Summary/disclaimer: Time for another chapter of Wolf and Reaper. Enjoy the 900-word chapter. I don't own RWBY, Monty Oum, and Rooster Teeth do.
(Mistral.)
Did Ruby hear about the new Grimm from Nora despite her attempts to whisper it, at the very least? She knew something worse was in Mistral.
An 'Imp', a Grimm that could fuse with other Grimm to create hulking beasts of war the Grimm used in their struggles against Humans.
"It has to be that one…" Nora muttered, not wanting Ruby to hear about the beast, she heard anyway… Nora sucked at whispering things.
She wanted to kill the Grimm, she needed to kill the Grimm… the more she stayed here? the more things conflicted her mind. Ruby was beginning to hate Mistral.
Whatever the Grimm Imp was? Nora spoke of it like she had fought it before.
She ran her fingers through Azul's hair, curious as to what could be so familiar about the beast.
"I doubt it, they thought it was killed in a bombing strike years ago." Ruby laid Azul's head in her lap and sighed.
She couldn't do anything to make him heal faster, Her Aura couldn't just magically heal someone. Her father had told her while the poison wouldn't kill Azul? it would put him out of commission for a while.
The waking up depended entirely on how long it took Azul's body to work it out of its system and reboot itself so to speak.
That could be anywhere from a few days due to Azul's Faunus enhanced body meant his metabolism and other biological systems worked far faster and stronger than a Human's would.
To a few weeks, something that she neither could believe… nor wanted to believe. Azul was a fighter, he wouldn't lie down and die, he'd battle and cut and kick…
He wouldn't die, it wasn't in his nature to surrender to the embrace of the void like this. Ruby knew that Azul didn't lay down and accept his defeat, there would always be a fight from him before he died.
Jaune looked in her direction and she turned to the side. She didn't hate her friends, but they hadn't shown up to do anything.
She didn't want to leave Beacon, but there was nothing further the Red Reaper could have done to fix things. Beacon was fine and Vale was recovering when she left.
Still? Ruby knew they didn't blame her, Qrow had filled them all in, and considering the trio was here to help according to Qrow? It was at the least they were doing to ensure Cinder didn't escape for her deeds to cause more havoc on the world.
"Ruby?" Jaune went to say as he walked up to the girl as she ran her fingers through Azul's hair.
She hadn't noticed how quiet the wolf Faunus was till he was like this.
Ruby didn't like this, Azul was a loudmouthed, cocky at times, caring and kind Faunus… and he paid the price for getting involved in a fight between Qrow and Tyrian.
And because she wanted to try and step in to be a hero, both Qrow and Azul were forced to stop what they were doing to try and save her… all because she thought she could handle a fight she didn't want to be part of, to begin with.
Ruby did want to catch Tyrian and make him talk, he had answers on Cinder they needed, things that could help destroy her before she caused anyone more damage to either the various cities all over the planet… or someone else.
To think Cinder was still skulking around like a bug in the shadows, busy planning something while she was busy trying to figure out what it was? That annoyed Ruby far more than anything did.
Cinder was smug enough to consider what she did a victory when she killed dozens of people and not once showed a hint of remorse.
Then again? She was a sociopath, and she didn't care about anyone enough to fight for them or view them as more than cannon fodder to be thrown away.
"RUBY!" Nora yelled, trying to snap her friend out of her daze, she got a glare from Ruby which she ignored as Ruby shook her head.
"I'm thinking about what to do next, Nora… What?" Ruby's voice held no venom to it, but it was clear she was very annoyed at having been pulled from her thoughts as she just was.
Ruby didn't want to think about whatever her sister was doing, Yang had to be ticked beyond all belief when it came down to it… but Ruby was more concerned at the fact that Yang would come sooner or later.
She didn't plan on going back to Beacon, she had things to do here… Ruby had to make sure Azul was ok. That meant killing the super Grimm Nora had mentioned.
That would keep them safe, least she hoped… She hoped.
Author Notes
Phew, another chapter is done! I want to point out Azul and Ruby are going to be fighting Tyrian a lot more. The next chapter will be in a week or so and will end up showing the hunt for the Imp and what Azul was thinking. Until then, Lighting Wolf out!
Ps: Ruby next week will end up being 900 words or so.
