The Force shall set me free

Chapter 9

Jaune felt some new stares as he entered the cafeteria, Nora giggled and gave him a punch on the shoulder "Look at you fearless leader, famous and all" the eccentric girl said with a bright smile. Jaune gave her raised eyebrow as he looked nervously around "What did I do?"

Pyrrha grumbled annoyed and sped up leaving the others behind, Jaune turned to Ren who had a small smile on his face. "Come on man, don't give me that look you surely know what's going on"

Ren shook his head and took his scroll out "Two timing you training partner, shame on you my friend"

"That's- that's a really bad angle, makes it look more…romantic than what it was" Jaune said as he frowned looking at the picture, Ren chuckled and Nora giggled. Jaune rolled his eyes and looked back at Pyrrha with confusion.

"But why would Pyrrha care?" he whispered loud enough for both of his teammates to hear and before Nora could comment, Ren slapped his hand on her mouth "That's for you to figure out Jaune, but for the record you're denser than a neutron star"

And with that Jaune was left alone, annoyed and confused. From the corner of his eyes he saw Cardin bullying a poor faunus girl as he pulled her rabbit ears, with the Force he raised him off the ground and slammed him against the ground repeatedly. Nodding at his handiwork, he started to device plans for what to do with Pyrrha… and Blake too he guessed, he really was just content with leaving the issue like it was for the moment but with all this drama it would be best to try and clear some of the hot air going around campus.

"You're dead Jaune!" Cardin yelled as he jumped towards him, Jaune pushed him away with the force, enjoying the way his anger resonated in the force, humiliation was a good way to get anger and being defeated without your opponent looking at your direction was a good way to get that.

"When you're done playing apprentice there is a lesson in the force that you must learn, it is imperative" Nihilus said as his ghost hovered next to the table where his friends where. Jaune frowned not liking the image of his master next to those he cared, maybe he had gotten used to Nihilus only being on his mind, seeing him on the real world was as if seeing a character from a comic book jump out of the page. Something uncanny, wrong and above all very scary.

Jaune heard Cardin charge one last attack as he jumped into the air, but Jaune had enough as he used the force to slam him against the roof and then against the ground, with enough strength to cause pain. Cardin groaned as he tried to refocus his vision so he could glare at Jaune but yellow orbs staring him down made him stop, what was with that pipsqueak? When did he become so intimidating?

Disgruntled Cardin stormed out of the cafeteria, confused and a little shaken up.

"That's my team leader! Always helping those in need" Nora said as he sat down by them, RWB gave him a thumbs up and some smiles. But Yang had the biggest grin on her face as she leaned on Blake "Oh isn't he so brave Blake, I think he is trying to impress you"

Snorting, Jaune pointed at Yang with his fork "I guess this about that blogpost huh?" Blake and Pyrrha tensed up at that, Blake felt a blush starting to creep in and Weiss noticed it. She extended her hand as Ruby pouted and placed some lien on her hand.

"It's not what you think, I was training and she stopped by to say hello she slipped and I helped her while her aura finished doing it's job. I think it was just a big misunderstanding but what I am curious about is who took the picture" Jaune said and it was a genuine question, someone with a pretty good camera and an incredible zoom must have been spying on him.

"Y-yeah, I told you the same thing but none of you believed me" Blake said as she glared at her team, Weiss grumbled as she returned the money to Ruby and placed a cookie on her leader's plate. Ruby did a silly dance while Blake felt her eye twitch in annoyance, but Yang was not so easily fooled she glared at the other blonde. Pyrrha on the other hand looked relieved she even leaned a little bit closer to Jaune who gave her a smile, making the most dangerous woman on campus giggle like a schoolgirl.

Yang felt her frown deepen even more as the two continued unaware that she was observing everyone on the table with can only be described a microscope like lense, she hoped this wasn't the norm because she hated that her eating time had to be spent looking at Blake and Jaune. Not that anyone asked her but still, it was their fault that she had not really enjoyed her meal in peace two days in a row and by Oum someone was going to pay.

She turned to see what Blake's reaction to the light flirting was and there just out of the corner of her mouth, she saw it. A frown. Yang felt herself getting geared up, so it was like that huh. Yang downed her entire drink and loudly slammed it on the table "I know what team is going to win and by golly is not the one I am not a part of, see you later weirdos I have stuff to plan"

The blonde bombshell left as almost everyone stared at her, some in admiration or attraction but JNPR and RWB stared at her as if she was insane. Jaune tried to read her with the force but all he got was some giggles and something along the lines of how cute this whole situation was.

