Summary/disclaimer: Time for another chapter of Wolf and Reaper. Enjoy the 900-word chapter. I don't own RWBY, Monty Oum, and Rooster Teeth do.

(Mistral.)

The town was Kuroyuri. Ruby could see death all around her… the entire village had died, slain by Grimm.

Ruby leaped onto a lamppost, then to a house. She drew Crescent Rose, the sound of the weapon activating echoed through the streets.

"RUBY!" Ruby didn't turn to look at Jaune, knowing what was coming next would require her full attention.

Ruby rushed forward until she fired off a round that threw her to the sakura tree in the middle of the town. Its branches and beauty had died out long ago, leaving only a corpse of a tree.

A Nevermore, longer than a house circled the village, its caw clawing at her ears.

Then became the slow steady sound of hooves. The sound grew in pitch as Ruby looked down from the tree at the Grimm.

Jaune backed out of the way, the Grimm marching past her without a single care in the world.

Ruby looked at the monster with sheer determination. Her hands grasped Crescent Rose even tighter, almost gluing them to the weapon.

The Grimm in front of her looked like an unholy merge of two beasts that never should have shared a body. They did anyway. ruby could spy arrows and several spears, all battle scars the Grimm wore, a sign that other people had tried to murder the beast.

It walked with arms similar to noodles or serpents, both dragging limply behind it. ruby could also see that the horse like Grimm reminded her of Vale style Grimm, it was slowly advancing on the city, seemingly unaware of the Reaper awaiting it.

The Grimm let out a huff from its equestrian half as it stalked into the city, it knocked aside anything in its path before stopping in the center of town.

The horse stopped and bowed its head before she heard a crack of bone. Ruby pulled the handle on her scythe. she watched a bullet eject from the weapon and roll off the branch.

The upper half of the Grimm creaked, raising itself from the husk of its parent component. Ruby watched as the upper body slowly moved to the ground before the horse stood up and walked forward.

Each step towards her made her tense a step, ready for the confrontation at hand.

The Grimm stopped in front of her before the horse bowed its skull again, laying it so low it almost buried it into the stone road.

"You aren't going to hurt anyone…" Ruby watched as the beast rose and looked at her.

The Grimm was the size of the tree, it glared at Ruby with cold, dead, unfeeling eyes.

The Grimm reared back and reached a rubber-like limb towards her. Ruby rested her scythe on her shoulder, challenging the beast who seemed amused a lone Huntress from Vale dared to attempt to end its carnage that it slowly savored.

Then it reared back and swung at her. Ruby aimed her scythe at the limb, firing off a shot that threw her off the branch.

"RUBY!" Jaune drew his weapon and rushed in. the hulking beast roared at her with sheer glee to murder another Huntress.

Then came the Grimm's entourage, all charging to the call of their regional sovereign. A group of Beowolves leaped at Jaune as the Nuckelavee engaged Ruby with sadistic glee.

"RUBY, GET OUT OF THERE!" Ruby ignored Jaune and twirled her scythe before slashing its hand.

The beast growled and punched at the building, throwing up rubble as its fist demolished stone and wood like it was paper.

Ruby leaped from a piece of rubble to a piece of rubble, perching atop it as the hulking beast let out a roar that caused Ruby to cover her ears.

"Till the death… you want a fight till the death." Ruby flipped off the piece of rubble toward the hulking monster.

She dodged around its hand, dragging her scythe down its arm, staring directly into the soulless eyes of the beast she hunted.

If she was any less in control of the anger, she had bubbling inside of her? ruby guessed that was why the creature was so obsessed with murdering her. she would have screamed her head off or let off some stupid one-liner that would have made her sibling proud.

No, nothing but stone-cold, dead, raw DETERMINATION.

It was because Cinder Mistral was a cesspit, she had taken her rage and hatred at not getting what she wanted out on the kingdom.

And then she hurt Azul. Ruby swore either she died today, or the Grimm was cut into pieces that wouldn't ever come back.

"RUBY!" Jaune's cries were drowned out by the Nuckelavee's screams of pure agony as it went from amused to downright murderous at its assailant.

It would have terrified anyone… it just made Ruby realize the Grimm could be destroyed and killed.
