A/N Hello all! Now, I know what you're thinking: "what a strange title". Well, I have a reason for that. See; its tied to something. I won't spoil what, but that's what the title is for. Eventually, the titles will make up an entire phrase once pieced together, but it'll be fragmented between chapters. They won't be all put together, so you'll need to pay attention to titles of the chapter to find the next phrase. But with that said, enjoy the chapter!
Chapter 9: It doesn't matter if you're a high king
"Wow..." Mono said. "We were just on our way to find you guys. I'm glad you're all okay. I see you've met the teacher." He nodded to the unconcious monster lady beside them.
"Yea. She stood no match for a big chunk of metal but uh... I wouldn't want to be around when she wakes up. We should go." Chara replied. The others nodded and they all, reunited, dashed towards the closest thing that resembled an exit. They squeezed through slightly opened doors and squeezed through tight vents, taking on traps and bullies all the while. They dared not let their guards down and get captured again. They worked as a team, and watched each others backs. They truly were a force to be reckoned with, but even the best teams had their limits. This limit just happened to be another surprise visit by the teacher, who was in an intense rage. Usually, a sinister smile plastered her disgusting face, but was now replaced by the angriest grimace any of them had ever seen. Her damaged eye, her broken teeth, her bruised and battered face clearly did not help her disposition either. Unfortunately for them, they had no hammers and no cabinets to drop on her this time. However, they did have one, ingenious, foolproof plan.
"RUN!" Mono exclaimed. And so they did. They turned on their heels and ran in the compete opposite direction. The teacher howled in rage and followed close behind, but her brain damage and lack of depth perception made her sluggish and inaccurate, even with the help of her stretchy neck. She snapped at their heels, but they kept dodging at the last second. Also, either due to her half-blindness or just because she didn't care anymore, the teacher gobbled up students left and right with impunity.
"She's insane!" Frisk exclaimed.
"Did it take you that long to realize it?!" Six replied.
"Stop arguing and look!" Mike interrupted as he pointed towards a slightly ajar window. "That's our escape! That's gotta lead outside!" He pointed again. "Climb the chair and hop to the windowsill! There's no way she can fit through there!" The others nodded and ran as fast as their legs could take them. One by one they hoisted themselves up the chair, jumped to the window, and hopped out. They were doing well for time, and they would have made it out without a hitch, but at the last second... Chara slipped. She slipped on the chair and fell down, losing precious time. The others screamed for her to hurry, and she screamed back what happened. She quickly scrambled back onto the chair and to the windowsill, but she had wasted too much time. Just as she jumped out of the window, the long neck of the teacher grab ahold of the nape of her shirt. She kicked and screamed as the teacher slowly dragged her back inside, ready to devour her with glee. The others screamed and tried to help, but it turns out, they didn't need to. Just as soon as the teacher brought Chara in, the neck of the teacher separated from the rest of her body and collapsed to the ground in a heap.
"OH SHI-" Chara screamed in the way down, but her hard landing on Frisk knocked the wind out of her.
"W... what happened...?" Mono asked as he and Mike helped them up. Chara shook her head. Slowly, they all looked in the direction of the window she fell through, making sure not to look at the dead head of the teacher, and stare at the figure that was just... standing there. It was a tall, husky individual, but it was hard to see its figure clearly due to the large black cloak it wore that concealed it. Not to mention... a dark fog surrounded it, masking it. The dark figure stared out the window at them.
"Did... did that thing... save us...?" Six mumbled, shocked that something in this world actually cared for them.
"I don't know... Maybe... Maybe it just wanted us all to itself..." Mike replied. The figure just continued to stare at them as they debated the morality of the thing that just decapitated the teacher that was trying to kill them. However, instead of debating this further, they decided to just leave it as is and make as much distance between them as possible. This was a mystery for another day, but hopefully for them, a mystery they'd never need to solve. Time will tell, it seems... The group walked on through the decaying ruins of the pale city while debating theories about the events that had just transpired, that is, until they stumbled upon another large building, but this one was a lot less formal and much more practical. It was a tall, white building embroidered with a faded, red-colored cross on the side. They were now at the steps of the hospital, and who knows what demons lie in wait for them in here. What was once a place for healing... well, none of them figured it was used for that anymore. But there was no way around, due to the massive wall of rubble to one side, and a deep cavern on the other. Their only way forward was, unfortunately, through. But they survived the school together, no worse for wear, how bad could this be? Well, they were about to find out.
