"Destroy it! Destroy it all!" bede cried out, "We're going to find those Wishing Stars!" he huffed. "
"Bede!" Hop snapped, grasping for the boy's attention. starting him into the present moment, "Have you gone mad!?"
"Hold on, Hop, you know this boy!?" asked Sonia.
"He's Bede." said Hop, "A Fellow Gym Trainer...but what he's doing attacking the ruins I haven't the foggiest!" he stated, "It's like he's gone off his rocker-!"
"Bede...!" Anani called to him, she too was trembling. "What is this?" she blinked, "What are you doing!?"
"Anani..." Hop whispered her name softly under his breath and sighed.
I hope you can talk some sense into him mate...
He thought to himself.
This wally seems to atleast LISTEN to you...
"Ah...Anani..." Bede called back to her.
She's here...looking upon me...like this!
He thought to himself while gritting his teeth.
How I must look to her now...
With clenched fists, he trembled as he spoke...
"Oleana said...I've got to bring the Chairman even more Wishing Stars If I want to please him..." he was panting, with trembling arms standing next to a Copperajah.
"An THIS is the way to do that, mate!?" asked Hop, "By destroying galar's History!?"
"Hop please-" said Anani, extending her arm infront of him, "Talking to him like that in such a state is only going to get him more riled up..." she said softly.
"You..." he blinked, "...How do you know so well?" he wondered.
"because..." she said softly, "I...just do." she sighed.
Because I know such feelings...all too well...
"Bede...please." Anani called to him calmly, "Please calm down...let's talk this out..." she stated, "This is wrong and you knw it is and I know that you know it so...please..."
"Anani..." Bede's eyes trembled and he bit his bottom lip.
What do I do...?
What do I do!?
He shook his head.
"No- I must!" he said, "For the Chairman-I must-" he clenched his fists, "Copperajah!" he called, "If you're truly the chairman's Pokemon, then you should feel grateful for this chance to help him find more Wishing Stars!" he claimed, "Help me help your master find them!"
"That's enough!" Hop snapped shoving his way passed Anani.
"Hop wait!" Anani cried.
"Oh my...so it's you again." Bede huffed, "What do you think you can start gathering Wishing Stars too and get in the chairman's favor!?"
"What!?" Hop snapped and shook his head, "This has nothing to do with that-LOOK at what you're doing!" he stated, gripping tightly to the boy's long pink coat.
"My my aren't you cunning." Bede scoffed, brushing off Hop's grip, "Well I won't have it!" he declared, charging forward. startling Hop back a bit.
"THAT'S ENOUGH!" Anani called out, forcing her wau between the boys.
"Anani are you mad!? Get back-he's wild!" said Hop, but Bede managed to stop himself before landing a swing on the girl before him who stood trembling and her arms up, preparing for the hit that never landed.
"Wh...What are you doing...?" he asked her, trembling.
Anani shook her head.
"Nevermind me, Bede...she said to him, look at what you're doing..."
"I..." his fist clenched up so tightly you could hear the leather of his gloved hand crunch within his grip, " I...Won't let ANYONE stand in my way!" he declared, jumping back and thrusting a Poke'ball forward, "Go, Duosion!"
"If it's a battle you want, then fine then!" said Hop, but Anani gripped back his arm.
"...I'm going to do it." she said to him...
"But Anani-"
"GO!" she called out, without giving Hop the chance to defy her wishes, and out popped Urshifu.
"Huh, you dare send your teddy bear after me!?" Bede scoffed, "He may be bigger now but he'll fall hard-Use psychic!"
But the move had no effect...except to break her Zoroark's illusion.
"Hmph, I've already spent more than enough time with you to see and judge you and your team's abilities."
"All the more reason to open your eyes, now don't you think!?" said Anani, "You're attacking your FRIENDS bede! use Night Slash!" Zoroark's wicked claw quickly cleared away Bede's Duosion.
"Hmph...friends you say-" he scoffed as he called back his Poke'mon, "And what friends do you speak of!?" he huffed, "Go, Hattrem! Use Disarming voice!"
The Poke'mon's cry shot super effective pain through Anani's Zoroark, dealing a great deal of damage.
"What about ME!?" she asked back, "Aren't we friends!?"
Bede let out a soft gasp. This seemed to shake him a bit...and distract him just enough to guard himself against the body of his defeated Hattrem that was blown away by Zoroark's Shadow Ball.
