The piece of paper was shaking in his pale hands, he had not expected a response at all, let alone so quickly. What was he going to say? Would he help them? Draco wasn't sure, but he had a feeling that if anyone would be willing to risk their neck for a lowlife like him, it would be Harry Potter. So, he unfolded the letter and started to read.

Malfoy,

I must say I wasn't expecting your owl. I never thought for one second you would consider talking to me, and I'm honoured you decided to come to me.

I hope this letter finds you well, as well as you can be I suppose. I have thought a lot about what you wrote to me, and I believe you to be sincere in your request for help.

I understand many of your choices were made for you, and your parents safety, as well as your own, is your main concern.

Despite everything between us, I can't help but agree with you. We are stronger on the same side. I spoke to Dumbledore, and we have arranged to get you out of there, as well as your parents', but of course, we cannot force them to leave. If your Father still believes in the cause, it will make things more complicated. I hope you are right in believing that despite his flaws, he intends to join us after all.

The less details I place in this letter, the lower the chances that we will get caught, but send word with your owl when the time is right, and we will be there.

Yours Truly

Harry Potter.

Draco's heart caught in his throat. Dumbledore and Harry were coming. Once he got ordered to kill Dumbledore- he discovered the truth that his mother had told him all along. He was no murderer. He might be spoiled, conceited, and a brat- but he wasn't evil. It wouldn't be long before the three of them were gone, leaving this dreary manor behind. He had no love for his so-called childhood home. His father had been aloof or cruel during his childhood, his mother was the only comfort in his life. You would imagine a Pureblood such as Lucius would think Draco could do no wrong, after all, he was the Malfoy heir, the Purest of blood ran through his veins. Both houses of Malfoy and Black had a lineage so long it was traceable back to ancient times.

He snuck to the edge of the dining room, some of Weasley's extendable ears in the pocket of his robes. He eavesdropped on the Death Eaters, who spoke of a mission where they had intel that Potter would be easy to reach, and as Draco listened, he could barely contain his worry and excitement. If they were gone looking for Potter- there was no way anyone would notice his hero arriving at the Manor. Draco doubted anyone would expect Potter to come to where they knew Voldemort was staying. Yet, that was the plan, and Draco's heart felt like it could burst from his chest.

So, a couple of days later, it finally happened. He didn't know how his father managed it, but the only people left in the manor were them- Draco, his Mother, and Father. Voldemort and the rest of his cronies were all out on a mission.

"My Dragon," Narcissa said. "It's now or never," she smiled at Draco.

Draco's hands shook as she handed him a parchment and quill, Lucius calling their barn owl from his large open cage.

Potter

They will be gone for about an hour before they notice you aren't where they believe you to find you. We have already lowered the wards, you will be able to enter the house without problems.

Draco

Draco wasn't sure if his owl would find Potter in time, but they needed to believe that it would work, and it worked, better than he could have ever believed.

It was less than ten minutes before the doors to the Manor swung open, revealing a bunch of Aurors, including none other than Albus Dumbeldore; the man he was ordered to murder; and his so-called nemesis; Harry Potter himself.

"You, you came," Draco said, his voice betraying a hint of surprise.

"Of course I did, Malfoy," Harry grinned. Once Draco looked closer, he realised Harry looked worse for wear, his clothes were tattered and covered in blood stains, and the scrapes on his arms seemed new.

"DId you have any trouble getting here?" Draco asked, speaking right to Harry, despite the order as well as his parents surrounding them.

"Nothing we can't handle," Harry grinned.

"Dumbledore, I understand we haven't always seen eye to eye," Lucius started out, and for a fleeting moment, Draco was worried his Father was going to mess this all up. "But, my family is the most important thing, and I love them. I can't let my son get killed because of you, or anyone else."

"I understand," Dumbledore said, his eyes were glinting at Draco, despite the sombre atmosphere surrounding the group.

"Sir, he wants me to kill you," Draco spat out, and the tension drained from his shoulders in an instant.

"I know, dear boy," Dumbledore said softly, placing a hand on Draco's shoulder, making him flinch back in surprise. Draco noticed that Potter was surprised by this news, as well as the fact that Dumbledore knew, and still chose to come to the Manor on this rescue mission.

"I think we should continue this back at headquarters," a woman said, and Draco recognized her as his cousin, Tonks, her short purple hair standing on end as she typically had it styled.

"Of course, Nymphadora," Dumbledore said. Draco saw his cousin flush, but said nothing. I suppose one doesn't tend to correct the man in charge of an operation, especially not at a time like this.

Harry held out his hand to Draco, and Draco's eyes focused only on him, almost not realising his parents each touching another Auror member's shoulders as the Malfoy's and their rescue party disappeared from Malfoy Manor once and for all.
