A/N I just want to make it known: the character tag for Mono does not exist as of posting this. If that changes in the future, I'll change it. But until then, just know that Mono will be a man character in the story like the others. Also, for those who are new to my stories, I recomend reading my first collection of fanfics. It's not necessary in order to understand this particular story, but it'll help you get a grasp on the universe I've created so far. Last: though I may use characters from other games, I do not consider it a crossover. Now enjoy the chapter!

Chapter 2: Hunted

The trio of siblings and the duo of acquaintances stared at each other for a few moments, as if judging the other, trying to figure out what the other will do. The dark spooky forest only added to the tension. A world of danger, you don't know who to trust. It was Frisk who made the first friendly gesture.

"Hey... My name's Frisk." She offered her hand. "What's yours?" The girl in the rancoat just stared at her through squinted eyes, but Mono stepped forward and returned the greeting. "My name is Mono. Nice to meet you."

"Who's she?" Chara asked. But before anyone could reply, the girl in question rushed past her and ran off. "...What's her problem?" Mono rubbed his neck and shrugged.

"I dunno. I just met her... seems like she was trapped in a room in this house for... a long time..."

"Oh... I'm sorry to hear that..." The trio looks back to her, who's waiting at the entrance to the work shed. She asks if they're done here and that she's getting impatient.

"...Where are we even at?" Mike asked. Mono shrugged.

"Well... We're in a forest... with lots of dead people around... and a creepy house. That's about all I know. That, and that the only way forward from here is through there." Mono pointed towards the door that the girl was standing at.

"We'll... I guess we got no choice then..." Mike replied.

"Uh... I guess so." The group turned to the workshop and headed toward it. "So... Who are you guys?" They came to a stop added with an uneasy pause.

"We... We can't remember..." Mono blinked when Frisk said that. "All we know is... We woke up here... We knew we were related and our names but... that's it..." Mono blinked again, but then scratched his head. Or, at least where his head would be if he wasn't wearing his bag.

"Hmm... by the way, what's with the bag?" Chara asked. Mono didn't answer, he just looked away, so Chara didn't press any further.

"Well, we should press on." The others nodded, seeing that the girl was tapping her foot impatiently. As they walked through the workshop, they heard a strange, faint tearing sound. It was weird, but they just decided to ignore it for now. A few pushed boxes and a short fall later, they landed in a pile of... animal skins?

"What the...? What is this?" Mike asked.

"I saw some cages and traps earlier... I think a hunter lives here." As he said this, they notice the ripping sound was louder than before. "...did I mention that there were also people in the house... stuffed...?" An uneasy pause came kver the group as they reluctantly crept their way deeper into the workshop until eventually they walked into a room with a hulking figure doing... something. They couldn't quite see what he was doing, but they're sure it wasn't pretty. They also saw a huge shotgun lying right next to the hunter... they decided it would be a good idea not to alert him. Sneaking to the other side of the room, they began shoving and pushing on a trap door leading where they hoped would be safety. However, after pushing through, they found that it was a trap door to a pile of guts and refuse. It got worse, because escaping was very noisy. They froze and didn't make a peep. Nothing happened for a few moments. They assumed they were safe. Mono took the risk to take a single step, but at that exact moment, the hunter burst through and aimed his gun right at them.

"Oh shi-" the blast from the sotgun deafened them, but they were otherwise unhurt.

"RUN!" Mike shouted. Mono grabbed the girl's hand while the trio of siblings bolted right after them. The hunter growled at them and gave chase while reloading. The hunter then took aim again and this time his aim was true.

"Duck!" The girl shouted as she dove behind a box. The others ducked with her just in time for the box to explode in a hail of buckshot and splinters. The kids shouted in shock then ran to the next box. They repeated this for the next few boxes until they came to a small overhang of dirt which they hid behind. The hunter lost track of them temporally, but after igniting his lamp, he began searching the tell grass for them. Pressing a finger to his lips, Mono took the girl's hand again and waved to the others to follow him. They nodded and moved when he moved, stopped when he stopped, and when he made the signal, they made a mad dash into a nearby hole. They ducked inside and crouched down. Looking up, they saw the hunter staring down at them for a few moments before leaving.

"Well... I guess that wasn't so bad... Right guys?" Mike said as he smiled at the others. But the shocked looks on their faces bothered him. He cocked his head. "What's wrong-" But all of a sudden, there was a loud bang and a flash of light before a shower of blood splattered all over the other four kids.