"What?" Weiss said, as she was the first one to break out of her stunned state. Blake looked at Ruby as if hoping the little sister of the maniac would have some answers but Ruby gave them a shrug "Yang… is a complicated gal"

Jaune waited for everything to go dark and for his team to fall asleep so that he could leave for his nightly lessons, he had become quite adept at escaping Beacon and heading where the force would take him, now it took him deep into the forest near his academy. Grimm where around, their hatred of every emotion could be felt echoing through the forest but their echoes where hard to reach. They were too far to cause trouble for tonight which disappointed Jaune somewhat, he was not fighting all that much and other than his time with Pyrrha. He did not want to become rusty, or worse complacent. There was something inside him now something that was not happy with just being good enough to pass, he wanted… no he needed more power and now he had come to gain more knowledge of his masters.

"Good this clearing is strong in the force, blood was spilled here and rage can be felt" the ghost of Marka Ragnos said as he motioned Jaune to approach the spot where his ghostly presence hovered. Jaune tried to reach out into the force and feel what his master was feeling but he felt as if he was watching a TV that was not properly synched, blurry and impossible to listen. Garbage noise filled his senses so he tuned it out and turned to his master to try to gain insight but Ragnos remained tight liped about it. Jaune looked deeper into it and warped his mind around the idea of what he was trying to see here, blood was spilled here his master had said. In the past.

Jaune looked beyond and tried to see how it looked before and to his surprise he managed to see glimpses of the past, a bunny walked here not so long ago. Some students had a picninc here but he could not find the rage or the blood that his master had said.

"Good, you're starting to see the force exists beyond space beyond time and with we can glimpse and sense things of both the presence and the past. This power is called Farsight the most skilled users of it can use to know just where his enemy will attack, where the shot will land in order to deflect it. You have felt this before but it's so much more than that, you have been swimming on the shores Jaune is time that you enter the darkest abyss" Ragnos said as he sat down crossed legged.

"Meditate with me Jaune" the ancient Sith said, Jaune imitated his posture and closed his eyes at first nothing appeared in the black void, but little by little the world around him changed. The void beneath his feet became solid ground of red dust, statues of great warriors surrounded him and not so far a vision of ships that he could not understand hovered over a city of brutal architecture and beautiful lights.

"Welcome to my home" Ragnos said as he approached Jaune and for the first time Ragnos did not feel like a ghost, he looked real. As if seeing this the ancient sith extended his hand showing his regal robes "Not used to seeing the regalia of a ruler are you, here in this echo I have some control of what the world around me after all I am in your mind"

Jaune looked around "What is this place"

"Korriban, the Valley of the lords to be precise, your other master requested this place to be your training grounds" Jaune tensed as an overbearing presence made itself know and the crushing feeling of anxiety made his heart race.

"Lord of Hunger" Ragnos said, his voice neutral. Nihilus bone white mask seemed to glare down at Jaune but maybe he just imagined it because he bowed his head towards Ragnos. Turning his attention to Jaune again the dark lord of the sith looked him up and down.

"Progress has been made, but do not let your first steps fill your head with foolish ideas, a sith must know that power must not only be craved it must be treasured and fiercely protected, in my time in the galaxy I saw the remnant of the sith empire rise and fall because they shared too much. A true lord takes and he does not give back, keeping your apprentices in the dark is necessary. If they truly are gifted they will make the discovery on their own and if they don't then they were never worthy of it in the first place"

Jaune tilted his head in confusion "So… you're keeping things from me"

"Yes, but that's not why I am saying this. We saw the girl apprentice a worthy person of wielding a lightsaber for sure, but can she truly be controlled? I do not approve of you taking an apprentice so soon into your journey"

Jaune gave a nod "I know, I just felt like it was the right thing the force clung to her and… I thought that I needed to follow what it said" the blonde knight said.

"Use the force, do not let it guide you. You have a goal don't you? Bend it to your will and with it carve a path to your destiny the force can lend vision yes. But it does not dictate your actions" Ragnos said, Jaune nodded at him and turned to Nihilus.

