The Real Consequence

My head was killing me when I woke to the steady sounds of beeping. Where am I? I thought to myself, sitting up from where I was laying. Then it hit me, the memories of parking in the hospital so we could walk over to the anime convention, those awful monsters that attacked us, but how did I survive? Looking around I realized I was on a hospital bed and there were 2 other people in the beds next to me, I was in the middle. They were Cody and Ana! I was so relieved that they were both still alive!

"Hey, Cody, Ana! Wake up! I'm so glad you're alive!

Cody: Argh, oww my head… Oh! You're okay! Holy shit I thought I was gonna die!... Wait, I thought I DID die… Hmm...

Ana: Oh my gosh we're all here?! Thank goodness! I can't begin to comprehend what just happened… *A nurse walked in to greet us.*

Nurse: Oh hi, glad to see that you're all awake! The 3 of you were found in your car on the 9th floor, engine still running and in the middle of the driveway area, you were all passed out wearing fancy costumes in the car! Do any of you know what happened?

Ana: Um… We weren't- *Cody spoke up*

Cody: Wh-what?! No, we were attacked by vicious monsters!

Nurse: Huh? By who? We reviewed the camera footage and there was nobody there… Your car was just driving though and suddenly stopped driving, then the other cars couldn't get through and they notified us... Would you like to see for yourself?

"Uhh, sure... " I said, The nurse pulled out a tablet with a video of my car, driving up floor 9 then stopping, and other cars backed up behind it.

"Is that real? What about all the uniformed black cars that were on the 9th floor that night? And the cat monsters breaking our windows?!" I was in shock that the camera footage showed none of what we experienced last night… Wait, how long have we been out for?... Only now did I realize I had no injuries or cuts on my arm, despite knowing well that I got clawed by that creature and I was bleeding…

Nurse: Oh my! Cat monsters? That sounds horrible! But we didn't see any of those in the cameras. Did you happen to hit your head? Or inhale some sort of chemical?...

Cody: They're not lying, that thing jumped and bashed my head with its claws and knocked me out cold!

Ana: Yeah! There was a strange smell in the air that we inhaled for no more than a short while, but we aren't making anything up!

Nurse: Ohh dear... I suppose I'll have to ask someone what to do about cat monsters because I've never heard a patient mention that before… And oh! It seems you have a visitor, allow me to step out. I'll check back on you three later!

At first I expected that maybe they notified our families about this and it was them visiting us, but surprisingly it was The Rugged Man from the front gate of the parking structure. The guy with the stutter and cold behavior that warned us about Level 9…

The Rugged Man: Aghhh… *His facial expression turned to sadness* I th-thought I told you about s-staying away from the 9th f-floor…

"It's you?... I'm sorry, I should've listened, but I didn't know-" *He cut me off*

The Rugged Man: I-I know you didn't know, I didn't know the fir-first time either…

Cody: Wait? You mean those things went after you too?

The Rugged Man: Yeah, big ugly c-cat demons or whatever y-you wanna ca-call em… Cameras d-didn't show what really ha-happend. They said th-they found me knocked out in the e-elevator. The injury's what g-gave me this st-stutter… I picked up th-this job to warn p-people like you…

Ana: Oh my gosh, I am so sorry we didn't mean to ignore your warning, there was just no open stalls anywhere and we ended up on that floor…

The Rugged Man: I don't fully bl-blame ya, it's at r-random… Only the unlucky few who v-violate rules, sometimes s-smoking, u-using employee parking, or what y-you three was doin'… *sigh* Well, consider this a l-lesson learned…

Cody: Yeahhh, I'll admit it. We just wanted easy parking… But do you know why or how that happens and it leaves no trace whatsoever?

The Rugged Man: I never s-seen a pattern in the occurrences y-yet, I don't think an-anyone dies from it. All I know i-is that the b-building used to be a place for a-animal testing, it got closed d-down for a reason. But I think the gh-ghosts never left…

"At this point, ghosts make sense… Again, we apologize for our ignorance, is there anything we should do now?" I said to him.

The Rugged Man: It's t-too late to do anything n-now that you stumbled upon it… Just don't go around spreading r-rumors, people investigating kinda ma-makes them angrier…

"I won't tell a soul." I said.

The Rugged Man: That's a r-relief, the last thing I w-want is more people go-going though it… Well, I have to h-head home now. I hope you th-three stay out of trouble a-and take care of yourselves, that's important…

Ana: Oh okay, thank you for visiting us!

The Rugged Man: It's the l-least I can do.

The three of us got discharged from the hospital after the doctors checked us again, finding no injuries of the sort but we were asleep for a whole day now and needed to eat something before we could leave. We didn't say any more about the cat people, they wouldn't believe it anyway… We changed out of our medical gowns to our cosplays we arrived in since we had no other clothes, I got in my car and drove Cody and Ana back home. The anime convention was still going on and today was the last day, but we didn't feel up to it. After what he just went through, whether it really happened or not, we needed to take a break. We would've never expected it. Who would? All I have left to say is this, when someone warns you about doing things you shouldn't be doing, it's usually for your own good.

(Author's Note: Aha! So I gave it a plot twist! Lol anyway I appreciate that you all read this far and I hope it was an interesting story! I don't know why but writing spooky stories at night with a small light by my keyboard makes me feel comfortable. That's why I like to write spooky stories lol and if I can share it for others to enjoy that's even better! And remember, don't park in parking stalls that you're not supposed to park in~. )
