Meeting the Family/Bonding
As I glanced around the family's beautiful living room, I noticed a few Jewish items that appear to be in here. I've noticed that there's a Star of David symbol on the left side of the walls. I've also noticed that they've hung some Passover and Hanukkah pictures on the walk and they actually have a menorah on a small table. Now THIS family knows the true traditions of Judaism. I actually feel quite at home here.
As the woman called the family downstairs, I noticed that she has a Canadian son, a husband (I assume), and when I saw her other kid, my heart stopped. He looks like a male replica of me. He's wearing a green ushanka, an orange jacket with pockets and a green collar, green pants, and black shoes. As I smiled openly at him, he just stared at me with a blank expression (maybe I was staring at him too long) and quickly passed me without saying a single word. Rude, I said in my head.
"What's going on, Sheila?" Her husband asked. Oooohhhh so her name is Sheila, ok. I probably shouldn't call her that directly though.
"Yeah, and who the hell is she and why does she look like a female rip-off of me?" The boy with the green ushanka asked as he looked at me.
"Well, Kyle, I've got a story to tell you and your brother, Ike." She looks at her husband. "Gerald, you already know this story. It's about what happened after Kyle and Kylie were born."
"Kylie?" Kyle asked in suspicion. "Wait, are you saying that she's-"
"Questions later, Kyle." Sheila interrupted as she sat down. "Sit down, all of you."
And that's when Kyle, Gerald, Ike, and I sat down in a seat in the Dining Room. We all exchanged glances with one another.
Sheila sighs, "This is something I should've told you all a long time ago." She sighs again and looks at everyone, mainly me and Kyle. "Ok, so, about 10 years ago, Gerald and I still lived in Newark, New Jersey, we lived in a very humble and ghetto environment. We didn't have a lot of money back then which was upsetting considering that I got pregnant two months later. Once I hit two months of conception, we found out that I was having twins."
Kyle and I exchanged glances.
"We didn't want our children to be in a terrible environment like that," Sheila continued, "so we decided to use the majority of the money we had left to move to South Park. It was risky, but it was the only choice we had. Seven months later, I gave birth to two adorable babies. Unfortunately though, given the little money we had, we had to give up one of our kids because we couldn't afford to take care of you both." Ike scoots up closer so he can hear Sheila better. I'm assuming he's quite invested in this story just like the rest of us, except for Kyle who looked a mixture of bored and frustrated.
"That's when one of the doctors took Kylie to the adoption center." Sheila looked down with guilt plastered all over her face. "I hated that we made the decision to give her away. I was reluctant to let the doctors take her and felt furious that we had to give her up." She looks at me with a warm smile across her face. "10 years later, her older self came to the door and now she is permanently living here with us since her adoptive parents died a few days ago."
Kyle suddenly looked a bit shocked. "I can't believe it," he said, "after all these years, I actually had a twin sister this whole time."
"I know it's hard to believe, Bubbe. Please don't be too pressed about it." Sheila insisted.
"Oh, I'm not going to." Kyle lied, thought it was unbeknownst to his family. "In fact I do have a question for Kylie."
"What is it?" I asked him.
"Who were your adoptive parents? I hope you don't mind that I asked that." Kyle fake smiled.
"Oh, it's no problem at all." I assured him. "My adoptive parents were named Ariel and David Hebrews. They were really abusive towards me. I may sound like a complete douche for saying this, but I'm glad that they died." I smiled.
"Kylie!" Sheila warned in complete shock.
"She spoke the truth." Kyle shrugged. He then turned to face me. "I'm assuming you're just as cruel as them, right? I've heard alot of stuff about those two assholes. Any child they adopt they'll turn their original personalities into an exact replica of theirs."
"What?!" I'm completely stunned. I literally JUST met him and he suddenly suspects that I'm like my former abusive parents?! Who does this cute guy think he is?!
"Of course I'm not like them! In fact, I'm much brighter, cleaner, prettier, friendlier, and awesomer than they ever were!"
Kyle looks mad with his arms crossed but suddenly calms down. That was a quick expression. "Sorry," he apologized. "It was silly of me to think such a thing." I smiled as he walked up to me and gave me a hug. "Welcome to South Park." He smiled.
"Thank you." I replied timidly. The whole family came up to us and joined in on our embrace. Wow. That was the first time in my whole life that I ever felt so welcoming. I thought at least ONE of them was gonna be like the previous family that I had, but I was definitely wrong. "So….uhhh…..what are you guys like. I'd like to know."
"Ohh..uhh...would you look at the time!" Gereald said in a hurry as he looked at his imaginary watch. "I'm late for work! Gotta go, love you!" And with that, he leaves.
"I'm gonna go to the store real quick and buy some stuff. There's barely anything in the fridge. We'll talk later once I finished making dinner." Sheila said as she left.
"Imma play on my computer upstairs in my room." Ikr stated as he headed upstairs to his room.
"Nevermind them." Kyle smiled, " We can chat in my room. But first," he said as he held out his hand. "Let me show you around the house. Since you're going to be living here from now on, you'll need to know where everything is. Come on.." I smiled as we walked around the house. Kyle showed me everything in his household and I gotta say, this house looks absolutely gorgeous compared to my old trailer trash home.
When we went in Kyle's room, I started to look around and stopped when I noticed a study area. He must be a really smart kid. I was amazed and almost speechless. But I decided to speak up anyway. "You have an awesome room, Kyle." I smiled as I kept looking around.
"Thanks." He smiled as he laid down on his bed. I sat down next to him. "So, tell me some stuff about you besides being intelligent, kind, and formerly lived with those assholes."
