It felt like time had temporarily frozen in this moment as Anani tried to process what was happening...what they were doing...while not avoiding or moving away from it. She couldn't tell how much time had passed...
It had to have been short-but it felt so much longer, before she felt Bede's body move a slight closer to her... One hand rested on her waist while he used the other to tap the shroom again to shed some light on the situation...
But all she saw was his blushing cheeks and a sweet smile. She had never seen this face on him before either...
Instinctively she brought her own hands to her cheeks, as they were hurting, only to find out that she too had also been smiling the entire time.
"...Come on then." he said to her softly chuckling, "Let's push on..." he held his hand in offering for her to take hold of, "Stay close to me, okay?" he said softly.
"Right..." she nodded, softly smiling as she rested her hand in his and he held it tightly. This time, letting him take the lead.
They wandered through, giggling as they made a game out of tapping mushrooms to light the way.
"Well lookit you, dove~" he laughed as he watched, hearing the girl's giggling as she kept playfully popping the heads of the luminescent mushrooms.
"This is kind of fun~" she chirped, but one particular shroom she popped had a hidden shadow within it.
"Anani, look out!" Bede cried quickly yanking her back away from the attacking shadow.
"Impaaaadimpaaaaragher~!"
"Eek! What is that!?" Anani let out a startled squeal after this small imp-likr creature let out a rawer.
"It's an Impadimp." Bede huffed, "Impetuous little buggers they are!" he stated, "They like to just jump at passers by." he stated.
"Ahh! Hey!" Anani yelped as the Poke'mon started chasing her.
"Anani, don't let it scare you, that's what it's after-wait a mo-" he blinked and cocked a brow.
What is it doing!?
He wondered this as the next action it pulled was rather astonishing. A startled Anani trembled a bit...unsure of what to do...she didn't want to hurt it...but it was clinging rather tightly to her leg...and nestling quite snuggly against it.
"What is it doing?" she wondered...admittedly even Bede was a bit surprised.
"These Poke'mon..." he stated softly, "They thrive on negative Energy." he said to her, "In fact their whole thing is about creating that negative energy by scaring people..." he blinked, "But it seems with you...it doesn't have to." he blinked, "Because you seem to carry a whole lot of it with you already-Lookit, it's drawn to you!" he pointed out, "And seems quite happy about it too."
"B-But...you also just went through something rather intense as it is!" she tried to argue, "Wouldn't you have Negative Energy with you too!? Why isn't it drawn to you!?"
"Oh I'm certain I carry a lot of it too, mind you." Bede shrugged, "But it seems...you carry so much more..." His eyes shifted up to her and he blinked, as though studdying her deeply.
"...What happened to you?" he asked.
"I..." she didn't know how to answer that...no matter how much she pondered those memories were hazy...
Bede's eyes held stead fast...as he recalled another memory of something she said...
"I don't know...I can't...remember..."
...Whatever it was...
Bede thought to himself.
The events were so tramatic...that she blocked out her own memory of them...
He blinked and his eyes narrowed as he focused on her near adoration of her friendship with Hop...
"I owe him...my life."
Perhaps maybe...HE...can break you from it...or...
He shifted his gaze down to his trembling hand.
Perhaps...Maybe I-
Without finishing that thought he let out a sigh and gripped his hand closed.
"Whatever the case- this thing's not gonna let us go anywhere so...we'll have to do the next best thing, then!" he stated.
"Which is!?"
"Ultra ball! GO!"
The ball landed directly with a smack against the happily snuggling Impadimp...and there was very little struggle against its light. A Wiggle here, a wiggle there, and suddenly there was that ding of satisfaction.
"You caught it!" Anani gasped softly, wiggling her now free leg," Thank you..." she watched carefully as he moved forward and leaned down to gather up the ball he threw.
"Here..." he said to her, passing it over in her direction with an open palm, "You should keep it." he stated.
"What? really?" she blinked curiously, "But...you caught it, so...why?"
"Well...because." he smiled," That partner of yours...Punkoon, right?" he blinked, "It was a gift from Hop, wasn't it?"
"Huh? Oh..." Anani blinked as she pulled out Punkoon's Poke'ball, "...yes, he was." she stated.
"So then...think of this one as a gift from me, yeah?" he said, a soft dusting of pink to his cheeks, "Besides that...it's rather suited to you, I think." he grinned.
Anani twitched and shot him a leer.
"Oh? And how is THAT!?"
"Well...Impadimp here is a Dual Fairy and Dark type." Bede stated, "kind of like you." he snickered.
A raised brow here stated that the girl was unamused, so he went on with his reasoning.
