First of all, sorry this took a little while to get done. Work has gotten me a little busy but things have calmed down now. So I was able to get this done! And it was so much fun!
So I won't keep you guys any longer, I hope you enjoy.
It was a bright sunny day in the town of Royal Woods, with many people out and about and enjoying a perfect Saturday. Currently in the middle of the town where most of the buildings, restaurants, apartments, and stuff like that were was a food truck selling Mexican food to the many hungry customers. Currently taking down everyone's orders was a tough-looking elderly Hispanic man with a lightly faded brown mustache and beard combo, a small tuft of hair on the top of his head, tattoo's over his arms, and he wore a black shirt with a white apron over it. "Ok, I need a moo shu pork carnitas, two friend rice and beans, and an order of won-tonquitos," He named the orders of the people in front of him as he turned to the kitchen area of the truck. "Rapido, Nieto!"
"Grinding as fast as I can, Papi!" A 15-year-old Hispanic-American boy replied to the man with a grin. The boy was tall, very slim with skinny arms and legs, and had fairly dark tan skin. His hair, which is currently under a hairnet, is very puffy and had a galaxy blueish-indigo hue. Under the white and stained apron he had on was a green graphic t-shirt with a black elbow-length shirt underneath along with sports grey skinny jeans and a pair of sneakers with a blue H logo on it. This boys named was Hector Nieves, but he is more commonly known by his gamer tag, High Five.
"Ponzu! Chorizo! Tortilla! I choose you!" Five quoted as he picked up some ingredients he'd need for the orders and expertly laid them down on the griddle. He then grabbed a cleaver and started cooking things up. "Player ready for melee. He sprinkles and unleashes his power combo, the triple chop!" After getting all the ingredients on the tortilla, Five flipped up and caught a bottle of Yo Soy Sauce. "And for the finishing move…" Five then sprayed sauce on all of the torilla's and folded them up all together in succussion. After flicking of a tiny pepper that was on one of them, Five smiled at his results. "Flawless."
"Ok guys, it's me, K. Moon, and today is the today," Five then turned to the TV right behind him and paid close attention to what was being shown. "The seventh annual Hinobi Smash Tournament is here, and the hype is off the charts. It's set to be the biggest NS competition yet. I'm even hearing the company sent exclusive wristbands to the top-ranked gamers in each city. So, y'all, can I just say, if you got one of these things, I am mega jealous of that sweet, sweet, swag."
As she said this, Five reached into his pocket and pulled out an orange wristband with the Hinobi logo on it in Red with his game tag also displayed on it. That's right, Five was considered to be one of the best top-ranked gamers in the city. As he frowned sadly at it, the girl on the tv spoke up again. "Ok, so if we're talking competitors, we gotta talk reigning champ, Mitch Willaims." As she said this, a picture of an African-English 18-year-old boy with a blond pompadour with just a few small hairs making up both a mustache and a beard. As soon as he was mentioned, Five perked up again and smiled. "He'll be defending his title for the fourth year in a row-"
As Five continued watching, the man, who was Five's grandfather, spoke up again and got his grandsons attention. "Five, you're not burning my frijoles in there, are you?" Five snapped back into reality as he looked back and tried to reach for the food he was cooking and accidentally dropped his wrist band onto the griddle. Five panicked and tried to grab it, but the grease that got on the wristband caused it to constantly slip out of his hand.
And when he finally caught it, "AAAAAAAAAAHHHH!" Five screamed as the wristband was heated up by the griddle and lightly burned his band, causing him to drop it again on the floor.
As he put his hand in his mouth to try and cool is down, an old Hispanic woman walked up next to him carrying a pot filled with beans. Was about the same height as Five and her hair was white and spiked upward. She wore olive green skinny jeans, white boots with black stripes, black wristbands, and a shirt with a dark orange middle and light orange side with a logo on the middle. Both of her ears were also pierced multiple times. This was Fives grandmother, who he calls Abuela. "Nursing those trigger fingers?" Abuela asked with a chuckle as Five gave her an embarrassed smile.
"Sorry Abuela," Five apologized as he waved his hand around, "I was just-"
"Five!" Before Five could finish his name was by multiple kids as both he and Abuela looked back and saw a bunch of kids trying to look at five through the window.
"Five, you in there?"
"Five!"
"We're stuck again!"
"Ten minutes," Abuela told Five with a grin, making him smile. "Make 'em count, playa."
"Thanks Abuela," Five then took off his hair net and went outside to help out his friends. Once outside, Five and the group of kids headed into the alleyway where the kids set up their console that projected a holographic screen onto the wall that showed an old school 8-bit game. The kids watched in excitement as Five expertly played it while explaining it to them. "You are indeed witnessing the hidden level of Hinobi's 1993 classic, Chomp Kitty. What? You heard it was impossible? Too much game to tame? Well, as long as you feed this cat enough power pellets, you can use pattern recognition. Boom! Endless repetition. Zoom! And your own ambition. Va-da-ba-da-voom!"
The kids all cheered as Five beat the level, an electronic fanfare playing as the words "New Record" appeared on the screen. "To make the impossible possible." Five told the kids with a grin.
