Summary/disclaimer: Time for another chapter of Wolf and Reaper. Enjoy the 900-word chapter. I don't own RWBY, Monty Oum, and Rooster Teeth do.

(Mistral.)

The poison from Tyrian's tail still hadn't left Azul, the Faunus wiggled and writhed in pain, pawing at the ground like a wounded animal.

"Please wake up… please…" Ruby had Azul's head in her lap, neither his body responded, nor would his Aura regenerate and dispel the poison. Ruby refused to move on without her boyfriend and partner to accompany her.

Qrow had returned hours ago and watched the duo, ready to fight off the Grimm or any other threat. He pointed out Tyrian had long since vanished into the forest, posing no harm at the moment.

Ruby had so many questions about what was going on at the moment.

Tyrian hunted them because they were important, not just because they opposed Cinder. What Ruby wanted to know was near endless.

How long had he been trailing them, why didn't he capture them when they slept, did Cinder know where they were, and was luring them into a trap? What else did she have in store for them?

And how did Qrow know they were going, if her father knew she was heading off on such adventures, why didn't he stop her?

"He's still out, isn't he?" Qrow asked as he walked over to where Ruby was cradling the wounded Faunus.

"Yes." Ruby ran her fingers through his hair, wondering when he would awaken, if ever.

"He was being stupid trying to get involved in that fight," Qrow stated, Ruby's eyes narrowed, but she didn't turn to face her father.

"He was trying to help. I don't know if you know this, but you guys were equally matched, Azul was trying to keep him off balance so you could fight him." Ruby refused to meet her father's gaze.

Was Azul an idiot? Yes, she'd beat the stuffing out of her boyfriend and make him regret worrying her when he woke up and didn't have Faunus venom within him.

But being mad at the moment wouldn't help anyone, Qrow decided to break the silence a moment later. He decided it wasn't best to try and fight with his daughter while she was dealing with the fact her boyfriend had tried his hardest to make sure he lived.

It seemed more like he was expecting to die during the battle, due to how reckless and hotheaded he was being. Azul was a lot of things, but he wasn't stupid enough to charge into battle blindly.

"I got some of your friends for backup. I flew ahead of them though to keep an eye on you, you know." Ruby heard from Qrow as she hummed and blinked.

Her first thoughts were of her team, if Yang got here, she'd be busy trying to fight her sister while trying to make sure her boyfriend didn't die of poisoning.

Ruby was going to admit she was feeling like she earned the right to be a little selfish if she was being honest.

"You're being quiet for someone who loves talking, Ruby," Qrow stated before realizing Azul's torment was what made Ruby so quiet.

His wife used to do nothing but talk about how inseparable the duo was. They were both the first friend each other had. Azul would do nothing but play with Ruby… if someone got her mad, he'd do everything in his power to punish them, he had forgotten she was the first one to make him feel like a person besides his parents.

It also helped that Azul never treated Ruby as so ungodly darkish or uncool that she considered herself abnormal.

Azul would have taken a bullet for Ruby if it meant she was ok, and she'd gladly stand up for him when needed.

Now he was dying possibly and despite being right, he had just called her daughter's boyfriend an idiot because he hadn't chosen to stay back.

Still, it was neck and neck for how the fight was going, because Tyrian had only taken Qrow seriously, it allowed them to overcome him… even if his semblance hindered the duo, it was due to teamwork that they broke Tyrian's aura and sent him into a retreat.

Qrow did always like to think the duo would be damned near unstoppable if they focused on working together.

He decided it was to simply stay quiet and mull over what to do now. There had to be medicine somewhere, he decided to go and check the village they fought Tyrian in, even if it was old, it would indeed be worth something at the moment.

At any rate, it was better than sticking around to do nothing knowing full well nothing more could be done other than wait. Moving Azul could kill him, and the only thing keeping Azul alive was his own stubborn will.

"Just stay here and watch him while I check on the village, ok?" Qrow didn't get a response.

He didn't expect one.