"What did you do to her by the way, I followed your instructions at best as I could but I didn't understand it completely"

Nihilus stared for a moment "A variance of Force Sever, I made her dormant to the force but didn't cut her off from it, she will be beneficial for your cause soon enough but not now. Force Sever is a useful ability to take from someone while not killing them, my old master prided herself on her deep understanding of the Force and yet I cut her off from it, her stupid attempts of killing the force gone with her mastery over the very thing she wanted to destroy, all quite amusing"

Nihilus cold voice was complimented by small visions on Jaune's mind of the incident, Sion was there and he did not hold back on beating the crap out of the old lady, but even in her beaten form her dark eyes never left Nihilus and Jaune realized just how scary that woman was.

"You wanted me to see didn't you, all this talk about past and future, this is what farsight is correct?" a nod from his masters "So in theory I could be able to use this power to prevent things from interfering with my goals, I want to graduate Beacon I really do. But I also want things to change permanently, I want the Grimm gone and I know that I can take them… they are just beasts right? They should all fall eventually" Jaune said as his distaste for the creatures made his anger surface, Nihilus nodded at him.

"Good, Farsight allows us to take glimpses but it's not perfect o the Jedi it required a lot of concentration, total calmness and peace of mind. But there is another way to do so, there is an ability that is called Force Rage you may have unwittingly channeled some of its aspects before but it works more subtly I have gave you a basic understanding of force heal and force drain, but instead of solving your physical ailments this empowers you. You use your rage to empower all of your being, the more rage you feel the more it empowers you but there is a fine line to walk" Nihilus said as he looked at the different statues of the masters that paved the way for the glory that Revan had enjoyed; the reign of terror that he had managed to create and maybe one day a new dark lord.

"Jaune" Ragnos said catching the attention of his young student "Use this knowledge to gain into the past focus; your disdain for the Grimm is your anchor and when it reaches a boiling point see beyond what no one but the Sith can see"

With that knowledge in his brain, Jaune focused all his attention into his hatred for the creatures he had sworn to destroy images of the loved ones that where lost every day and the pain of everyone around him, it was not hard to find hated and suppressed anger around him. Beacon was overflowing with it, but it was kept well under wraps and Jaune felt himself gritting his teeth as his rage reached a breaking point. Then he did it, he used his anger and infused into himself and now he had clarity cold rage burned in his heart as flashes of event became more focused and he went back and saw it.

Two hunter where fighting here, one was a woman with red eyes, long black hair. The other was a male, his eyes were also red and he used a giant scythe like Ruby did. They were both very angry and a decisive blow came to the side of the male making stumble into the ground as blood spilled on the spot where Jaune was standing.

"You're weak brother" the woman said as his vision disappeared and Jaune was returned to the valley of the Lords. Ragnos nodded at him while Nihilus simply stared.

"Good, now you see the advantage farsight brings I expect you to use it to plan your actions very carefully Jaune, glimpse into the future so you can start to plan ahead" Ragnos commented and Jaune quickly followed but he was not expecting what he saw. Pyrrha was there hidng behind the trees observing him, apparently he was levitating and behind Pyrrha. "Grimm" Jaune said as he gritted his teeth, Nihilus and Ragnos disappeared as he exited his vision and took out his lightsaber and threw it.

Pyrrha gasped in fear as the red blade flew past her head and imbedded itself into the head of a Grimm, cursing the warrior jumped next to the sith and gave him an apologetic smile. "Sorry I didn't bring my weapon" Jaune extended his hand and his saber flew back to him, he motioned Pyrrha for her hand and placed it softly on it.

"Its just like any other blade, do not let it touch your skin" he said as more Beowolf crawled out of the woods, his anger drawing them here. Pyrrha gave him a worried look "What about you?"

Lightning crackled as a Beowolf that had jumped towards disintegrated into mist "I'm fine Pyr" and with that the duo fought off the Grimm Jaune using the fore around him and within him to gain the advantage, he hated them and then stored that anger inside him to see. It was as if a movie was playing over his eyes he could barely see it but it was there, echoes of the future displayed before him. Jaune jumped out of the way of a claw that had come from his blind spot and chocked the creature until it died satisfied with his performance he turned to see Pyrrha but his jaw dropped in shock as the blade had turned blue.

"Kill her" came the voices and Jaune shook his head, but his master where relentless "Kill her Jaune, she is a threat do not let her escape" they all but commanded as his head became heavy and the more he tried to focus on Pyrrha the more his vision blurred, she was bright and it hurt him. So he closed his eyes and stopped using the force for the moment, when he opened his eyes again the blade was red as it normally was and Pyrrha was not blinding.