"Five, you're the best!" One of the kids cheered.
"My brother, he said you got one of those bracelets from Hibobi." One of the girls in the group asked, she knew that only the best gamers around got those and no one deserved it more then Five in her opinion.
"You gonna be in that tournament today Five?" Another one of the kids asked in a hyped-up tone. "You'd dominate!"
"Come on, you guys know my grandparents need me here," Five told the kids with a simple smile. Five really did want to compete in that tournament, more then anything. But he couldn't just bail on his grandparents when they needed him, they came first. "If I'm not here, whose gonna cook?"
"Oye, Five!" Five's grandfather called out to him as he briefly stepped out of the truck. "Bring yourself back in here!"
"Oh sorry Papi," Five apologized as he headed back into the truck. He must have lost track of time while playing, Chomp Kitty was his favorite game of all time after all. "I was in the zone!" When Five went back in the truck, he quickly put his apron on but soon rose his brow as he saw the griddle was turned off. Turning to his grandparents, he asked them in a confused tone. "Huh? You shut the griddle off?"
"Found this on the floor," Fives eyes widened a bit as his grandfather held up the Hinobi wristband he had dropped earlier. He wasn't expecting his grandparents to find it, he wasn't even planning on telling them since he wasn't going anyway. "Has your name on it."
"O-Oh, that's nothing." Five quietly told them as he looked away, trying to assure them it wasn't any big deal.
"Sure seems like something." Abuela said as she knew this was something big for him. They've known their grandson enough to know when he's trying to hide something.
"We looks online. Says one the best gamers in the city get these." Papi explained as he walked next to Five and grinned at him. "Says the first prize is a job at the Hinobi Game Store." Papi then wrapped his arm around Five's should and held the wristband up to him, knowing what his grandson truly wants. "I'd think you'd want an opportunity like that, yeah?"
"Of course I would, but the game's today and I gotta work," Five state, showing that he didn't wanna leave his grandparents to tend to the truck and all of its customers without him. "Besides, even if I won, you guys can't afford to replace me, so-"
"That's not your problem," Papi told his grandson as he slapped the wristband onto Five's wrist. "All you gotta do is play your heart out."
Five looked up and smiled at his grandfather before jumping onto him with a hug. "Really?" He asked with Papi's response being a chuckle and pat on the back. "You guys mean it? You'd leave work to take me to the game?"
"Hahah! Hey who needs to leave?" Papi laughed as he put a Hinobi hat on Five before giving him a strong slap to the back. "We'll take our work with us!"
"But…this truck hasn't moved since before I was born!" Never once in Five's life did he see this truck move. It's always been right here on this very spot on Royal Woods for years.
Abuela simply laughed as she jumped into the driver's seat and gripped the wheel tightly. "It's only a few miles! We can still make it!" Putting in the keys, inserting a killer mix tap, and shifting in the right gear, the engine of the truck revved up as the Nieves family quickly drove off in the direction of the Hinobi store.
"Hinobi here we come!" Papi cheered as Five grinned more then he ever has in his life.
His grandparents were the best.
MIKO'S HOUSE
In the room of Miko and Lexi, the sound of loud music was heard as Miko was doing what she did best. Playing hard. She was currently in an intense round of Guitar Hero, on the hardest difficulty of course, and was hitting all the notes spot on causing the music to only get better and louder. "Yeah! Perfect! Perfect!" The game said as Miko started banging her head and stomping on the ground. "You're a legend!"
"I am a legend!" Miko grinned as her fingers kept on hitting the notes, with her right wrist having on it none other than a Hinobi wristband with her gamer tag Me-KO on it.
Just then a groaning sound was heard as Miko's younger sister Lexi was woken up from her side of the room and rubbed her eyes in annoyance. This wasn't the first time Lexi had woken up this way, but she still didn't like it. "Can't you play in the living room Miko?" Lexi asked as she got out of bed so she could get ready for the day.
As Lexi walked past her, Miko showed off her wristband to Lexi with her sleepy sister not even giving it a passing glance. "Ya see this?" Miko asked as she didn't take her eyes of the screen for a second as she kept hitting the notes. "This means your big sis and her boyfriend are gonna wreck a bunch of fools today." Not even noticing that Lexi had left the room, Miko jumped onto her bed and started rocking out again. "I'm invincible!"
And then her came suddenly turned off.
"What?" Miko questioned who would dare interrupt her game time. Looking to the door, she saw it was her younger brother Geoffrey who was holding the cord to her came console.
"Mom said to come to breakfast before you shake the house apart." He told her before dropping the cord and turning around. "And so you can be here by the time Lincoln comes."
"Ugh, fine," Miko rolled her eyes as she put down her guitar and started to put on her day cloths. Lincoln would totally understand why she wouldn't be down there by the time he got there if she was in the zone. It only took her a few minutes to get dressed with her cloths consisted of black tank top covered with a yellow cat t-shirt, purple tights, a blue hoodie wrapped around her waist, red and white socks, grey boots, and her Hinobi wristband.
