Chapter 5: Porcelain hoodlums
"Duck!" Chara exclaimed as she tackled Mike out of the way. Just as she did, a giant paint can rushed right by where his head was and smashed into the wall behind him.
"Damn..." Mike held his head in disbelief, realizing that his head would have been mush in a moment. "Thank you..."
"We have to be more careful. It's unlikely that there would be just one trap here." Six said as she peered forward for disturbances in the floor. "There and there." She said as she pointed. They all snuck around the pressure plates and thought for a moment.
"If we need to come back here in a hurry, this could be dangerous." Frisk said. She walked over to a nearby trash can and dumped its contents out. She then told everyone to step back as she tossed the can on the loose floorboard. Everyone took shelter as a huge light came cascading down and crashing to the floor, flattening the can. The group shivered and did the same to the other trap, which was a tin can with scissors and knives shoved into it. Barbaric and grotesque was what they were up agaisnt, and they hadn't even gotten to the denizens that lived within. As they cautiously snuck through the school, they began to hear distant voices and scurrying of feet. Mike motions for them to duck down and stay quiet. They all did as he commanded and they slowly inched their way towards the noises. After reaching an opened door, they peaked out from the frame and gazed upon a small group of... what looked like children but... something was off... they had strangely large heads and their mouths didn't move when they spoke. They peered in to get a closer look, unfortunately, they paid so much attention to what was in front of them, that they didn't even notice the danger behind them. All of a sudden, hands grabbed them and threw them back onto the ground. They gasped in shock and tried to stand, only to be knocked back. A few of them were pinned by their assailants, allowing the free ones to see the beings clearly. They wore... ceramic masks? Mike growled and kicked at the things holding his legs. He then punched the one grabbing his other hand right in the forehead. Surprisingly, his fist passed right through the kids head. More specifically, his fist smashed through the kids head. MIke retracted his hand and saw that it was coated in blood, the porcelain masks weren't masks at all, they were their actual heads. The kid dropped dead on the floor, sending the others into a frenzy, punching, kicking, restraining and generally bullying them into submission. Mono and Frisk were doing a good job fending them off with a hammer and a branch from the woods respectively, but they were soon trapped under a heavy locker. As they pushed and banged on the heavy metal, the others we're dragged away kicking and screaming. Soon there was nothing but the sound of metal getting beaten. Eventually and with their combined strength, Mono and Frisk managed to push the locker off them and crawl to safety.
"Where did they go? Where are they?" Frisk asked as she scanned the room for her siblings and Six.
"I don't know. Everything happened so fast. I think... I think I heard them get taken... This way." Mono said as he pointed. Frisk nodded and together, they ran off to get their friends back, but were almost immediately stopped. There were a few more bullies lingering around, and they'd have to deal with them in order to get past.
"Think we can outrun them?"
"No way. You saw how fast they moved... we gotta... take them out." Frisk blinked a bit then nodded solemnly, knowing what she was going to have to do. Grabbing his hammer and her stick, they slowly approached the two bullies. Slowly, carefully, ever so softly, bonked the living daylights out of their fragile glass heads. They dropped like sacks of potatoes and that was that. It was an eery thing to do... extinguish their lives but... existing like that... is it really living? They pushed on, shoving the morality of the situation aside. Their friends were in danger and that was their only goal. They pushed through the surrounding classrooms, beating down bullies, dodging traps, and scaling platforms. Eventually, they came up to a long hallway and saw a figure running in the distance. They narrowed their eyes and wielded their weapons, ready for an easy fight. But then... they heard it... snapping and crunching and stretching... the figure was runnjng faster and faster... as if running from something. The two kids felt uneasy and decided to hide... just to be safe. They hid in a fallen locker that was in its side. They leered out of the slits of the locker and watched as the figure continued to run, only for another figure to snatch up the running kid and crush its head. Frisk muffled a gasp. The creature then perked up, hearing the slight noise Frisk gave off. Slowly, so slowly, the figure seemed to... slither its way towards them. Was it... some kind of snake? It had a large head... to large to be a snake. Closer it came, closer into the light. Eventually, it got so close to them that they could see its features clearly: it was a human face! Well... as human as it gets in this horror scape. The twisted smile and piercing eyes looked around to find them, but saw nothing. Their little hearts pounded like crazy as the demonic head searched for them. Eventually, it gave up and slowly slithered back to where it came from. But this time, it connected with a body. This wasn't a snake creature with a human head... it was a teacher with the ability to stretch her neck. Her sick twisted smile pressed on as she turned her heels to return to her classroom. The kids felt nauseous, neither of them had seem something that grotesque yet... but at the same time, they saw a group of bullies come out of a room with a few sacks being dragged behind them. That was undoubtedly their friends, but it was too risky yet to full on assault them. After waiting for them to pass, they excited the locker and followed the group of bullies slowly. Unfortunately for them, they went the exact route the teacher took. Things were about to get a whole lot more complicated for them.