I didn't feel like answering because I was too busy thinking about my past traumatic experiences when I lived in Israel. I sighed, "well like you, I'm also Jewish. I love to learn about my heritage since my adoptive parents never told me the right way of the Jewish culture. I'm quite a shy person. I don't really like to talk to people due to my experiences in my hometown. I also like to fit in and explore the world around me since I've really never been out a lot except for when I went to school. My school was really trashy and it was filled with assholes. And yes, I'm also counting the teachers and principal." Kyle looked at me in concern. "I was picked on alot at school in grades Kindergarten to half of fourth grade. They kept putting lots of living bugs in my locker and kept saying I was a loser, ugly, gay, and queer and to put icing on top of a cake, my parents agreed with everything the bullies said about me." I looked at my twin with sadness in my eyes. "I also used to give speeches in front of everyone, but everytime I did, they'd always booed me and yell that I suck." I could feel the tears crawling out of my eyes and pouring down on my cheeks. "I have really high morals, Ky. I love doing or talking about things that I think it's right. They mostly disliked my speeches because I'm a girl. They always assumed that my speeches and high moral grounds always cause trouble. For once in my miserable life, I just want people to listen and understand me." Kyle came up to me and hugged me in comfort.
"I'm so sorry that happened to you," he began. "I know what it feels like to be walked all over by an entire school. Trust me, I had to deal with assholes too. I got beat up because I didn't want to join in on the metrosexual fad, I got bullied for being voted the ugliest boy in the whole class, although Wendy and Stan confirm to me that it was a conspiracy later on, and I got bullied by everyone once Cartman and Heidi kept comparing me to my mom. And don't even get me started on the speeches that I used to give. I would get shunned and glared at by everyone every time I gave a speech because I didn't say Caitlyn Jenner was my hero. Ever since then, I stopped giving them because I too believed that they would lead to consequences." I looked at him in concern as I rubbed my eyes.
"I'm so sorry….you didn't deserve what happened to you." I stated as I pecked him on the cheek.
"It's alright," Kyle smiled. "We've both dealt with terrible experiences in the past, that's something we have in common. They might not be positive similarities, but it's still something, right?" He chuckled as I laughed along with him.
"Yeah, I guess so," I smiled timidly. "What about you? What exactly are you like?"
"Well, I'm very intelligent with an IQ of 180 to be exact." He laughed. I hope he's not one of those egotistical boys who's always so full of themselves. "I also have high morals. When someone does something terrible and I think it's a bad idea, which it always IS, then I won't tolerate it. I also have strong beliefs and if anyone dares to question it, I'll be very short-tempered, which is also a trait of mine. I even have this rivalry with the fatass who's name is Eric Cartman. But of course, I'll either call him by the former or his surname. I'm still quite friendly with my friends though. Y'see, I go to South Park Elementary. It's really cool for the most part, as long as you stay away from some assholes who go there. I also have a super best friend named Stan. He's pretty cool! We're practically like twins!" He then looks at me. "Uhhh….no offense." I quickly rub it off as a none taken and he continues on with his interesting story. "Some of my friends such as Butters, Kenny, and Nicole are pretty cool. In fact, all of my friends are. Since you're coming to school tomorrow, it'll be the best opportunity for you to meet my friends. Speaking of friends, did you have at least one friend before you moved here?"
I looked at him with a nervous expression. "Well…..no." I rubbed the back of my neck. "Well, I did. But my parents restricted me from having any sort of relationships and that includes having friends. So I had to stop being friends with my former bestie, Stephanie because of that."
"What a bunch of assholes." Kyle said with a glare. I simply giggled at that joke. Admittedly, he's really funny and awesome to hang out with.
We kept talking for hours and hours until it was time for dinner. We were talking about the traditions of the Jewish culture and how they celebrate both Passover and Hanukkah. I was really invested in the whole conversation. I'm so glad that these people are really a part of my family. They're really smart and fun to hang around with, especially Kyle.
Speaking of Kyle, once we were both done eating, we went back to Kyle's room and he started to tell me almost everything about his, well, our family.
He told me how mom (yes, I'll call her that now since she's my biological mother) is a housewife who's super overprotective of her children, even going so as to instigate a war between the United States and Canada in the feature-length movie South Park: Bigger, Longer & Uncut because of Canadians Terrance and Phillip's extremely scatological R-rated movie. Damn, what a tough, crazy woman she is! I guess she'll do ANYTHING to protect her children from harm. And I mean ANYTHING!
Then, there's dad. Kyle told me that he's a very smart lawyer. He also stated that dad serves as legal counsel for the Town Council, though the exact nature of his regular practice is unclear. He is also involved in litigation at various points, one time briefly becoming quite wealthy from his involvement in a spate of sexual harassment lawsuits against the town. He is also one of the more reasonable men in all of South Park.
And then, there's Ike. Sweet, little, innocent Ike. I know he's Canadian and I figured that he's adopted because he doesn't have the same biological blood that the rest of us have. Kyle told me how protective he is towards Ike and suggested that I should be protective towards him too since he's only 5 and the youngest out of all of us. And, we should be great role models towards him as well. Obviously, I would, I mean, I love kids. I would do anything to protect my real family and I mean it.
It was finally time for bed. Since I didn't really have a chance to get my stuff situated due to hanging out with my family and getting to know them, I had to sleep in the same bed as Kyle. Don't worry, nothing major is gonna happen at night, I mean, we're definitely not incests or anything. Kyle was glad that there was school tomorrow simply because he gets to show me around and I get to meet his friends, which of course I'm excited for.
After we chatted some more, we went to sleep.
To Be Continued…..
I hope you really liked this chapter. I loved the interactions between Kyle and Kylie and how they have stuff in common. Their relationship will definitely grow more as the story goes on.
