(Author's Note: This fanfic is a purely fictional story about 3 people parking their car on the 9th floor despite the warnings. I've never driven a car yet, but I'll try to keep it as realistic as possible. I often say "this fanfic will be the scariest by far" lol but I'm going to say it again for this one!
Also later on in the fanfic, it will include details of blood and violence.
Reader's character is gender neutral and nameless, so you can imagine it's yourself, and get more immersed in the story. This time I'm typing their speech format similar to RPG video games and only the reader speaks in quotation marks. Might be a short story. Hope you all enjoy it!)
No Parking on Level 9
Level: 1-4
It was a late night, my friends and I had prepared all year for the local anime convention, and it finally started today. Only lasting 3 days in a row until it comes around again next year, so we really didn't want to miss out on any of it.
I hopped in my car to pick up my two friends who were waiting for me outside their homes. We carpooled together, since the parking for that place is always terrible. Unless you wait early in the morning, long before it even begins, chances are you may be circling their entire parking structure for over an hour before you find an open stall. None of us wanted to deal with that, so we decided to go to the layered parking structure of the nearby hospital instead.
Technically we're not supposed to do this, but there's no way I'd be willing to wait as long as I did the last time. It's already evening and the three of us were way too excited to miss out. My two friends in the backseats are Cody and Ana. We're all around the same age and we met each other during the previous convention, we're total nerds. We were already dressed in our cosplays and discussing it on the way to the hospital's parking structure.
I drove up the ramp and there was a man at the stand where you get your ticket for the paid parking. The man was middle aged, had a rugged appearance, with a low, stuttering voice.
The Rugged Man: So wh-what business do you th-three have in the hospital? Wearing those f-fancy get-ups too?
As soon as we made eye contact, an icy chill ran down my spine. He seemed to know right away we didn't really have any business here, so I thought of something quickly because I didn't want him to send us elsewhere to park.
"Uh, we're visiting someone, a patient here. And we just got back from the nearby anime convention..." I was hoping neither Cody or Ana would say anything, or else our cover would be blown.
The Rugged Man: Hmmm… Going t-to have your fun before visiting y-your friend, ain't th-that a bit rude of ya?... What're y-you three really h-here for?
"Well, we wanted to get them a souvenir and so we went there first-" I began to show nervousness but he cut me off.
The Rugged Man: I don't n-need a full explanation. As long as you-you're going to the h-hospital it's fine. J-just don't p-park on the 9th floor, it's reserved…
He handed over our parking ticket and opened the gate, allowing us to enter the parking structure.
"Alright, thank you!" I grabbed the ticket and drove up as quickly as I could. That whole conversation was starting to give me the creeps. Something about his tone just seemed off, and it wasn't his stuttering or cold demeanor...
I drove around the corner and got to the 1st level, as expected it was completely full of cars. The first 4 floors are employee parking so we can't even park yet. There's 10 levels of parking and I've been here during the day many times over the years, yet I never heard of anything about "no parking on level 9" before. I wonder what that's all about...
Cody: Man, that dude was weird. How is he working for a hospital of all places? He seems like the type of guy you'd find doing graveyard maintenance around midnight.
Ana: Well he's just the parking guy. I don't think it matters so much if he seems weird… Maybe he's not so bad once you get to know him...
"I'm more curious about the 9th floor, for some reason he said we can't park there. Maybe there's construction going on?" I said, as I reached the 2nd floor full of cars all the way down.
I looked outside the parking structure as I drove through, heading towards the ramp leading to floor 3. The night was calm and peaceful. The dark night sky was lit up by city lights and stars were visible in the distance. It's a nice night out.
I drove up the ramp to the 3rd level of employee parking, still full of vehicles all the way down. Makes me wonder where the employees that can't get these stalls park at? Because there's only 10 floors in total.
Ana: Ooh! So what should we do as soon as we arrive at the convention?! Wanna get autographs from manga artists?
Cody: I can't wait to see all the cute cosplay babes! All those catgirls are gonna be so Kawaiiiii~ If I could have a big titty catgirl gf in real life I wouldn't want anything else!
"Hah! You're such a weeb, man!" I chuckled.
Cody: Takes one to know one, weeeeeb! Hahahhaa!
Ana: Like, I've only been using 2% of my weeb power, man! Heheehe~
We continued to have fun conversations like that as I drove past all the occupied parking stalls. Slowly driving though to the 4th floor, the last floor of employee parking.
Our excitement for the anime convention sort of diverted our attention away from the fact that the man said: we're not supposed to park unless we're here for the hospital. Though what's the harm in taking just one parking stall? We'll probably be leaving in 4 hours anyway because it's already late at night.
But one thing that struck me as odd, and I didn't even realize it until now. We've been circling this whole place for a while and not once have I come across any other cars driving in or out of this place. It just feels like we're the only people physically here…