Once she was downstairs, she was greeted to the usual chaos her family usually got up to in the morning. Lexi texting on her phone while reading some textbooks, Lexi in her karate uniform blocking utensil's Geoffrey threw at her with a wooden sword, and her youngest brother Lee riding their family dog Cloud like a horse. Despite the chaos Miko was able to get herself a bowl of cereal for breakfast as she was more then used to this, plus this was nothing compared the chaos she's seen at Lincoln's house in the morning when she stays there.
As Miko ate her cereal, she felt something brush against her leg and looked down to see a little calico cat look up at her and smile a bit. "Aaw, good morning Aerith," Miko greeted her family's cat as she bent down at gave Aerith a scratch under the chin. "Heh, good thing you don't have to fight for your breakfast huh?"
Aerith let out a purr of satisfaction as Miko pet her before the cat ran off. After that Mayumi walked into the room and spoke to her kids in a firm tone, "Two minutes to minivan," She ordered as her family had a busy day and had to get on the road quickly, well everyone except Miko. "Phones off, shoes on. No ifs, ands, or buts." After saying that, Mayumi turned to Miko as her second oldest was eating her breakfast. "Well good to see you finally decided to come down, Lincoln's almost here you know."
"Oh relax mom, this is Lincoln we're talking about he'd be fine if I was still up there," Miko told her mother with a shrug, her mouth still full of cereal. Miko then swallowed her food before speaking again. "It's no big deal."
Mayumi sighed a bit before putting on a small smile and putting a hand onto her daughter's shoulder. "I know but it's just polite sweetie," Mayumi knew Lincoln wouldn't mind, but she wanted her daughter to at least be considerate of the situation. This was a rather big day for them after all. "So are you sure you're ready for that tournament?"
"Don't worry mom! I'm me and Linc will be setting new high scores like that!" Miko snapped her fingers for emphasize. "I wouldn't be surprised if we leave even Mitch Williams in the dust!"
Mayumi rose a brow, not knowing who that was but just figured it was just some pro gamer or something and decided to leave it at that. "Well I know you two will do great." Mayumi smiled before looking out the window and seeing an all too familiar car pull up onto their driveway. "Oh, looks like he's here."
Pulling up onto the driveway of the Kubota family house was an orange Dodge Challenger with sky blue flames on the front of it. Once the car was parked, stepping out in front of it was the boyfriend of Miko, Lincoln Loud. Lincoln's white hair was done up so that it spiked up near the front and he wore an orange shirt with long white sleeves with the Ace Savvy logo in the middle of it as well as basic blue jeans and red and white shoes. On his left wrist was a Hinobi wrist band just like the one Miko had with his own gamer profile name on it, LOUD_10. "Alright Hinobi Smash, prepared to face the combined powers of Miko and Lincoln Loud!" Lincoln cheered to himself to hype himself up for the tournament he'd be competing in with his girlfriend. He just couldn't be more psyched!
As soon as he walked up to the house and opened the door, Miko and her family all turned to the boy with smiles on their faces. Miko's family had pretty much become a second family to Lincoln, him being in the house was a very common sight and the family was more then welcoming to him every time. "Lincoln!" Lexi was usually the first to come and greet Lincoln as she jumped onto him with a hug, which Lincoln was more then used to, and held onto him tightly. "You're here to compete with Miko in the game tournament?"
"You know it Lexi," Lincoln confirmed as he lightly ruffled Lexi's hair, with the 11-year-old blushing in response, as he turned her hug. Eventually he had to get Lexi to get off of him, leaving her staring at him with a love-struck face, as he went forward to greet the rest of Miko's family. He and Geoffrey share a fist bump, Nica patted him on the shoulder, and gave Lee a light noogie that made him giggle, and finally he stood next to Miko and her mother as he gave the latter and side hug with Mayumi gladly returning it. "Busy day planned Mayumi?"
"You know I do," Mayumi told Lincoln with a chuckle as she returned his hug. "You two gonna be ok by yourselves?"
"Don't worry mom, me and Lincoln got this!" Miko told her mother as she pumped up a first and pulled her boyfriend close to her so she could wrap and arm around his shoulder. "We're gonna whoop so much butt, they're gonna think we're on invincibility stars!"
"We've been preparing for this for weeks," Lincoln reassured Mayumi as he pulled his girlfriend close to him as Miko gave Lincoln a peck on the cheek. "With my brain and Miko's brawn, we're the ultimate team!"
"Well good luck you two, I know you'll do great," Mayumi told them with a smile. A smile that soon turned into a rather mischievous smirk. "Oh, and if you two decided to have a little celebration afterwards, make sure you clean up ok?"
Both Lincoln and Miko's faces went red as she said this. They both knew was Mayumi was talking about. "Mooooooom!" Miko yelled out in an embarrassed tone. "We always do! You know that!"
"Just making sure." She told them with a wink before walking away.
"Ugh, I swear she enjoys teasing us way too much," Miko groaned out as Lincoln sheepishly chuckled with a sweat drop.
