy's eyes, but had no choice. He rushed through the door, hearing it close after Andy had entered. The boy locked it, and followed them as they ran down the hallway.
"Go forward, and take the last door left. It's the quickest way outta town" Andy advised while running behind them. Ellie led the group, not looking back once.
The other hunters' voices got distant, but didn't fade entirely. Ellie's heartbeat didn't slow down as she sprinted with all her endurance. Joel could have run past her, but his side was killing him while running.
At the end of the hallway, Ellie slowed down and saw a door on her left. She tried the handle, but it didn't budge. She immediately turned her head to see Andy.
"What the fuck?!" she shouted at him, turning her head uncontrollably to see another way. The hallway continued on their right, but it would lead to the heart of the village.
"It's locked? Oh hell…" Andy clearly wasn't aware of the situation, and tried to think of another way.
"I swear to God, I'll tear your head off-" Joel started, but was interrupted by a loud yelling from the other end of the hallway.
"Fuck! Take the right and go out the first window that comes by!" Joel continued, nodding towards the continuing hallway on their right. Ellie nodded with hesitation, but couldn't do otherwise. She started running again, getting Joel to her side while trying to find a window to go through.
As they ran, she looked back to see whether Andy was following them. He wasn't.
"Wait, Joel! Andy isn't…"
"The hell with that guy, we gotta move!" He shouted, grabbing her hand not to let her go back. She wasn't going to turn, but she felt bad for leaving Andy. He obviously wanted to help them, especially Ellie.
"There!" Joel pointed at a window, that already had a crack on it. Joel stopped by it and put his arm in front of Ellie, pushing her back a bit.
"Watch out" he warned before pushing his elbow through the glass. It made an ear breaking noise, but they could easily escape through it.
"Go, go!"
Ellie jumped through the frames, and Joel followed right after her.
"Hng…" Joel grunted as he hit the ground. Ellie felt the same pain every time her legs hit the ground, but it had had time to fade. Joel's rib had just got beaten into two pieces.
"You alright?" Ellie asked, but Joel didn't bother nodding to her.
"Am fine… Go, just… fucking run..!" He ordered with a hint of pain in his voice. The shouts behind them had faded out, and the hunters were not right behind them. In spite of that, they should still hurry.
"Ok" Ellie answered briefly, looking at him for another short moment. She took the lead again, running towards the woods that showed in front of them. It was only a half a mile to get there. Joel followed right after.

It didn't take long for them to get into the calming safety of the surrounding woods. They had walked around and around to mix their footprints, and finally took shelter under a large tree. Ellie sat first, putting her back against the trunk of the tree. Joel looked at her for a while, as she put the rifle on the ground from her back. He turned his head a few times before finally sitting down himself. Ellie turned her gaze towards the direction of the village, and was hoping to see Andy, but it was quiet and no-one was nearby.
"Don't bother your head with that kid, he was no good for ya" Joel answered to the question she didn't ask, and put his back against a large rock behind him. They had a gap of about five feet in between them, but they seemed to be a lot further.
"How do you know that?" Ellie answered with a hint of irritation in her voice. Joel frowned his face and stared at her for a good while.
"Because he's a hunter. They just.. they do bad stuff" he answered with no respect for Andy, even though he helped them escape the village.
"You used to be a hunter! Did you do bad stuff? Huh? Then why aren't you bad for me?" Ellie inquired with a frowned face. Joel lowered his gaze, as looking into her eyes didn't seem like an idea that moment.
"I never did anything that bad. Of course I regret my past, but what they... It's just... " Joel didn't want to say it out loud. He stared at his cold, bloody knuckles before rising his eyes back to Ellie. She had calmed down, and looked very pitiful with the black eye and all the other bruises.
"I can't say... uh... can't say that they didn't try, but..." she started out a sentence, and shrugged
"- but they didn't do it" The gaze in Joel's eyes got brighter, as his beliefs were proven wrong.
"They.. they didn't?"
"No. I... I guess I overpowered them" Ellie gave out a little smile. She was quite proud of herself, and she really should be.
"How's that even possible? It was, what - five guys?" Joel thought about the situation. Ellie nodded a few times, finally starting to get back into her original character.
"I just kept knocking them down" she laughed once, showing her recent moves with her arms.
"Ouch..." she murmured, after feeling pain in some of her bruises. Joel winced, but smiled afterwards.
"You really are quite a package" he laughed, after he saw a smile on her face too.

"A lying quite a package, I must say" they heard Andy laugh behind them. Joel stood up with a penetrating pain, and quickly lifted his gun in the air.
"Andy!" Ellie rejoiced, getting up. Andy didn't have his gun pointed at Joel no more, and even he put it down after noticing Ellie's reaction.
