Smashing Blue!

~Nessa's Crashing Wave~

Both Hop and Marnie's battles with Nessa were flawless. Now it was Anani's turn. And she was feeling nervous.

"Come on Anani! You've got this mate!" Hop's cheers were the loudest. It helped her feel a little better somehow, hearing him scream his head off above the crowd.

"You be sure not to lose to anyone else...you got that!?"

Bede's demand rang louder and louder in her memory.

"Not until I've beaten you flat!"

He's right...

Anani thought to herself in a smile.

I've no room to lose here.

After all~ I've got to battle Bede again!

Anani stepped forward toward the rumbling crowd that only got louder as she stepped onto Nessa's battle field. Nessa swayed her hips as subtly as ocean waves crashing onto a gentle shore as she moved toward the center to greet Anani for her challenge.

"Welcome~ honored Gym Challenger." said Nessa, "As I'm sure you have realized, I am Nessa, Leader of the Water Gym." she stated, "While I don't doubt that your mind as a trainer is quite refined..." she said, "But no matter what sort of plot your refined mind may have...my Poke'mon and I are sure to sink it!" she declared, and the ref began to lay out the rules of battle.

"Nessa is a Water type master!" he said, "This match will be three on three... Challenger Anani, versus Gym leader Nessa...BEGIN!"

"Go! Goldeen!" said Nessa as she let loose the beta fih Poke'mon in the pool of water that was stationed in the center for fish type Poke'mon to swim.

Anani nodded.

"Go!" Anani called out, and it appeared to be Kubfu on the field.

"Kubfu!? Is she mad!?" asked Marnie, "I wouldn't exactly call that an advantage."

"Hold on!" said Hop, "She pulled this trick on me when we battled on the bridge!"

"Wait so you mean?"

"That's right." Hop nodded, "I think that might be her Zorua."

"Hmm...not much better choice." said Marnie, "But I suppose Zorua can move a bit more limberly on a field like this." she said, "With a watering pool in the center of the field, Nessa has all of the advantage."

"An interesting choice!" said Nessa, "But nothing I can't handle- Goldeen! use Peck!"

Peck is a Flying Type attack, which had a super effect against Fighting Poke'mon like Kubfu. But Nessa was surprised to find that the attack did little damage at all. Even with it being from a horn on a gold fish.

"Huh?" Nessa blinked.

"KeKeke!" Shifty snickered and leapt back into its true Zorua form.

"Quick, while it's in the air, Zorua!" Anani cried, "Use Fury Swipes!"

The small fox leapt to the air and rapidly scratched at the fish sending it back into the water. But as Zorua landed on one of the Podiums, its attack wasn't over.

"Now use Shadow Ball on the water!" she demanded. And Zorua did just that. A Massive ball of darkness shot from the air born Fox's mouth and landed directly into the pool, sending Goldeen airborne again, "Now use swift!"

"Incredible!" said Marnie, "She's fighting strategically!" she blinked, "And she's not letting up for a moment!"

"Of course not!" said Hop as he pumped his fists in excitement,"Anani's got this match in the bag!"

"Goldeeeeeen~" Goldeen cried as the onslaught of calculated attacks shout it out onto the podium, Swift being the final blow before knocking it out cold.

"Goldeen! Return!" said Nessa

"Goldeen can no longer battle!" said the ref, "Round one goes to Challenger Anani and Zorua!"

The crowd went wild with applause at Anani's clever playing as she bowed her thanks and called back her Poke'mon.

"Let's go! Arrokuda!" called Nessa as she sent out her second Poke'mon.

"Koruuaaaa!" The fish roared and looped its jumps.

"I choose you! Punkoon!" Anani cried, sending out Linoone.

"Now use Aqua Jet!" said Nessa, and it landed a sharp hit on Linoone sending it flying back on its feet.

"Hang on Anani! You got this!" Hop cheered from the crowd Marnie watched him get all excited as he cheered for his mate and she couldn't help but giggle to herself.

"Now! Punkoon!" Anani called out, "Use Night Slash!" As cleverly demanded, Linoone used Night slash on the water, and as though it were a bear fishing for its next meal, its claws sent Arrokuda flying.

"This time use Snarl!" she demanded, and with a powerful and fearsome roar the force of Linoone's growl sent Arrokuda flying back against the wall, flopping onto the podium in dizzy defeat.

"Arrokuda can no longer fight!" said the Ref, "Round two goes to Challenger Anani and Linoone!"