"Hey, hey, Lincoln. How's it going champ?" Stepping into the kitchen with a piece of toast in his hand was Miko's father Hugh. He walked up to Lincoln and Miko as he gave his daughter a kiss on the cheek and Lincoln a strong pat on the back. "You two ready for today?"
"You better believe it Hugh," Lincoln reassured Hugh as he put his hand on his shoulder. "Me and Miko are gonna go for the gold."
"Well I know you two can do it," Hugh cheered them on, causing the teenage couple to smile. "Just give it everything you got."
After he said that, a beeping sound was heard coming from Mayumi's wristwatch. As soon as it was heard Mayumi went back to speaking with her firm tone as she directed her family, sans Miko, to start leaving the house. "Ok that's time!" Mayumi announced as everyone started heading for the door, with Lincoln going to hold it open for everyone. "I want butts in belts people. Din, din. Do it now, do it now!"
Once the family all left the house, Lincoln stepped outside and stood in front of Mayumi as she spoke to him once again before leaving. "Lincoln, I'm sure you and Miko will do great today but we both know how…reckless she can sometimes get. Especially when she gets 'in the zone." Mayumi explained to him in a bit of a worried tone. "So just keep her from trashing the house or hurting herself please?"
"Come on Mayumi, it's me you're talking about here." Lincoln reassured her as he's always been there to keep Miko from going to out of control. If it wasn't for him there would have been lots of crazy stunts Miko would have tried to pull. "You got nothing to worry about," With Mayumi smiling and happy with the answer, Lincoln gave the Kubota mother a kiss on the cheek before gesturing to her families car. "Now go on, you all go have fun."
Mayumi chuckled a bit before walking towards the van, but as she did so Lincoln felt someone tugging at his shirt. "Hey," Looking down, he saw that Lexi was now standing next to him and pointing at her cheek. "Can I get a goodbye kiss too?"
"Heheh, oh alright." Lincoln laughed a little bit as he leaned down and kissed Lexi on the cheek. This caused the girl to blush brightly as a giant smile came to her face as she walked away towards the van while lightly squealing. Meanwhile Miko saw the scene through the door frame and groaned loudly, her little sister never understood boundaries when it came to HER boyfriend.
Once they saw Miko's family drove off, Miko quickly pulled Lincoln back into the house as she took his hand with the wrist band and raised their hands up into the air, both of their bracelets somehow shining as she did so. "Alright white mage, let's log in!" Miko said with a determined yet fierce grin.
"It's game time!"
THE HINOBI STORE
Located near the very center of Royal Woods, right at the Royal Woods mall, was probably one of the most popular stores in the entire city. The Hinobi game store. This store had pretty much everything you would want from a game store and then some. All the latest consoles and even some classics, games of all kinds new and old, accessories, swag, merch, and other sorts of electronics. And currently today people were crowded both in it and around it for one reason and one reason only.
The Hinobi Smash Tournament.
This was easily considered one of the best gaming competitions ever. Hinobi only made sure the best of the best was invited to compete and no one wanted to miss a second of it.
And it also made the perfect way for food trucks to make some money as they could park in front of the store and sell food and drinks to the people who would be watching the tournament in person. And currently with a coffee truck, the person running it was about to hand a cup of coffee to the girl in front but suddenly loud Mexican music was heard as the food truck belonging to Five's grandparents came in and pushed the coffee truck right out of its spot. "Oye, muchachos!" Papi said as he put a taco in the hand of the girl who was expecting coffee as he and his wife showed off their food to the many people gather around. "Who's hungry? Hahaha!"
Meanwhile, Five exited from the back of the truck and looked at the store he's loved going to his whole life as well as all the people here that would be watching the tournament…and watching him compete in it. "Oh man…look at all those people." Five said nervously as he started rubbing his forehead. "Oh nerds, oh nerds, oh nerds."
As he was repeating this, he was brought back to reality by his grandma giving him a light smack to the shoulder. "Get out of that head, you." She told him with a grin before turning Five around so she could look him in the eye. "I swear, you're gonna get lost in there one day, and I'm not gonna be able to get you out. Just have fun. Try not to think so hard."
After hearing his grandmothers' supportive words, Five took a deep breath and readied himself as he walked forward towards the store, ready to give it his all. Inside, he saw many people gather around either playing the game demos that were set up or, where most of the people were gathered up, in the back room that was opened up with a large stage in the middle where the competitors were located with people crowded around the stage and eager to watch the competition. Many people had signs with the gamer tags of the player they were rooting for which consisted of, but not limited to, Mitch Williams, LOUD_10, ME_Ko, and even his own tag of HI_5.
"We are coming at you live from the Hinobi Store located in the Royal Wood Mall, bring you this year's Nobi Smash challenge." An announcer told everyone as the crowd kept their eyes on all the gamers on the stage with each of them wearing a special VR headset. And in the very center of the stage blowing kisses to his fans was the star gamer himself, Mitch Williams. "Sponsored by Hinobi Games and Buzzcore Beverages. And guess who's out there, pumpin' up this crowd? They know him. They grew up with him. Nobi, the Hinobi Honeybee!"
