Vixy's Talk With Tod
The sun was starting to set as Tod the fox carefully walked through the forest. He still hurt from both the fight with the bear and the great fall in the waterfall. But he smiled as he thought that it was worth it to save his best friend, a brown hound dog named Copper. Tod just hoped that Vixy wouldn't be too mad that he had gone off to save him.
Elsewhere in the forest, a female fox was quickly running through the forest. She had a greatly worried look on her face as she searched for her love. The vixen, named Vixy, looked about the darkening foliage as she ran and called out, "Tod! Tod! Where are you?!"
She heard the sound of groaning in pain from up ahead and quickened her pace. Vixy came to a stop when she saw her beloved Tod walking through the forest. Though she couldn't see any wounds on him, Vixy could tell that Tod was in great pain. Tod looked up and saw Vixy standing between two trees and she rushed forward to him, "Tod."
She ran right up to him and embraced him by wrapping a forelimb around Tod and pressed the side of her head against his. Tod grunted in pain and he gently said, "Easy! Easy! It hurts."
"Oh, sorry." Vixy said and backed up a bit. She looked him over and asked, "But are you going to be alright?"
"Well, though a great deal of me hurts from fighting the bear, I'm okay for the most part." Tod said with a grin. Vixy breathed a sigh of relief when she said, "That's good to hear."
But then her face became very upset when she questioned, "Just what were you thinking, Tod. Running off and fighting a giant bear."
"I had to, Vixy." Tod protested. Vixy hardly seemed to understand his reasons as she questioned, "And just what was so important that you had to go and fight a bear?"
"To save my best friend." Tod said with a determined look. Vixy's gaze softened a little and she tilted her head when she asked, "Your… Best friend?" She shook her head and said, "I don't understand, Tod."
"Vixy…" Tod started, but closed his eyes and took a moment to think of what to say. He knew that she wouldn't understand it, but he had to try and explain it. He looked to her and said, "The dog that was with the man hunting us, he's my best friend."
"The hound dog is your friend?" Vixy asked, finding it a little incredulous, especially with all that happened. But she listened when Tod said, "You see, back when I was younger, I met him when he was just a pup. Our friendship quickly formed, though we didn't know what the future would have in store for us.
"We promised each other that we'd be friends forever. And we've been through a lot together." Tod said with a grin. But with a shake of his head, "But a few days ago, we ended up becoming the thing that we had hoped would never happen: enemies."
"Is that part of the reason why you were out here in the forest?" Vixy asked him, starting to see what Tod was saying. Tod glanced away and said, "That, and the kind old human woman who raised thought that I would be safer here where they couldn't get to me as easily.
"But that didn't work too well." Tod said as he thought about earlier. Vixy then said, "So, what now?"
Tod looked away as he thought about it. He knew that it might be a while before Amos might come back, but he hoped that it would never come to that. Tod looked back to her and said, "I think that we should find a new place to live." He gave a smirk when he said, "Just until it's okay to go back to the burrow."
"Yeah, but where?" Vixy asked, not knowing where exactly. Tod then suggested, "Well, if I talk to him, maybe a porcupine I know can let us stay for a few days."
"A porcupine?" Vixy asked, not feeling too keen on that suggestion. Tod nodded and said, "Yeah. I mean, I'll have a word to him about boundaries, but he should be fine."
"If you say so." Vixy said and they started walking through the forest again. Vixy kept a slow pace with him since Tod was injured. A thought came across her mind and Vixy looked to Tod and asked him, "Do you think that you'll ever see that hound dog again?"
That made Tod think as he walked. He thought about all their adventures together, how their friendship fell apart, but then he smiled when he thought about how they became friends again after the bear attack. His smile didn't falter when he said, "I think we just might."

Author's Note: Well, that's the end of this little story. It was just an idea that I had, and I plan to write another story on the Fox and the Hound. And if I'm going to be honest, this is one of the best movies and one of the best friendships that I have seen. I look forward to reading your reviews. Be sure to leave a comment either about if I've done something wrong or if you want something specifically to happen. See you next time.
