Summary/disclaimer: Time for another chapter of Wolf and Reaper. Enjoy the 900-word chapter. I don't own RWBY, Monty Oum, and Rooster Teeth do.

(Mistral.)

"I was wondering when you'd come back," Ruby said when Azul opened the door.

It had been a whole day. Azul had seen Ruby practice her shooting while he continued to push his semblance and skills to the test. His body was still healing, but Azul was glad he was getting better every single day.

Ruby blinked, her sliver eyes lighting up the darkroom. She kicked her feet back and forth as the Faunus walked across the room.

"I thought you'd be asleep." Azul quietly said before slowly moving the covers to the side. "Sorry if I woke you," Azul said and sighed.

He knew for a fact that he was tired. His eyes sagged for a moment; Azul could only wonder what happens next.

"I knew you were coming," Ruby said which made Azul blink and look at her. "You're not exactly quiet." Ruby put in which made him hum.

Azul slowly laid down in bed. He was greeted by footsteps as they slowly made their way across the room. Azul started to close his eyes and chalked it up to Ruby simply not wanting to sleep yet.

Azul blinked as looked to see Ruby had sat cross-legged at the other end of the bed.

"Rubes?" Azul questioned as he stood up. Ruby hummed and looked at her boyfriend.

"We need to talk," Ruby said as Azul turned on the light and looked at Ruby. "We haven't talked since yesterday." Ruby pointed out.

Azul rubbed at his eyes and looked at the clock. It was almost midnight. He sighed and nodded before looking at Ruby.

"Ok, what about it?" Azul questioned as he pulled the covers down. He looked at his girlfriend.

Ruby looked at Azul's face. His lips pulled into a frown, more dreading the idea of talking. Ruby could only hum as Ruby looked to Azul who continued to blink.

"Why did you get mad at me?" Ruby questioned before Azul frowned. "You want to keep getting into battle, after the battle. Almost like you want to fight." Ruby stated as Azul went to open his mouth.

Ruby could almost read her boyfriend's lips. She knew he'd say another excuse. He would want to fight; she knew for a fact that he wanted to fight.

She couldn't blame him. She wanted to fight Cinder, stop her and take her down before she destroyed another kingdom. But she wasn't injured, Azul was. If he tried to get on the battlefield? He'd get overpowered, and like her? That wouldn't stop him.

Ruby knew Azul would fight till he died, and if he was better? She'd be angrier at the fact that he didn't let her help her.

She was angrier at the fact that Azul was too stubborn to quit.

"If the next words out of your mouth are 'Because I can't back down?'" Ruby questioned, fury building in her eyes. "Then I'm going to hurt you. I don't want to hurt you… But you're being an idiot. You want to keep throwing yourself at Cinder thinking if we just fight harder, we're winning." Ruby added as she sighed.

"And you think we should…. What?" Azul questioned as he dragged himself up and crossed his legs. "Let them kill us off? If we don't fight? Remnant will die. You saw what she did to Vale. She'll continue to burn down the rest of the world." Azul pointed out as Ruby pounded on the bed with anger.

"And you want to throw your life away?!" Ruby yelled as Azul hummed. "You almost got killed by Tyrian! You think you can beat someone like Cinder if you can't even beat one of her enforcers?" Ruby questioned and looked to the side.

"I signed up for this," Azul said as he pointed a finger at Ruby. "So, did you. We both knew the risks. You want me to give up because what? I'm hurt? Do you think what would happen if we gave up? Cinder would destroy the rest of the world." Azul said with a scowl.

Ruby didn't back down; it was part of the reason he loved her so much. But he knew what giving up meant. A few wounds were worth it if the entire planet was still alive. At least he'd be able to enjoy the planet if he was alive and able to see it.

Ruby scowled at her stubborn boyfriend. She could only look to the side which made him blink.

"What do you want me to do?" Azul questioned and crossed his arms. "Let other people fight for me? I signed up to be a huntsman. I'm in this till the end, Rubes. And you know it because you're the same way. You can't play the stubborn card when you're too stubborn to quit." Azul added.

He sighed and hummed before blinking.