"You're mystery, Anani... it's alluring." he said softly, "Like a fairy type." he smiled, "But...you also carry a bit of edge to you...like a Dark Type!" he smirked, "See? You're perfect together~!" he snickered, "And besides since your lot is mostly dark types anyway-Impadimp should fit right in." he smirked as he tossed the ball into her hands.
"Huh...I guess I never really thought about that..." She pondered a while not having taken notice to her Poke'mon party's dominant typing until bede had pointed it out, "...Thank you, Bede..." she said softly, "I promise...I'll take good care of it." she smiled.
"Aye..." he said softly, "I'm sure you would,"
"...I think I'll call him...Bede~" she snickered with a cheeky grin when she took notice of Bede's reaction of a twitch and blushing cheeks.
"You better NOT Anani!" he said to her, "I mean it!" this however only drew out more giggling from her.
"Oi-Hold on a Mo..." he stated as he took notice of an area that appeared a bit darker than the suroundings.
"What? What is it?" Anani blinked, watching as Bede approached this looming darkness, and tapped another mushroom, both letting out a gasp.
"Lookit that!" stated Bede, "It's a whole other path way!"
"We really did miss a turn!" said Anani both exchanging a grin before throwing their arms around each other in celebration.
"At last! The Lights of Ballonlea are just ahead!" he grinned.
"We made it!" she sighed in relief, and the two froze, eyes on each other's, each face softening into a tender a relieved smile. Suddenly, as though by instinct, or a strange magic much like before, they found themselves slowly drawing a little closer...
Is it...about to happen again...?
She wondered, until a shuffling from not far startled them.
"There they are!" a familiar lass popped through the brush, with a Mopeko riding along her head.
"Anani!" hop called out and practically jumped over Marnie, throwing himself at the wine haired female who-was previously, but now not any longer- held in the hands of Bede.
"H-Hop! And Marnie!" Anani blinked, "You found us!"
"It took a while too!" Marnie huffed, "We heard your voices and kept trying to call for you...but every time we tried we ended up shaking up a bunch of Impadimp!" Marnie stated, " I caught myself one~" she giggled shaking her new duskball, "They're so cute!"
"I have one too!" Anani smiled as she held the ultra ball thet Bede used, "Or ratherm Bede caught it for me..." she blushed,
"Ahh, lookit us! Twinsies!" marnie beamed and join Hop in a glomp, "Wait...Bede?" she raised a cheeky brow before letting loose a soft gasp, "Oi, wait a mo I'm bloody mad at you!" she huffed and pulled back, "You missed my Gym Match!" she stated.
"And MINE to might I add!" huffed Hop.
"Y-yeah I...I'm sorry-"
"You had me worried SICK!" Hop huffed,"Don't ever run off like that without me again!"
"Y-yes you're right, I'm sorry-"
"Easy now." said Bede, "I know you're mates but you're still rivals too, she had her Gym Badge, there's not much time left, nothing wrong with moving ahead-"
"You know-I don't want to hear it from YOU!" Hop huffed, "Especially not after what you pulled, you're mad!" he declared, "This is all your fault to begin with-" he stated, "What with that madness you displayed with the ruins and then running off with Anani after being disqualified!?" he stated, "You realize she may as well just hand her Challenge Band over too-"
"MY fault!?" Bede huffed, "She grabbed me!" he stated, "Her disqualification- should it come to pass- would be HER OWN fault not mine-Albeit- the actions before that...that drew her to this...I..." he was rather befuddled. After all, part of Hop's claim here...wasn't exactly wrong.
"...I realize my previous actions weren't exactly ideal-and for that- I'm sorry!"
"I don't want to hear it!" snapped Hop before freezing and blinking a few times, "Wait...did you just...apologize?"
Suddenly the entire situation difused while the boys stared at each other, leaving the ladies in an awkward position.
"I...Well..." Hop blinked, "I don't know quite what to say to that." he stated, "You never apologize...for...well anything- Give me a mo..." he sighed as he tried to piece the situation together, "...I wasn't expecting this..." he mumbled before heaving a heavy sigh.
Marnie on the other hand studied closely to the situation...noting with sharp detail the closeness between Anani and Bede that...seemed to have enhanced a great deal in their absence...and a sly smile curled her lips as she focused that look on Anani, who blushed and tried to advert her gaze a while.