Stepping onto the stage and dancing around to bring the hype was summon in a honeybee mascot costume with the bee wearing a blue Hinobi shirt and sporting some large sunglasses. Meanwhile watching from the staircase that led to the stage were some employees of the Hinobi store. There were 3 in total with one of them being a 17-year-old boy with glasses, red hair, and a very thin mustache and beard. The third was a 17-year-old Muslim-American girl with tanned skin, a mole, and wearing a white hijab on her head.
The third of these employees was the oldest of the three, being in his 40's. He was a rather portly man with red hair with a few gray spots as well as a bushy beard and mustache combo. He also seemed to wear more professional clothes as the other two wore uniforms consisting of a white uniform with blue accents and white H in the middle, this man wore a gray collared shirt with a dark blue tie while wearing a white vest with a large blue strip in the middle with a tag that said "Manager" on it on the right side.
"Man that thing creeps me out," The manager of the store said with crossed arms.
"Uh, hi. Sorry." Getting the threes attention was Five, who had walked up to them after seeing their uniforms. "Do you work here?"
"No, I just make it a point to accessorize all my button-downs with manager name tags." The man said sarcastically causing Five to smile nervously as he looked at the tag and saw that not only did it saw this man was the manager, but also that his name was Phil.
"I, uh, I have this," Five told Phil as he held up his arm to show his wrist band.
"Woah," The Muslim girl let out as she walked up to Five and looked over his wristband. "he's the missing player."
"Took your sweet time logging in, didn't you?" Phil asked as Five showed up pretty much right before they were about to start. He just barely made it. "Great. Let's incite this riot." Phil then took out a device and used it to scan Five's wrist band to make sure it was legit.
"Give it up for HI-5!" As soon as Phil scanned it, the announcer made Five's presences known as it showed an imagine of him on the screens above the stage wearing some strange Aztec-like armor.
The crowed all cheered as the 17-year-old boy handed give a dark blue uniform with blue highlight and the Hibobi H in the middle of it. "All eyes on you champ," The guy said as he got out of the way to allow Phil to lead Five onto the stage.
"Ok we're doing standard competition ruleset," Phil explained to Five as the 16-year-old followed while trying to put the uniform he was given on. "You'll be playing on a new map designed specifically for this tournament. So no outside communication is permitted in play, and there will be absolutely no respawns. Any questions?"
Phil then handed Five the special headset the other players were wearing before walking off with the other two employees helping Five get ready. "D-D-Did he just say no r-respawns?" Five asked nervously. He knew this was gonna be hard. But not that hard!
"Yep, if you're out you're out." The male employee told Five with a smile on a nod.
"So don't get nauseous, faint, or freak out, and you should do just fine." The girl said as she put a cartridge into Five's headset before placing the device on his head. "By the way, names Zahra."
"Nix," The male employee said before he and Zahra walked off.
As soon as everything was set up, Five put a determined look on his face before turning on the headset. A visor then came over Five's eyes and logged him into the game and competition. But as he did so, he missed the announcer saying…
"And logging into the competition from home we have ME_Ko and LOUD_10!" The crowd cheered loudly as images of none other than Lincoln and Miko appeared on screen with both of them also wearing Aztek-like armor similar to one Five's image had.
"Woooooah…" Five let out as he looked around at the surroundings the headset was showing him. It felt like he was practically transported inside the game as he was in an area with many large ruin looking platforms all floating in an endless void of space. And in the very center of this void was a platform bigger then all the rest that had a giant Aztec statue on it. Five then looked over himself and saw he was wearing the armor he was seen wearing on his imagine on the screen earlier with his left hand being covered by a sort of launcher that had a big glowing blue ball held within it. "This is amazing!"
As if Five thought it couldn't get any better, Mitch Williams himself spawn right next to Five causing him to go into fanboy mode. "Mitch Williams? Is everyone seeing this?" Five asked all the other players around him as he gushed over the fact that his favorite gamer was standing right next to him. "I'm meeting Mitch Williams! I-I can't believe it. I learned so much from watching your Let's Play videos."
"Haha, thanks." Mitch said with a smirk.
"We'll be ready to start once our remote players finish logging in!" The announcer told everyone as a bright glow alerted everyone of an incoming player. "Here comes on now."
Spawning right in front of Five was none other than Miko herself who looked upon everyone else around her with glowing purple eyes as she spoke in a demonic sounding voice. "I AM ME_Ko! JOIN ME OR DIE!" Suddenly the intense glowing of her eyes stopped as she smiled and put her hands on her hips as her voice changed from super deep to super high pitched. "In my Chipmunk boyband! Heheheheh-hahaha…huh? Hey, who disabled the voice filter?"
"I told you they were gonna turn it off." Spawning right next to Miko was her faithful boyfriend Lincoln who looked at her with a smirk and crossed arms. "Usually they try to keep things like this serious."
"Whaaaaaaat booooo!" Miko let out as Lincoln chuckled. "What's not serious about a demonic chipmunk? Answer me that Lincoln Loud!"
"Alright, alright, ya got me there Pixel Pixie," Lincoln held up his hands as he rolled with eyes with Miko playfully sticking her tongue out at him.