The red head turned to him and gave him a smile "This weapon is amazing, youre going to have to make me one" Pyrrha said as Jaune stared at her confused, not used to the proximity Pyrrha blushed and looked away. "Something on my face?" she asked as Jaune took back his weapon.

"No, it's nothing but for a second to me it felt as if you were glowing" Jaune said bluntly and Pyrrha's blush worsened, but Jaune was too wrapped up on his thoughts and suppressing the screams and reprimands of his masters. Something was not right, it did not make any sense what was happening and it troubled him greatly. As they made their way back into Beacon in silence Pyrrha snapped out of her tranquil state and turned to glare at Jaune "Don't think because you said nice things to me you're off the hook, why are you doing this? Almost every night you leave to do… whatever it is you were doing back, I'm worried Jaune you look terrible and I… I don't want you to feel like you're carrying the world on your shoulders because you're not, I need you to understand that" Pyrrha waited for an aswer but al that she got was a quiet sigh and sad look.

"I'm sorry I didn't know I was worrying you or that you knew of my training… I just didn't want to be a burden" Jaune said as they approached Beacon, he wanted to say no but he was delaing with ay to much at the moment he was realizing everything into the force, his masters voices and the turmoil of emotions he was feeling, it was making him exhausted. But he didn't care he had Pyrrha and no matter what he was not going to fail her. Surprising them both Jaune wrapped his arms around her and gave her a tight hug.

"I promise, all of this will change, starting tomorrow for now let's just get some sleep" the blonde leader said and tried to let go so they could walk back to their dorm but there was one problem.

"Pyrrha… let me go" Jaune said as he felt a blush creep on his cheeks, oh man he was so distracted by all of this that he forgot that he was not only way too close to a girl; but he was also close to one of the prettiest girls he had ever seen (even if Weiss was prettier if you asked him).

"Hmm just a little bit longer" the red warrior said as she closed her eyes and enjoyed the moment, Pyrrha needed to be careful, Jaune thought if she kept this up maybe he would start to think that she liked him or something like that and so Pyrrha finally let go of Jaune and both of them started their long and awkward walk back.

"Glynda" Ozpin wrote as he downloaded the clip that the cameras had captured "Be sure not to go too hard on detention" he finished as he sent the message to her scroll knowing that it would be the first thing she saw in the morning and it would make her temper flare up.

"This is good coffee"

Katarr was considered a lost planet to almost everyone in the galaxy, it was ravaged by the Sith wars but very few knew what lead to its real downfall. Nihilus lord of hunger had visited the planet and consumed all life reducing it to nothing more than a barren husk of death, sparing only one. To this day, no one knew why. Not even she knew why the merciless monster that consumed all would take pity on her and allow her to keep walking amongs the living. She had served under him for so long that she had forgotten what it was to live, but then SHE came and saved her. Most would have described her as a beacon but Visas she was so much more.

A friend, a mentor and her savior all in one, someone that Visas had no problem saying that she loved and yet she had left to the unknown regions never to be seen again and she was left alone. Visas had tried to move forward helping the Jedi rebuild but it did not fill the hole that the Exile had left, so she returned to the place where all people go when they are lost. Home.

The dead planet of Katarr and there she decided she would rest turning off her spaceship she laid her head against the soil and then she saw glimmers of light in the dying planet. Her deep sleep was uninterrupted for some time but she suddenly awoke. It was faint but it was there, her planet woke up at HIS voice as if it was having a nightmare the very force around her bagged for her to wake up and it infused her with energy waking up with a gasp she heard it loud and clear.

"Kill her" the voice in her head, her master had returned.

"KILL HER!" the voice yelled as Visas screamed in frustration pain and fear. And her planet did with her, the nightmare did not end and now Visas was all alone, her beacon of hope not with her anymore. But she would not let this come to pass, if no one would aid her then she would do so. Stumbling to her feet Visas looked to herself and found herself to be naked upon the surface of the planet, as if it had given birth to her. She wondered just how ong had passed since she last walked the galaxy.

Her ship looked rusty and barely usable but she needed it for only one jump to the nearest system and then maybe she could gather some Jedi to aid her in her quest, just like SHE did. Visas felt the ghost of a smile thug at her lips, her old master was here but the woman that had defeated him was not. What a terrible irony that was and it pained her.

"HE will not win, I won't let him" a soft whisper into the abyss, the echoes of a dead planet and a promise of the last miraluka, Visas Marr.