"Oi...you wanna be upset at me?" said Bede, "Fine then! be upset! I can hardly blame you!" he huffed, "...But as far as I am concerned, As long as Anani still has her Challenge band...she is still a Gym Challenger, same as you two!" he said, "There aren't a lot of Challengers left as it is...and not much time." he blinked, "I say...we make our way to Ballonlea...and the three of you gather your 5th Gym Badges already." he sighed folding his arms, "From there we will make our way back to Hammerlocke." he said softly, "That's where the Chairman's office is...Anani can make her appeal if need be, as will I." he blinked, "besides...you will have to go back to Hammerlocke after this anyway to continue your Gym Challenge." he shrugged, "Since we all have to head in the same direction...may as well go together, yeah?" he said giving a soft smile with a glance to Anani, "What say you? One last Huzzah?"
Hop grumbled to himself., He wanted to say something...but the idea Bede layed out...was actually rather sensible.
"We may as well..." Anani smiled and nodded, "After all...we're pretty much already there..." she returned his glance, and his smile reflected hers. Even though she was being held by Hop...it seemed he was invisible to this moment...and this didn't rub him quite right.
"Uh...Hello? What is this?" he waved his hands to gather her attention and she blinked and immediately switched her focus back on to him.
"Oh-uhm...yes?" she blinked.
"What is this?" he asked again, "What am I looking at?"
"I uhm..."
"Well I n tell you what I~~ see if you would like~~~ Marnie chimed in with a cheeky grin, raising heat to Anani's cheeks.
"You see nothing!" Anani declared, which triggered a response from Bede.
"...Oh really?" he said with a raised brow and folded arms, "...nothing!? Hm?"
"W-Well I-uhm..." she gulped, blushing more hotly which raised even more question from Hop while Marnie was trying not to make her snickering too noticable. It took bede one look between her and the boy before heaving a sigh that triggered an eye roll.
"That's right~ nothing!" He scoffed with a cocked hipThis only fueled Marnie's doubt and added power to her smirk with her gaze focesed on the stammmering Anani.
"Oi...Girl's are strange." Hop muttered softly, "It's like they have their own secret language or something."
"Come on then." said Bede, "Ballonlea's just through here." he pointed through the newly discovered path way that glowed with the faded lights of Ballonlea on the other end, "Let's push on ahead then but...mind us some space, would you?" he questioned as he gently grabbed Anani by the arm, ""Fancy a chat...Anani?"
"Uhm..."
"Oh but of course~" Marnie beamed as she pulled Hop back and away while letting their found traveling Companions take the lead a few strides ahead, "...I'm gonna listen in the whole way though~" she smirked to herself once they were far enough ahead.

"Mind explaining to me what that was?" Bede hissed as he leaned in close for a quiet conversation, "So we're nothing, then, yeah?"
"N-Now hold on a second that's not exactly...t I meant..."
"Oh reallu?" bede blinked, "Please then, do enlighten me~"
"It's just that-" she stopped and shifted her eyes with a head nudge to point on to the focus of the hissing back and forth between the two that followed behind them...
"What is this nonsense!? Who does that guy think he is grabbing on Anani like that!" Hop huffed in his own little rant, shooting glares at the male who was a few strides ahead of him while trying to focus his ears in, "Ugh...I can't hear a thing they're saying!"
"Shhh!" Marnie hissed, "Shut it, Hop! I'm trying to listen!" she snickered, "My it seems they have gotten quite close in our absence, wouldn't you agree?" she asked Hop.
"What?" Hop blinked, "What do you mean by that!?"
"Just lookit them!" she giggled, "Clearly something happened between them!' she gasped, "Oh- perhaps they've kissed!"
Hop blushed.
"What!? Of course not!" he argued, "There's no way those two would ever-"
Bede having taken notice of this whole other conversation, then blinked a few times and gave a slight glance to the continuing glare of Hop's before shifting his attention back to Anani and the two of them shared an awkward laugh.
"All right then...you prove a fair point." he stated, "Still though...seems more like a you problem." he shrugged with a smirk.
"Say what-!?"
"BUT-" Bede interrupted her before she could push the arguement further- "I'll agree to stay quiet then...for now~" he smirked.
"Wait- for now!?" Anani blinked, "What do you mean by that!?"
He didn't humor her with an answer for that one. Just folded his arms and provided her with a smirk before sharing a wink and walking ahead just a bit faster.
"Ciao~" he said with a wave.
"Oi! What do you mean Ciao~!?" Hop huffed, rushing after him, "I want to have a word with you, get back here!"
"And you, Anani~" Marnie giggled sliding her arm through her gal pal's and winking, "Fancy a bit of Girl chat?"
"Th-There's really nothing to say..." she gulped.
"Pish posh!" scoffed Marnie, "I know you're lying~!"
Anani gave an awkward chuckle before heaving a long sigh.
It seems she won't be slipping out of this too easily...
Oh, Anani...
She sighed to herself.
What a right mess you've gotten yourself in...
