Summary/disclaimer: Time for another chapter of Wolf and Reaper. Enjoy the 900-word chapter. I don't own RWBY, Monty Oum, and Rooster Teeth do.

(Mistral.)

Ruby chopped a Beowolf in half before turning and driving her weapon through a Baby Nevermore that dared to try and stop her.

"Ruby, this is insane!" She heard a little bit aways as she leaped to a tree branch before leaping down toward another Ursa and taking its head off with a single bullet.

She landed before the shell casing hit the ground and pulled up her hood, knowing she was getting closer by the sheer amount of Grimm in the area causing a ruckus.

"You think it's insane I'm trying to stop a rampaging super Grimm from causing more damage to the city, Jaune?" Ruby didn't turn her head to get an answer, she already knew it would be a yes.

This was about more than Azul. Ruby knew if she didn't take down the Nuckelvee, hundreds of people would die in the attempts to kill it.

"No, but it's insane you think you can go fight this thing alone!" Jaune followed behind, it was much harder considering Ruby moved from Grimm to Grimm, pausing only to cut them down.

"I have to kill it before it hurts someone, Jaune!" Ruby felt the venom in her words, something she wouldn't say back home.

Well, this wasn't Patch, this wasn't Beacon… and she didn't plan on slowing down till the massive monster was ashes.

"It will kill you!" Jaune didn't get an answer from Ruby at this, but it was clear she was angry.

Still? Ruby didn't care enough to grace Jaune with a good retort.

Not that she cared to make one. Jaune watched as Ruby kicked off tree after rock after tree. she was far too fast for someone like him to catch up to. It wasn't just Ruby's health that concerned him.

"And you're just going to fight this Grimm all over the place?! What if your fight trashes a village? What if people die? You're going to act like they don't matter and keep fighting anyway?" Jaune asked the Rose Reaper.

Ruby grunted in annoyance. she didn't want to concede to Jaune's argument as it meant her attempt to strike a blow to Cinder and clear out a major obstacle on their path to Haven was folly.

"No, but I am going to kill it… and I have a lot of good reason to want to kill it besides just Azul, Jaune." Ruby flew through the trees, her speed semblance continued to amaze her more and more as she rocketed through the branches.

She didn't want to be mad at Jaune. Ruby knew he was trying to be a good friend, but she didn't ask for more people to come out here. this fight belonged to her and Azul.

"And then what? Do you think Azul will be happy you put your life on the line for something that we need to let the military handle?" Jaune questioned, Ruby, risking a glare at him that reminded Jaune not to bring it up.

Ruby knew many people lost things at Beacon, she was well aware of that fact, and it was why she wouldn't let anyone else help. They didn't deserve to lose more than they have already to Cinder.

But bringing up Azul while Pyrrha was still busy on an operating table? That was a low blow, a very low blow that she was lucky she managed to reign in her temper.

"DON'T bring up Azul, Jaune." Ruby's tone was a very low growl, something you could compare to a Grimm with the sheer pitch of the words.

"This won't help anything, Ruby, that's my point." Ruby continued to draw away from Jaune with her speed. She had left a trail back to Azul using a tracer Dust Round, one usually used to make Grimm.

It would help lead her back to her boyfriend when this was over. She'd help him get back to good health when she got back.

Jaune sighed, knowing Ruby wasn't going to stop this pointless crusade against the Grimm. Azul had always told him that Ruby was too determined to stop when it came to a goal, she set her mind to… he guessed he was right.

Still? It didn't mean she had to go it alone. she'd be killed and they'd be stuck with the guilt, and the fact one of them would have to tell Azul and Qrow what happened to her.

No, he clenched his fists. Ruby could get mad at him if she wished when this was over, she wasn't going to let a friend throw her life away just to get payback on a Grimm who didn't have anything left to lose at the moment.

He started following her, Qrow would take care of Azul, he knew Qrow would come with them sooner or later.

"Damn it, Ruby…" Jaune decided he'd give Ruby some advice when this was over… if they lived through it, to begin with.