"Tch-You think I'm foolish enough to believe that!?" he asked as he sent out Ponyta, a beautifully mystically colored unicorn like creature of the fairy forests in galar. With a sharp stab of its headbutt it knocked the wind out of Zoroak, and she had to call it back.
"Go! Dusk!" she called out, sending out her Rockruff, "Use Bite!" Though that bite looked to be more like a Crunch when it landed far more aggressively than it usually did...A dark move like that, of course was super effective against a psychic type like the Galarian Ponyta. Her Rockruff growled and snarled, waiting for its next apponent.
Rockruff?
Anani blinked.
What's going on with you?
She wondered, with eyes heavy on her wolf-pup poke'mon...
This is sorta how like Fuukuu behaved...just before getting ready to evolve...
She blinked.
Could it be...?
"I have to win this..." said Bede, pulling Anani back into the matter at hand, "I have to...for the Chairman..." he panted.
"But Bede..." Anani called out softly...
He seemed completely out of it...he had no response or reaction...
"What about you...?"
"Me?" he blinked, "What about..." he shook his head, "Go! Gothirita!"
The sun was setting...and night was falling...
As it got darker...Anani's Rockruff seemed to grow only more aggressive.
"Dusk..." she blinked, "Are you all right?"
"GRRRROOOOWWWWWOOOOOOOOOO~!" Its snarle grew into a long howl as the sun fel downard...a Glow took tp Rockruff's pebbled mane and a grimson glare glowed in his eyes.
"Look at her Rockruff..." said Sonia.
"Yeah...it's evolving." said Hop.
First Inteleon...now Rockruff...Anani...you've got some type of gift about you, yeah?
As Darkness began falling, Lycanrok's midnight form took center stage.
"Hah..." Bede panted, "So the puppy grew up..." he stated, "This means nothing!" he declared, "Gothorita-use Psychic!"
"Bede, you're not thinking!" Anani called back.
"What!?" Bede was shocked when his attack didn't land.
"Lycanrok's Midnight form is a dark type too..." she explained, "...I'm afraid that makes this attack super effective against you..."
She didn't want to have to do this...but she needed to snap bede out of it somehow-
"Lycanrok...USE THROAT CHOP!"
"Gothorita-No!" bede called out as he caught the collapsed Poke'mon in his arms, "But why...? How can this be...?" he trembled, "How could someone like you...get in my way...?"
"Bede..." Anani called to him while calling her Poke'mon back and she moved toward him slowly, "Bede when your mind is as fogged up as it is right now...in this state...your Poke'mon can't fight at their truest full potential either..."
"But I was the one chosen by the chairman..." he stated, "I was the one to defeat the champion...I...am one of the elite!" he claimed, "Me! I am someone who can shoulder the future of the Galar region!"
"Bede..." she sighed softly, "Please realize yourself, and come back to who you are..."
The boy blinked and his trembling ceased. His sharp violet eyes took to a familiar shine once again as he slowly rose his head to meet with Anani's gaze.
"Anani...I..."
...Has she done it?
Hop wondered to himself...but the moment of repieve was short lived as Oleana approached with guards and the Chairman in tow.
"Challenger Bede!" she snapped.
"Ahh-Oleana!" he stumbled quickly to his feet as she hoved over him with arms folded over her chest.
"...I wondered what you were up to when you asked to borrow Chairman Rose's Copperajah..." she blinked, "I can't believe you would try to use the chairman's own Poke'mon to destroy a historical site!"
"Are you kidding me!?" Bede snapped, "Who cares for some REPLIKA of an Ancient Ruin when the next thousand years is at stake!?" he asked, "Have you stood in the path of a Poke'mon's Simple Beam or something!? How do you expect to support the Chairman with that sort of thinking!?"
"Bede...?" Anani blinked.
All of this pressure...so much expectation...it's no wonder Bede snapped the way he did...
She thought to herself.
A feeling all too...familiar...
"The next thousand years?" Hop blinked, "What is he talking about?"
"I haven't the foggiest..." said Sonia.
Anani too, was lost to this.
"Young Bede..." Rose blinked, "It pains me to have to say this...but...I am truly disappointed." he stated, "While it's true that I am the one that found you...back when you were all alone..."
"Back when Bede was...all alone..." Anani blinked.
Just like how Hop found me...
Back when I...was...all alone...
The chairman sighed and rested his head to his palm.