"She is fierce today!" said Marnie.

"Yeah no kidding!" said Hop, "I wonder if something happened that lit a fire in her belly or what!" he beamed, "This is the last match now! GO ANANI!" he cheered.

"I can't believe you brought out my last Poke'mon so quickly!" said Nessa, "Your moves are clever but you will soon find this match won't be as easy! DREDNAW!" She called out her third and final Poke'mon which was a massive jawed turtle.

Anani nodded as she called back her Linoone, curiously wondering what Poke'mon she had that could possibly stand up to it. After all, of the 5 Poke'mon she now currently carried with her...Neither of them were an electric or a grass type.

"I've got it." Anani nodded, "Let's go Fuukuu!"

Out came her Kubfu. He stood stronger than before ever since its match with Milo.

"Kubfu again?" Marnie blinked, "Does she think it will grant her the same luck it did with Milo?"

"It's possible." said Hop, "After all...Anani doesn't carry any electric or plant types with her right now..." he blinked, "But Drednaw is also a Rock Type."

"I see..." said Marnie, "So even though Drednaw is a Water Type, Because it's a Rock type too, that means Kubfu's Fighting Type moves might deal a bit of damage here."

"Exactly." said Hop as he nodded, "She's played strategically so far...let's see if her strategy will carry her to victory!"

"Drednaw...let's drown this stadium and make it our ocean!" said Nessa, "Activate DYNAMAX!" within moments Nessa's dreadful Drednaw took growth. Sending the timid Kubfu into a fit of nervous shivers.

"Don't worry Fuukuu!" said Anani,"Remember you are a mighty warrior!" she stated, "The Powerful Armor of the Master Dojo that can take on any battle!"

"Bear Bear ma!" the small bear pumped its fists fiercely filled with an all new confidence, "Now Fuukuu let's show them what true strength is!" she declared and thrust her fist forward, "Activate DYNAMAX!" she demanded, and in response Kubfu gave a firm nod and turned about face, rushing forward to thrust its fist with Anani, taking growth to an all new height.

"So you can Dynamax too!" Nessa chuckled, "Let's see if you and your teddy bear know how to swim! MAX GEYSER!" she thrust her arms to either side of her while the giant Drednaw took in massive energy into a swarling ball of water that shot directly at Kubfu, sending a storming rain over the audience. While taking a heavy hit, Kubfu stood strong and let out a battle roar.

"That's right, Fuukuu!" said Anani,"No matter how bad the storm we can force our way through it!" she declared as her hot magenta eyes flashed with burning pink determination, "MAX KNUCKLE!" She declared, thrusting her fist forward along with Kubfu as he took a might swing directly on Drednaw.

"I knew it!" Hop beamed with an excited grin, "It was super effective after all!"

"I'm...in shock!" said Marnie, "But the battle isn't over yet."

Drednaw managed to fire one more Geyser before retreating to another direct hit. Kubfu's fighting style bringing victory to them once again.

"Drednaw is unable to battle!" said the ref, "The winner of this round is Kubfu!" he declared, "This Gym Battle goes to Challenger Anani and Kubfu!"

The crowd roared their satisfaction in Anani's victory as she and Kubfu took their victory pose. Nessa took the loss as a surprising shock.

"I may be the proud leader of this Gym but I was totally washed away!" she stated and shook her head in defeat with a sigh, "Now that I've battled you...I think I understand you a bit better." she said and smiled as both Trainers stepped forward and clasped hands in true sporting spirit.

"Anani! That battle was brilliant!" said Marnie, "I was most impressed with your cold calculation and precision! Bang on!" she grinned.

"No kidding!" Hop beamed as he threw himself around her, "That match had me at the edge of my seat!" he beamed, "You are truly up and coming! I need to make sure my team gets stronger so that we can keep pace with you!"

"Well next up is Kabu the Gym of fire right?" said Marnie, "Should we freshen up our materials and Poke'mon and start heading that way?" she blinked.

"Yes, but not yet." said Anani.

"What? How come?" Hop blinked.

"I forgot to mention earlier..." Anani said sheepishly, "I ran into Chairman Rose earlier today, and he invited us to join him for a luncheon once we all got our second Gym Badge."

"What!?" Hop blinked, "A Dine in with the Chairman!?"

"Wicked!" said Marnie, "I'm glad I decided to stick around with you lot for a while!" she giggled.

"Come on then." said Anani,"Let's polish up quickly, we shouldn't keep him waiting!"
