Note: A different kind of story to the big philosophical questions I tend to write about, I will be using these vignettes for practice, character study, but most importantly, are written to reflect a more innocent and light-hearted life.

First date
He sat at the cafe opposite of her school, lounging in the chair with one arm draping over its back; in front of him, two glasses of her favourite drink were slowly bubbling away waiting for her. Ever since he had accepted her feelings, it was as if he had become a completely new person. Now, the thrill of the fight no longer evoked anything but a steel-cold determination to win, to live just so he could see, and maybe... just maybe, *fight* her again.
Of course, if anybody had told him that he would get his bottom kicked by a schoolgirl he would have laughed them straight back into the womb. Yet his defeat to her was such beautiful, exquisite, passion that nothing since was able to compare. So he had sought her out, first watching her from afar, and then inserting himself into her life at odd moments. Somewhere along the line, that desire to fight her again had morphed into a deep affection and love for the quiet, but determined girl; a love that culminated in a mutual and awkward confession earlier in the week.
So here he was, sitting at the cafe waiting - waiting for Lumine to finish her classes.
The drinks had only been placed on the table when the bells rang signalling the end of her day. They had agreed to meet today, the one day of the week where she did not have club activities, and he was eager to see his most beautiful *firefly* once again.
He did not have to wait long; within a few minutes, he saw her beautiful golden hair amidst the sea of students, the petals of her hairpin standing out to him like the most beautiful sun on a crisp winter morning.
On seeing his wave, her smile lit up her entire face in that special way which always threatened to overwhelm his heart. He could not look away from her as she ran to him, stopping only to check for cars along the boulevard separating them. And even as she stopped in front of the chair he had left out for her, he could only smile.
"Good afternoon, Firefly."
Her smile and nod set his heart racing once again, but this time he remained in control. In one fluid motion, he was out of his chair with his left hand resting on her waist as he slowly held the chair for her to sink into. Rewarded with her brilliant smile, he sank back into his own seat andd watched her as she sipped with happiness on her own drink; he could not help but admire the way her entire face lit up, reflecting the purity of her spirit.
"Delicious."
Her voice brought him out of his musings, and he smiled softly at her. Throughout their time together, Lumine had never been one for a lot of words, but he had learned to read her moods, and thoughts, it was all reflected on her face, and in her voice. Even though this qualified as their very first date, he already knew her better than he knew himself; and from the way her eyes followed his, he knew that the reverse was also true.