"I saw talent in you..." he said softly, "You reminded me a bit of myself back when I was young...That's why I sent you to a trainer's School...to give you a chance at success." he stated, "But trying to destroy the Mural...a piece of Galar's history...you show no love towards Galar!" he said, "Clearly, you are not a worthy challenger for the Gym Challenge..." he sighed, "We will decide what to do with you later..." he said this as he slid away Bede's Challenger band, "For now...you will return to Hammerlocke..."
"Wh-What...!?" Bede gasped softly. Those words hit him hard in the chest...even Anani could feel that pain.
"Y-You must be joking, right!?" he gasped, "You're disqualifying me from the Gym Challenge!? But... you're the one who endorsed me!"
"Harsh break..." said Hop, "He was a great rival but...it's not like I can't see why...but still-"
"There are a hundred different ways we could sort this out!" claimed Bede, "Why are you choosing the worst possible option!?"
"Challenger Bede!" called Oleana, "I will be taking those Wishing Stars you have collected-" but as the woman pressed her guards forward, Anani, without a thought grasped Bede by the hand, and ran with him.
"Wh-What!?" he gasped, struggling to keep pace, "A-Anani wait-What are you doing!?" But she didn't answer, only ran faster.
"Anani, are you mad!?" Hop prepared to run after her but was stopped by Sonia.
"Hop, you haven't the time." said Sonia, "Your Gym Challenge-"
"But Anani-"
"Will be fine." said Sonia.
"It's all right..." said Rose, "I suppose we could all use a bit of time to cool down..." he stated, "Though I am surprised to see he has such a friend in a girl like Anani..." he stated.
"B-But sir..." Oleana blinked, "She...She just...She just...took him...and ran off with him...!"
"It will be fine." said Rose, "I have already collected Bede's Challenge band...without it, he's not allowed to battle in anymore Gyms anyway. he won't be able to." he blinked, "Let them be...for now."
"Sir..." Oleana sighed, as did Rose.
"It's a shame really...I never wish to see us lose good challengers for reasons such as this..." he sighed, "But we must do what we can to keep things fair and sportsman-like..." he bowed to Sonia and Hop, "Good day to you both."
And with that...they were gone.
"You know..." Sonia blinked, "During one of Bede's matches...I heard the announcer say that he has no family..."
"Really?" Hop blinked.
No family...all alone...it's not a wonder then...
Hop sighed.
That Anani would want to lend him a hand...in anyway she can...
"Apparently, it was Rose who took Bede under his wing..."
"So bede was battling...all for the chairman's sake?" Hop blinked.
Knowing about that...seems to make Bede's disqualification extra harsh...
"Such an awful turn of events..." Sonia sighed, "I hope the Mural survived all of that-"
But just as she said this, the wall came crumbling down, revealing the ruins from within, and Sonia gasped.
"My word..." she said softly, "Not a brilliant turn of events...but the ruins were brought into the light for us to see."
"Wow..."Hop gasped softly.
Behind the wall revealed som intricately carved statues...it looked to be two heros...behind two...Poke'mon?"
"But...what does this tell us about Galar's legends?" he asked.
"Good question..." said Sonia, "More than any hero...there's those things that look to be Poke'mon that stand out." she stated,"And they appear to be holding a sword and a shield as though they were using them." she blinked.
"But also..." said Hop, "I thought Galar only had one hero...so why are there two?"
"A good observation..."Sonia said softly, "More than any tapestry...these ruins that were made in truly ancient times, must show us the truth." she stated, "Hm? Hop? What are you doing?"
"Snapping a pic on my Rotom phone!" said Hop, "This is wicked, I'm sure Anani would want to see it...but..." his eyes glanced over toward the forest back behind the gym. This was the way Anani ran, with Bede, by the hand.
"...She'll be fine." said Sonia, "Trying to console Hop who had clearly worry on his face for his friend, "She already has her Gym Badge...so she is heading in the right direction for the next one." she stated.
"But that's Glimwood Tangle, isn't it?" asked Hop.
"It's easy to get lost in there, yeah?"
"Aye..." Sonia sighed, But she has Bede with her-"
"All the more reason to worry I think." Hop huffed.
"True as it also seems to have a strange and romantic magic to it as well..." Sonia chuckled.
Hop shot her a glare. This certainly wasn't helping him feel any better about she and Bede being lost in there together...