"Woah!" Five let out as he approached the two newest competitors to log in. "You two are ME_Ko and LOUD_10 right."
"Last time I checked," Lincoln nodded as he spoke to Five in a friendly tone. "Who are you?"
"It says he's called…Hi_5." Miko said as Lincoln's eyes widened slightly as the couple looked at each other. "That tag sound familiar to you?"
"Hmmmm…" Lincoln hummed as he put a hand to his chin. "Ya know I think it does."
Meanwhile Five just stared at the two anxiously as some memories came back to him…
Five was sitting on the couch at his apartment as he was playing some online matches in a fighting game…only for his first opponent to defeat him without him even landing one hit. "Defeated by ME_Ko!" Five growled in annoyance at the loss.
Five looked at his handheld in utter shock as he was playing some Pokemon online matches…only for the person he was currently facing to defeat him with out even losing a single Pokemon. Five couldn't even keep track of what was happening with the skill his opponent had. "Match Winner: LOUD_10!" Five dropped his handheld in response.
Five tried to play a third person shooter on his main console…only for his characters head to be blown right off. "Snipped by ME_Ko!" Five groaned loudly in response.
Five decided to try his hand on a first person shooter on his laptop…but that didn't go so well either. "Dominated by LOUD_10!" Five gritted his teeth in response…and to rub salt into the wound…
"I murdered your toys as well." LOUD_10's character taunted Five after the domination.
"…Nope…" Five let out before giggling nervously as he backed away from the two. This competition just went from hard, to extremely hard, to nearly impossible to win if those two were here. "Oh nerds…"
"Relax bro." Reassuring Five was none other then his hero Mitch Williams as he came up to Five and wrapped an arm around his shoulder. "No matter what happens out there, we're all gamers."
"Thanks." That almost completely made Five comfortable again, his hero was actually giving him some words of reassurance and advice.
"Three…two…one…" The announcer started counting down the start of the competition. "SMASH!"
"And gamers…play…to win!" But Mitch showed the true motives of him getting close to Five as he pushed the Hispanic boy as hard as he could towards both Miko and Lincoln, with Lincoln managing to quickly dodge out of the way leading to Five and Miko getting pushed off the ledge.
"MIKO!" Lincoln called out to his girlfriend in concern as he quickly ran over to the edge as Mitch simply laughed at them before he and the other competitors started advancing forward. When he reached the platform, he saw that Miko had managed to save herself by grabbing onto the ledge with Five saving himself by holding onto Miko's legs.
"Hey man let go of my leg!" Miko told him as she gripped to the ledge for dear life. "Only Lincoln's allowed around there!"
"Uh-uh!" Five said as he looked down and saw the fall that went on forever. "I am not letting go of you leg!"
"Here!" Lincoln grabbed onto Miko's arm and started pulling the two up, he wasn't the strongest guy around but he was able to get them back onto the platform. "I got you two!"
"Way to go White Mage! Now come on, we got time to make up for!" Miko told him as she grabbed his wrist and start running forward with him in tow as she looked back at Five. "You owe us one!"
Five smirked as he got his game on as the three advanced forward. Expertly jumping from platform to platform while also using their balls to take down the competition. Lincoln and Miko ran right next to each other, practically running in perfect sync, as they ran in between two other competitors and shot them both down at the same time with their balls.
"Woohoo! Yeah!" Five cheered as he parkoured from platform to platform, reacting quick enough to shoot down a player that landed on the same platform as him.
"Duh! Nuh! Nuh-nuh-nuh-nuh! This is our theme song!" Miko said as she and Lincoln continued to run forward with Miko turning to her boyfriend with a smirk. "Linc! Snipe jump!"
"Oh yeah!" Lincoln cheered as he came to a sudden stop while holding his hands out. Miko then flipped up into the air and landed feet first onto Lincoln's hands. "Alioop!" Lincoln then proceeded to throw Miko into the air as high as he could allowing Miko to get a view of some players in the distance, with them in sight Miko quickly shot her ball out and managed to hit one, and with the angle she had the ball bounced against the platform and hit another platform that proceeded to bounce right into another player.
"Hyper combo!" Miko cheered as she watched her ball bounce around more and take out a few more players for Miko called it back to her. "Feel the pain rainbow fools!"
Meanwhile Mitch Williams was showing just why his name was so well known in the gaming community as he maneuvered around the platforms flawlessly while taking down other players at the same time, even taking two down while falling down. After landing, he found a little kid that was looking at him in awe. "You're Mitch Williams!" The kid said in a stunned tone before giving the pro a thumbs up.
"And you're not." Mitch said bluntly before kicking the kid off the stage and knocking him out of the competition.
Meanwhile Lincoln, Miko, and Five, who they had run into again, saw this all from another platform with the former two frowning at the sight. "Sheesh, what a jerk." Lincoln said as he narrowed his eyes at Mitch, already disliking the 18-year-old. He heard Mitch wasn't the nicest guy around and was known for having an ego, but that was just plain rude and mean.
"Seriously, can you believe that rager?" Miko asked as she turned to Five.
"I guess that's why he's number one." Five said as he wasn't exactly defending Mitch, he understood how Mitch got so good and made a name for himself.
