Summary/disclaimer: Time for another chapter of Wolf and Reaper. Enjoy the 900-word chapter. I don't own RWBY, Monty Oum, and Rooster Teeth do.
(Mistral.)
Ruby looked at the others and sighed with annoyance, she could see Jaune, Nora, and Ren. She couldn't hear what they were saying to Qrow, but she guessed it involved them considering the gesturing.
It made her frown not seeing Pyrrha, but then again? She had heard that the huntress was wounded in combat during the battle of Vale.
She ran her gloved fingers through Azul's hair, he still hadn't woken up, and it was worrying Ruby more than anything to see her boyfriend hurt.
The only plus side was his Aura was slowly starting to reform and help his body fend off the poison. Qrow assured him that he wouldn't die, but he'd be in a lot of pain and suffering for a while until the poison run its course.
"You hang in there, kid?" Qrow leaned on a tree near the duo as Ruby cradled Azul's head in her lap and hummed.
She hadn't seen Tyrian after the fight, according to Qrow, he chased him as far as possible before giving up the ghost and returning to the group.
"Hmm." Ruby looked at her father as her friends started to move on, Qrow looked at them who gazed at Ruby for a moment before slowly moving on.
She'd talk to them as soon as Azul woke up, she refused to let her boyfriend die on her account, it wasn't going to happen while she was still alive.
She wished she could hunt down Tyrian and make him pay, another of Cinder's thugs assigned only to slaughter and spread misery and pain to everyone around them. they needed to be destroyed.
She had heard reports on her scroll of a massive hulking Horse like Grimm and something similarly massive carving through the countryside and leaving nothing but destruction and mayhem in their wake.
Ruby had a lot of anger bubbling up in her, and she planned on letting it out sooner or later rather than let it consume her and turn her into something evil.
"Dad, what are you doing here anyway?" She asked, Azul grunted before Ruby turned her attention back to her boyfriend and sighed.
She needed something to keep the poison down, but there wasn't any anti-poison, and she did plan on going to look for some when things died down a bit.
"I came to look for you. I saw you stow away on the ship to get here… what are you doing, Ruby? You think hunting down Cinder is going to fix things in Vale?" Qrow's tone was even, but it carried an air of anger and frustration.
Of course, her father would hunt both of them down, she sighed and shook her head, laying her weapon down next to her as Azul got comfortable on her leg. She blinked and huffed.
"Cinder destroyed the entire kingdom, left, and is trying to get stronger. Vale suffered because of her, dad." Ruby stated in a tone that sounded a lot like a hiss as Qrow rolled his eyes and turned to the side.
"And this is what you've decided to do? Do you want to chase down the woman who singlehandedly almost destroyed all of Vale, just to stop her? Do you honestly think that's how this works? Does the hero fight the villain? They win at the end because of the power of friendship and hugs and crap, and everyone gets a happy ending?" Qrow glared at his daughter who met the look head-on.
She didn't forgive her actions, training at Beacon wouldn't help save the planet, it wouldn't avenge those who gave their lives so people could escape and live for another day.
Was it petty and spiteful? Perhaps, but Ruby kept finding reasons to be selfish if it was for the greater good in her mind.
Her boyfriend has chosen to come, not been forced, not been tricked and swayed into coming. he had come purely of his own accord, and her father knew that.
"This isn't going to help anyone… what would Azul say when he woke up about keeping this going?" Qrow got a very nasty look from her daughter, but he didn't care.
She needed to understand this wouldn't help anyone, it was a selfish and cruel choice that benefited nothing. He doubted Yang was taking the idea her sister could be anywhere in the world well.
Their family dynamic was as cracked as the moon itself within the bloated sky, helping make his thoughts on the matter clearer.
Would killing Cinder save people? yes, but it was a mission only a fool would take, Ruby wasn't stupid, she was naïve, and had yet to realize how things were like this.
He sighed and backed off, it would be better to help the others and find the new Grimm than try and help Ruby at the moment.
She had the stubbornness of both him and her mother.