"Number one dingleberry maybe," Miko stated with Lincoln nodding in response. "Ugh, I so wanna beat this guy."
"You said it Miko," Lincoln said before the gears started turning in his head causing him to smirk. "Hey, why don't we? No way he can take down the three of us together, and after we do, best shot wins. Sound good?"
"I can agree to that," Five almost instantly agreed with a smile. He much rather be with Lincoln and Miko then against them.
"…Death to dingleberries!" Miko cheered as she quickly rushed forward.
"Uuuuuuh…" Five let out with a confused expression as he turned to Lincoln.
"That means yes," Lincoln told him before the white head ran forward. "Now come on! We can't let him get there first!"
"R-Right!" Five yelled as he followed after Miko and Lincoln.
And so the three went forward in the competition together, all of them watching each other's blind spots and taking down whatever player was in their way. All the while getting closer and closer to that center platform with that statue on it.
It eventually got to the point where the three had their backs together and took down a whole group of opponents together. "Hey, I think I have an idea for how to get us to the final platform." Five told them after they had finished off the surrounding opposition.
"Uuh, little late for that buddy." Lincoln told Five with a smirk. "Look around."
"We're already on the final platform!" Miko added with a giant grin as Five looked around and saw they were right. They were on the final platform that had the large statue in the middle with the statue having a blue orb with a symbol on its chest. And around the statue were three circular rows of different platform with each on having a different symbol on it.
"Yes!" Five cheered as the three looked at the statue. "But we should slow down. These tiles may be booby-trapped."
"Hmmmm…" Miko hummed as she looked around the area before turning to Lincoln as she pointed at all the different platforms. "Lincoln! Analysis!"
"Let me see…" Lincoln thought hard as he looked at all the details around them. He first looked at the symbol on the orb of the statue before looking at the symbols on all the platforms and it soon clicked to him. "Ooooooh! This is like that puzzle in Indiana Jones!"
"Huh?" Five questioned with a head tilt.
"See that symbol on the statue?" Lincoln asked as he pointed to what he was referring to. "Well we probably need to step on the platform that has the same symbol on it and eventually we'll be able to complete it!"
"Alright! Remember guys, stick together and find the symbols." Five told them as they both nodded confidentially. "If Mitch shows up, we try and take him out and like Lincoln said, best shot wins!"
"Let's go!" The three said in unison as they all shared a fist bump before jumping down onto one of the platforms.
The three made sure to stay close by as they jumped from platform to platform, avoiding the fire that erupted from them, while looking for the symbol that was currently on the statue. Mitch eventually spotted Five and scoffed arrogantly as he jumped closer to Five and aimed his ball at him and was prepared to take him out. "Oh no you don't!" But coming to Five's rescue was Miko who jumped in and tried to shoot Mitch only for him to narrowly jump outta the way. "Hold still you slippery sandworm!"
"I got him!" Lincoln came in and tried to shoot Mitch down with the 18-year-old quickly ducking to avoid the ball.
"You three know this isn't co-op right?!" Mitch yelled in frustration over these three working together for this competition. "There's only one winner. Me!"
"We'll see about that!" Lincoln yelled as he quickly jumped out of the way before the fire from the platform could hit him. As he jumped, Lincoln spot from the corner of his eye the symbol that matched the one on the statue. "I got it!"
With Lincoln jumping on the platform, the symbol glowed blue as Lincoln, Five, and Miko all looked up to the state and saw the symbol change again. Five looked around and eventually found the symbol that matched being right in the statue. As Lincoln, Miko, and Mitch were hopping around and avoiding fire, while Lincoln and Miko aiming at Mitch and vise-versa, Five got closer and closer to the platform. When he finally reached it, the platform rose up in the air and letting Five approach the goal ring that was above the statue. "Alright! This is for the win!" Five grinned as he couldn't believe that he was actually about to win this whole thing. But when he looked down, he saw Mitch about to fire his ball right at Miko. "Hey! Look out!"
Five then aimed his ball right at Mitch's ball, causing Mitch's ball to be knocked around with Five's bouncing around the various platform. Meanwhile Miko jumped out of the way and slid off the platform and managing to grab the edge for falling off. As Five got his ball to come back to him, it suddenly stopped in middle air as it started to radiate with green electricity. "Come on! My ball it's stuck!" Five yelled out as no matter what he did, his ball refused to come back to him. "Did this game just glitch on us?"
"Uh, I'm showing a major software bug in there, Mitch." Mitch heard Phil's words through an ear piece he was wearing, informing him of the game glitching as green electricity started to spread all through out the platform he was on. "We need to pull you from the game!"
"Not until I secure this win," Mitch told his boss with an arrogant smirk as he walked up to Miko who was struggling to get back on the platform, aiming his retrieved ball right at all. "Your buddy can't score with out a ball, and you're dead meat. Looks like this is, gg, game over."
"Oh no you don't!" Coming in quick to save his girlfriend, Lincoln jumped right behind Mitch and proceeded to wrap his arms tightly around Mitch, restraining his arms. "Full nelson!"
"A full nelson?" Mitch questioned with a scoff as he turned his head back to look at Lincoln with a smirk. "That won't hold me, I'm Mitch Williams!" Mitch then wiggled around to try and escape Lincoln's grasp, but the Loud boy wasn't loosening his hold at all. "Ok let go!" Mitch continued to struggle but to no avail, leaving him to get more frustrated. "Ok this is starting to piss me off!"
"Miko!" Lincoln yelled as he continued to hold Mitch as he gestured his head to Five.
Miko smirked and nodded at her boyfriend. "FIVE!" Miko called out, getting Fives attention as Miko aimed her ball at Five. "CATCH!"
Five smirked as he saw Miko's ball coming at him and proceeded to catch it, quickly turning around and shooting the ball at the goal ring and earning him the win! "Yes! Alright!" Five cheered as pixilated fireworks went off all over the platform. "I won! I won!"
"NOOOOO!" Mitch yelled with a fierce glare on his face. He couldn't lose! He was Mitch Williams! These three cheated!
"Sorry bud, but I guess this is where your streak ends." Lincoln taunted as he let go of Mitch and proceeded to kick him off the platform and into the void, forcefully knocking him out of the game. Lincoln then helped Miko back onto the platform form as Five jumped down to stand next to them. "Way to go Five, nice shot!"
As the three were celebrating Five's wins, they failed to notice all the green electricity that was popping up all around the arena gather around the giant statue in the middle. Suddenly, the statue's eyes glowed green as it came to life, letting out a roar and drawing the three's attention to it as it took a step forward towards them. "And we unlocked a bonus level?" Five asked the three rose an eyebrow.
"Maybe." Lincoln guessed, that seemed to make sense.
In the real world, both Zarah and Phil looked at the scene with widened eyes. This wasn't good. It just had to glitch! Right now during this big competition with tons of people watch in person and online. Just then an angry Mitched walked over to the two and grabbed Phil by his vest. "You saw the bogus shot right?!" Mitch asked as he was more than a little salty at him losing to the three that were still in the game. "It can't count! Tell me the game's glitched so it can't count!"
Phil simply frowned at Mitch as he pushed him away and gestured to the TV screens above the stage. "We got bigger problems when your high score Mitch!" Phil told him firmly as electricity started to come out of one of the TVs.
"Plixel breach!" Nix informed the three as he looked at a gauntlet-like device on his arm. "In three, two…" Before everyone's eyes, the arm belonging to the giant statue popped right out of the TV and entered the real world causing everyone around to scream and panic.
"Techs, gauntlets up!" Phil ordered as he pointed at the real-like video game monster. Altogether, Zahra, Mitch, and Nix all jumped onto the stage with all three of them now sporting gauntlets as special armor appeared over their suits with visors appearing on their faces. The three of them all fired beams out of their gauntlet right at the statues arm to try and defeat as the people around all kept screaming, some even recording everything with their phones. Seeing this, Phil tried to put everyone at ease with a little fib over what this really was. "Let's hear it for augmented reality, folks!
The situation only got worse as arms appeared out of all the TV's and knocked Mitch, Zarha, and Nix away. Mitch then narrowed his eyes at the arms before cracking his neck, this was the perfect way to vent out his frustrations. "I'll handle this myself." Mitch then ran forward and jumped up and started battling the arms, managing to punch and kick them away before one of them smacked him back down to the ground.
Meanwhile Five's visor no longer showed him the game world as he was crushed under the foot of the statue monster and was booted out of the game. "What the…" He let out as he saw everything that was happening around him. His draw dropped as he saw the arms of the statue monster in the real world.
"Zahra! Nix! With me!" Mitch ordered as he charged up a blast with his gauntlet, Zahra and Nix quickly running to his side and doing the same as they all aimed at the monster's arms. "Take it down!"
With a powerful combined blast, a massive explosion was created as the three managed to destroy the arms and knock it back into the game. After that, all the screens in the room ranging from the TV's, to everyones phone screens and pretty much all screens that were either streaming or had the game on it showing the Hinobi logo as a voice said, "A minor glitch as been detected. Please wait while we restore your system's memory."
"Ten."
"Nine."
"Eight."
"Seven."
"Six."
"Five."
"Okay, okay," Phil told everyone as he pointed at the screen, making sure everyone was looking at it. "Whoever wants a free T-shirt you just look right there. Right at the big screen."
"Four."
"Three."
"Two."
"One."
As soon as it reached one, a bright flash was created that sent everyone into a sudden daze. All had widened eyes as blue pixeled text bubbles appeared above everyones heads. The one who wasn't affected by this was Five as he was starring at the ground when the flash occurred, but when he looked up and saw what happened he yelled out, "What kind of game is this?!"
"The kind you're not gonna remember." Behind him was Mitch Williams, the pro-gamer aiming his gauntlet right at Five. Before Five could response, Mitch fired a flash of light at Five similar to the one the TV released and causing Five to enter a daze as Mitch walked up to him with a smirk and took the Hinobi wristband right from Five's wrist. "Good thing you were never here."
"I was never here…"
